Okay, maybe Kara should have stopped Barry from drinking but she hadn’t and there they were. She was still feeling a slight buzz, but only that, from the Zakarian ale she’d been drinking. It really wasn’t like her to even let loose like that in the first place but Barry - - - well, he definitely should NOT have had any of whatever it was Cisco had given him. Yikes. She held the speedster up and listened to him ramble on about a cloud dog? A dog in the clouds, with a cloud body. Okay, none of this made any sense whatsoever! “I really just think that you saw a cloud, maybe shaped like a dog.” She insisted as she held onto him. He was stumbling, dragging his feet but Kara was holding him up without any strain. Kara let out a soft chuckle and she shook her head as they climbed the stairs to her apartment. “Yes, there are dogs. Technically they would be able to fly here.” She knew only of one, Krypto. “Well - - - if there were any other animals that made it from there then yes.” She kept her voice down VERY quiet, in case anyone was listening. The woman smiled at her friend who she held a little tighter at his waist when he wobbled. Stopping in her tracks at the landing of the stairs as Barry placed his hands on her shoulders, she looked at him curiously. “There were no birds.” She shook her head. “I saw my first when I was thirteen, on the beach - - - it was in front of all of Alex’s friends who thought I was a total FREAK because I was SO HAPPY to see the birds and how they flew. I chased after them and they all flapped and fluttered their wings and I was amazed by it.” And how SAD was that? “We should really get inside before someone sees us.” Or, more likely Barry in this condition. He needed some water and probably to just sit down for a while.

@ascnsion said: " who'd have thought you'd be such a softie! " / barry
“If you tell anyone I’ll freeze your feet to the ground where you stand,” he shot back, arms crossed over his chest. The threat was as empty as they come and he was fairly certain that Barry could tell. He didn’t allow a lot of people to see a more vulnerable side of him, but he trusted Barry more than he ever expected to.

@ascnsion said: “Allow my voice to calm you down.“ from Barry.
“I’m fine,” Laurel insisted in an almost growl, reaching up to grab hold of his shoulder to help hold herself up, “What the hell was that?” She assumed that it was some sort of psychic metahuman but she hadn’t seen them before she’d been whammied.

… Had Barry DIED and gone to. . hell ?! This had to some twisted nightmare, something conjured up by a meta, yet there was no hint of a fake reality or sick dream save for Kara’s horrid behavior. Hadn’t she been cured already? Where was Alex, or James, or even Mon-El. He did not want to use his super speed, not yet at least, however hands did work at increased frequency to slap the woman’s hands away. He darted away, body not blurring under the influence of the speed force however. Strategically, back moved to face a wall though he did not back himself up against the side of the building. Yet.
❝ Want to admire an ass, go check out The Naked Cowboy in New York City. He would love the attention. ❞ He struggled to form coherent words when mind and body wanted nothing more than to gape mortified at her actions. Fighting and bringing chaos somehow seemed more favorable. ❝ KARA! Jesus Chr.. This is NOT you. Stop, just stop talking. Grope his ass if you want. No, actually don’t. You shouldn’t be doing anything when you’re clearly been twisted by red Kryptonite. ❞ Barry felt utterly foolish as he backed up closer to the wall, but he did so anyway as lecture fell freely from mouth.
❝ Now BEHAVE. ❞
Having eluded Alex and J’onn’s attempts at returning her back to her pathetic self, Kara had yet to shake the annoying Barry Allen. He was absolutely no fun. He was, in fact, a wet blanket. Did he not know how to have fun or did he just not WANT to have any? Kara was so bored of him and his weak attempts at trying to bring her out of her enlightenment with the lure of friendship.
“I enjoy the chase.” She informed him with a shrug of her shoulder. Kara laughed as Barry backed himself up against a wall. What, just because she wasn’t Iris he didn’t want her near him? As if Iris was the only woman in the universe. . . “How is it not me? It’s MY words coming out of MY mouth.” She reminded him, even though she knew that he was going to fight her on that too. “So, now you’re telling me what to do and what not to do with my boyfriend?” Funny, she hadn’t asked for his stupid opinion in the first place and now her taunting smile was gone. He’d pissed her off.
“Look, you scrawny little bean pole - - - you don’t get to give me orders. You are nothing but an ANNOYING menace who self inserts into people’s lives that don’t NEED you around.” All of the fun had drained real quick. “You, Barry Allen, are a pathetic excuse for a hero. You can’t even keep your villains locked up. And the fact that you haven’t even TRIED to kill Thawne is by far the most pathetic aspect of it all. I would have ripped his heart out already, or better yet MELTED HIS FACE OFF. I don’t want any advice from someone who acts so righteous but does absolutely nothing in terms of actually ridding your city of the threats that are looming.” She practically spat the words at the speedster. “And what part of I don’t want you around do you not understand? I have been trying to get rid of you since you showed up.” She still gave him no room to speak. “And now the fact that you’re telling me how to live my life and dictating what I do with Mon El? Well now you’ve really upset me. If you weren’t so quick I’d rip your limbs off with my bare hands. . . Now either get the HELL out of my city or I will throw you so far into the mesosphere that you will freeze and come back down to Earth like a chunk of ice that will shatter upon landing.”

@ascnsion asked: quit going easy on me. / barry to elektra
NEVER LET THE PERFECT DEATH SMILE IN YOUR PATH, CRIMSON IN HER GLORY. she eyes the other from a distance, the taunt hardly getting under her skin. he might’ve been reliant on his speed but there will come a day where it will run out and not be in his favor. combat will certainly kick in then. a one on one spar to raise up his tactics on the field helps to bring elektra a little closer to her inner battle with heroism. it was sweet to get the call, perhaps tweak his interest in becoming more of an efficient strategist. but if he keeps tinkering around, soon enough he’ll get a taste of elektra’s wrath, “ then don’t use your speed if you want a real challenge, ” wooden instruments that resemble batons twirl between her fingers and held still for the moment. she’s unbothered by it for now, there was no competition at play here. she eyes him closely for what he wants to do, prepared to go a step further if he wishes to continue on his path.

underneath the mistletoe feat. @ascnsion
Whether or not it was intentional, Barry and Mon had ended up beneath the mistletoe at the same time. “I AM a fan of Earthly traditions.” The Daxamite couldn’t help but chuckle as he glanced over to the man standing next to him. “I mean, isn’t it bad luck NOT to kiss someone under the mistletoe?” He wasn’t opposed to kissing the other, but Barry might have a thing or two to say about it in opposition. Before any conversation could get too far, Mon-El grabbed the other by the back of the neck and laid a kiss right on his lips. “There, no bad luck for anybody.” He shrugged his shoulders and glanced around the room. “This party is great, right? I am glad that you and the others from STAR Labs could make it.” Raising his flute of champagne, he winked at Caitlin who gave him a small wave and then looked at Barry with wide eyes.

@ascnsion || “ i never thought i’d see you at an honest-to-god party! ”
“I party sometimes.” Winn admitted with a slight smile. Maybe it was the fact that he was on a different earth, or maybe it was that they were going to be fighting some really intense bad guys the next day. But a drink and being around friends was what he really needed. And to see Kara and Barry drunk, that was also a need not a want.

@ascnsion asked: “no, i don’t need you.” / Barry to Eobard
five word prompts | Accepting
Eobard shifts on his feet, staring down at the power-dampening boot on his ankle. His hair bounces as he moves his head to look up at Barry. “You do too need me. I’m the only speedster who knows what he’s doing.”

(( @ascnsion sent --- [ DEFEND ] / barry to kenna ))
Exhaustion and dehydration weren’t fun. Even less so together. But, in Kenna’s opinion, nothing compared to how utterly shitty they felt when staring down somebody who looked like they wanted to gut her on the pavement. She should’ve known her luck would run out. Eventually, of course, she’d wind up swiping a wallet from a secret meta. And just her luck, a heat meta.
The water pouring from her hands had died from a torrent to a trickle... And it’d all been evaporated in her attacker’s wake. Nothing left to give, it was a miracle she was still on her feet, sore, dizzy, all willpower left focused on matching each step he took forward with a step back. Until there wasn’t anywhere else to. Back to the wall, literally, and Kenna found herself doing something she swore she’d never. She begged.
“ Look... “ Her voice was raspy. Throat felt like she’d swallowed the entire Sahara. Even the attempt at wetting her lips was futile, feeling more like grazing sandpaper over them rather than her tongue. She knew she’d nothing left to fight with. Shaking hand held up the stolen wallet, tossing it at the other meta’s feet. “ I’m sorry. I didn’t know. you can have the stupid thing back and no hard feeling, o --- “ She didn’t even get through ‘ okay ‘. The other meta was moving forward, even stepping on the wallet in his charging toward her. Kenna squeezed her eyes closed. Pressed herself to the wall. And braced for ....
A strike that didn’t come. Instead, there was a sudden voice. Not the meta’s, but familiar all the same. One she’d heard more than once, and her heart sank further, a new fear creeping into her tired mind. The Flash. Just her damn luck, wasn’t it?
But, his calls were distracting the meta, warning him away from killing her, and Kenna was grateful for that, at least. It granted her a moment to finally slink around the corner. And break into a stumbling, broken sprint... for all of twenty feet before her knees and palms met the ground, slamming into pavement, heaving breath ripping its way from her parched lips.

@ascnsion’s Barry said:
“ i heard you were back in town. ”
His elbows rested heavily on the bar, long fingers tracing along the rim of his cup in an idle pattern. Two chips in the glaze, darkened with age and repeated use, halted the movements on occasion. He didn’t turn when the familiar voice rang through the perpetual twilight of Saints and Sinners, but his eyes tracked to his left, catching the movement of the approaching speedster.
A slow, lazy smile curled his mouth.
“That was faster than I thought.” he drawled, fingers stilling on the rim for a moment, before he readjusted his grip to slide two through the handle, the others taking a firm hold. All in one fluid motion, he lifted the cup and turned, only to lean back again, elbows returning to the sticky surface to brace him while both hands cradled the cup. The heat of the coffee had long since left, but it served as prop well enough.
“I assume Sara and her little posse finally got impatient and told you? Despite me asking her not to.”

kai parker mon el with @ascnsion
This was only day two of playing the part of Mon El, but Kai felt like he had a pretty damn good grasp on the situation at hand. The alien was locked up somewhere no one would find him, thanks to the wonderful cloaking magic used. This was fun, playing someone else’s life out. And who knew Kai Parker would have an ALIEN doppelgänger? It really was crazy. No one back in Mystic Falls would believe him and that only made this so much better. Now that he’d shuffled through the alien’s life, he had to go pay a special visit to a few friends in Central City. Barry Allen was a name that had come up on occasion and it intrigued Kai because it seemed like the two were not exactly besties. The heretic could definitely play off of this. Torture was one of his favorite past times, after all, he was pretty well versed in the art. Showing up after seven months of being missing would give Kai some leverage to be able to be DIFFERENT than the Mon El that they remembered, even though he had studied the alien thoroughly before he had disappeared. Once the new and improved Mon El had come back to this century, to Kai’s sweet stroke of luck, he’d been promptly kidnapped by the witch/vampire hybrid in order to begin this process. Strolling into STAR Labs, he made sure to be in an outfit that Mon El would have been wearing. Too bad the cool suit was a little too large, his muscles weren’t as defined as the alien’s, so he left that behind. The Legion ring was proudly placed on his right hand on the ring finger and his beard was shaped up. “Okay, so who missed me?” He asked as he walked right into the cortex and held his hands out with a huge grin plastered on his face. “Is Barry here? Does he still hang out here or what?” He recognized the other faces, but Barry was the only one he was really looking forward to seeing here. . .

It was weird, right? Was it wrong of her to want to be able to just burst out into song at a random time and it make everything better? Probably - - - “BARRY - - -.” She stressed his name as she sighed. “Definitely not the being doomed part. But the dancing and the singing were fun, right?” Rao, she hoped that Barry thought it was fun too, otherwise she would actually DIE from embarrassment. “Seriously? Barry, you have an AMAZING voice.” She scoffed. “You can’t tell me that you’ve never been told that before.” The woman eyed her speedy friend before laughing.” You did not just say that.” She laughed some more, deeply from the pit of her stomach, so much so that tears formed in her eyes. “Stop playing, I’m not THAT great.” “You’re telling me that you wouldn’t live in a musical again IF no one was going to die.” Maybe it was silly or childish of her, but Kara would totally live in a musical if it was a happy one. . .

@ascnsion said: “Are you sure this is legal?” / Barry.
“I never claimed that it was. If you’re really concerned with the legalities of all of this, you really came to the wrong career criminal,” he remarked as he tugged on his gloves and hung his goggles around his neck, “Let me worry about all that.”

@ascnsion continued from here:
Winn was used to situations that were considered dire from years of being a part of Team Supergirl and working at the DEO, but this - this moment - was perhaps the most dire situation he had ever faced. When Barry, Superman, and the other heroes had arrived at the DEO and explained things involving this wave of dark matter that was going to wipe out the multiverse, Winn had thought it was going to be bad, but they had faced bad things before - they’d figure something out, right? However, not even Winn’s worst nightmares could be as terrible as watching Alex and J’onn gathering as many people from National City as they could and whisking them onto spaceships to get them off of their Earth. Watching as his Earth was erased from existence was a hard pill to swallow, but Winn was determined to do anything to help in this situation to prevent this from happening even further. But this? Watching Barry attempting to sacrifice himself was not going to happen, not while Winslow Schott Jr had any say in it. “Barry, there has to be some other way!” Winn’s voice quivered with panic as he turned to Caitlin and Cisco for some sort of back up. “You don’t have to die, Barry - there’s.. Got to be something we’re missing.” Winn muttered to himself as he scanned the data they had, desperately trying to find something - anything - to prevent this from happening. Barry’s hand on his shoulder brought Winn’s eyes up as he looked at Barry’s face, his heart dropping as he knew that look. The look Barry had on his face was one Kara had on many an occasion - there was no talking or pleading that could change the mind of a superhero with that look. Barry’s words sent Winn's heart shattering into pieces as he felt the tears beginning to well in his eyes, his arms instantly moving around Barry, hugging him tightly. “Barry, please - there has to be something we can do. This.. this can’t be the end.” Winn said as he clung onto Barry as tightly as he did his remaining shred of hope. There was always hope, there just had to be.

ascnsion:
A smile found a perfect place nestled upon Allen’s lips, and the happiness was a contagion which reached beyond hazel eyes to the curious faces of squirrels. Rear was wet, entire dorsal side was wet, though there was a strange comfort hunkering down on a pile of snow. Be it speed healing or high energetic output, the frost of snow about them and that of floating snowflakes did not bother the speedster in the slightest. Right, gloved hand reached out from the pile of snow, offering a wave to a squirrel watching from the treetops. . and ( what is it angry ) chatter was the response.
❝ You know, I could go for a big mug of hot chocolate; a lot of marshmallows atop. Or, better yet, Hawaii. Clear water, soft sand, eighty degree days. Mmm, ❞ Tone was wistful. Images floating about in mind even dreamier than the snow blanketed landscape of Central City. He broke from his train of though shortly thereafter and craned head to the side to set eyes on the other. Digits dug into the crunchy snow to form a mediocre snowball, then it was thrown playfully to the side. ❝ What about you, snow or sun? ❞
The many things he had expected upon his return to Central City, finding himself in a snowy park with his erstwhile nemesis as the speedster made snow angels hadn’t been among them. The joy was contagious, or maybe, Leonard thought as the pressed a little further back against the solid trunk of the tree at his back, his own smile was simply a lingering result of his recent rescue from certain death.
The chittering rodent caught his attention as Barry waved at it, but it didn’t last. Quickly his eyes dipped back down, narrowing against the brightness of the snow.
“You have to ask?” he drawled, but a curl of amusement prevented it from dipping into the acerbic voice of Cold. He pushed away from the tree with a roll of his shoulders that dislodged the fold of his arms and in one smooth motion he took a step and fell to one knee, just long enough to wrap gloved hands around a good amount of the welcome, cool white to form a snowball of his own before he stood again.
Weighing his makeshift projectile in one hand, he fixed Barry with a sly glance from the corner of his eyes. “I always liked the cold.”
And with one precise motion, he aimed a toss directly at the speedster's chest (with no expectation of hitting).
