Happy 7th anniversary to Fire Emblem Heroes :)

Despite the flaws this game has, as well as my criticisms for it, I still enjoy it at the end of the day.

Also goodness gracious I still remember in 2017, when people were talking about how there'll be a Fire Emblem spin-off game for mobile devices and stuff like that, and now look at how far we've come ;w;

So, to celebrate, I'll be posting all the artworks made for the game's 7th anniversary!

So any opinions or thoughts on Reba Bubr? She played Jill, Farina and Ivy btw.

Outside of that, she plays Little Mermaid in the Mary Skelter series (I just downloaded the game just recently btw)

I had to look her up because I actually never summoned for Jill or Farina. Jill never struck my interest even though I'm sure she's a great character, and Farina... Mehhhh, I'm not a fan of the "money-hungry" characters. Anna's mostly the exception, but Farina and Rennac are characters like that I don't like. Though she also plays Nikaido in the English dub of Dorohedoro, nice! And... also apparently that character from the famous "Hi Margaret, I hope this email blows your tits clean off" Tumblr post.

But let's talk about her FEH characters, Jill and Farina.

Ok so... Her performance for Farina isn't BAD, but holy shit I can't stand listening to her voice. That's not her fault though! It fits the character really well, and she's got that snooty "You can't afford me" kind of tone. I just think it's a personal sensory thing for me, so I'm honestly not docking her score on that. It's a good voice, and it's definitely someone loud to balance out Fiora and Florina being lower-energy. Interesting that it's the middle sister who's the loud one. Jill... She's got a nice and interesting voice for Jill, somewhat of a rasp and a deeper tone. And her lines about her dad and Mist are very well-delivered. Actually, I think this is a case of great voice, but mis-matched art. Asatani Tomoyo's artwork for Jill is... too lacking and basic in the face. That kind of voice for Jill could have benefited better from an artist like Clover.K, Kibayashi Senri (Altena's artist), or Niji Hayashi. Anyways, Reba does a great job playing Jill, especially in the critical lines.

I think she's a good pick for both characters, and like I said, I don't fault her for the Farina voice being too grating.

Now, there's a very good range between her Farina voice and her Jill voice. I haven't heard her Ivy voice yet so when Ivy gets added to FEH (Which I've got a good feeling that Elusia will be the next Engage banner, we'll see!), but I have a feeling it's definitely drastically different from her Farina voice, lol.

Overall, I'll put Reba at an 8/10 to a 9/10. It's more of a matter of both Jill and Farina not having alts and Ivy not being added yet, so the content to observe and score her by is small. But she does a good job.

after seeing some of the leaks from engage and how… like that they look, i wish they’d taken the heroes route and brought back several of the old artists

considering that engage was allegedly supposed to be released for the 30th anniversary and the whole game is centered around bringing back old characters, i feel like if they brought back artists who’ve worked on the games and are clearly still being commissioned by them, it could’ve made a really interesting effect that would help distinguish each set of games. for example, they could’ve done:

daisuke izuka - archanea

hidari - valentia

rika suzuki - jugdral

sachiko wada - magvel

senri kita - tellius

kozaki - awakening/fates

kusakihara or kurahana - fodlan

for the artists they can’t bring back, they could bring in some of the others they’ve commissioned for heroes that have made some pretty excellent stuff. wada herself already covers a lot of the elibe characters and does it well, and we also have yamada kotaro, hagiya kaoru, asatani tomoyo, and several others who’ve done some really fantastic pieces for heroes.

ultimately idk how planning the art works at intsys, but i feel like instead of the multi-artist deal they decided to bring back the worst aspects of heroes lol

Top 5 FEH artists (imo)

Wada Sachiko - Her art is so beautiful? She was also the lead artist for FE7 and FE8. FE7 just looks clean and FE8 has the dark, rugged (there is a better word but my brain can’t find it atm) look that suits the game. Also her drawing Eliwood does not disappoint because she makes him looks fucking handsome.

Kita Senri - Her art is by far the best in the series, although Echoes is a close second. I don’t know what to say except that just like Wada her art in FEH is godlike.

Suzuki Rika - I think the artist is a woman? Idk but seeing their art for FE4 characters just makes me want a remake with Suzuki Rika as the lead artist. That would be a dream come true and their art is fucking ethereal

Asatani Tomoyo - The special art is the cream on top for this artist. Fallen!Berkut has to be my favorite fallen art because of how dynamic it is. The art looks so clean to me as well.

azu-taro - Something about it is just checks all the marks for art to me. How soft the art and colors look to me just brings this artist up there for me

Been a while since I've sent one of these! What do you think about R!Effie?

AUGH okay so this one I have some thoughts, it was SO CLOSE to being a perfect Resplendent but I think it fell short in some areas.

Resplendent Effie is drawn by Asatani Tomoyo:

This incorporation was SO ALMOST PERFECT. You have the sandals and armor at the hips and shoulders, the tights on the legs and the arms, the buckles, and the red cape. NEARLY PERFECT. But here's where the design started to fall apart: The armored chest plate was too much armor. And the center garment was also unnecessary and it hides her abs. Jotunnheimr garb is SUPPOSED to be revealing on the abs, and the center garment just flies in the face of that. I think these two issues could be fixed if you 1) Remove the chest plate, turn it into a cloth top like Amelia's. In fact, you can keep the pink color so it still incorporates Effie's original design. If you wanna keep the shoulder pauldrons and the hip-guards, that's fine because Jotunn garb still has armor, but just get rid of the chest plate! 2) Get rid of that center garment entirely. Show the abs! There's no reason for that garment, it even LOOKS useless in the design.

The artwork itself is really good though. I especially like how her damage art shows her falling to one knee, but it still looks like she's pushing forward as opposed to the OG art where it looks like she's knocked back. The attack poses are really strong too, though I will say the expressions are... a teeny bit lacking. I've covered Asatani Tomoyo's artwork before, and they're not the strongest on most of their artwork for girls (though Ganglott, Rinea, and Naga look fantastic). But it's still really good art for this Resplendent.

It's not a question at this point, Jotunnheim fits Effie. It'd be an insult to pick any other kingdom for her.

So overall, I'd give Resplendent Effie an 8/10. They were SO CLOSE on that design but they just overcomplicated it with the unnecessary armor and clothing.
