Same anon! How do you feel about Opasami (Opal x Asami) being two rich girls? It makes sense, but I’m not sure how to approach it beyond them just coming from wealthy families. How do you see their relationship working with that in mind?

Thanks for the ask! I've never really considered this pairing before, and in general don't spend a lot of time exploring other Asami ships, so I'd love to hear your take. I'm not sure background is enough to bring a pairing together, but there are a lot of other possibilities. Both Asami and Opal care deeply about the world and are willing to put themselves at risk to make it better. Opal comes from a family that built Zaofu from the ground up and Asami has dedicated her career to improving Republic city. They're both friendly and rather positive people who look out for others. What else draws you to the ship?

Do you have any headcanons about a opal/asami brotp?

Well, I’ve posted these before, but if you’ve already read those, here are more!

-         Opal was the first person to try on an airbenderwingsuit during its prototype phase. (Most because she was closest to Korra’ssize, shhh). That was when Asami and her really started to talk/connect. Theyhadn’t had any one-on-one time while in Zafou as they were usually with Mako,Korra, and Bolin.

-         Every time Opal gets back into town (on leavefrom the Earth Kingdom, as I imagine they rotate out from Earth Kingdom and AirTemple Island/Republic City, etc.) Asami treats Opal to a spa + shopping kindof day. They keep this on the down low for Opal’s sake since Airbenders aren’treally supposed to do such “frivolous” things.

-         Asami takes Opal to her first pro-bending matchat some point during the first year of the 3-year-time-skip, after the arenahas been renovated. Bolin’s off with Kuvira, Mako’s busy with work, and Opal issoon going to leave for another round of Earth Kingdom work, so Asami figuresthey should do something fun. Plus, the Satos have box seats permanently reserved.Usually Opal is not that into watching sports (growing up watching Wing andWei, eventually you get tired of all the commotion) but she winds up LOVING IT.Also, Asami tells her all about Bolin saving the president and Opal just smilesand shakes her head fondly. It’s one of her favorite stories.

-         They bond over how they were both homeschooledand hated it cause they always wanted to be able make more friends.
