part of why sam is so complex and interesting as a character is because he always has to face the dilemma of whether he should get away from dean & hunting and find a safe, separate life and be his own person, but also he knows he’s obligated to stay with dean which is fueled by his guilt and his belief that he owes him after everything dean’s sacrificed for him
