i know that arthur giving smol velvet and laphicet apples at the start of berseria is most probably a reference to chester giving one to ami, because berseria and especially the intro was some huge phantasia reference, but man. whenever it comes to apples i get the hugest penguindrum war flashbacks that there are known to man

#and i still wonder if there's some meaning to apples in jp culture i'm missing on...#kai dont look #crowe family #zestbers talk #top talk #also when velvet says that she won't 'after all i'm laphi's older sister and your student'#she's actually saying 「あたしはラフィのお姉ちゃんで義兄さんの弟子だもん」#which is directly referenced at the end again when she kills artorius besides the 'don't despair no matter what'#she finally resorts to call him that again #the camera pans to artorius body when she says:#'humans spend their lives in constant struggle... that's why they end up making so many mistakes. even my poor brother...'#she's not talking about laphi there (who is in her arms)#she's talking about artorius as back when he was still the arthur of her memories #as it's obvious by the japanese line 「人間は、いつも必死で……だから間違ってしまう生き物なの。あの義兄さんでさえ……」#the location kinda fumbled that part #but considering it omitted the honorific reference through the whole game i don't know how i could do it...
