I'll be writing about what is involved in devotional polytheism, and I'll be trying to include how that might look in various cultures to try and express how it's a little more than "I'm a fan of Loki because of MCU" or "Hermes was just such a babe in Hades" (great to become interested in the gods via popular media but please use it as a gateway to researching them).

Sorry this isn't concise, Apollo forced me to spend a day bedridden with migraines as a forced act of rest yesterday so my ADHD is still a tad chaotic today.

MCU Loki Headcannons

Uses all pronouns

His favorite season, he likes the delicate balance of "Will I burn or will I freeze?" of Earth

He loves to read those romance books with Gods and Goddess, not cause he wants to be put into the shoes of the MC but because he enjoys pointing out things wrong with the book. Fucking nit-pick

He really likes the wooded mountain sides, it feels like home

Rainy days he's either out in the rain, playing in it like a child OR bundled up in blankets by the fire. No in between

MASSIVE "doodler". His doodles are more of actual art pieces and he does write poetry, but not that often. It takes more brain power

Red Sun (1971)

A samurai and an outlaw walk into a saloon… The setup for Terence Young’s Red Sun feels like it was engineered to be every dad’s favorite dumb joke setup, and yet somehow the film managed to pull in quite the slate of names. Helmed by action star and Cannon darling Charles Bronson as the gruff roughneck Link, he has the show pretty much stolen from him by Toshiro Mifune’s turn as Kuroda. But that’s not all: Alain Delon appears as the steely-gazed Gauche, joined by his devotee Cristina, with Young dipping back into his pool of Bond actors with Ursula Andress. The reluctant partnership between Link and Kuroda, shifting from Link attempting to shrug off his responsibilities at any turn to relying on one another and even coming to respect each other, is played with an assured hand by both. And the film has a wry wit, both Mifune and Bronson tossing off one-liners and standard issue action movie punchlines like seasoned experts. However, given his Bond pedigree, it’s almost hilarious how reluctant the film’s attempts at sexuality are. “Oh, do you want to see my boooooobs? Sigh, well, I guess that can be arranged, oh wait the camera is already fading to black well you get the point byeeee” I guess they figured they could coast off the raw appeal of Delon, Andress and Mifune, and Bronson’s weird ‘stache.

From its opening Coplandesque strains and harmonica ditties to the clapboard saloon where Kuroda and Link find Cristina, it’s almost quaint how hard this film was trying to dip into the success of Spaghetti westerns like those created by Sergio Leone. Shot in Spain, this does boast some striking landscape photography, and the film really does make a meal out of insert shots of the sun blazing in the sky overhead. Some brilliant screenwriter really came to the conclusion that the sun emblem on the Japanese flag could have a double in its literal sense here and ran with it. But elsewhere it’s almost cute to see the movie trying so hard. Bright scarlet tempera paint spatters actors taken out by gunfire or katana, the film in parts becoming something of a hybrid jidaigeki as Kuroda hacks through baddies by the score. Westerns’ tendencies to use various indigenous tribes as MCU faceless baddies is always gauche, but here it is rather amusing that whoever was in charge of wardrobe and hair for the Comanche found a bunch of Raggedy Ann-ass braided wigs and was like “this is fine.” Is this one of the all-time greats as far as the Western is concerned? Ehhh… But it’s a fun cultural exchange romp with plenty of enjoyable action.

Word travels fast around Ogden, faster if you're not there to wave off the gossip. While Surachai was away, the faceless masses unearthed the skeletons in his closet for macabre sightseeing. Now it's public knowledge how Surachai's had a hard past revolving around drugs that even led to a criminal record when he was a minor. You'd think the Miscreant would run off to a new school, reinvent himself, and hide his sins. However, when made out to be the morality tale of "don't end up like him," Surachai has embraced the bad press. If he's the Miscreant, the worst of the worst, the monster they've all made him out to be, he'll be the best damn devil on your shoulder.

"She and I used to be friends. We drifted apart, but that's life." Surachai would tell you, and you'd likely agree with him. It makes sense; the Golden Girl wouldn't associate with the Miscreant of Ogden College. But the truth is always stranger than fiction, and the shadow is always on the heels of the light. If Surachai goes by Dartboard, then Greer Morrison is his bullseye. He is her ride-or-die, her closest friend and confidant, who she can trust to keep his mouth shut. Since he was five years old, Surachai has been by Greer's side, and the two grew up together. They had a "public" falling out when Surachai went to rehab for the first time, but privately, they continued their close and intense friendship. She told him everything, and Surachai repeated nothing. While Surachai is no longer in the limelight with the Golden Girl due to his scandalous past and her keeping up appearances, he was her unfailing chaperone whenever Greer was in the mood to freefall in the dark. They were practically partners in crime. Before she was Golden, she was Greer. Only a few people knew about it, and fewer speak of it. Surachai would rather cut off his tongue than spill her secrets, even when peeling off the Golden Girl's shiny veneer could save everyone from the mysterious G. Over-protective? Yes. Psychotic? Maybe. You'd be for the person who has your heart.

Since entering the sleek establishment, there are eyes on the two of you, tense like a coiled spring. “That’s one hell of a leading question, ain’t it?” The young man says, rolling a quarter across his knuckles. “Why would I?” He chuckles, relaxing in his seat. Somehow, the room seems to sigh in relief. “I don’t even know what she’s up to. We don’t hang out as much as we did back in the day, but that’s part of college.” He says, opening up his arms in a vague imitation of a ‘ta-daa.’ The drinks arrive, and he salutes the wait staff with a two-fingered swooping off his brow.
