Glimmer: Fuchsia— Leader of the Rebellion (and by extension, the other princesses) makes her the closest equivalent to the Empress class. While she’s a good person, she is also temperamental, lending to the myth that highbloods have rages. Powerful magic user with flexible abilities and the ability to learn new ones could easily parallel Condy’s power-stealing.

Mermista: Violet — Fish. She’s the MERMAID PRINCESS of course she has to be the sea dweller that’s just how it WORKS I mean COME ON this one’s obvious people. Spoiled rich-girl attitude and notable investment in environmental conservation (wonders if people know what beauty products are even made of and then insists on being a knife).

Adora: Purple — Primed to lean into a cult mentality (the Horde vs the Mirthful Churchful). Important place on her society’s hierarchy. POWERFUL fighter. At her base state, she’s a buff jock who could kick your ass. As She-ra (comparable to the berserker rages of the chucklevoodoos) she’s unstoppable. DEEP-SEATED need to receive validation from others, especially parental figures. She’d make a good clown okay.

Scorpia: Navy Blue — BUFF! SHE STRONG! One punch and you’re out, man, you’re out, she threw a man off the side of a ship one-handed and showed no signs of effort. She flung a guard from his post in the Fright Zone prison. She’s strong as high hell and hot as fuck what other color could she even BE? Also, she’s a well-intentioned autistic GOOD girl, who wants to do the right thing but... doesn’t implicitly know what the right thing is. She tries very hard to follow her society’s rules, hoping that will make her “good,” but ultimately has to put aside what she was taught, what she was raised to be, in favor of the people she knows and loves.

Huntara: Cerulean — She’s smart, crafty. Willing to get her hands dirty. While she’s not anywhere near the level of sheer-evil the Serkets embody, Huntara exhibits the positive traits of her caste. That being: she likes winning, and she’s good at it. Competitive, snarky, a master of thieves, she’s everything the canon ceruleans WISH they were.

Double Trouble: Teal — First, there’s the dragon/lizard/chameleon motifs, so let’s keep things obvious people. Second, there’s the razor sharp teeth, so, again, it’s just character design. Then there’s the sheer joy at wreaking havoc. The absolutely hiveshit insane mentality of “oh you know what would be so fucking funny?” Double Trouble and Terezi would be the BANE of everyone’s existence and you know it. DT is an instigator, a chaos agent, a petty bitch who LIVES for the drama of it all. If they ever die in-canon you bet your ass they’d draw their own chalk-line first. They’re going to fuck you over and laugh at you.

Perfuma: Jade — She’s a gardener, a beautiful and sunshiny girl. She’s also a demon in battle and the last person you wanna piss off. #momfriend. A high-femme who loves pretty dresses and buff women. Will she grow tulips and make sure you’re eating your vegetables? Yes. Is she extraordinarily patient, especially given the company she keeps? Oh so much. Will she d e s t r o y you in a fight? 101% absolutely yes.

Sea Hawk: Olive — Adventure! Excitement! Gratuitous violence! A playful nature! Wait what was that third one? Sea Hawk is so friendly, so nice, it’s almost like you can forget that he regularly commits arson and beats (almost) everyone in arm wrestling (How many people treat Nepeta like she isn’t the fiercest hunter who paints her walls in the blood of the animals she kills. How many.) Also, this keeps with the theme that olive and navy blue are, like, diamond soul-mates (You know that entire episode in the Northern Reach was just an enemies-to-moirails fanfiction on Netflix. You KNOW it was).

Entrapta: Yellow — Deeply, unnervingly smart. The most phenomenal and brilliant to ever live. Utterly unwilling to have any kind of morals or external motivation to do things that she, specifically, doesn’t fuckin feel like doing. But despite that, she’s ride or die for her friends (up to and until she feels she’s been discarded or betrayed by them). Would definitely preemptively attach biowires to her brain and thread them through her hair. So many explosions. Remember how often Sollux coded shit to explode other people’s computers? Remember how he could make explosions come out of his eyes? Entrapta would be too powerful but honestly? It’s what she deserves.

Catra: Brown — There’s a reason she feels like she’s got to prove herself all the time. From the moment she was old enough to understand it, she’s been told she was second best. Bottom of the barrel. She covers her insecurities with swagger that no one’s actually buying and false-confidence that makes her act like a jerk with ever-increasing frequency. Also, this one just fits in with her color theme.

Bow: Burgundy — Okay this one was also sort of for the color theme but! He’s smart, he’s relentlessly positive, it’s hard to make him snap. But when he does snap, watch out, he’s got arrows and he’s got archer’s muscles. But he’s a friend! :D He wants to be friends! :D He’s a good boy! While the origin of his birth isn’t anything extraordinary, he never lets that stop him. While he’s no princess (highblood) he’s still got skills to bring to the table, and he is the opposite of a quitter.

HOW TO PLAY:

step 1: go back in time til before the tournament started write out a list of 64 ships! i like to split mine into divisions based on media type, but you can split it up based on fandom, or sexuality, or anything you want. or you can just randomize this shit! the first rule of shipping march madness is always talk about shipping march madness, the second rule is there are no rules go nuts

step 2: rank the ships in each division from 1 (your hill to die on) to 16 (eh)

step 3: snag a blank bracket from somewhere and fill it out!

step 4: a ship is advanced to the next round when its corresponding team wins, a ship is eliminated when its corresponding team loses. basic bracket stuff, you know how this works

step 5: for the ship that wins the tournament, create something new! fanfic, art, video, fanmix, even just a nice post about why you care about this ship. it doesn’t have to be fancy, you don’t have to be “good” at “art” to play! hell, look at ME, this is my fourth year straight
