A/N: Hello again! This fanfiction prompt is by @morallogic based on one of their posts. I asked for permission, and everything is good to go! Hope you enjoy!
Pairing: Romantic Moxiety
Word Count: 1,230
Summary: Virgil pressed his face against his pillow, hoping that the warmth of his breath, that was revolving around his face would make him sleepy. But, he had tried this several times that night, and nothing seemed to be working. He turned over and grumbled before propping himself up on his elbows. He rubbed his eyes, exhausted. He hoped for the insomnia to fade, but it never did. Even a dose of melatonin didn't seem to help.
Virgil decided to head down to the kitchen to find something to eat, or maybe he could find a movie to put himself to sleep. Maybe even one of Logan's documentaries would do the trick.
As he crept down the stairs, he heard faint snoring from a familiar side. As he got closer into view of the living room of Thomas's mind palace, he noticed Patton, curled up on the couch, a pastel blue blanket draped over him. Virgil couldn't help but stare at the sight, he watched a strand of Patton's hair rise and fall, as he breathed in and out. The fairy lights that Roman had put up gave Patton's face a soft glow. Finally, as Virgil had descended to the end of the stairs, he felt warmth flow through the air, as the fireplace crackled.
As Virgil attempted to pass by Patton, his eyelids fluttered open. Virgil stopped dead in his tracks, realizing he had been staring. He looked down immediately, trying to hide the fact that he was very flustered.
Patton slowly propped himself up, rubbing his eyes sleepily. "Virgil? You okay kiddo? What time is it?" Virgil took steps toward him, trying to prove he was okay, even though he clearly wasn't.
"Hey Pat--- it's okay, you can go back to sleep, I-I just came down to get a snack---" Virgil reached for Patton's blanket, to cover him back up. But instead, Patton refused.
"No, I know you've been up late before," Virgil frowned, he had practically read his mind. "No-- I--- really, you can go back to bed, it's fine!" Virgil lied, trying to get the moral side back to sleep.
"No Virge, it's not fine, I care about you. You need rest. Will you ever go to sleep at a normal hour?"
Virgil fumbled with his hands, trying to think of an excuse, a comeback. He thought of anything possible, his thoughts threatening to leak out of his mouth. He tried his best to force it down, but instead, the wrong one had come up.
"Will you ever kiss me?" Virgil blurted, not realizing what had come out till the last second. He clapped a hand over his mouth, instantly regretting what he had said. His face flushed, he was obviously very flustered.
He too, had noticed Patton was blushing, but he didn't seem to be hiding it.
"W-what?"

Virgil groaned, throwing himself into bed. It had been a long day, and he was just plain exhausted. He didn't even bother to change out of his hoodie, but he instead, swapped out his skinny jeans for a pair of comfortable sweatpants. He took an exhausted sigh, reaching over to his night stand to grab the sleeping pill that Logan had recommended. Melatonin. If it could calm Virgil's insomnia demon, he'd take this every night.
He let it sink and dissolve into his mouth, the taste was pleasant at first, but the aftertaste was awful. He'd just have to hope it would get him to sleep, and keep him asleep. He pulled the covers over himself, settling in, and getting comfortable. He then pulled his phone out of his pocket, and then turned on his 'sleep' playlist. He then clapped twice, and all the lights turned off
Just within a couple hours later, the playlist had finished, and Virgil was nowhere near comfortable. His sheets were tangled, and were in no condition of being resituated. Half of them were even on the floor. He turned over, and groaned once more into his sheets.

He too, had noticed Patton was blushing, but he didn't seem to be hiding it.
"W-what?" The brighter side questioned, his face a bright red. Virgil’s mind was reeling, trying to imagine what Patton could be thinking of him. He didn’t mean to say it, he didn't mean to say it, his mind was so full he couldn’t think of anything else! How could he have said that aloud? He wanted to apologize, put the words back in his mouth, go back in time and never come downstairs, he could’ve said anything else! Anything would’ve been better! He noticed he still had his hand over his mouth. He swallowed, and drew his hand away from his mouth.
“What?” He choked out, his voice barely audible. He was pathetic for thinking he could apologize! He drew a shaky breath, hoping the feeling in his legs would return so he could shuffle back upstairs, and hide for days. There was no way Patton could forgive him after what had spilled out if his mouth.
Patton was first to speak after a long silence, breaking Virgil out of his thoughts.
“V-virge?” Patton gulped, also trying to collect his thoughts. Virgil looked up from the floor to look him in the eye. He almost fell backwards, knowing that Patton was actually, looking at him.
“Yeah?” Virgil asked, his voice finally coming back to him. He rubbed the back of his neck, trying to release the tension in it.
“Would you?” Patton asked, looking at Virgil the entire time. Virgil blinked, his mind blank.
“Would I, what?” That must’ve been the stupidest question, but he had to ask Pat for sure if he was talking about kissing him. Patton looked up from the floor, his pupils growing wider. “Would you--- kiss me?”
Virgil took a step back, remembering that he, himself had asked the question first, not Patton. He struggled with the words, but he stepped closer to Patton, letting his forehead touch his. “Will you ever go to sleep at a normal hour?” Virgil questioned, his whole face growing warmer. He was looking at Patton, he could see his smile, but he could feel it too on his own face.
Patton threw himself forward, his lips gently brushing Virgil’s. As Patton had lunged forward, he had flung his arms around his shoulders. Virgil took a small step back, putting his hands on Patton’s back to steady himself. He closed his eyes, feeling relaxed, but his heart racing. He could feel Patton smiling into the kiss, and it filled him with warmth. Patton then pulled away, giggling at Virgil’s adorable flush with was displayed on his face. Virgil smiled too. Patton then cupped the sides of Virgil’s face, kissing his nose, forehead, and each freckle he could find on his cheeks, and finally his lips. His fingers made his way to his chin, lifting it upward slightly.
They finally pulled apart, and this time Patton pulled him into his arms, Virgil burying his face in Patton’s neck. “I loved your kisses Patton, and I will go to sleep at a normal hour.” Virgil nuzzled further into Patton’s neck, letting his eyelids droop. Patton noticed he was getting sleepy, so he doubled up his strength so he’d be able to hold onto Virgil as he slept. Patton ran his hands through Virgil’s hair, allowing him to fall asleep.
“I love you too, Virge.” Patton mumbled lightly into his hair, grinning at how the night had turned out.
