FIC UPDATE: FIT FOR PEARLS

Ha y’all were kind enough to answer my informal poll last night and it shakes out to about three votes for Roche/Iorveth, and seven for Pearls, so-- I mean I’m very much going to do the next Roche/Iorveth thing quite soon but it also needs like. a title and tags and things. So. It was an easy argument for doing this one first instead.

“Whether you cooperate or not,” Callista said, smiling; he didn’t have enough of himself left to keep what he was thinking off his face, and she was clearly enjoying watching him understand all of this, “you’ll still be blamed. When she tries to execute you for it, that will be the excuse we need to get rid of her. Unless you’re so stupid as to try to spring the trap before she has decided upon you, in which case she’ll have to pick an unsuitable candidate instead. Do you think Nilfgaard will survive that?”

Morvran had been fighting nausea the entire evening, and in this moment it crested to the point that he considered just opening his mouth and vomiting all over Callista. The scant mouthfuls of wine he’d forced down would make it smell terrible, certainly. It was how vultures defended themselves. He could do it. He considered it.
