obviously i don’t like, love, some of the changes to the show but i think the first half does a great job of setting it up to where you can see both alicent and rhaenyra are surrounded exclusively by much older men who want to fuck them, and have just no way of knowing who is being genuine with them. because no one is really! so you have episode 4, where alicent is sleeping in a room with pornographic art on the wall and being called to her husband’s bed and she can’t say no, and he’s not going to do anything to make the whole thing even marginally easier for her. and then you have rhaenyra, pulled from her bed by her uncle to a brothel, and she’s completely exposed, and she’s experiencing new things, and he’s purposefully trying to make this feel good but also overwhelming for her, then abandons her drunk & confused & half naked. this is The Same Thing - they’re both being used and manipulated by a much older man, but because that manipulation looks different, they react different. but it’s still manipulation.

yes, the type of abuse is different when it’s like, your ugly ancient grandpa grooming you vs a handsome 30 year old stranger you met online that you tell all your high school friends is your boyfriend, but ultimately, both the grandpa and the 30 year old boyfriend are abusers but more importantly, the granddaughter and the high schooler are both victims!!! i think a lot of people when analyzing this whole thing, will pin daemon as a groomer but then completely forget that this also makes rhaenyra a victim. some people will even hee hee haw haw over it because “oh your feminist icon would rather marry her groomer uncle than her gay cousin in the book” DO YOU HEAR YOURSELF. could it possibly be that rhaenyra prefers daemon to laenor because daemon has manipulated her into thinking she is only free with him? she is only safe with him?? could it possibly be that he has been giving her gifts and taking physical liberties with her for her whole life, and being the Good Cop, Sweet Confidant to her parents Bad Cop her whole life, that she feels taken in by him because he is all she knows???? in the same vein that alicent just swallows all the poison and bullshit from otto because that’s her father, and his protection is all she knows????

I just remembered that people on various platforms keep blaming sansa for her father’s beheading. She only addressed cersei out of pure courtesy. She was her son’s fiancée, of course, his mother needed an explanation, a simple “hello, my father and I are leaving. I will miss the south and its tournaments, goodbye!” she was just being a lady, which was expected of her. If her father hadn’t been so careless and tried to explain what was going on, she would never have gone to the queen. But let’s blame the 11 year old girl that all she got going south was the death of her wolf and the destruction of her dreams in a couple of days!

To preface, there is an excellent breakdown of the timeline of the events around Ned's arrest by @istumpysk that makes it absolutely clear that Sansa had zero (none, not one single bit) influence over Ned's arrest or death. I highly encourage anyone to read it who may be fuzzy on the details. She is not a factor in it. If she had stayed in her room, nothing would have changed.

That said, she very much did absolutely not just go to Cersei out of courtesy.

She was the good girl, the obedient girl, but she had felt as wicked as Arya that morning, sneaking away from Septa Mordane, defying her lord father. She had never done anything so willful before, and she would never have done it then if she hadn't loved Joffrey as much as she did. "[...] The king had been her last hope. The king could command Father to let her stay in King's Landing and marry Prince Joffrey, Sansa knew he could, but the king had always frightened her. He was loud and rough-voiced and drunk as often as not, and he would probably have just sent her back to Lord Eddard, if they even let her see him. She was done being an object in Ned's hands. Ned, unintentionally, pushed her further into the lie that it was about about loving Joffrey. Joffrey is her only excuse for staying in King's Landing, where the courtly culture and glamor had been her only consolation after the events of the Trident and the aftermath that alienated her from her own family. Ned has made it clear in Sansa's eyes that he doesn't care about anything that she wants, and he offers no explanations, so she tries to exercise some agency and fight for the thing she wants herself - couching it in the excuse of love for Joffrey because agency is scary and because she knows no one cares about what she wants for herself alone.

She's 12. She's can't parse all of her feelings, so she lies to herself. But it's pretty clear that she just wants to take control over something about her own life for once. And it's an exercise in utter futility because the information she is acting on is so woefully incomplete because [redacted rant of violent rage against Ned for never once bothering to actually talk to Sansa].

Arya, as Retribution, is an anarchist set on justice and has been revealed to the Rangers, but Sky-Raider got her out before any of the Rangers could make a move.

I: Well, one thing that always came up with Lost was this idea of, they better have the ending figured out. I want them to know right from the beginning what the plan is. As a storyteller, do you believe that that is what you should be doing? Is it even possible?

GRRM: I think it’s possible to an extent. Well first of all, there are different kinds of writers. I’ve given this lecture in many of my talks. I like to say that there are two kinds of writers, there are the architects and the gardeners. And the architects plan everything ahead of time before they write the first word of a novel. They do all the world building, they know how many rooms the house is going to have and they know how they will flow to each other and how high each floor is going to be and where the electricity and the plumbing is going to go and everything. Before they even nail up the first board.

And then there are the gardeners who just sort of dig a hole and they put a seed in it and they water it with their blood and then something starts to grow. Now, they usually know that they plant a peach tree or did they plant a cactus. But the precise shape its going to take they don’t know. I think all most writers are somewhere in the middle, you know. I’m much more of a gardener than an architect and so was Tolkien .

But I like to compare my books to a journey. Like that map there [gestures to a U.S. map on the wall]. If you were going from Los Angeles to New York, you would look at a map like that and you would say, well, okay, I’m going to leave and I’m going to follow the route through Albuquerque and I’m gonna go north to Denver… So you know your eventual destination and the main roads and some of the big landmarks you’re going to go through, but you don’t know where you’re gonna stop for dinner the first night, or where there’s gonna be road construction that will force you to take a detour, where a hitchhiker is going to show up on the side of the road and tell you a fascinating story. These are the things you discover during the journey.

I know the ultimate destination, I know the principal landmarks and things that happen along the way, like [big event redacted] which had been planned from the beginning and all of that. But some of them I discover in the writing. Essentially I know the big stuff, but a lot of little stuff occurs in the course of the writing. And of course some of the little stuff is very, very important. The devil is in the details. The devil is what makes the journey more than just an outline or a Cliff’s Notes kind of experience. So I may know the ultimate fates of Jon Snow and Daenerys and Arya and some of the other principal characters. But I don’t necessarily know the ultimate fates of Dolorous Edd or Hot Pie, you know. Well, I have a few ideas about those, but still. (link)

I feel they make some interesting points on perspective taking in both GoT and HotD. I like how they framed Tywin as existing through Tyrion, Jamie and Arya's perspectives in season 2 to make the character bigger and then comparing that to Daemon in season 1 as existing through Rhaenyra's lens. I also like the points they made on how effective perspective taking could have improved B&C.

I think it was a really good review! And they make interesting points that I agree wholeheartedly on. This season was a mess and it really, REALLY took out the wind in my sails for writing. It was just that big of a mess. There's so many narrative choices and character choices that made no sense, there was no love put into it, it was just rushing us through everything.

And I still feel that blow from the season, feel that wind taken out whenever I write. There's so much that I need to fix or make up for, and I will do my best.

We will get these POV's in regards to B&C (before, during or just after):

-Daenera, obviously. -Aemond when he arrives back in the Keep. -Alicent or Helaena, I haven't decided which, but this would likely be the first and one of the very few times we follow her from her perspective. -Redacted -And we might also get a first for Aegon!

It will likely be an event that span multiple chapters, like the wedding did. And we'll get all the gutwhenching details.

We've also followed Daemon before and I enjoy writing his perspective, even if it's tough to get into, and we'll also get it in S2 because I want to build on it and show more of his character than the show allowed.

We're going to follow more TB characters, either full chapters or small scenes, I will try to fill the blanks and holes that the show gave us, so that we're invested AND so that their actions make sense.

And Alicent will likely get the biggest overhaul for her character, because they really just wrung her out of all her interesting traits and actions and I don't want that--give me the Alicent that was a cunt.

OK so we all obviously heard Hush’s magic at the end there, and Avior has also expressed that Arya doesn’t feel like home anymore. We know that Hush has a very specific job/task similarly to how the Meridian tasked Avior and Starlight to idk warn about the inversion?

anyway- here’s the theory part, i think Avior is becoming whatever Hush is. NOT SAYING THAT AVIOR IS HUSH. just that Avior is evolving to be like him.

Avior explained how he didn’t feel ‘at home’ in Arya, quite similar to how Hush feels about demon kind, despite having ‘family’ relations to one. SO that would lead us to assume that Hush once had connections to demons, OR was one himself, and then now doesn’t.

I think Hush at some point before becoming Hush had a similar experience with the sovereigns as Avior and Starlight at some point. the experience slowly transforming him into what he is today(whatever that may be), I believe something similar is now happening to Avior, and eventually (unless we stop it) will end up like Hush.

Odd jobs, decent luck, and an occasional good samaritan leave you with an occasional place to lay your head. Other nights are spent in parks, shelters, and beyond. They eventually stumble across a fighting ring of sorts. They’re only 17 then— but they pad their age as a way of entering the competition being held. The prize money was hefty— larger than any amount she’d ever been in possession of.

The takedown of their first opponent comes easily. The audience is amazed by how quickly it occurs— but little do they know, you’ve got more anger than your body can contain and hands that have been primarily used for pummeling. Where some dedicate their hands to creation— their hands are a means of a destruction instead.

She doesn’t win the grand prize but performs well enough that they invite her back to train. They’ve got a pretty face and could pack a punch (and could take one too)— you didn’t come across their sort every day. They continue fighting with the ring, making more money than they ever made on the streets. One of the fighters even allows them to crash at their place for the time being. 

She’s 24 when first recruited by the Mafia. After being caught pummeling some guy in an alley, she’s roped into becoming an associate. She eventually works her way up to soldier, carrying out hitman jobs, and eventually working her way up to lead enforcer. 

Playing by a handbook entirely of your own making is what eventually lands them in trouble. Eventually, their inability to follow protocol is enough to get them demoted. They’re promised their position back if they’re able to stay in line, but for now, they’ve been tasked with working as a bodyguard for MARCIA RAMOS When they’re lucky, Marcia throws them a crumb and lets them handle her dirty work— like in the old days. Perhaps if Karuna plays their cards right, they might actually learn something for once.  — FUN FACTS .

Loud, crass, and with a deep love for hard liquor— Marina’s mouth tends to get them in trouble. 

While they’re primarily a fighter, on occasion, they’re a lover, and matters of the heart also tend to get them in trouble. 

To put it plainly, Karuna is mostly brawn. They have street smarts, but they saw little use in formal education— not when survival was always their main priority. 

They’re always down to settle a disagreement with a little hand-to-hand combat.

There is this weird phenomenon in this fandom, where Daemon's relationship with his sons is dismissed all the time. Like, not only the usual headcanon that Baela was his favourite, but simply... considered inexistent, as if he didn't love those two boys. And I truly wonder why that is? Is it because the boys are Rhaenyra's, and since this fandom somehow agreed that she does not deserve love, then her sons don't do either? Is it because the girls are Laena's, who everyone loves to self-insert into? What exactly is going on and why do people self-gaslight themselves into ignoring how much Daemon wanted a son of his own?

Honestly, after being in this fandom for so long I feel avenged that people are finally being vocal and calling this out because it makes no freaking sense!

It also seems that people are being more vocal about how villainized Rhaenyra is by this freaking fandom 👏🏻 I am SO DONE with all the misinformation being spread about her especially by BFN (and that redacted did nothing to help with making her a walking meme that goes from S08 Arya 2.0. to Victim 2.0. -> Victim 1.0. is oc Alicia), and of headcanons being turned into facts because they keep being repeated like... just create your OC self-insert and call it a day 🙄

Starting with some of the obvious ones: I definitely wanna throw Nine and Vastra at both Thirteen and your Redacted Doctor because YES. Vastra will be especially pleased to see femme-presenting doctors, so that could be a lot of fun.

A couple of other obvious pairs would be Brienne with Dany and / or Arya. And depending on the verse / how things go, Brienne would be extremely loyal to either of them, doing what she can to protect them, even if she knows they don't really need her.

I definitely want to toss Jan and Remy Carol's way, especially since, in the comics, accidentally stealing Carol's powers is how Rogue gets hers, so there could definitely be some interesting interactions with Carol and Remy.

Please also throw any and all of your OCs at me! My boy Aster can fit pretty much anywhere that I want him to, so he would be a good person to interact with just about anyone, whether they're from a specific fandom or were built without any specific fandom in mind!

So, I originally planned to do Cersei I, then Arya I. Chronologically, they take place at roughly the same time, and that way we’d have a Sansa -> Cersei transition followed by the other Starklings.

Ok, so…the budget for this episode is very weird. First, there’s a whole huge set that is very reminiscent of a certain hidden street from [fandom redacted] where many different alien species have gathered as refugees…HOWEVER, the street lamps cause everyone to be undercover in a facade of the viewer’s own normal experiences. Sometimes there’s a glitch, and you can bypass the illusion (so we briefly see an Ood giving medical-ish attention to a cyberman), but it mostly feels like how spn makes all its monsters look like people

Clara don’t you dare. Don’t you dare try to take the death sentence from him. I mean, it’s…your plan isn’t necessarily the WORST, but it’s hella risky
