Buddy Daddies Episode 4 Review: This Family Has A Single Braincell
Thank you for enjoying my review of the first three episodes so far! I'm glad people are enjoying them! I'm happy to write them too!
This review can be found on my blog, which you can click here. If you don't want to read it there, proceed below.
There’s no action in this episode, but it does keep the zany comedy that the first two episodes had. I enjoyed it a lot, surprisingly! It did a good job of balancing the wholesome and comedic portions it presented throughout the episode.
This episode, Kazuki and Red are thinking about what to do with Miri. She’s a menace and only burdens them with their chores. Kazuki realizes that sending her to daycare might be the best for them as it can give her time away from home to socialize and get an education while Rei and Kazuki can focus on their chores and jobs. However, as two people with no idea how society works, they’re clueless on how governmental stuff works and eventually forges papers that can help Miri enroll in daycare. Is it that hard to enroll in daycares in Japan or is it for comedic purposes because Kazuki and Rei never experienced this before?
I really like how Miri is their top priority in this episode. Making her happy is what they’re trying to do. From forging documents to buying her all the clothes and toys she wants, they’re doing their best to be the best parents for her. They even made her a room! How sweet is that?
Ms. Anna from the daycare is a standout character in this episode. She’s sweet and wholeheartedly accepts Miri and her fathers; she does not question why Miri has two fathers, but does praise how lucky she is to have two fathers who love her, to which Miri becomes happy. The fact that she’s the one who tells Kazuki about Miri’s inability to make friends and how she suggested that they buy cheap, common items for Miri to help her fit in better. She’s so great. I hope she appears more later on. Her presence is wholesome.
Most of the comedy in this episode stems from Kazuki and Rei not knowing how to function properly in normal society and it shows so much. They’re clueless about government offices; they buy really expensive suits to show off on Miri’s first day; they buy so much clothes and toys for her without a care in finances. The episode reveals that Rei is wealthy, so the money is most likely from his pockets. I really like the segment of them going to the cheap store and buying everything they see without a care in the world; they all enjoyed their time too!
I’m surprised that no one really questioned Kazuki and Rei’s ‘relationship’ in this episode. Like, the papers Kazuki forged had him and Miri’s name on it, but their address is Rei’s. Do the people who saw them assume they’re lovers without verbally stating it? Do people think they’re roommates; no ordinary roommates would go to lengths to go to government facilities and daycares together. The fruity radar is off the hook! I wonder what sort of story the people around them think of them when observing them. Since the papers had Kazuki and Miri’s name on it, I assume people would think they’re relatives, but where does Rei fit into the equation? I know things will get questionably fruity in the future, especially with the moms and their hilarious group chat messages—another highlight of this episode; the moms are a MOOD.
One last thing I want to point out is Rei’s voice throughout this episode. From the first three episodes, Rei doesn’t really raise his voice or speak up a lot. However, this episode shows Uchiyama’s vocal range as he voices Rei’s excitement at the store. I really liked how he delivered his lines in this episode. The scenes where Rei tries to escape and Kazuki drags him back are HILARIOUS! Oh and Kazuki’s hilarious outbursts are another highlight. Toyonaga and Uchiyama are amazing voice actors; I want them in another anime together again!
I hope we get more of the action soon since this show is about two assassins. We haven’t had them do assassination jobs in two episodes. I hope the next episode gives us a return of the action. I really liked the action scenes in this anime; the first two episodes were so well-animated even from the perspective of a viewer like me.

Buddy Daddies Episode 11 Review: Break Up, Make Up
This episode felt bittersweet to me than happy. I’m glad that our daddies are finally deciding to change their lives for Miri’s sake, but it was at the cost of Miri’s mother dying. It turns out that last week is the finale, which means that the recap between episodes 8 and 9 counts as an episode. I wonder what is going to happen in the finale?
The beginning is somber as Kazuki and Rei realize that life without Miri is listless. Kazuki is too depressed to cook and clean; you know things are going BAD when Kazuki doesn’t want to do the things he normally does. However, that all changes throughout the episode. I’m glad that the two haven’t fully broken up and that they still contact each other. In the beginning, they were just roommates out of convenience, but I can tell that the time they spent together got them to become closer than ever. They mean a lot more to each other than they would admit.
I’m most impressed with Rei in this episode. He has definitely become a better person. He decides to take action when Miri is targeted by calling Kazuki. He’s the one who tells Kazuki that they need to take responsibility for her. He’s the one who tells him that they can change. What I love most is that Rei wants both him and Kazuki to take care of Miri. He could have easily said that he could do it or ask Kazuki to raise her himself, but no, he wants BOTH of them to be her fathers. This shows that Miri and Kazuki are important to him and that he doesn’t want both out of his life anymore.
Misaki dying was not what I expected, honestly. She was going to die anyways, but I didn’t want her to die like this. Sure, she was a terrible mother, but she was still trying to be a good one with the remaining time she had left. It sucks that Misaki had to die just after realizing how much she valued Miri. While her taking back Miri was a bit of redemption in her part, it was still bittersweet. It’s going to be sad for Miri. It was either her going to see her mother die as she get older or watch her die abruptly somewhere. I’m glad that she didn’t witness her mother dying. It’s also sad that Miri was told that her mom went somewhere and that she’ll wait for her until she gets back. I’m sorry, Miri. Misaki is not going to come back.
I’m glad that Kyutaro realizes the mistake he made when he separated the family. He may have betrayed them in the previous episode but he easily got redemption by helping them out. I wonder what Kyutaro is going to do now that the two finally resolved to become a real family and leave the organization. Will he hide them? Will he quit too? Please don’t kill off Kyutaro.
This episode fuels my hatred for Ryo Ogino. This guy had the audacity to kill Misaki and hurt Kazuki. I want him and Rei’s dad gone for good. I wonder if dealing with them once and for all is what the finale is going to be about. In fact, I wonder what Ryo’s last words would be when Rei and/or Kazuki get the killing shot on him.
I’m extremely curious to see what the finale is going to be about. I think I’m strong enough to deal with it now that all this craziness happened in these two episodes. I just hope the family still stays together. They promised, after all.

Hirogaru Sky! Precure Episode 7 Review: The Transfer Student
This entire episode is Sora going to school and the shenanigans she does while trying to fit in. It’s a cute episode that shows how someone from another world tries to fit in. It’s also a good message to students nervous about being the new kid at school to always be yourself.
Sora finally realizes her fatal flaw: she’s very loose-lipped. Previous episodes, we see her poor attempts at being secretive by revealing she’s from Skyland and such. Here, she says she’s from Skyland again, much to Mashiro’s horror. Fortunately, Ms. Yoyo put down that she’s from the Scandanavian Peninsula and everyone buys it, fortunately. Is this flaw going to be recurring in the future? I just hope Sora will learn how to keep her trap shut about Skyland. It will cause her trouble in the future.
She wants to fit in with her peers, so she tries her best to hold back and be “ordinary” as possible. Unfortunately, it doesn’t go well for her as she keeps using her otherworldly strength to break school records. This whole segment was hilarious.
Fortunately, Mashiro keeps being the supportive girl friend that she is and tells Sora to be herself, which she decides to do by re-doing her transfer greeting. I’m not sure how often transfer students do that, but I do like the effort Sora gives to help people give a better first impression of her. I do like how she makes three new friends, which will most likely be the ones shown most often.
My only gripe with this episode is Kabaton’s inclusion. I can tell they’re not letting go of him anytime soon. This is starting to get as formulaic as Ash and his friends encountering Team Rocket every episode in the older Pokemon anime. Kabaton is pretty much Team Rocket.
Excluding the Kabaton segment, I liked everything else about this episode. However, I’m most excited for the next episode. Cure Wing will make his debut in his civilian form and the answer to the mysterious orange bird will finally be answered. I wonder what sort of role he’ll have in the story.

I'm currently watching senpai is an Otokonoko and I'm HOOKED. I do NOT want to get spoilers but I'm pretty nervous about the ending as I see people commenting that it doesn't end well (seemingly sad ending) in the manga version?? Pls say yes or no (don't spoil too much pls but-) if it's really a sad ending I should mentally prepare myself for it. I'm sorry I just love the characters too much 😭
I'm an anime-only watcher too, anon.
Idk what's gonna happen 😢
