Summary of Week 4. And we are done with this month!!! This challenge has been a great one to undertake and I'm thankful I was able to revive my love for painting! The improvement is slight from Day 1 to 31 but this journey will take me further! I'm already working on new paintings and I've been confident about putting my lines down on paper (yay to less erasing!). Painting 100% brings out the abstract person in me who loves broad strokes and seeing one color blend into another through a miraculous thing called water. It encourages me to experiment, even more than before and hopefully I can bring an exciting new edge to my sketches in the future by incorporating watercolor!! She was artistic, great cook cos it's her passion. Very fierce and kind all at the same time. She knew what makes me feel good too - ice cream. As a kid, she bought me ice cream each day right after school and told me her encounter of the day. Mainly jokes. She worked 3-4 odd jobs, rotating within a week. Life wasn't easy back then but we made the best out of the situation and yes, having ice cream was a luxury. And granny's favourite flavour was strawberry. I missed you, Granny....Always... Lunch is served! Read on to get to know about this dish! 😋 🍵 擂茶 (Lei Cha) is a traditional Hakka dish that can be found in Malaysia, Singapore, and the Hakka regions of China and Taiwan. 🍵 The meal contains a serving of rice (usually white or brown rice) topped with black sesame seeds, accompanied by 7 different dishes and a bowl of soup. The seven dishes vary from different recipes, but the most common ingredients are firm tofu, shredded carrots, lettuce, peanuts, preserved vegetables, Japanese mustard and long beans. The meal is often accompanied by a bowl of ground tea leaves in a form of a soup 🍵 So, how do you eat it? Pour some soup into your rice, and mix up the veggies! Alternate between your rice and soup to get the maximum flavour 😋 🍵 Hope that this proves to be an interesting read! Day 31 Blessing. No doubt music is something I consider a great blessing in my life. Without missing a beat (pun intended), this is my answer as a child and as an adult. Every day I am thankful for my ability to hear because music exists. I once met someone who said they hate music because "it's too noisy". I was shocked because music is one of the reasons why I'm here today. Music has been through thick and thin with me. Back in my high school days, when we couldn't bring phones or MP3s, I would memorize a bunch of songs, from start to finish, opening verse to chorus and bridge to final chorus, and sing to myself as my music supply 😎 Now as a working adult, you can find me bobbing my head to pop music or swaying to jazz while I'm doing work that doesn't require a lot of focus. You will also often find me singing a new song I'm absolutely obsessed about at the top of my lungs in the car and in the kitchen. Day 30 Storefront. Have a durian stall because I love durians but I refuse to eat at those buffets because I probably couldn't eat that much and I heard the quality is meh. Durian ice cream is tasty though. I've heard of people eating durian with rice??? Day 29 Roti. I didn't realize what a bread freak I am until it was the MCO and Massimo bread looked like a shining pot of gold at the end of the rainbow on the supermarket shelf. Needless to say, I elbowed everyone in the face and lunged for the last one left (in a dramatic alternate universe). Bread is tasty, bread is simple. I ate bread for lunch for 2 weeks straight during the lockdown. It sounds boring but I switched it up with many different condiments each time. My favorite is toasted with peanut butter 😌 What's your favorite bread? Day 28 Hairstyle. That day we went to a farm and saw a chicken with a funny hairstyle, so it made me think of doing this llama because they have ridiculous hairstyles. Also I get to practice furry texture again and I think I did better. I probably should've given it a pink hairdo to make it less boring and more dynamic. Day 27 Herb. Another great opportunity to draw food 🍜 this time from Go Noodle. Cilantro - people say it tastes soapy and avoid it like the plague but I find that this small powerful herb adds so much great flavor to Chinese food! Day 25 Ticket. Thinking of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the golden ticket. I imagined it would be pretty awesome to visit a chocolate factory... until I watched the movie. And everything was kind of hideous. Day 24 Water. If you didn't know water could be so pretty.... well, now you know 😉 Such a different alternative to plastic bottle designs! Someone asked me what my favorite drink was that day. I easily said water. Is that boring? 😂 I haven't touched carbonated drinks in years and coffee makes me feel like I'm getting a heart attack. Summary of Week 3! Which I didn't want to start initially. I thought of skipping it but I sat down on a Sunday, considered the prompts and suddenly sketched out the whole page 😂 I used more vibrant colours here and tried out more wet-on-wet technique. I slacked off on my cursive writing a bit. But I feel more confident about putting lines to paper (because erasing kills cheap paper) and less hesitant to mess up on not having clean edges. I'm feeling positive about Week 4 and completing a challenge for this month. Day 22 Egg. Ever since we went to Red Kettle and a friend ordered Shakshuka to share, I've been in love with this dish. How can baked eggs taste so good? I almost want to buy a skillet for this. I've been eating eggs for breakfast recently and I must say it's extremely comforting when eaten with leftover baked potatoes seasoned with parsley and a dash of olive oil.
