Believe it or not I've actually purchased quite a bit recently that has not been art related. However I still have art stuff I want to talk about but I'm trying to spread it out a bit so I'm not uploading a video every single day.
I got something else that was kind of silly fun and I already tested it out and I think when I finally film it, it isnt going to be as fun. lol.
I think the last art subscription box I got was from marker universe maybe. Sometimes I like to watch the subscription box videos on youtube but a lot of the time the supplies in them do not pertain to my interest. This box however kinda caught my eye so I just got the one box. Definitely interesting.
otherwise, as I said before. Countdown to the ball next week. Then easter trip to Phoenix.
think we were going to try and go sight seeing today somewhat locally but its still a 2 hour ish drive to get anywhere so I don't think my husbands in the mood. He's had some rough days at work. We may just go see the new Dungeons and Dragons movie and do chores and thats about it.

Art Unboxed - Take A Trip
Art Unboxed – Take A Trip
On Good Friday Ashley and I took our son Nicholas on his first trip to the Nashville Zoo. My first priority was my family, and the second was getting some pictures to draw and paint later. This was not going to be a Plein Air trip, but it was going to improve my art. I was closer than I ever imagined I would be to everything from a kangaroo to a red panda. I was even sprayed by a dinosaur,…

I've filmed 2 videos back to back so I'm done until the new year. Hope everybody had a good Christmas.
My husband is still overseas but he got to go to Rome with a buddy for Christmas and it looks like they've seen some cool things so thats really nice. We called each other this morning and he wanted to watch me open gifts.
He sent me a University of Tennessee giant snuggy thing and an army hoody with his units symbols on it. I've worn both today already, especially while walking the dog because its cold outside. He also got me a cool Hakuna Matata Funko Pop figure which I've never seen before and a new smart watch. My smart watch is a first generation samsung and I've considered getting a new one several times but the first gen in still alive! it wont die! and it still does cool things and works efficiently. The new watch I've been charging it and linked it to my phone but mainly I've already screwed up putting the watch bands on T_T I still need to see how customizable it is.
Somehow, despite being alone this day has gone by faster than yesterday. I spent most of my morning filming this unboxing and then fighting my desktop computer to work.
I'm trying to cook shredded turkey and gravy to smother mashed potatoes but wish me luck because I dont know how to cook. We may be having microwave pizza for dinner instead.
and then I have to work the rest of the week and I already have a bad attitude about it, everyday I tell myself to quit but then the money comes in.
I guess I need to do a year in review. I've done some cool stuff this year amongst the stress.
The worst part of the year IMO is January, February when its cold and dreary. My husbands 40th is in January and I did send him birthday presents but still. I always look forward to spring when the seasonal depression kicks in after new years.
I do need to take my dog back to the vet probably next week on my next day off to see if she still has a bladder mass or a funky UTI. Unfortunately also, I need to rake my yard because this half of the country is a couple months behind on "fall" and all the leaves have just now fallen into my yard.
but anyway! Merry Christmas, Happy New year!

I'm back in town! we survived! So as I have said in multiple videos. The husband is about to leave on a 9month rotation and I won't see him again until next year. This was his vacation before he leaves though I'm not sure exactly when he's leaving but it'll be a few more weeks.
I know I was just in Vegas, but that was a holiday weekend so we both had 4 day weekends and we did splurge to get there. I feel like I have to apologize for going on vacation but in hindsight the last time we went on vacation was actually back in December when we were in the process of moving and this year is over half over now...don't even know how that happened.
My MiL wants to try and go to Disneyland for Christmas and invited me so I won't be alone during the holidays but we were both looking at the prices for tickets and I'm not sure thats going to happen.
Anyway I'm going ramble on about our trip more (including comparing Universal orlando vs hollywood) below.
So again, my inlaws live in Arizona so we drove the 8 hours to their house and spent a couple days before picking up my SiL and driving another 8 hours to Los Angeles.
We had discussed what kind of vacation we should take this year. Besides this past Vegas trip my SiL hasn't really had a vacation (kinda) and wanted to go to the beach for the first time ever. Some of the logistics for other trips we were just too..tired...to handle...so we both wanted to see the new Super Mario World so California was an easy enough thing to plan.
When we got to Los Angeles we checked into our hotel..which hilariously was having some sort of water inspection and they gave us an apology letter saying the water would be shut off until the next day T_T so we dropped off our luggage and went and wandered around the City Walk which is like Universals version of Downtown disney. The shopping district. Now I have been to Orlando many many times living close on the east coast. This city walk in Hollywood was super tiny. We ended up going to go see the new SpiderMan movie which was fabulous. Little long, but wonderful. Ate dinner and then went to bed.
Next day we actually went to Universal Studios and I have some safety issues. Now US really has a pretty view up on their hill but somebody didn't think about these logistics of these escalators. We got let into the park early but the mad rush for mario at the bottom of the 3 escalators felt like a dangerous human stampede. I don't know how people werent falling off or getting squished and dying. Thats dangerous. And I'm sure they had them but I didn't see any elevators. My FiL is disabled and though he wasn't with us, I honestly don't know how anybody in a wheelchair or scooter manages to get around this park at all. Its small and cramped and very dependent on going up and down hills. I will say too that I was actually disappointed with the Mario ride. The land looks cool even though it isn't magically hidden. Like at disneyworld or universal orlando they hide the buildings and structural supports within a facade so you "forget" you're in a themepark. Mario you could see the wirings and supports..which was fine..but the ride sucked. I was honestly expecting some sort of 3d immersive ride. Maybe not a real rollercoaster but one that felt like you were on one. This was just another Buzz Lightyear or Men in Black. Instead of lasers you are shooting turtle shells. 8( sad. I didn't get to try any food because we planned poorly and are broke (not really but yeah).
I will say that Jurassic World is great. I wish they would update the one in Orlando. I also really enjoyed the studio tour. And I could be totally wrong but I think we accidentally saw a celebrity from afar idk. But I liked how they incorporated F&F and kingkong into it. I'm not a fan of the individual rides over in Orlando.
Overall we finished the park quickly. Very small. P.S. we did single rider for mario because it was a 2 hour wait from rope drop and I aint about that wait. Near walk on with single rider.
And then the next couple of days were spent at Santa Monica Pier and Little Tokyo and Hollywood BLVD. I had no desire to visit Hollywood at all but we accidentally drove by the Line Friends store and miniso so we stopped. I was hoping for korean make up and then I just like looking at anything cute. We did see an angry woman screaming at somebody who then pulled her naked boobs out and swung them like nunchucks and then saw another naked man applying sunscreen(?). So that was about accurate to what my inlaws said Hollywood was like, I guess.
In Santa Monica we ran into 2 celebrities. One, I don't know who he was but a group of Chinese tourists were taking photos of him. I asked who it was and they showed me what looked like an IMDB page for him but I couldn't read..the..chinese..its fine..he was handsome and smelt good up close?
and then Logan Paul was filming literally behind me. Photo was posted to twitter. So like..catch my butt on his youtube later I guess. I had a simba backpack on.
But mainly I wanted to go to Koreatown or Little Tokyo. For times sake, we went to Tokyo because I was told its less "ghetto" and just better. Tokyo I had high hopes may have art supplies but korea had make up..ugh...I did see art supplies in Tokyo but the amount of people just brought on stress anxiety. One of the bookstores I went into had sets of 5 copic markers for 7.99...that is...impressive. Looking back theres some stuff I kind of wish I'd bought but I got stressed out I left the shop.
but overall, I could spend another day or two for sure. But I know we got scammed a bit with parking costs, traffic made me nauseous, it was kind of cold too...I was honestly expecting weather to be like Florida (hot and muggy), so I brought summer clothes and ended up cold. And oddly enough, I think I also expected the landscape to look like florida. I've definitely heard of the "hollywood hills" but in my mind I was still expecting swamp..and yes..LA is very dirty. I don't think I need to live there. I do however like some of the architecture on the outskirt cities.
also, I finally got some decent pastries and a matcha coffee. /highfive/

and hy tumblr. Little color nerdy things today
so I hath over the past weeks accumulated a few new art supplies which I've post about on twitter but I don't have enough room there to express my color theoriiiiesss.
internet has convinced me that I guess I do kinda like swatching..I guess its relaxing even though I thought they were dumb videos but here we are. So I've decided to create me a swatch book because...I'm wasting a lot of sketchbook space on swatching colors...when I'm trying to make decorative sketchbooks here.
so I purchased a few new pencils to add to my collection. I don't use colored pencils that largely...but these ones looked beautiful. I had to get standard black (the colored pencil I do abuse the most) and a white just to test it. These are the first luminance I've ever used. So I look forward to doing something with these.
and then the watercolors. So I don't own any Winsor and Newton watercolors. Purchased these on a whim because they look like spring. I was expecting them to be..pastel-y..tho...little bit of a disappointment..HOWEVER! I purchased holbein titanium white watercolor (which is toxic yay), and guess what happens when you merge white with other colors..you get pastel-y colors lmao. These are now practically as opaque as my acryl gouaches and I think I'm going to make halfpans of them. blessed creaminess.
and then I painted a ferret. I actually did use a bit of my pink (and accidentally lavender) in my ferret. But mostly it was holbein and turner acryl gouache. I did another longboi because twitter taught me how to easily merge large paintings together when they're too big for the scanner and bravo..it works. I posted it on tiktok which is username Dausypoo btw.
thats all

I purchased a few new art supplies. Ive been enjoying using watersoluble colored pencils and I had a lot of fun using the caran dache museum acuarells that I already owned I wanted to get a few extra colors.
Unfortunately I seem to be having bad luck with blick shipping. All the pencil leds were broken in shipping except the blue. Blue was intact but as you can see, even with me resharpening the pencils the blue is much shorter. Kinda upsetting as these pencils arent really cheap.
I also got a few more earth toned gouaches. I dont really own any holbein gouache. I have watercolors and acrylic gouache but not traditional gouache. Im still trying to decide if in the future I want to get the holbein japanese gouache sets..but I dont know..
I love pastel colors but I think a lot of my artwork is more surprisingly natural toned..so thats kinda the colors I got in pencils and gouache.
And then procreate drawing just to chuck art in there.
Im getting in that fall mood and last year I was super inspired by fall. This year I want to be inspired but Im completely stumped. No idea what to draw. And Im too lazy to do studies and still lifes.

I Feel like I need to backtrack because I can't keep up with social media. Still wanting to keep my art stuff art only related but then I have no where to vent about real life. But then when you vent about real life you get in trouble.
so essentially recently I've purchased some more art supplies and I've doodled a bit but nothing I want to srsly add to my portfolio but I will upload them here eventually.
I was not going to purchase the Rebecca Green set because its rather expensive for me already owning a lot of the colors but it was such a beautiful box that I just needed to. So ofc its pretty. I'm not uninspired. I got me a new tan watercolor book. I've been using the gray toned one and I hate it. I like the warmth of the tan colors. And st louis art supply and these ink stones. Now I've seen artists use similar stones which are made for traditional lettering..I have no desire to use them for art but I bought a white one because it said it was opaque. I wanted to see how opaque. Right now I use other white ink with a paint brush..and I was just curious if I could wet the stone with the paint brush and would it work...idk..
I also got a few more holbein watercolors and a few artist supporting things I got from peoples etsies and what not. But again, just kinda feeling uninspired. I am a bit more gym reinspired and reading inspired and doing both of those.
