Found buried in a notebook, interview with Agnès Varda printed in the Village Voice, 2009. I saw Beaches of Agnès at Film Forum that summer and fell in love with her body of work. She is such an underrated auteur. At 80, she was still making films and inspiring new generations of artists. I recently found a journal entry from around the same time wherein I proclaimed her my artistic mother. After knowing each other for 10 years & having our beautiful daughter first. We decided to go against our plans to be like Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell, the "married without the formal papers" type. We got married somewhere in L.A. on April 23, 2016 with our daughter in tow by a female Russian lawyer that shouted a thick accent we could barely understand. It was just the two of us and our little girl. And of course our daughter decides in the middle of exchanging vows she whips out my boob & starts breastfeeding! Nope, not making this up. 😂 It was sheer comedy. The Russian judge said, "Um, you need to stop?" We said, "Nah, let's just keep this train moving." We were in t-shirts & jeans. Yep. So, on my 40th birthday this past October 10th, we decided to celebrate more than just turning the big 4-0.
