Instead, Dean has discovered a way to traverse the Axis Mundi to visit other universes, alternative Earths, and has been meddling in their fates. Dean tells Jack that it’s because he’s looking for his “family,” but Jack feels he’s really just looking for one individual: Castiel.

Castiel must confront Dean and the consequences of his confession, or else Jack may need to take corrective actions. But will their reunion be enough to bring Dean peace? Or is there still some greater destiny the hunter must fulfill, even in death…

Summary

Inspired by Demon Dean killing Sam with the First Blade in Atomic Monsters, this fic asks what if Cas was forced to kill Dean to save him from the MOC and he made a similar deal with the Shadow? Dean and Cas both believe they'll never find a moment of true happiness, so making a deal with the Empty is a win for each of them. But intervening canon events make that prospect more difficult with each passing day.

Excerpt It’s the only way, no matter how desperately his heart wants to resist the cold, suffocating reality of it. Part of Cas wants to scream at the injustice. He wants to turn back time and somehow undo all the choices that led them here.

The road to Cas’ personal Hell was paved with good intentions, but that won’t stop them all from burning in the flames. 40 years in hell and he never turned, but Dean’s only one man. He took on the Mark to save humanity only to lose his own in the process.

If he could, Cas knows Dean would ask him to end this for him. He knows that. So he's going to stop Dean, even if he crushes his own heart in the process. Tonight is the night he kills the monster Dean Winchester has become.

Once upon a time, there was nothing.

Nothing but Empty.

The Empty liked it that way.

Why and how that all changed was unclear. 

One moment there was nothing, exactly as it should be. 

But in the next, there was God. God and Amara. A two-for-one deal that was anything but a welcome surprise as far as the Empty was concerned.

Maybe God had always been there, but had left the Empty alone. The Empty did not know. The Empty only knew that It didn’t like God being all up in Its business—or simply being around, period.

So the Empty asked God to kindly get the fuck out, and go find his own place to annoyingly be.

(God’s sister could stay, if she wanted. Because she seemed to understand, to appreciate the simple beauty of nothingness. But no, wherever dear brother went, so did sister. That was very irritating.)

Eventually they both departed, and all was quiet again—for a time. A nice and long, long time, during which the Empty slept and enjoyed Its state of near non-existence, of being forgotten. Alone.

Then God unceremoniously dumped the first dead angel upon Its realm, and everything went straight to shit.

My newest story is out!! This was such a joy to write! Claire's childhood summed up in vignettes of the important moments in her life and the people she built a life around. Plus, my childhood dream of having a gigantic pillow fort came true in this story.

Fluffsnake's art is amazing and I could gush about them forever.
