Round pearls are so sexy tho, that’s such a sexy shape for a thing that looks like that. There are many things about pearls I do not understand
perliculture is so advanced. i thought those fun-shaped “freshwater” coin pearls were fakes or cut to shape but they really get mussels to grow these
some look messier than others with thicker nacre but even the neat ones occasionally have nacre bumps.
#I know how they are made#natural pearls are usually parisites and don’t occur as deep into the tissue#artificial ones use beads or I suppose other objects in this case and are seeded much deeper in one of the organs I think#what I don’t get is why the pretty marbled ones are so much less desirable than solid colors#marbling is inherently rlly pretty to me so if I had pearls I’d want there to be many colors on each one#I get why a solid color may have a slight edge but a pearl’s a pearl man idk#also these are precise shapes and that’s not always possible so idk why these wouldn’t be expensive given the shape isn’t warped or weird#pearls#freshwater pearls#I tried to include some of the original tags but I have thoughts I guesss
