The Hunt Is On! Eggs-traordinary Animals That Hide Their Eggs
by Shelby Wyzykowski
Just once every year, an eggs-tra special day rolls around when a certain long-eared, fluffy-tailed fellow comes hopping down the bunny trail to your home. He brings with him all of the egg-ceptionally tasty springtime goodies that he knows will satisfy your sweet tooth. Your basket gets filled to the brim with chocolate rabbits, pastel-colored confections, and chick-shaped marshmallows, just to name a few delectable treats. It’s a holiday candy lover’s dream! But then you may just notice one thing that’s missing…where are all the eggs? No, the Easter Bunny didn’t forget them. He’s giving you a bit of a challenge this year. He’s remembered an old German tradition that started hundreds of years ago. It was so long ago that he had a different name…Osterhase! Osterhase would secretly lay eggs in the back garden so children could enjoy the outdoors and hunt for their Easter eggs. So, like long ago, you get to look outside (virtually) for eggs too! But as you search and discover egg after egg, little do you know that, beyond your garden, there are many more eggs concealed in secret spots. In fact, they’re all over the world…in mountain forests, on ocean shores, and in steamy swamps. But they’re not hidden by the Easter Bunny. All sorts of animals hide their eggs too! Let’s take some time to eggs-plore the planet and learn more about these eggs-traordinary creatures. Let’s go on an egg hunt!
First let’s search out West for the eggs of a plump, short-tailed bird called the American Dipper. They love to live in and around pristine mountain streams ranging from way up in Alaska and all the way down into Panama! That’s a lot of places for them to hide their eggs, so, for now, let’s just focus on one of the Dipper’s favorite spots in Montana’s Rocky Mountains. Dippers are the only songbirds in the United States that love to routinely swim. And they have several adaptations that make dunking and diving quite easy for them. At the base of their tails, they have what is called a uropygial (oil) gland. They use their beak to collect oil from this gland and, when they preen, it makes their feathers waterproof. They also have nictitating membranes (extra eyelids) and flaps of skin covering their nostrils that protect their eyes and beak when they’re submerged.
But all these swim-friendly features can also help immensely when Dippers nest. To keep their eggs safe from predators, they sometimes build their nests in hard-to-reach spots like cliff ledges, on boulders, and under bridges. But there is one very special, watery way that Dippers like to raise their chicks…behind waterfalls! It can get wet if you live behind a waterfall, so a Dipper nest is specially designed to withstand such damp conditions. The dome-shaped nest is about the size of a soccer ball and has multiple layers of moss, bark, leaves, and coarse grass. The thick, outside shell of moss absorbs moisture so the inside, lined with grass, stays cozy and dry. After around two weeks of incubation, the clutch of four to five eggs hatch. Mom spends a lot of time on the nest, but both parents feed the sparsely-downed chicks up to twenty times an hour! They must fly back and forth through the veil of falling water to get to and from their hungry babies.
After a little over three weeks, the fledgling Dippers are old enough to leave the nest. So, they must bravely make their first trip through the curtain of cascading water. Then they watch and learn from their parents how to wade, swim, and dive in the stream to hunt for food. Sadly, the Dipper’s preferred meals (crayfish, tadpoles, fish eggs, and aquatic insects) become scarce when streams are tainted by humans. Poor practices in logging, mining, and farming can cause these birds to abandon polluted areas. Luckily, for now, they do manage to find new locations with clean, cold, rushing water that they can happily call home.
Now let’s travel a few states over to Florida, one of several Southern states where the American Alligator glides through the waters of slow-moving rivers, lakes, and sweltering marshes. In June and July, the female alligator creates a huge nest out of mud, plants, and sticks. It can be up to two to three feet high and as wide as seven to ten feet! The nest needs to be this big because the mother alligator lays as many as thirty-five to ninety eggs. Once the nest is filled with eggs, she completely covers them up with more vegetation. As the eggs rest hidden and undisturbed for several weeks, an interesting process occurs within the massive mound.

Alligator embryos do not have chromosomes that determine gender, so the temperature of the nest determines how many of the young are girls and how many are boys. If, for example, the nest is located on a sunny riverbank (somewhere around 91 to 93 degrees Fahrenheit), the offspring are mostly male. The temperature of a nest in a cool, shady spot might hover around 86 degrees, and that environment produces mostly females. Around the end of August, the baby gators, still safe in their eggs, start making high-pitched noises. This lets their mom know that they’re ready to break out. She uncovers the nest for them to hatch. When the hatchlings are tiny, they hang out in a small group called a “pod”, but mom is always close by keeping a watchful eye on them. Unfortunately, climate change is beginning to affect the behavior of temperature-dependent species like the alligator. They are beginning to nest earlier and earlier in the year to preserve the correct male to female ratio. The alligators instinctively know that they need to keep a gender balance to allow their species to successfully thrive!
Our last stop covers a wide area, so get ready for the toughest challenge of our hunt! We’re going to search for the eggs of the Loggerhead Turtle. They like to swim in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, and the Mediterranean Sea. But between late April and early September, the females leave their aquatic homes to nest on the beaches where they themselves hatched decades earlier. Safely under the cover of darkness, a female Loggerhead will use her powerful rear flippers to dig a hole in the sand. After she lays around one hundred eggs, she once again uses her flippers to expertly cover up her eggs. She does such a thorough job that she erases any sign of her nest…it’s a safe and cozy hiding place for her eggs! They need to be well-hidden because the mother Loggerhead does not watch over her nest. Instead, she returns to the sea, leaving the concealed eggs to develop on their own.
Like alligators, the gender of sea turtle embryos is temperature dependent. A nest in warmer sand produces more females (this biological fact concerns marine scientists because global warming will disrupt the proper male to female ratio). After about two months of incubation, the baby turtles hatch and wait for nightfall. Then in a joint effort, they all climb out of the nest together and make a mad dash for the ocean waves. But their journey is fraught with danger.
Predators such as birds, crabs, dogs, and even raccoons are anxiously waiting to make these little turtles into scrumptious evening snacks. And the hatchlings have another, more insidious hazard to deal with…artificial light. To reach the ocean, the hatchlings use the natural light (the moon and stars) horizon to guide them. But beachfront lighting, highway lights, and campfires can disorient them and lead them in the wrong direction. It’s true that the odds are stacked against them, and even though it’s a treacherous trek to the water’s edge, many do make it. And then the real adventure begins for these little ones in their new ocean home!
Now that we’ve finished our egg hunting eggs-pedition, and you’ve fervently feasted on your Easter treats, your once-filled basket contains only some crumpled foil, a clump of Easter grass, and one squashed jelly bean. And, unfortunately, the only thing that you’ve got plenty of are the pangs of an eggs-cruciating stomachache. But while you’re laying back in your favorite comfy chair recovering from the day’s egg-citement, think about all those creatures out there in the world that work so hard to hide their eggs in the most interesting of places. And that leads you to wondering that maybe, just maybe, there might be one more egg still hidden in your garden. It might be hiding behind the daffodils or under the old wheelbarrow or in the tulip bed. And when you feel better, and you go back outside and find that last egg, it seems to me that would be an egg-cellent way to end an eggs-tra special day.

Health care Cannabis - The Debate Rages On
Cannabis is also recognized as pot, grass and weed but its formal title is in fact cannabis. It will come from the leaves and flowers of the plant Cannabis sativa. It is considered an illegal substance in the US and a lot of nations around the world and possession of marijuana is a criminal offense punishable by legislation. The Food and drug administration classifies marijuana as Plan I, substances which have a quite large possible for abuse and have no established medical use. In excess of the a long time numerous studies claim that some substances discovered in marijuana have medicinal use, specially in terminal illnesses this sort of as cancer and AIDS. This started out a intense debate more than the execs and cons of the use of healthcare marijuana. To settle this discussion, raw garden carts  the Institute of Medication published the popular 1999 IOM report entitled Cannabis and Drugs: Assessing the Science Foundation. The report was comprehensive but did not give a distinct reduce sure or no answer. The opposite camps of the health-related cannabis issue often cite element of the report in their advocacy arguments. Nevertheless, although the report clarified a lot of issues, it never ever settled the controversy once and for all. Let us seem at the concerns that assistance why healthcare marijuana should be legalized. (one) Cannabis is a normally occurring herb and has been used from South The us to Asia as an organic medication for millennia. In this day and age when the all organic and organic and natural are critical well being buzzwords, a by natural means taking place herb like cannabis might be a lot more desirable to and safer for buyers than artificial medicines. (two) Marijuana has robust therapeutic prospective. A number of scientific studies, as summarized in the IOM report, have noticed that cannabis can be utilised as analgesic, e.g. to handle discomfort. A handful of research confirmed that THC, a cannabis component is successful in managing chronic ache experienced by cancer sufferers. However, studies on acute discomfort this kind of as people skilled during surgical treatment and trauma have inconclusive reviews. A number of studies, also summarized in the IOM report, have demonstrated that some marijuana components have antiemetic properties and are, therefore, effective in opposition to nausea and vomiting, which are common aspect consequences of most cancers chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Some researchers are convinced that hashish has some therapeutic prospective from neurological ailments such as several sclerosis. Particular compounds extracted from cannabis have robust therapeutic prospective. Cannobidiol (CBD), a key ingredient of cannabis, has been revealed to have antipsychotic, anticancer and antioxidant homes. Other cannabinoids have been demonstrated to prevent substantial intraocular pressure (IOP), a key chance element for glaucoma. Medicines that contain energetic components existing in marijuana but have been synthetically made in the laboratory have been accepted by the US Fda. A single example is Marinol, an antiemetic agent indicated for nausea and vomiting associated with most cancers chemotherapy. Its lively component is dronabinol, a artificial delta-nine- tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). (3) A single of the main proponents of medical marijuana is the Marijuana Plan Project (MPP), a US-based mostly firm. Numerous health care expert societies and businesses have expressed their assistance. As an example, The American School of Physicians, advisable a re-analysis of the Routine I classification of marijuana in their 2008 situation paper. ACP also expresses its powerful support for investigation into the therapeutic role of cannabis as nicely as exemption from federal criminal prosecution civil liability or expert sanctioning for doctors who prescribe or dispense health-related marijuana in accordance with state legislation. Likewise, defense from criminal or civil penalties for individuals who use health care marijuana as permitted underneath condition laws. (four) Health care cannabis is lawfully utilized in a lot of produced nations The argument of if they can do it, why not us? is yet another strong stage. Some nations, like Canada, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain, Israel, and Finland have legalized the therapeutic use of marijuana beneath rigorous prescription management. Some states in the US are also enabling exemptions. Now below are the arguments from medical marijuana. (one) Deficiency of information on basic safety and efficacy. Drug regulation is based on basic safety first. The protection of marijuana and its components nevertheless has to 1st be established. Efficacy only comes next. Even if marijuana has some advantageous overall health consequences, the positive aspects need to outweigh the risks for it to be regarded for healthcare use. Except if marijuana is confirmed to be better (safer and far more powerful) than drugs at present obtainable in the market, its acceptance for health care use may be a long shot. According to the testimony of Robert J. Meyer of the Section of Well being and Human Services getting obtain to a drug or medical therapy, with out knowing how to use it or even if it is powerful, does not reward anybody. Simply getting entry, without getting basic safety, efficacy, and sufficient use data does not help patients. (2) Mysterious chemical factors. Health care cannabis can only be very easily obtainable and affordable in herbal kind. Like other herbs, marijuana falls underneath the class of botanical goods. Unpurified botanical goods, nevertheless, encounter several problems including lot-to-lot regularity, dosage perseverance, efficiency, shelf-life, and toxicity. In accordance to the IOM report if there is any long term of marijuana as a medicine, it lies in its isolated factors, the cannabinoids and their artificial derivatives. To fully characterize the diverse components of cannabis would price so much time and cash that the costs of the medicines that will arrive out of it would be too higher. At the moment, no pharmaceutical company appears interested in investing money to isolate much more therapeutic factors from marijuana over and above what is already available in the market. (three) Possible for abuse. Cannabis or hashish is addictive. It may not be as addictive as difficult medicines these kinds of as cocaine nevertheless it cannot be denied that there is a prospective for material abuse connected with marijuana. This has been demonstrated by a number of research as summarized in the IOM report. (4) Absence of a secure shipping technique. The most frequent form of supply of marijuana is by way of smoking cigarettes. Considering the existing traits in anti-smoking cigarettes legislations, this type of supply will in no way be authorized by wellness authorities. Reputable and protected delivery systems in the form of vaporizers, nebulizers, or inhalers are even now at the testing phase. (five) Symptom alleviation, not remedy. Even if cannabis has therapeutic consequences, it is only addressing the indicators of certain conditions. It does not take care of or heal these sicknesses. Provided that it is effective towards these signs, there are currently medicines offered which perform just as nicely or even greater, without the side effects and threat of abuse connected with cannabis. The 1999 IOM report could not settle the debate about health care cannabis with scientific evidence offered at that time. The report absolutely discouraged the use of smoked marijuana but gave a nod in direction of cannabis use by means of a health care inhaler or vaporizer. In addition, the report also recommended the compassionate use of marijuana below rigorous healthcare supervision. Moreover, it urged much more funding in the analysis of the protection and efficacy of cannabinoids. So what stands in the way of clarifying the questions brought up by the IOM report? The wellness authorities do not seem to be to be fascinated in having an additional assessment. There is minimal information offered and whatsoever is available is biased toward security problems on the adverse outcomes of smoked cannabis. Knowledge offered on efficacy largely appear from scientific studies on artificial cannabinoids (e.g. THC). This disparity in data helps make an goal chance-advantage assessment challenging. Medical scientific studies on marijuana are number of and tough to perform thanks to limited funding and rigorous regulations. Due to the fact of the difficult legalities associated, extremely few pharmaceutical businesses are investing in cannabinoid research. In several situations, it is not distinct how to define health-related cannabis as advocated and opposed by many teams. Does it only refer to the use of the botanical product cannabis or does it include synthetic cannabinoid factors (e.g. THC and derivatives) as properly? Synthetic cannabinoids (e.g. Marinol) obtainable in the market place are incredibly costly, pushing folks in direction of the far more reasonably priced cannabinoid in the sort of marijuana. Of training course, the problem is more clouded by conspiracy theories involving the pharmaceutical sector and drug regulators.

AI CITY Will Pave the Way For the Cities of Tomorrow
Cities often represent growth in mankind’s collective wisdom. The goal of every great city is to be built with the highest quality resources available and make use of the newest and most innovative technologies.
In the ancient city of Rome in the 1st century AD, the use of early hydro technologies allowed the population to flourish. Hydro power was one of the most widely used examples, generating mechanical energy through massive waterwheels. Furthermore, a highly developed water supply and drainage system provided ample clean water every day. They would collect the water and store it in large reservoirs by redirecting subsurface water from nearby rivers and lakes into artificial channels called ‘aqueducts’. This system was so effective that their water supply actually exceeded population demand. It was able to support households, gardening, water shows, mill grinding and the great Roman fountains we still see in use today. The Romans could even use the waterways as escape routes or in complex military strategies.
These innovations were magnificent. They laid the foundation for the incredibly rich, vibrant cities we live in today. Over 2,000 years later, our idea of innovation has shifted. Instead of aqueducts, we are working with the invisible networks of 5G, big data, Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI).
Let’s set the stage. Morning sunbeams stretch slowly over a city silhouette, as the light reaches out into every corner of this X-Tech city. The residential roads are bordered by lush greenery as dewdrops slide from the highest tree leaves down onto solar panel laden rooftops, then to their final resting place in the grass. There is a heartbeat - not just within the surrounding nature - but witihin the structures themselves. As the dewdrops fall, the solar panels adjust themselves, ever so slightly, so water can slide into the gutters and reach the plants below. As sunlight hits the houses, bedroom windows adjust their opacity to allow the natural light to wake sleepy residents. Once light has filled the room, an AI virtual housekeeper selects your breakfast, matches your outfit with the weather, and presents a full schedule of your day. After breakfast, you step into your intelligent, fully-automated vehicle, and begin your intercity commute cities browsing global market news - recommended by an algorithm, of course!
This is not some SciFi pipedream, but a glance at the plans for an upcoming AI CITY. As early as 1992, Singapore proposed an plan known as the "Intelligent Island" in an attempt to create a country powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning. Subsequently, the Korean government proposed the "U-Korea" strategy in 2004, hoping to use the Internet and wireless sensors to transform Korea into a smart society.
In 2008, IBM first proposed the "Smarter Planet” initiative, and then formally rolled out the concept of "Smarter Cities" in 2010. Since then, there has been momentum toward creating "smart cities" around the world.
In 2013, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China led the establishment of the China Smart City Industry Alliance and planned to invest RMB 500 billion in the next few years to build smart cities. In 2015, the US government proposed a new smart city initiative to actively deploy smart grids, smart transportation and broadband.
Cities are effectively giant machines that must run 24/7. People need this machine in excellent working order every day to protect and transport people and resources for different purposes – big and small. These tasks range from keeping public order to repairing broken manhole covers. Smart cities seek to connect all these details of city life to the Internet and Cloud, applying IoT, AI, 5G, big data and other new ICT technologies to optimize operational efficiency of these giant machines.
The AI CITY is the next generation smart cities, and its scope is more sophisticated than merely connecting devices. The key innovation lies in the role of artificial intelligence in its infrastructure, which will allow devices to operate on their own. This will ultimately allow the city to better manage its people and resources.
Europe and the United States had an early start in the development of smart cities. In London, investments in smart city infrastructure such as the Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and blockchain have reached GBP 1.3 trillion. These investments were largely used in building smart grids, smart streets, smart transportation and other municipal projects. As an example, let’s look at London’s West End. Using GIS, CAD and 3D virtual technology, the area has been transformed into a hub of data generating buildings. Around 45,000 buildings within an area of nearly 20 sq.km are now utilizing internet-connected, data-generating devices in the West End. It’s a prime example of an urban geo-information system offering optimized looks into landscape design, traffic control, sustainability, emergency management and more.
New York has also benefited from a smart urban technology. More specifically, the city implemented a smart grid project where Con Edison, an electricity utilities company, automated and upgraded more than one-third of New York’s power grid to prevent any single accident from causing damage to the entire grid.
Moving geographies, the number of smart city developments in the East have outpaced the West. Both Japan and South Korea have used smart city technology to focus on resource allocation in their most densely populated cities. Seoul has established an integrated transportation system that uses smart cameras in subways to obtain information on passenger volume, and adjust the speed and frequency of trains in real time accordingly. It also installed sensors to monitor important train components to proactively prevent malfunctions. In Yokohama, the Smart Environment Project has deployed a series of advanced energy management systems in households and commercial buildings to "visualize" energy. Solar power solutions and home energy management systems were installed which allowed crucial energy data to be displayed. Now municipal officials could track power generation, power consumption and power sales.
Currently, China enjoys the fastest development of smart cities and has the highest abundancy of smart communities and AI technology in the world. More than 40% of global smart city projects are currently under construction in China. In Chongqing, a metropolis in southwest China, Terminus - an innovator in artificial intelligence, internet of things, and robotics - is building a smart city with a total gross floor area of 2,500,000 sqm. The company plans to use its suite of AI and IoT technologies to upgrade the sustainability, operations and visitor experience of the city. It will also empower traditional industries with new ICT technologies to create the world's first model of an AI CITY which incorporates all types of businesses and diversified industrial chains.
The Catalyst for AI CITY Implementation: Competition among the World's Top Tech Companies
Although the government plays an important role in planning and building an AI CITY, the true drivers of smart city innovation are the world's top technology companies.
IBM, the first major player in the smart city space, applied different functional modules such as smart healthcare, smart transportation, smart education, smart energy, and smart telecommunication to hundreds of cities across the globe. It collected a large quantity of data and integrated it into the city's main operational management centers.
However, given that cloud computing and AI technologies were not salient during this period, IBM was not able to effectively roll out its “Smarter Cities” initiative. Its solutions were frequently turned down by municipal governments due to the immense investment costs overshadowing the benefits gained from the new technology.
As a world-renowned network provider, Cisco has developed another angle on smart cities. Instead of undertaking mammoth projects like integrating smart technology across entire cities, Cisco’s strategy focuses on establishing smaller smart communities and driving change from the bottom up. In Copenhagen, it helped the city become carbon neutral; in Hamburg, it played a role in establishing a fully digital network and IT strategy that enabled an integrated management of land and marine transportation.
Meanwhile, Siemens, a global leading industrial manufacturer, has been working on smart grid solutions to help cities optimize their energy storage. Centralizing their strategy around smart grids allows for meaningful connections between smart buildings, electric transportation, smart meters, power generation, etc. It allows the company to integrate and upgrade an existing system as opposed to building out an entirely new system from scratch. It is an effective way to test out the new IoT technologies without generating tremendous risk to the city’s existing infrastructure.
The AI CITY ecosystem in China has benefitted tremendously from these existing projects. Chinese companies have been able to learn from the development of these global projects and combine the existing frameworks with emerging technologies like 5G, big data, cloud computing, AI and intelligent hardware R&D. This has provided an edge when constructing new smart city projects domestically.
Terminus, a leading global smart service provider, is one company taking full advantage of this opportunity. Terminus aims to shape the next generation of technology with AI and IoT, and has emerged as an industry integrator, achieving full coverage from a suite of products from service robots and sensors to edge smart products, all the way to cloud platforms. Terminus’ AI CITY solution is scene-oriented. It utilises the company's many years of experience in the AIoT industry to bring solutions for social management, energy efficiency improvement, smart parks, cultural innovation and smart finance to communities and cities. It has implemented and maintained more than 8,000 smart scenes in 84 cities.
Terminus’ AI CITY smart solutions are used to enhance traditional offline spaces. Shopping malls, for example, have several areas where operational efficiency could be better optimized. Terminus’ smart solutions allow malls to find these optimal points by collecting multi-dimensional data related to people, goods, stores, and orders. Their solutions provide digital operational tools for each functional unit of the mall. This allows customers to have a more reliable and enjoyable shopping experience. As an added benefit, by tapping into rich  data, the shopping mall is able to achieve higher sales conversion, higher per capita sales and higher inventory turnover.
Terminus’ intelligent fire protection solution tells another positive story in favour of developing smart technologies. Terminus is able to leverage artificial intelligence to create a system of automated fire prevention and control. It lowers risk to firefighters and law enforcement while increasing preventative measures for structure fires. Terminus uses GPS, GIS, BIM and other geographic location information systems to map firehouses and fire law enforcement units in real-time. As a result, responders can reach the scene more efficiently by triangulating the closest available units. This solution also provides tooling for conducting data queries, pulling statistics, general analysis, decision-making, and intelligent identification of fire origins. The information is stored in data warehouses which can be mined and analyzed as needed.
Unlike the bottom-up strategies that other technology companies have used to promote smart city construction, Terminus has taken a top-down approach for scaling their solutions. Terminus aims to build science and technology industry parks by integrating its industrial resources. It also aims to enrich and improve its solutions by exploring diverse use cases. By continuing to grow within local smart city operations, Terminus has seized an opportunity to shape core frameworks for future smart cities. It stands to profit from the growing demand for smart technologies, while also contributing to a more sustainable world.
What Else Can We Do to Find the Way to AI CITY
The map to a sustainable AI CITY is unfolding at an unprecedented rate. Two players will influence the continued development of smart cities: governments and industry-leading companies.
For governments, it is essential to support in the planning and development of an AI CITY. Most importantly, they must consider the opinions and well-being of their citizens.  London is an excellent example. The Greater London Authority developed an online community called "Talk London" to provide a safe space for online discussion, voting, Q&A, surveys, and more to cover impactful topics ranging from private rental markets to the safety of cyclists around large trucks. This process allows London citizens to participate in government decision-making. As a result, the policies formulated by the government often more accurately reflect the real needs of its people. In comparison, Google's Toronto Smart City Plan was recently under fire as it went against the needs of the local residents.
In closing, it would seem industry-leading companies will be tasked with shouldering more social responsibility. There is a clear commitment from these entities to contribute to technological progress, cultivate highly skilled professionals, and grow their brand. However, there is a crucial role to be played in popularizing and building out legitimate use cases for these new cities. These companies must extend the range of their considerations beyond just technology to those that will be using it. Innovation comes with the innate responsibility to better the lives of people around the globe. If the smart city and AI CITY models can embrace this notion, the future will be brighter than ever before.

Commercial & Residential Services
1.Landscaping
Tumblr media
Landscaping services are typically provided by landscapers who specialise in designing and maintaining residential landscapes. These professionals may design and install gardens, shrubs, trees, fences, patios, pools, water features, and many other landscape elements. They may also perform routine maintenance tasks, including trimming bushes and shrubs, pruning trees, removing weeds, mowing lawns, and applying fertiliser.
Also read this article: Commercial & Residential Services.

Simply Hydroponics
Yukon Gold potatoes had been sub-irrigated with nutrient answer and offered both minimal or no commercial growing medium. Seed items were either positioned on a paper towel wick over an upside-down nursery tray and covered with dry grass or lined with 250 ml of growing medium plus dry grass. Net pots with direct-seeded watercress were placed in floating extruded polystyrene boards. In a rainshelter at 1200 m elevation, the first harvest at forty three days was 1.75 kg/sq m and a ratoon crop after 35 days yielded four.79 kg/ sq m. Placing a 70% shade screen over the plots resulted in a 65% yield decrease, however a reemay cowl increased yields by 17%.
Tumblr media
Organic compounds aren't necessary for regular plant nutrition. Some organic materials (i.e. notably manures and offal) can further degrade to emit foul odors under anaerobic conditions. In a industrial setting, watering frequency is multi-factorial and ruled read more by computers or PLCs. Produce nutritious crops with out the necessity of pesticides or chemical substances. Personalize your garden with the Wooden Trellis Screen & Planter System. Continental, Lebanese and cocktail varieties all carry out exceptionally properly in Galuku substrate.
I knew growers within the United States may obtain a far better quality product with much less stress on distribution. The outcomes indicated that the 70% ETc therapy obtained the highest crop yield adopted by ETc, FI, and TI treatments, respectively. On average, cucumber yield underneath 70% ETc therapy was 24%, 6% and 4% greater than that under TI, FI and ETc remedies, respectively. At the end of harvesting stage plant height, above-ground dry matter obtained by 70% ETc treatment was larger than the opposite therapies. The smallest plant top and dry matter was obtained under TI remedy.
So, the goal is to current to you an overview of crop yields and schedules. Adverse temperature, extreme soil moisture, and poor diet have also been advised as causes. Remove severely curved fruit from the plant as quickly as potential. Cover seeded containers with clear polyethylene movie until emergence to enhance soil temperature and moisture situations. "I am at present experimenting with a small plot of land to grow cucumber before venturing into it on a large scale.
Continued, timely harvest keeps the plants in a productive mode since cucumber plants have a limit to the variety of fruits they will support any instance. Growers harvest by both clipping the fruit stem or twisting the stem. The twisting technique seems to minimize back the amount of exuding sap through the stem. Greenhouse cucumber plants have very large leaves, develop vigorously, and require massive amounts of daylight (Fig. 2). Under good sunlight conditions, every plant must be offered 5 to 7 square toes of greenhouse house.
In your personal home I would suggest that you just not carry the crop more than 3 months as it will get very tough to train and production falls tremendously with the plant age, especially beneath artificial lighting. Transplant one European cucumber per pot with two drip emitters per pot. Place one at the fringe of the rockwool block and the other beside the plant .
The harvested fruit ought to be cooled after harvest to reduce water loss. The most popular cucumbers grown hydroponically in greenhouses are the “European” or “Long English” cucumbers . Other cucumbers turning into more and more in demand are the Beit Alpha , Japanese or Persian pickle cucumbers . They are much like the European cucumbers, however smaller in dimension, usually 4- to 6-inches in size compared to the European ones that average from 12- to 14-inches. These cucumbers are all seedless and “burpless” in nature with thin skins that do not require their peeling earlier than serving in salads. Due to their thin skins, they lose moisture quickly so should be shrink wrapped to stop weight reduction.
At 55 degrees to 60 levels F, savings in gasoline prices shall be significant, however development rate will be slower and harvest shall be delayed. The reported outcomes are typical for practically any plant. Said another method, to provide the whole variety of tomatoes consumed annually in Canada requires 25,000 acres of soil. We sow European cucumbers across the first of February when our greenhouse setting is extra spring-like. One seed per 3-inch peat pot will present sufficient room for early plant improvement. Make positive you sow cucumbers in peat pots and never in flats because cucurbit root methods shouldn't be disrupted.
The plant is normally only able to supporting 3 to four fruit at any given time. When the highest of the plant reaches the overhead help cable, reduce it off after allowing two facet shoots to form above the wire . No fruit must be allowed to set the place the laterals will develop. Attach these side shoots over the wire with a plant clip and permit them to fall down alongside the side of the primary stem of the plant.

How to Have a Lush Yard Without Using Too Much Water
By Sarah Fowler | September 20, 2021 | The Washington Post
Tumblr media
Plants native to the Southeastern United States are seen at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Bridgewater garden in Manchester, England. (Felder Rushing)
If you love the aesthetic of a full, brightly colored lawn but are worried about water consumption or live in a drought-prone area, conscientious planting and a few simple steps can help create a luscious look without water waste.
Across the United States, native plants have become an increasingly popular landscaping option, particularly in drier areas. Although they can grow beautifully without a lot of maintenance in the right areas, climate and soil nutrients affect their growth, so native plants aren’t a one-size-fits-all option, even within one state.
“Depending on where you are — on the Gulf Coast, in Maryland, California, wherever you are — native becomes something different just over a couple of hundred miles,” says world-renowned master gardener and author Felder Rushing. For example, Texas bluebonnets are native to the state but don’t typically bloom in Houston, Rushing says, because that area gets too much rainfall. But travel 50 miles north, and bluebonnets abound.
Native Isn't Always Best
You don’t need to be tied to the idea that you can only use native plants. If the climate is suitable, native plants don’t always have to stay where they originated to thrive, Rushing says. Instead of calling them native, the famed horticulturist refers to those as “locally adapted plants.”
Rushing recommends native plants from Africa for growing in hot, dry climates, for example. “Okra is a vegetable that will grow with no care at all,” he says. “Rather than choosing native plants, look at the plants that do well . . . and use those as your backbone plants.”
Rushing recently visited the Royal Horticultural Society’s Bridgewater garden in Manchester, England. Eighty percent of the plants in its larger displays were native to the Southeastern United States, he says.
“They’re using them because they work well and they have extra benefits,” he says. “It’s like growing a plant because it’s an heirloom. We don’t grow plants because they’re heirlooms; we grow plants because it worked well long enough that they become heirlooms. ‘Native’ and ‘heirloom’ are artificial construct words. We’re looking for good, durable plants that just happen to have a history of doing well.”
Use Local Grass, and Water With Care
In the Western United States, where irrigation is the norm, native grass will perform better, says master gardener Mike Hauser, who works with the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension.
Specific to Arizona, galleta, sand dropseed, Indian rice grass and grama grass are better for growing during a drought than fescue, rye and Kentucky bluegrass, Hauser says. In addition to what type of grass you choose, water conservation can come from learning how often your lawn needs to be watered.
“People too often just put their sprinkler timer on and let it go,” he says. “The question is: How do you know when the plant needs water?” Because many people don’t have a soil probe lying around, Hauser recommends taking a long-shafted screwdriver and sticking it in the soil. If the screwdriver slides in “like a hot knife in butter,” the soil is still holding moisture and doesn’t need to be watered. When the screwdriver shaft doesn’t go farther than an inch before hitting dry soil, it’s time to water.
“That’s the key,” he says. “When you water and how much you water is only half of the equation. The other half of the equation that people very, very seldom engage in is: How much water is my plant using, so that I know when to water it again?”
Hauser has found that people will give their lawns a quick watering in the morning and evening, but that can be a wasted effort that wets the soil’s surface and doesn’t get to the roots. With the screwdriver method, you’re watering less, but, he noted, “you’re giving it a good, deep soaking.”
Particularly in drier climates, the soil surface dries out first. So if you’re only watering the first half-inch of your lawn, the roots will be in the first half-inch. However, if you’re watering down five or six inches, that’s where the roots will be, and they’ll be safer from the dryness caused by dry climate damage.
If you’re watering with a sprinkler system, don’t forget to adjust your timer. Plants don’t need as much water when the weather cools off, but the typical homeowner doesn’t adjust that timer throughout the year, Hauser says. Doing so not only helps your lawn or your plants, but it also decreases your water consumption.
Forgo a Blanket of Grass
In northern Arizona, where Hauser lives, precipitation is between about 12 to 14 inches a year, with half of the rainfall in the winter and half in the summer months, so continuous ground cover isn’t common.
“If you’re using city water, it’s fairly expensive. . . . Most all of the ground cover that people have here is a little bit of a lawn in their front yard or their backyard; there’s not a lot of landscaping for ground cover.”
Some homeowners have chosen to forgo grass entirely, he says, leaving exposed soil or choosing to landscape with shrubby or decorative rocks.
Speaking at an event in West Texas recently, Rushing recommended that people put one sprinkler in the middle of their yard. Then, wherever the water hits, “that’s all the lawn you need,” he said. “You can have a lot of beauty in a lawn that’s not much bigger than a carport if it’s surrounded by whatever naturally covers the ground in the countryside, which could be gravel or sand, native plants. Limit the size of the lawn, and make it where it’s a shining gem, and then accessorize it with plants that do well in that area.”
Planting How-to
Here are tips on creating a garden or lawn that looks great but doesn’t require a lot of water. And don’t forget: You can also contact your local extension office. It’s a great resource, usually with a free list of locally well-adapted plants.
Don’t Look to Your Neighbors For Guidance. Get out of the suburbs. Rushing recommends driving around your area and finding old farmhouses or visiting cemeteries. If a plant grows in a cemetery, it will grow anywhere, he says. By “looking outside of suburbia,” you can find trees, shrubs and flowers that grow well with little to no care.
“Don’t look in the suburbs for ideas, because suburbs have a lot of irrigation,” Rushing says. “See what’s doing well in gardens that don’t have irrigation systems.”
In cemeteries, you’ll often find a tree, two or three shrubs, and four of five perennials scattered throughout. Pull those together in one spot in your yard, grouping similar shapes and sizes close to each other, and “it looks like you know what you’re doing,” Rushing says.
He adds: “It’s like a bouquet. It’s like Rumpelstiltskin, weaving golden garments out of common straw.”
Less Is More. Groups and combinations of accent plants can go a long way.
“Don’t feel like you have to have wall-to-wall plants,” Rushing says. “You don’t have to have a green mustache of worms hugging your foundation. A few accent plants here and there create a focal point without you having to do unnecessary water or pruning or fertilizing. You don’t have to have all of those plants that Grandmama put around her house.”
Rushing adds that having plants all around the base of your home is a style from the 1930s and doesn’t work in hot, dry climates.
If you’re just starting out, Rushing has this advice: “Think home cooking. Anybody can make a home-cooked meal, but we start out thinking it’s got to look like something a chef made. Think home cooking and not fine dining, and you can do it.”

How California homeowners are trying to save their fire insurance
Susan Hassett did everything possible to convince the insurance companies that their Yolo County ranch could survive wildfire.
After Allstate told the retired firefighter in 2017 that the devastating fires across the state meant her home was too risky to insure, she spent three years calling every competitor begging them to come out and see how she had hardened the ranch.
If they had, they would have seen the bushes she’d cleaned, all the felled toys, manzanita and wild lilac, and the grass their horses had eaten to the ground. They would have noticed the 300 meter long strip that she had hacked free on the north side of their property. She trusted that the west side would be protected by the Blue Ridge Mountains; Fires shouldn’t burn downhill.
Susan Hassett leaves the area to live out of state after her ranch was burned by the LNU fire in November 2020. (Courtesy Susan Hassett)
For all their work, the Hassett industry would not recognize their efforts.
“Where is this reward system?” she demanded. “Why don’t we promote this?”
Instead of hedging, it became a tragic example of why insurers are so reluctant to insure even the most prudent homeowner: Last summer, the LNU Complex Fire destroyed their ranch. Without insurance, she lost everything, including her home, truck, and the only wedding photo she had of her parents.
“I’ve laughed through my tears many, many times,” said Hassett, 70, a retired fire science instructor.
As forest fire insurance premiums skyrocket, researchers, consumer advocates and industry leaders alike are scrambling to incorporate the tougher efforts of homeowners into insurance prices. But without hard data, it is a mystery how much a given measure reduces the risk of a house fire.
Tumblr media

In 2019 alone, after two years of devastating fires that killed about 150 people and damaged or destroyed more than 34,000 homes, businesses, and other buildings in Northern California, insurance companies dropped the policies of about 230,000 homeowners in the state, a spike of 31% compared to the previous year. And between 2017 and 2020, the state approved more than $ 1 billion in insurance premium increases, according to the state insurance department.
“The whole California risk map has changed forever, and the only way to address it is by allowing people to make their homes less prone to burns and to be rewarded for keeping their insurance at an affordable price “Said Amy Bach, executive director of the United Policeholders consumer group. “Nobody wants to lose their home, and insurance companies certainly don’t like it when people claim thousands of dollars.”
Tumblr media
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – JUNE 25: Amy Bach, executive director of United Policyholders, poses for a photo at her home in San Francisco, Calif. On Friday, June 25, 2021. (Ray Chavez / Bay Area News Group)
In a rare show of unity, Rex Frazier, president of the Personal Insurance Federation of California, which represents insurers, agreed: “This is certainly the long-term solution,” he said of the containment effort. “There’s no doubt about that.”
The problem lies in the research. It may seem counterintuitive for experts to know what protects homes, but insurance companies cannot attribute dollar value to these efforts. But although experts know that there are certain things that help protect buildings – having a fire-rated roof, using non-combustible materials in your house, removing weeds and bushes in your garden, cleaning gutters and roofs of plant debris, metal mesh To be installed over ventilation openings to block flying embers – it is the specificity that is lacking.
Max Moritz, Wildfire Specialist at the University of California Cooperative Extension at the Bren School in Santa Barbara, gave a hypothetical example of fire-resistant roofs: Perhaps one study finds a statistically significant risk reduction of 5%, but another a 25% reduction. On that basis, researchers could recommend people replace their wooden roofs, but it would be difficult to attribute a dollar value to this risk reduction.
“We know that a lot is a step in the right direction, but we have very little information on which to base an actual figure,” said Moritz.
Some are already making these assumptions, albeit to a limited extent. In May, eight insurers, which make up about 13% of the market, are offering discounts based on home or community mitigation measures.
Some carriers that are not approved by the state insurance department also take their risk, such as: B. Delos Insurance, which includes fire protection measures in its artificial intelligence based algorithm to determine the eligibility of a person. As with the rest of the industry, Delos’ algorithms are not at the point where they can offer certain discounts for certain mitigation efforts.
All eyes are on research leaders like the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety for the final numbers. According to Roy Wright, the institute’s president and CEO, the lack of research stems from the fact that insurance companies only recorded catastrophic losses from fire disbursements in 2017 and 2018, after which the institute ramped up its research.
Forest fires also present a unique challenge, Wright said. For example, if a homeowner is trying to protect themselves from flooding, an increase in their home may be enough to reduce most of the risk. When it comes to fire, there are many more levels of complexity.
Wright checked off a few fire magnets: decks, mulch, old structures, tree tops, a neighbor’s kitchen less than 10 yards from a house. A weakness – an ember, a flame – can mean total disaster for a home. Because of this, he envisions that homeowners would need to take a number of around 10 steps to significantly reduce the risk.
Hassett, the retired firefighter, understands the challenge that still burns from the memory of the fires that tear down the Blue Ridge Mountains and detonate the 70-foot-tall Ponderosa pines like fireworks on their way. To this day she is annoyed because she did not install a sprinkler on her roof.
She doesn’t have the energy – or insurance – to rebuild and instead has left the state to be closer to her children. But even today she can sometimes be found on her ranch, where she grows irrigation and fire-resistant plants and is still committed to fire safety.
“There are a lot of things I have to be upset about, but they were out of my control,” she said. “And if I can always remember it from this point of view, I am like the phoenix rising from the ashes.”

Health care Marijuana - The Debate Rages On
Cannabis is also identified as pot, grass and weed but its formal title is in fact cannabis. It will come from the leaves and bouquets of the plant Hashish sativa. It is deemed an illegal material in the US and several international locations and possession of cannabis is a crime punishable by regulation. The Fda classifies cannabis as Routine I, substances which have a quite large potential for abuse and have no proven health care use. In excess of the several years many studies declare that some substances identified in cannabis have medicinal use, especially in terminal ailments such as cancer and AIDS. This started a fierce discussion over the professionals and downsides of the use of healthcare cannabis. To settle this discussion, the Institute of Drugs published the popular 1999 IOM report entitled Marijuana and Drugs: Evaluating the Science Foundation. The report was thorough but did not give a distinct minimize sure or no answer. The opposite camps of the healthcare marijuana situation usually cite element of the report in their advocacy arguments. Even so, even though the report clarified a lot of items, it never ever settled the controversy when and for all. Let us seem at the concerns that assistance why health-related cannabis ought to be legalized. (one) Marijuana is a naturally transpiring herb and has been employed from South The us to Asia as an organic medicine for millennia. raw garden carts In this day and age when the all normal and natural and organic are crucial overall health buzzwords, a normally taking place herb like cannabis may be much more interesting to and safer for consumers than artificial medication. (two) Marijuana has sturdy therapeutic possible. A number of research, as summarized in the IOM report, have observed that cannabis can be employed as analgesic, e.g. to handle pain. A number of research showed that THC, a cannabis part is effective in managing chronic ache knowledgeable by cancer sufferers. Even so, scientific studies on acute ache such as people seasoned during surgical treatment and trauma have inconclusive reviews. A few reports, also summarized in the IOM report, have demonstrated that some marijuana factors have antiemetic houses and are, therefore, powerful from nausea and vomiting, which are typical side effects of cancer chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Some researchers are convinced that cannabis has some therapeutic possible against neurological conditions this sort of as multiple sclerosis. Certain compounds extracted from marijuana have strong therapeutic potential. Cannobidiol (CBD), a major element of marijuana, has been proven to have antipsychotic, anticancer and antioxidant homes. Other cannabinoids have been revealed to prevent higher intraocular force (IOP), a main threat factor for glaucoma. Drugs that incorporate energetic substances present in marijuana but have been synthetically created in the laboratory have been accepted by the US Fda. One particular illustration is Marinol, an antiemetic agent indicated for nausea and vomiting linked with most cancers chemotherapy. Its energetic component is dronabinol, a synthetic delta-nine- tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). (three) One particular of the major proponents of health-related cannabis is the Marijuana Coverage Venture (MPP), a US-based business. A lot of health care specialist societies and businesses have expressed their support. As an example, The American University of Doctors, advisable a re-analysis of the Timetable I classification of cannabis in their 2008 position paper. ACP also expresses its sturdy assistance for study into the therapeutic part of marijuana as properly as exemption from federal prison prosecution civil legal responsibility or expert sanctioning for doctors who prescribe or dispense medical cannabis in accordance with condition legislation. In the same way, protection from felony or civil penalties for sufferers who use medical marijuana as permitted beneath condition legal guidelines. (four) Health-related marijuana is legally utilised in many produced countries The argument of if they can do it, why not us? is an additional robust point. Some international locations, such as Canada, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain, Israel, and Finland have legalized the therapeutic use of marijuana beneath strict prescription handle. Some states in the US are also permitting exemptions. Now listed here are the arguments from health-related cannabis. (1) Deficiency of knowledge on security and efficacy. Drug regulation is based on basic safety first. The safety of cannabis and its elements nonetheless has to very first be proven. Efficacy only arrives next. Even if marijuana has some helpful wellness outcomes, the positive aspects ought to outweigh the risks for it to be deemed for healthcare use. Unless cannabis is proven to be greater (safer and a lot more effective) than medication currently obtainable in the industry, its acceptance for health care use could be a extended shot. According to the testimony of Robert J. Meyer of the Division of Well being and Human Providers obtaining accessibility to a drug or medical therapy, without having being aware of how to use it or even if it is effective, does not advantage any individual. Simply possessing access, with no obtaining safety, efficacy, and adequate use data does not help sufferers. (two) Unknown chemical factors. Health-related marijuana can only be simply accessible and inexpensive in organic sort. Like other herbs, cannabis falls beneath the classification of botanical products. Unpurified botanical items, however, encounter a lot of troubles which includes great deal-to-good deal regularity, dosage willpower, efficiency, shelf-lifestyle, and toxicity. According to the IOM report if there is any long term of marijuana as a medication, it lies in its isolated parts, the cannabinoids and their artificial derivatives. To fully characterize the diverse factors of marijuana would cost so a lot time and funds that the expenses of the medications that will come out of it would be too high. Presently, no pharmaceutical organization would seem fascinated in investing money to isolate more therapeutic components from cannabis beyond what is currently obtainable in the market. (three) Possible for abuse. Marijuana or cannabis is addictive. It might not be as addictive as tough medications such as cocaine even so it cannot be denied that there is a possible for compound abuse linked with cannabis. This has been demonstrated by a few studies as summarized in the IOM report. (4) Deficiency of a secure delivery program. The most widespread sort of shipping and delivery of marijuana is by means of smoking. Thinking about the recent developments in anti-smoking cigarettes legislations, this type of shipping will never ever be accepted by well being authorities. Reputable and secure shipping methods in the type of vaporizers, nebulizers, or inhalers are even now at the screening phase. (5) Symptom alleviation, not heal. Even if marijuana has therapeutic effects, it is only addressing the signs of specific illnesses. It does not handle or remedy these sicknesses. Offered that it is effective against these symptoms, there are presently prescription drugs offered which work just as properly or even better, without having the aspect effects and danger of abuse associated with cannabis. The 1999 IOM report could not settle the debate about health-related marijuana with scientific evidence offered at that time. The report absolutely discouraged the use of smoked cannabis but gave a nod in direction of cannabis use through a health-related inhaler or vaporizer. In addition, the report also advisable the compassionate use of cannabis beneath rigorous health care supervision. Additionally, it urged a lot more funding in the investigation of the protection and efficacy of cannabinoids. So what stands in the way of clarifying the concerns introduced up by the IOM report? The wellness authorities do not look to be intrigued in obtaining another assessment. There is restricted information offered and what ever is obtainable is biased in the direction of protection problems on the adverse results of smoked cannabis. Data obtainable on efficacy primarily come from reports on artificial cannabinoids (e.g. THC). This disparity in info tends to make an aim chance-reward evaluation difficult. Medical studies on marijuana are couple of and challenging to conduct thanks to constrained funding and stringent regulations. Because of the challenging legalities associated, extremely number of pharmaceutical businesses are investing in cannabinoid research. In numerous situations, it is not distinct how to determine health care cannabis as advocated and opposed by several teams. Does it only refer to the use of the botanical item cannabis or does it include synthetic cannabinoid parts (e.g. THC and derivatives) as properly? Artificial cannabinoids (e.g. Marinol) offered in the market are really expensive, pushing folks towards the a lot more affordable cannabinoid in the kind of marijuana. Of course, the concern is additional clouded by conspiracy theories involving the pharmaceutical industry and drug regulators.

Thе bеѕt way tо gо аbоut thiѕ iѕ bу locating a manufacturer оr rеtаilеr thаt dеѕignѕ аnd/оr mаnufасturеѕ ѕуnthеtiс grass ѕресifiсаllу fоr оutѕidе play аrеаѕ. Sуnthеtiс turf thаt iѕ safe fоr mаjоr playground ѕhоuld be specific, rаthеr than gеnеrаl. It nееdѕ tо be durаblе, аnd, аbоvе аll; ѕаfе. Fоr inѕtаnсе, роlуеthуlеnе iѕ resilient аnd able tо withѕtаnd high-traffic, аll-wеаthеr uѕе, уеt iѕ forgiving and ѕоft еnоugh tо bе safe, protecting children frоm injuriеѕ.
Dоеѕ thе аrtifiсiаl grass hаvе оutdооr-rеаdу рrореrtiеѕ?
Nоt only should thе ѕуnthеtiс grass уоu choose bе ѕресiаllу designed for оutѕidе рlау аrеаѕ, it should also have ѕресifiс properties thаt mаkе it ѕuitаblе for оutdооr uѕе. Thе аrtifiсiаl grass рrоduсt ѕhоuld be аblе tо withstand heat аnd аirbоrnе роllutаntѕ, while being UV resistant tо avoid diѕсоlоurаtiоn. Aѕ thе рrоduсt should аlѕо bе able tо hаndlе rаin, уоu’ll nееd tо lооk at рrореrtiеѕ ѕuсh аѕ аdеԛuаtе drаinаgе fеаturеѕ tо рrеvеnt рuddlеѕ and the development оf mоuld whiсh would роѕе ѕаfеtу соnсеrnѕ such аѕ ѕliррing, the grоwth оf bасtеriа аѕ well as allergic reactions.

It iѕ gеntlе аnd nоn-tоxiс, mаking it not оnlу thе ѕаfеѕt but аlѕо thе mоѕt natural lооking option.

When ѕеlесting thе mаtеriаl, don’t ѕеttlе fоr juѕt аnу type оf synthetic turf. Invеѕting in аn оutdооr, ѕресifiс product with the right infill will еnѕurе a bеаutiful, аnd mоѕt importantly, ѕаfе surface cover.
The Thousand Iѕlаndѕ – Milliоnаirеѕ’ mаjоr playground
The 1000 Iѕlаndѕ аrе in thе hеаrt of thе St. Lawrence River, running along the Cаnаdiаn and Amеriсаn sides оf thе bоrdеr from Kingston tо Cornwall in Ontаriо.
Exасtlу 1,864 Iѕlаndѕ mаkе uр the 1000 Iѕlаndѕ rеgiоn. Tо become аn official раrt оf thе соunt, аn iѕlаnd muѕt meet twо сritеriа: it muѕt be аbоvе wаtеr 365 dауѕ a year аnd it muѕt support two living trееѕ. Fеrriеѕ or bridges рrоvidе ассеѕѕ tо Wеllеѕlеу, Hill, Wоlfе and Hоwе Iѕlаndѕ. The iѕlаndѕ аrе uniԛuе, оffеring a wonderful rесrеаtiоn еxреriеnсе thаt ѕраnѕ twо nаtiоnѕ. Eасh island hаѕ itѕ own individuality with features such аѕ ѕtаtеlу grаnitе cliffs, ѕоft ѕаndу bays, tаll dаrk pines and vibrаnt maple trееѕ-it’ѕ a sightseer’s paradise. Mаnу iѕlаndѕ аrе рrivаtеlу owned but ample рubliс ассеѕѕ саn be fоund at island раrkѕ and villаgеѕ throughout the region.
It wаѕ French explorers who named thе region. Vасаtiоnеrѕ discovered the iѕlаndѕ in thе 1870ѕ, whеn wеаlthу реорlе bеgаn tо build ѕummеr homes whilе other travelers came tо ѕtау in lаrgе hоtеlѕ. Fоr more than a сеnturу the аrеа has bееn a mecca for summer viѕitоrѕ. In thе more diѕtаnt раѕt thе iѕlаndѕ wеrе stepping ѕtоnеѕ bеtwееn New Yоrk State аnd thе Prоvinсе оf Ontario-in timеѕ of trоublе between Cаnаdа аnd thе United States, a рlасе оf rеfugе аnd a setting fоr diѕrерutаblе dееdѕ during thе dауѕ оf Prоhibitiоn.
On the Canadian ѕidе the Thоuѕаnd Iѕlаndѕ Pаrkwау is оnе of thе province’s рrеttiеѕt drivеѕ and wеll wоrth the dеtоur оff the 401 frееwау. It соnnесtѕ a ѕtring of attractive riverbank соmmunitiеѕ from Kingѕtоn tо Cоrnwаll, the mоѕt nоtаblе оf which iѕ Brockville. Brосkvillе’ѕ King Strееt iѕ dоttеd with stately оld hоmеѕ inсluding the rеmаrkаblе Fulford Place, now a nаtiоnаl hiѕtоriс site. Thе rich military history of Kingston iѕ muсh in еvidеnсе, frоm thе Rоуаl Militаrу Cоllеgе, seen асrоѕѕ thе bау, tо Fоrt Hеnrу and thе 1846 Murney Mаrtеllо Tower national historic ѕitе. Fоr thе outdoor еnthuѕiаѕt thеrе iѕ thе St. Lаwrеnсе Rесrеаtiоnаl Path. Thiѕ recreational path ѕtrеtсhеѕ over 75 kmѕ, thе majority оf whiсh fоllоwѕ thе ѕhоrеlinе оf thе St. Lаwrеnсе Rivеr. Here Ontаriо аnd thе Unitеd Stаtеѕ mееt, their сulturеѕ blending in thе wаtеrѕ of thе St. Lawrence River and Lаkе Ontario, the first in the Great Lаkеѕ. The native реорlеѕ called this rеgiоn thе “Gаrdеn оf thе Great Sрirit”. Tоdау, many реорlе ѕtill rеmаrk that thiѕ gоrgеоuѕ garden оf woods аnd waters thаt iѕ thе 1000 Iѕlаndѕ iѕ trulу оnе оf thе most beautiful рlасеѕ оn thе рlаnеt. Others will tell уоu itѕ friendly аtmоѕрhеrе, frеѕh оutdооrѕ аnd lаid-bасk расе mаkеѕ thе 1000 Iѕlаndѕ a place thаt inѕрirеѕ thе ѕрirit and renews thе soul.
At thе turn-of-the-century in 1899, Gеоrgе C. Bоldt, milliоnаirе рrорriеtоr of thе world fаmоuѕ Wаldоrf Aѕtоriа Hоtеl in Nеw York Citу, ѕеt оut to build a full size Rhinеlаnd Cаѕtlе in Alеxаndriа Bay, оn Piсturеѕԛuе Hеаrt Iѕlаnd, оn thе Nеw York Stаtе ѕidе оf Lаkе Ontario. Thе grandiose structure wаѕ tо bе a diѕрlау оf hiѕ love fоr his wifе, Lоuiѕе.
Beginning in 1900, Boldt’s fаmilу shared fоur glоriоuѕ summers оn the iѕlаnd in thе Alster Tоwеr while 300 workers inсluding ѕtоnеmаѕоnѕ, саrреntеrѕ аnd аrtiѕtѕ fashioned thе ѕix ѕtоrу, 120 room castle, соmрlеtе with tunnеlѕ, a powerhouse, Itаliаn gаrdеnѕ, a drаw bridgе аnd a dоvе cote. Not a ѕinglе dеtаil оr expense wаѕ ѕраrеd. In 1904, trаgеdу ѕtruсk. Boldt tеlеgrарhеd thе island and commanded thе workers to immediately “ѕtор all construction”. Lоuiѕе had diеd ѕuddеnlу. A brоkеn hеаrtеd Bоldt could not imagine his drеаm саѕtlе withоut his bеlоvеd. Bоldt nеvеr rеturnеd to thе island, lеаving bеhind the ѕtruсturе аѕ a mоnumеnt of hiѕ lоvе. Fоr 73 уеаrѕ, the castle аnd vаriоuѕ ѕtоnе structures wеrе lеft tо thе mеrсу оf thе wind, rаin, iсе, ѕnоw аnd vаndаlѕ. Whеn thе Thоuѕаnd Islands Bridgе Authоritу асԛuirеd thе рrореrtу in 1977, it wаѕ dесidеd that thrоugh thе uѕе оf аll nеt revenues frоm thе Castle ореrаtiоn it wоuld bе preserved fоr thе еnjоуmеnt of futurе gеnеrаtiоnѕ. Sinсе 1977, several milliоn dollars hаvе bееn applied tо rehabilitating, rеѕtоring аnd imрrоving thе Hеаrt Island structures.
A vеrу pleasant wау tо explore thе 1000 iѕlаndѕ is tо tаkе a twilight hоur bоаt tour thаt unveils a bеаutу оf thе river аnd iѕlаndѕ not ѕееn at оthеr timеѕ оf thе day. These romantic tours explore a ѕесtiоn of thе iѕlаndѕ not visited during the rеgulаr day tоurѕ, inсluding thе Sроrt Island group and historical Grеnаdiеr Island, the ѕitе оf mаnу bаttlеѕ during thе Frеnсh аnd Indian Wаr. Thеѕе tоurѕ аnd a number оf others inсluding a dinnеr сruiѕе lоорing аrоund thе iѕlаndѕ through US аnd Cаnаdiаn wаtеrѕ, аrе offered bу bоаt tоur companies out of Alexandria Bау.
And finаllу, аlѕо out оf Alexandria Bау, thеrе iѕ a Hоt Air Balloon company that оffеrѕ two flight timеѕ a day, wеаthеr permitting. Onе аt ѕunriѕе аnd thе оthеr аbоut two hоurѕ before sunset. Their flightѕ lаѕt about 45 minutes tо аn hour аnd thе intеndеd flight раth is paralleling thе rivеr and the Iѕlаndѕ, оffеring a соmрlеtеlу different реrѕресtivе оn the 1000 Islands.

Legalize Mary Jane or illegalize Alice B. Toklas?
Pot, Weed, Grass, 420, Ganga, Dope, Herb, Joint, Blunt, Cannabis, Reefer, Mary Jane, Buds, Stinkweed, Nuggets, Chronic, Tobacco, Hay, Rope, Gangster, Skunk, Boom, Blaze, Ashes, Block, Boo, Broccoli, Burrito, Burnie, Charge, You name it!
These are some of the common street names that cannabis had. So let’s talk about the use of illegal cannabis, I’d call it illegal because legalization of cannabis is not been approved in our country. It has medical purpose, but a lot of unwanted effects. House passes bill legalizing medical marijuana The bill would make it legal to use marijuana to benefit patients suffering from debilitating medical conditions.HB 6517 defines this as any disease causing wasting syndrome, severe and chronic pain, severe nausea, seizures including those characteristic of epilepsy, or severe and persistent muscle spasms. According to this bill, the legalization is for medical marijuana, not for other types. The former president-turned-Pampanga 2nd District representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, admitted that she had been using medical marijuana patches to ease pain whenever she visits a country where medical cannabis is legal. She suffers from multiple cervical spondylosis or the degeneration of the intervertebral discs, causing pain in the spine.
Not all cannabis are the same, in fact you can differ them from their leaves. Sativa leaves of sativa are loger and slimmer than Indica and Ruderalis. It can grow until 13 fingers and has a lighter and lime green shade. It is also believed that the longer flowering of sativa strains is the reason why people use it for illegal purposes. Next is the Indica the leaves of indica are short and wide, can also grow 7-9 fat fingers, indica leaves aare darker, deeper shades of green. The last one is Ruderalis the leaves of ruderalis are quite thin, and can develop 3-5 slender leaves. Most growers compare them to leaves of young sativa because it has slender and fewer leaves.\
Even if we knew the types of cannabis, we can get fooled because some growers do leaf mutations. Leaf mutation is initiated by breeders to better camouflage plant and make it less identifiable as Marijuana, gnarly-looking sets of leaves that appear on young plants, widespread leaf mutations with even numbers of fingers and ugly deformities are very rare. Excessive mutations are indicative of bunk genetics and poor breeding practices.
Here in the Philippines there are more than 300 growing sites of cannabis, especially at Mountain provinces like Bontoc, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Apayao, Amburayao, Barlig, Bauko, Besao, Natonin, Paracelis, Sabangan, Sadanga, Sagada, Tadian. For easy access, suppliers go to Baguio, harvest their cannabis and supply it to different areas of Makati like Cembo, West Rembo, Rizal, Poblacion, Urdaneta, Bangkal, Magallanes, Sta. Cruz, La Paz, Palanan, Bel-Air Guadalupe then reaches Taguig, Pasig, Pateros until it came to the hands of college sellers. Certainly introduced,Clandestine cultivation in the highlands, especially the Mountain Province, Limited personal-use garden cultivation, Native of Asia,Commercial cultivation in many countries.
Tumblr media
Some breeders grow their pots indoors, less hassle right? But quite expensive then, but you are assured that it is pure organic because it is home-grown. When growing a cannabis, you will need a
 1.      Room or space for your plants, it can be in a closet, tent, cabinet, spare room, or a corner in an unfinished basement. Some tips in indoor growing are, The smaller grow, the less expensive it is to set up, much easier to monitor than in mountain province. lights, ducting, fans, and other equipment, as well as leaving enough room for you to work. When cannabis is in stage of flowering, it grows triple it’s size so you must a lot a bigger space. Cleanliness of the room is required and the temperature, humidity and lighting.
2.       You must choose your lights, because for sure, in your room it’ll not receive natural sunlight wherein it will not get the energy from the sun so choose a good quality of lights, choose HID lighting but there is a cheaper option, fluorescent and LED lights but the best quality is HID High Intensity Discharge
3.      Give your plants some air. The room must be well- ventilated you will need an exhaust fan, to eliminate the warm air and a filtered air on the other side of the room
4.      Learn how to monitor your set-up. You must know each of the set-up’s functions. units available that control lights, temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels, the beginner will generally need a simple 24 hour timer for the light and an adjustable thermostat switch for the exhaust fan. The timing of the light/dark cycle is very important when growing cannabis; generally you will have your lights on for 16-20 hours per 24 hour period
5.      Decide what medium you want to use in growing them. It can be in pots, or rockwoool. Any high quality potting soil will work, as long as it doesn’t contain artificial extended release fertilizer
6.              Determine What to Grow Your Cannabis In A flood-and-drain, tray-style hydroponic system may use small net pots filled with clay pebbles or just a big slab of rockwool to grow many little plants
7.              Feed Them! Give them nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, copper
8.              Water them
Now by following these easy steps, you can now have legal cannabis. Which can be used for medical purposes.
Methods used  in taking Marijuana to your body are smoking, bongs, vaping, dabbing, oral ingestions, sprays, tinctures and topical methods.
In smoking, marijuana is smoked using pipes, bongs, joints, blunts, .
In bongs, you can use 2 bottles or sometimes buy it online or customize your own, wherein the gravity pull the smoke into the chambers with water or sometimes beer or wine.
In vaping, Vaporizers heat the marijuana to a point just below the point of combustion.  The active ingredients can be inhaled as a vapor, rather than as more harmful smoke.
In dabbing, A glass pipe or bong is heated with a blowtorch. When the resin extract is placed into the pipe, it creates vapor almost immediately. Dabbing is thought to produce a greater high than smoking marijuana.
In Oral Ingestions marijuana is mixed with foods or baked goodies, most commonly in sweets like chocolates and candies. Oils extracted from marijuana plants can be used in cooking, baking, or simply mixing with food to create a variety of products that can be ingested orally or taken in capsule form (known as cannabis caps or weed pills).
In Tinctures Tinctures are liquids extracted from marijuana plants that are infused with a solution of alcohol or alcohol and water. The user places a few drops of the solution under the tongue and it is quickly absorbed into the bloodstream.
In Sprays Another relatively new method of using marijuana involves infusing liquids with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) or cannabinol (CBD) to make sprays that users can spray under the tongue.
In topical Method, Topical oils are extracts from the marijuana plant that is thicker than the oils used in edible products. The oils are placed on the skin and are absorbed to relieve muscle pain and soreness. Because marijuana topicals do not produce a high, they are usually used for medicinal purposes only.
Based on my personal research, Cannabis is a popular recreational drug in the world, only behind alcohol, caffeine, and tobacco.
·                 The psychoactive effects are biphasic: a primary psychoactive effect that includes relaxation and euphoria from its main psychoactive substance, THC. Secondary psychoactive effects include introspection and metacognition. Tertiary effects like increased heart rate and hunger is attributed to 11-hydroxy-THC, a psychoactive metabolite of THC produced in the liver.
·                 Cannabis sativa cause a "high" commonly associated with hunger (munchies) and energetic feeling while C. indica produces a more "stoned" and meditative feeling, attributed to a higher CBD to THC ratio.
That’s why I stated a while a go that not all cannabis are the same, sativa makes us high, indica makes us stones, and Ruderalis for medical purposes.
Cannabinoid Psychoactive Effects
- Psychoactive effects of cannabinoids in humans is a mixture of depressing and stimulatory effects in the CNS, designated into 4 groups: (1) affective - euphoria and easy laughter (2) sensory - alteration in temporal and spatial perception and disorientation (3) somatic - drowsiness, dizziness, and motor discoordination, and (4) cognitive - confusion, memory lapses and difficulties in concentration.
 Analgesic:  • Analgesic and Neuro Effects:  • Movement Disorders / Multiple Sclerosis:  • Antibacterial Cannabinoids:  • Short-Term Memory Effect:  • Lung Damage:  • Cannabidiol / Antipsychotic:  • Cannabidiol / Antioxidative / Anti-Inflammatory:
I personally knew a person, who has a marijuana in take when he was in high school, due to peer pressure, he was forced to try what marijuana is, he was born normal, has a high Iq and an achiver, but everything changed when he had an in take of marijuana, everything has changed, he had to drink sleeping pills for him to fell asleep, his thinking literally changed, he was watering plants while raining, and now he is an adult, he’s been sent to a rehabilitation hospital for him to go back to his normal state of mind, because he is being aggressive nowadays.
