What is a mooncake?

Mooncakes are a type of pastry/bakery product that the (correct me if I'm wrong) Chinese and Vietnamese eat and gift during Mid-Autumn festival, which is right around September. They're a denser tea cake that usually has paste fillings such as red bean, mung bean, green beans, lotus seed paste, fruits, nuts, etc, and have this flaky top crust. I think there are some savory ones that have meats as well, and most cakes have cooked egg yolk inside to represent the moon. My favorite is the lotus seed one without egg yolk *-*

Anyways, it's customary to gift them to family and friends in these fancy boxes. I just get them and eat them myself looool, here's the wiki article!
