Monty Python's Name Droppings Series 1 Part 1

A cast of characters called out by name, as seen on Monty Python's Flying Circus series 1, episodes 1-4. There certainly were a lot of Arthurs (Waring, Jackson, Pewtey, Aldridge, Lemming, etc).

And now for something completely different:

Married couple Arthur and Deirdre Pewtey visit a marriage counsellor. As Mr Pewtey tries to state the problems in their marriage, the marriage guidance counsellor flirts with a receptive Mrs Pewtey rather than give the couple advice. Mr Pewtey fails miserably to react to this behaviour and stand up for himself. He leaves the office and the voice of God convinces him to return.

I couldn’t think of more music video references but here’s something else :D

First: Coconuts in the DÄ song “Und ich weine” vs. the infamous coconuts-to-make-it-sound-as-they-are riding-horses scene in Monty Python and The Holy Grail. (I scanned the booklet from the cd and those underlines are made by me.)

Well, I’m not entirely sure if the coconuts were BECAUSE of Monty Python, no idea if Farin was aware of this movie/scene back in the early 80s but then again, I’ve only ever heard about coconuts used like this being invented by Monty Python themselves... (I had to play a nerd a bit and google this and it’s actually called as “The coconut effect” and it in fact is named after Monty Python and this movie :D)

Second: Farin’s song “A.U.S.T.R.A.L.I.E.N.” on his album Berliner Schule. This one is self-explanatory. (Again scanned by me from the booklet of the album.)

The video is short as f* (f here stands for something else than Farin who also is not short) but it’s the only video I can find of this sketch. I don’t know where all the videos from yt have gone, maybe they’re just hidden from people that are not from the UK, I’ve no idea...

Third: I might be wrong about this one, but on the last King Kong (I tried to make the correct letter but this copied it looking weird and I’m too lazy to look for it from anywhere else lol) album, his pseudonym was “Arthur Pewty” and I feel like this might point at this recurring Monty Python’s Flying Circus character called “Arthur Pewtey”. I think the “Marriage Guidance Counsellor” sketch is from where I remember this name the best and might have been the first with him? But anyway I think he was one of those recurring characters who just appeared in random skits. Maybe.

I hope I don’t sound too much like a besserwisser. It’s all just for fun! ::D And I like knowledge a bit too much sometimes........................
