With the Moghul Rule coming to an end, patronage to the arts also ended. Meanwhile, many Europeans who followed Vasco Da Gama, found that the wide diversity of the biological life, the historic buildings, the cultures and traditions, the local occupations in India need to be captured so that they can preserve them as souvenirs and show them to their kin and kith. (Photography was not yet invented!) Also, the British found out that indigenous Indian Art lacked linear perspective, light sense (shading) and depiction using water/oil paints. They taught these technical aspects to the local artists so that they can get paintings from them according to their own Western taste. As a result, a new style of Art emerged with a fusion of the local scenes painted in a western perspective. This was called the Company Style (yes, Company meant East India Company). Differing from all the styles till then, Company Style is a kind of its own and has remained unique! My humble contribution on Telugu Wiki about this style of art!! I get a lot of hey dude and yo bro DMs 😂. It’s ok I kinda like it when people call me homie and sir 👑. . I was listening to something last night that was talking about how if you don’t grow up within a culture, you don’t have a fully human brain in the way most do. Ohh god that made sense to me. So many lights came on. A lot of my struggle in life has been due to growing up in isolation and the inability to process things in ways that everyone else just does innately. I’ve learned to behave like I fit but usually secretly I don’t understand anything going on around me. 😂One thing that I don’t get is the importance of gender. I’m happy we made a holiday of today and that people are banding together for empowerment and on the surface I’m all Yay yaaas gurrlll about like everyone else. I love the conversations and movements that are gaining power. I see the necessity and importance. But secretly I’m just a spectator in all of it...there’s a big part of me that doesn’t get it at all. I want to!! I want to fit in and support what I have been told are my people but secretly, it’s just not my truth. It seems like such a surface level societal construct. Underneath, we are Beings. I prefer that feeling and that free energy, and when I get categorized in the F box I start feeling cagey and labeled and therefore misunderstood. Labels always feel like a way of processing to a point and then dismissing- discontinuing the experience from unfolding and letting it be whatever it is in each changing moment. As Beings- nationality, race, physical features, gender, species, even planet of origin - none of that is important. All that matters is a reverence for other living beings. A heart connection. And that just seems so much simpler.
