The Agent and the Empath

It had been three years since Kel's imprisonment at Associated Sciences, and she was feeling ready to head back into the world, get a job, and live life a little bit.

Her father hadn't been happy about it, but that's what happens when you're the baby of the family, and a damaged empath at that. To appease him, she allowed him to choose her place of work for the moment, and he had immediately set her up with an FBI agent that was know to be tough and no-nonsense, the kind of agent who wouldn't let her end up dead.

She had nearly rolled her eyes. Nineteen and working with the FBI. All she had wanted was a summer job at the library. His connections seemed endless and Kel put the information back for later use, in case it became important. For now she'd tolerate this job, after all, her skills could be useful here, although perhaps dangerous too.

Arriving early, Kel smoothed out the suit jacket she wore over a recently bought tiger t-shirt from the zoo. Not exactly FBI attire, but she didn't really care, and settled into a chair to wait for her "handler".

Nightfall

Night fell quickly upon Blade City, or at least it seemed so to the winged figure perched upon the rooftop of the tallest building in the immediate vicinity. The stars were unusually bright for being in the city, but he took no notice of their beauty, or that of the moon. His only concern was with having light to see by, and the full moon was helpful for hunting vigilantes who always were eager to come out and play at night. Tonight he was here for a certain caped crusader. A rookie. One who would likely get killed by some mugger or thief if he didn't intervene before they took their heroism too far. The law was there for a reason, and these "heroes" broke outside of it to be do-gooders in a world that didn't need them. So Angel watched, and he waited, for the one the people called "Sentinel".

She thinks for a moment, “An hour ago? I was reading. Kryptonian history has always fascinated me, and they remind me of home. I read old text books when I feel nostalgic." She shrugged, before adding a small grin, “They add fuel to my fire."

34: are you a patient person?

She shook her head, “I’ve never been one for waiting. For anything. It is… Infuriating."

36: favorite color?

"I’ve never taken the time to think about something so childish. Although, if I had to pick, I must say that I am fond of gray."

37: did you have a dream last night?

"Very rarely do I dream."

✾ - Why I chose my character

Already answered, sort of?  But I guess I have a sort of amusing anecdote.

I'd only seen TDKR once, at the midnight premiere, before I decided to try my hand at writing him.  This was a few weeks after the movie came out, and I couldn't really remember exact details.  Instead of going to see the movie again like any normal person would do (except me, as I have a weird thing about seeing movies alone), I sweet talked an acquaintance of mine whom I knew had a draft of one of the shooting scripts, and he got me a copy of that screenplay.  That was my primary resource.

I actually didn't see TDKR again until maybe half a year after I started writing him.  I was terrified that I was going to watch it and discover that I was getting him completely wrong.
