"…CREATING A ZOMBIE SOLDIER TO STALK THE MORTAL WORLD ABOVE."
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on promotional shots of Al Simmons, reborn as a zombie soldier, six inch action figure from "Spawn Series 23: Mutations," released by McFarlaneToys in May, 2003.
"In a dark twist, Malebolgia breathes undead life into the charred corpse of Al Simmons, creating a zombie soldier to stalk the mortal world above. This shambling beast is set to strike at all those who would aid the traitorous Hellspawn, collecting pieces of his victims as trophies to instill fear and goad Spawn deeper into demonic despair."

Roman Crocodile Parade Armour, 3rd To 4th Century CE, Manfalout, Egypt, The British Museum, London
The incorporation of the province of Egypt into the Roman Empire put Rome and her people into direct contact with Egyptian culture and religion. In Egypt Roman garrisons were closely integrated into civic and religious life and participated in local cults.
In Middle Egypt and Manfalout (in the ancient nome of Lycopolite) Roman soldiers were particularly attracted to the Crocodile cult centred on the sacred grottoes of the region. This parade helmet and cuirass, based upon actual military armour, was especially constructed out of crocodile skin for use in the cult processions.

Rewatching Captain America: The Winter Soldier just makes me think about how smart Steve is. I feel like he is often overshadowed by other Avengers, such as Bruce, Tony and Nat.
In WS, he has many moments that portray the way his brain thinks. My personal favorites are the elevator scene and when him and Nat arrive at the old army camp. He knows those agents are coming after him due to slight body language, such as a hand on a gun or a couple of beads of sweat while in the elevator. At the old army base, he is able to find the room with Zola with little information. He uses his knowledge on army regulations to find the old SHIELD office. From there, he is just able to notice little things that are off, such as the shelves that reveal the computer.
Sorry for the lil rant, but I just think Steve deserves more intellectual credit than the fandom gives him.

thing I've realised which alters how I see the howling commandos:
if the actors' ages reflect the characters’ ages, then all of the Howlies are considerably older than Steve.
The youngest Howlie (after Bucky & Steve) would be eight years older than Steve (that's Monty). The oldest is eighteen years older.
So they're a bunch of guys in their 30s and 40s who voluntarily put themselves under the command of a clueless 25 year old whippersnapper who's never even been in the field before.
Or, another way to put it:
Bucky was asked to pick a team to put under Steve's command and he chose a bunch of much older, seasoned soldiers, because clearly a bunch of kids in their twenties couldn't be trusted to cope with this idiot.

On January 25, 1945, The Battle of the Bulge came to an end. Lasting six brutal weeks, it was the largest battle fought by the United States in WWII.
The U.S. initially had a strength of 610,000 troops when the offensive began. By the end, the Army would suffer over 89,000 casualties, including an estimated 19,000 killed and 23,000 missing or captured.
The Germans' attacked with an approximate total strength of 450,000 troops including 500 tanks and assault guns. Between 63,222 and 98,000 of these men were killed, missing, wounded in action, or captured, it was the last major offensive attempted by the axis powers on the western front.

Terracotta warriors, Cypro-Archaic II, Cypriot
Buried beneath the unassuming landscape of Agia Eirini lay an ancient sanctuary that had remained hidden for over 2,000 years.
Spanning an area of nearly 4,000 square meters, the site contained an extensive collection of terracotta figures – over 2,000 in total – ranging from life-sized warriors and horsemen to smaller religious and domestic figurines.
The terracotta army at Agia Eirini likely served as a ritual space for the training and veneration of soldiers, with the figures representing both individual warriors and collective military units.
Interestingly, many of the warrior statues were found in a state of partial disrepair, with broken limbs or missing weapons. This suggests that the figures may have been intentionally “killed” or “decommissioned” as part of a ritual process, perhaps to symbolize the transition of a soldier from active duty to the afterlife.
