We have recently added a new kitty to the Changeling Chain family: Meet Pollux, an #esa in training and possible #servicecat (If Texas and/or US Federal law gets their act together.) Solaris and Polaris are essentially a bonded pair at this point, so taking either of them on trips/errands would make the other one sad. Pollux, however, is fine on his own, so long as he has a human with him. He will be a stream cat as well, possibly joining Solaris and Polaris once they accept him. (Commander Cavy and Major Change already do, however.) The #armoredbearbattalion will flourish with the addition of Pollux. On Wednesday night's #twitchcreative #chainmaille stream, we finally finished up the vest for the Striped Bear; the diagonal stripes move cleanly from front to back (except for when the neck, arm and tail holes interrupt them) and there is no shift in the pattern. This presented a unique challenge for me but I managed to complete it. I learned a lot about #Chainmail trying to get the pattern to meet up perfectly and I'm proud of the results. I did much of this live on #twitch and the #armoredbearbattalion helped make this happen. Day Two of #twitchcon2018 was a blast; LineCon was manageable and I got to meet a lot of people and get pictures of them, some I knew online and many completely new to me. After missing the chance to meet them last year, I got to meet @ellebee_tv and @forkgirl_cosplay finally; they were just as friendly in person as on stream. It was also good to meet up with @prendoriancrab again and get a picture of her booth. Finally, I got to meet a person who I only heard of that day but am going to check out of more of: @moohoodles , a science education streamer, something those in the #armoredbearbattalion will k know is important to me. On today's #twitchcreative #chainmaille stream, we were quite productive, despite Solaris and Polaris trolling us and some technical difficulties starting the stream; we made three full modules for the second #TwitchBerk sleeve in one session, setting the running total at ten. - With 36 modules to make in total, that sets us at a little over a quarter of the way complete; at this rate, the #chainmail sleeve will be ready well in advance of #TwitchCon and the #twitch themed #hauberk will grace the halls of the center in October. - None of this would be possible, neither in financial ability nor morale, without the support of @twitchcreative, especially the #Twitchmaillers and the #armoredbearbattalion in particular. It took a 6 hour #twitchcreative #chainmaille stream, but we finally made the basic framework for a #hauberk that will fit a #buildabear #teddybear. I started from a standard Haubeark and added more height and circumference until I had the dimensions right, then filled it in. After that, I cut two sections out and made the shoulders from the neck hole material. Finally, I added material to make the hole an octagon instead of a square. #Twitch has been a fantastic platform, and I'm glad to have a place like #twitchtv to show people how #chainmail is made. The #armoredbearbattalion has grown in the years since I started, and I am grateful for every new member. Thank you, everyone. You make sitting in the chair fun for more reasons than the mailling. I find myself always mailling, even when far from the workshop. My #blurple rings are in short supply, and I'll need to order more very soon. I still want to finish the #TwitchBerk before #twitchcon , and I know with dedication I can do it. I will not fail this; I would be letting the #armoredbearbattalion and #twitchmaillers down if I did. This will work. My #twitch #chainmaille #hauberk will be done in time. Update on the #chainmail lanyard: It's well over 2 feet long, and very close to 3ft/1m. I want it to be that long so that I can manipulate the badge that the lanyard holds while still wearing it, so I can show it to security/vendors/etc at conventions without removing it. Hopefully it's strong enough to weather actual use; using 20ga aluminum is something that worries me slightly. Just in time for #thanksgiving , I finished the #chainmaille #pumpkin #sculpture . The body of the pumpkin was made from Euro 4 in 1 with octagonal expansions and contractions and stuffed with #polyfil . The stem is Captive Inverted Round, with Euro 4 in 1 diamonds for leaves. It was a lot of fun to make; thank you to @theringlord for supplying the rings. And thank you to all of the #armoredbearbattalion for bearing with me as I made this. To celebrate the hype we got at #TwitchCon and the creation of our new website (https://changelingchain.com) we'll be having a subathon on October 24th starting at 1pm US Central time. The starting point is four hours, with possible extension to 20.
