I actually think the effect Armand's getting is the opposite. Yes, his favorite meal are those with suicidal thoughts - but look at the method he uses to feed. He puts a lot of time and effort into getting his victims to accept their death. It goes quick now that he's good at it, but Armand is willing to spend hours and even days creating this mindset (ie Daniel and the theatre victims).

The peace and relief his victims must feel in their final moments has to be truly incredible. Armand positions himself as their saviour, the one who gives them the rest they've craved for so long. It's the calm Armand's eating, not the sadness.

So it’s implied in episode 2x1 that the mental health of the victim affects the quality of the blood and affects the general wellbeing of the vampire who drinks it. (“Too much sadness in the blood” etc)

Have we considered the implications of this, combined with Armand’s main source of blood being suicidal people?
