Personal Work - Red Rising Dawn Chapter I

Many of my online friends routinely attend organized campaigns designed in the game ArmA 3, a milsim shooter where players either fight each other or fight enemy bots controlled by a campaign manager called a Zeus. One of the leaders of these operations contacted me about his campaign set during a fictional Taiwanese conflict in the 1990s. He said he wanted to open with a trailer reminiscent of the cinematics from the Call of Duty: Black Ops campaign. I told him I could not guarantee perfection, though I'd try my hand at it. After pulling a substantial library of assets from Sketchfab, I was able to create a brief simulator-like video that would compliment the campaign trailer audio. I did this utilizing Cinema 4D's Cel Renderer to create a visual style similar to that of a blueprint, the same sort of style used for the military debriefings in the Call of Duty games. This is totally relevant to my Capstone because it served as a demonstration of cinematics, which may become a part of my Capstone game, and if not that then literally any possible future project. Plus C4D is good to know my way around, should I need 3D models or rendered images.

I love going through and cutting up my Arma footage so much, it's the most serious unserious game I've ever played. This game will be mistaken by combat footage by major news outlets and also two vehicles bumping into each other will cause each other to fly into low-earth orbit. We try and follow a chain of command and when we land at the end of a mission we execute each other. It's nothing but good times.

My favorite part of modding games is getting mod overhauls to make it absurdly difficult and play like a proper guerrilla war, turn everything into as authentic of a halo milsim as possible, and make everyone anime girls. I’ve done it with Fallout 4 and Arma 3 in the past and now with Xcom 2, and it’s all I want out of video games.
