I don’t trust people who don’t love Boromir. The ring was stronger than a lot of people give it credit. It was able to turn righteous heroes and astounding mortal men into savages. The Arkanstone from The Hobbit also lends to this. Objects of power are not to be taken lightly in Middle Earth which is why I deem Frodo a hero because it’s incredible he was able to carry the burden of the ring for THAT LONG. We’ve all given into temptation of one kind or another and that’s without an ancient evil power. Boromir was a hero among men who had a small slip up.
absolutely ruined by the fact that frodo never heard boromir apologize for trying to take the ring, never knew how utterly repentant he was, never had a chance to earnestly forgive him (though i am certain he did forgive him on his own, but boromir will never know this). maybe frodo will never even know that he spent his last breath protecting merry and pippin. or how guilty he felt, so dreadfully guilty he was brought to tears by the weight of his shame.
i just- boromir
