Cheerful, outgoing, and made of 100% authentic innuendo, they make friends easily, but will always choose each other over anyone else. Niromachus ("Niro") - Lawful Good - A young scholar experiencing the big wide world very up close and personal. He tries to do what's right, but is gradually learning that he'll do a lot to get new knowledge. "Gecko" - Chaotic Evil - Tiny asshole, selfish, to the point, and bitter about being a kobold. Not keen on other people unless they're useful to him. Arjahn Henry - Neutral Good - Very laid-back, but he has a tipping point that you don't want to see. Best friend is a tiny tengu named Bleepus. Kali - Neutral Good - Small, adorable, nervous. Kali is a slave whose job is to be decorative, so he didn't need things like fangs and claws and vocal cords. It's ok, he gets fixed later. Gabriel - Lawful Neutral - Voice of an angel, because I think I'm hilarious. Very together, and quietly competent.

My name is Kriv Shamash. I am a dragonborn of Ravenite heritage, and proud of my lineage. I was born in Draconia, to the family of Kriv Azzakh, my grandfather. Kriv Gorbundus is my father, my mother is Harann. I am the second child and the oldest of four brothers: Donaar, Nadarr, and Arjahn are their names. The eldest child is my sister Findex. Though I was born in Draconia, I was raised in Talonstadt. I am told the family had needed to flee, and chose the empire as their haven, but was never told why.

Life in Talonstadt was cruel. We lived in near poverty, crammed in a shack built to fit humans. Grandfather had his own room, as did Mother and Father, while we children slept in the main room in what space we could find.

As a youngling, my best friend was a ruddy-bronze dragonborn female whose family were in service to the Temple of Bahamut. They were good to my family, and being near in age Raghthroknaar Vezera and I spent much time together. I have been gone from home for over twenty years now, and have not kept in contact with her, though Donaar says she became a warrior in service to the Platinum Dragon. I have not openly worshipped Bahamut for many years. My family care more for pride than honor, and a soldier has no room for nobility.

I joined the Righteous Brand when I was eighteen. I had been in training to become a mason, but my family wished for more. Grandfather insisted that it was my duty to the family and to all Ravenite Dragonborn, to show that the Ravenites were of more worth than the Draconbloods who were the empire’s allies. Mother was in agreement with him. Though I argued that a stonemason was also of worth to the Empire, proving myself – and my family – a dedicated servant of the crown was more important to them.

I did as they asked, and served for these twenty years. After training in Bladegarden, I was stationed in Nogvurot.

While I was training, I made the acquaintance of a most fascinating person. Aviddia the Songstress was a travelling bard, though we met through accident. In a scuffle with some fellow recruits who foolishly felt themselves able to best a Dragonborn, a wagon was dislodged and sent careening down the hill. Aviddia had not had the wits to leap out of the way and she was run down before a great bear appeared and brought the wagon to a halt. At that time I still followed the ways of Bahamut. While my fellows ran, I went to accept my fate. It was there I witnessed something miraculous, as a man in green robes knelt over the body of Aviddia and said a few words. A burst of light, and the dark, willowy woman stood and shook her wiry hair out of her face with a laugh as though she had not been dead only moments before. We have had many encounters since then as she often passed through Nogvurot, passing through lands wherever her journeys led her. She is one of the few people who have done nothing to betray me and I count her as my dearest friend.

I lost my eye one night while patrolling the border between the Empire and the Greying Wildlands. We should have been five, but as usual, my compatriots hand-waved their duty. The officers would not punish them. Few were stupid enough to walk these lands alone at night. I still do not know who I saw. Or what. Only one thing I know: there was a murder that night, and a theft. The villain took my eye with a spell that burned it away like acid, and left me to die as well. As they walked away I saw them flipping a coin with a red gem in its middle, whistling cheerily as they vanished into the dark. I do not know their face, but I know their scent and their voice. If ever I find them, they will not walk away again.

I have recently left the Righteous Brand. After that night on the border I was transferred to Rexxentrum and I spent several boring years there. I have tired of this soft service, and I have made no friends among the officers or even of the others of my rank. After a few mercenary jobs in the capital – including a favor for an alchemist who paid me with a health potion – I heard that Aviddia had been frequenting Zadash recently. Though a life such as hers has never appealed to me, travelling with her would be acceptable. Or else, her connections may lead me to better work.

Mother (Harann) and Grandfather (Azzakh) each owe me a debt. They don’t like it, but they will repay one favor each.

Donaar loves me though we have not been very close. Still, I know he will do anything to help me so long as he’s not put at excessive risk.
