Huntikmas day 19- Random niche hobbies the team have with no basis in canon
Dante: Extreme mountain biking
So Dante is described as an extreme sportsman in the series and we see him doing a lot of crazy stuff like skiing and intense martial arts but we've all seen those mad videos red bull put out of extreme mountain biking and you can't tell me that's not something Dante would do. Particularly in the countryside of Germany there are a lot of trails so it may have been his first venture into extreme sports and even though he may not have the time for it, nor can he drag around a bike across the globe, its still something he's very passionate about. (This is just one of Dante's many hobbies, I've got a whole list of random stuff he does because he's good at everything)
Sophie: Crochet
Crochet is just magic knotting at the best of times but I reckon Sophie is one of those people who can read a book and crochet at the same time. She says it's a mental exercise, being able to process information whilst conducting another action with her hands that also requires concentration but really she's just a wizard. Leblanche recommended it to her at first as a relaxing hobby but she got bored doing just one thing and soon watching tv or listening to podcasts whilst she was doing it become too easy so she upped the challenge to reading.
Zhalia: Website design
This is definitely her side hustle, it's the perfect balances of coding, design and human psychology. It started out with just her trying to create convincing trojan sites for the Organisation but then she found it strangely enjoyable and she found a lot more she could be doing with it.
Lok: Wood-working
Not really out there, we see Eathon Lambert making his own puzzles in the show and Lok wanted to go down the same path. Solving a puzzle is one task, being able to design and construct them for others is another thing. It started with simple wooden shapes designed to fit together but whilst perfecting his techniques its led him to carving other items like figures or a phone stand. Now not only is he getting better at making custom puzzles, he can carve intricate gifts to give to others.
Cherit: Jigsaws
We know Cherit likes puzzles, but for him jigsaw puzzles isn't about the thrill of solving something complex, its about putting together a picture little by little and the satisfaction of having created something from a messy pile. People often challenge him to complete a puzzle with the pattern side down for extra difficulty but Cherit likes to see his creations as he goes and has one of those folder books and some puzzle glue to preserve his favourite works
Den: Tik Tok
Okay not actually tie Tok but that kind of short video, vine, blogging behaviour you see going round. He's not one to show of his dancing but I can see him doing instructional videos on what he's learning at the moment. He also does those reaction videos with his usual snark and he's very happy to give his opinion on weird posts he finds.
Harrison: Pro-tag
Do not even get me started on how pro tag fits into my Huntik au universe, it's a whole thing. The benefit of pro tag is that it's a team sport without having to actually work with your team mates whilst in the arena. Harrison often gets frustrated with others so this is an ideal way for him to build his people skills, and his training skills whilst also exercising some independence and not depending on others to include him.

omg hi :) love your polls <3 im here to lore dump about my ocs!
My main Dragonborn is Theodora Viticius (her father picked that name out of a book as he did not know his own father, technically has no history). She was born off the coast in Senachal as her parents were pirates at the time, but grew up in Anvil. In my headcanons after the war Anvil kind of became a company town, the East Empire Company stepped in to try to rebuild but at the cost of people's freedoms.
After her father dies she heads to the Imperial City and joins the arena as a way to make money, most of her father's wealth is tied up and she can't access it right away. She ends up becoming quasi-famous and is up for the Grand Champion title before she realizes she doesn't like the fame and leaves Cyrodiil to go find her aunt in Hammerfell.
Along the way of course, getting captured by the Legion, you know the rest :P Initially she ran from being Dragonborn; headed to Riften planning to leave for Morrowind when she ends up joining the thieves Guild. Eventually destiny knocks and she tries the whole hero thing.
After defeating Miraak (and her man Ondoelmar faking his death to leave the Dominion), she ends up back in Cyrodiil, just outside the city with 3 kids.
Arthano the oldest grows up to be Grand Champion, before becoming a hired mercenary, traveling through Skyrim and High Rock. Choosing to settle down in Falkreath with an old childhood friend.
Ricardo ends up becoming a Moth Priest and dedicating his life to the study of Elder Scrolls. A strong advocate for knowledge he eventually leads seminars and becomes a prominent scholar.
Ceridwen originally went to study the school of Illusion in the Summerset Isles, but left for the College of Winterhold and became fascinated with Conjuration. She becomes a Telvanni Master Wizard after marrying a Telvanni she met at the college. she ends up surpassing him in skill quite early on.
Sorry this is so long!
hi!! glad to hear you're enjoying the blog! i enjoy yours too, i've been following you for quite a bit!
they all sound so cool!! i love her story, esp the bits about her family and her stint with fame. also that's the first time i've seen anyone have a moth priest oc!! also ondoelmar is such a valid choice i love him

2023 Cookie of the Year: Kingdom Edition
☁️ Heya! I’m sure you got the note my colleague Kit sent you and pinned at the top of the blog. She’ll be working her way into being part of our main contributor panel over the next couple months just as I and Strawberry Crepe Cookie have, which is how we ended up becoming frequent contributors on this blog. How she got into this is a long story, and one for another time. But moving on to the main topic here, it’s time to vote for 2023’s Cookie of the Year! In case you missed it last year like Vanilla Meringue Cookie (Your ACTUAL Editor, who also goes by Meringue) did, here’s how it works:
Every playable Cookie (minus the collaboration Cookies including Sonic, Tails, and BTS) in CRK will be split into a tournament bracket full of 1v1 matchups
In each matchup, pick the one you like more. There WILL be matchups where your vote will force you to choose favorites OVER your favorites.
Finalists will receive special prizes of all kinds which we don’t know yet!
Everyone might receive different matchups.
All times listed below are in KST (GMT+9)
R1: Update launch - 12/17, 11:59 AM (top 64 of 110 will advance)
R2: 12/17, 1 PM - 12/20, 11:59 AM (top 32 of 64 will advance, this is where the bracket goes to the real 1v1 situations where one goes home in each matchup)
R3: 12/20, 1 PM - 12/23, 11:59 AM (top 16 of 32 will advance)
R4: 12/23, 1 PM - 12/25, 11:59 AM (the top 6 of 16 will advance to the semifinals, more than half of the quarterfinalists will be eliminated)
Semifinals: 12/25, 1 PM - 12/27, 11:59 AM (the top 3 of 6 will advance to the finals)
Finals: 12/27, 1 PM - 12/29, 11:59 AM
Results Announcement: 12/29, 1 PM
☁️ Anyways, let’s move on to the first round with some matchups that appeared on Meringue’s end. There WILL one-sided matches because of high rarity or reputation and splitting-hair rounds because you gotta choose between favorites. It’s possible you could have different matchups though, as more than half the competition is still moving on. Once you make your vote in a round, you can’t take it back. Vote in every matchup in a round for 200 Crystals.
Sorbet Shark vs Peppermint (Good luck choosing between them…)
Kouign-Amann vs Twizzly Gummy
Lilac vs Frilled Jellyfish
Strawberry Crepe vs Cherry Blossom (So pink! And also so loud!)

✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
As they unpacked, the kids delved into excited and loud chatter that Mr. Weasley didn’t even try to put a stop to. Ciara remembered, almost too late to write a quick letter to her parents, notifying them of her arrival at the match.
Once fully settled in, the group ate a small dinner together before finally changing and getting themselves ready for the match. Some of them had ventured out into the rest of the campsite and returned with some hats and other merchandise knick-knacks in order to do themselves up. The twins had even landed some face paint for the group of them. George ended up having a large green shamrock plastered across his entire face, the remainder of the skin was covered with the white paint.
“Before you use it all yourself-” she said, walking up to where they were sitting in the living space, “Mind giving me some?”
“Sure thing McKay” George said with a smile.
“Yeah, what can we do for ya?” Fred asked.
“Just the flag” she said, gesturing to the spots just below her eyes “One on either side”
“Your wish is our command.” George flourished.
Ciara stifled another laugh before she stilled, letting the Twins paint her face. Once they were done, she bid them a thanks before bounding back to her bunk. She ran her fingers through her hair before quickly braiding it loosely, letting it hang down over her shoulder. She looked in the mirror, tilting her head slightly. She still felt like something was missing.
“Hey, Ciara.” Hermione called her attention over to her. The girl held up a small green ribbon in her hand, “Want this?” she asked.
Ciara’s eyes lit up, nodding furiously.
Hermione smiled and tossed her the ribbon. Ciara caught it before turning back to the mirror, watching her reflection carefully as she tied the piece of fabric at the bottom of her braid into a neat bow. Finally she laid a dark green scarf, with golden letters embroidering the phrase “ Éirinn go Brách ” down the side, over her shoulders, and the look was finally complete.
“You all ready?” Mr. Weasley’s voice sounded from the front of the tent.
In an instant, all of the kids bounded towards him, and that was answer enough.
Walking outside, they molded back into the crowd of people, all of whom were heading in the direction of the World Cup stadium. She could barely even hear herself think over the sound of the excited masses, and that was even before they made it into the actual arena itself.
Inside, it was like nothing she had ever seen. A common thread for the day as it were. The seating rose high into the air, and as the seats themselves slowly filled up, the roar of the wizards inside grew louder and louder. Balloons were flying everywhere, sporting the colors of both teams, chants popped up every few seconds. Everyone was just so excited and happy, and Ciara couldn’t stop smiling.
The group clambered up the metal staircase that they had been ascending for quite a while.
“Blimey Dad, how far up are we?” Ron complained.
“Well put it this way-” A voice that wasn’t Mr. Weasley’s answered, “If it rains...you’ll be the first to know.”
The group glanced down at the platform right below them to see Lucius Malfoy smirking back up at them. At his side stood Draco, mimicking his father’s stance. The boy had grown maybe an inch or so over the summer and was wearing a black turtleneck and blazer. His hands were shoved in his pockets as he looked up at the group as well.
“Father and I are in the minister’s box.” Draco announced, “By personal invitation of Cornelius Fudge himself.”
Ciara’s eyes narrowed.
Lucius hit Draco squarely in the chest with the end of his cane. The boy grabbed at the spot, as if he had actually been hurt.
“Don’t boast Draco.” he scolded “There’s no need with these people.”
This time, when Draco looked back up at the group, of course smirking, his eyes fell on one person in particular.
Ciara tensed up under his gaze, and watched as his smirk dropped, evidently noticing her standing there for the first time.
And Draco was indeed noticing her for the first time. In fact, it was as if he was seeing her for the first time, period. He seemed to notice the way the stadium lights reflected off of the white of her hair. He noticed the painted flags on her round cheek bones. He noticed the small green ribbon tied at the end of the braid that cascaded down her shoulder-
She shot him a glare, and he immediately shied away. Which she briefly found odd.
The group of friends moved to continue on up the stairs when suddenly Lucius’ arm shot out, and Harry’s arm was trapped to the railing by his sleeve. The silver end of the cane in the older Malfoy’s hand, pinning the fabric down as he leaned up towards them threateningly.
“Do enjoy yourself, won’t you?” he said darkly, “While you can.”
Ciara moved forward, shoving the end of the cane off of Harry’s sleeve and pulling him away from the railing. Lucius scowled back up at her as he was forced to catch his cane before it fell to the ground. Eventually the two ended up walking away, off towards their precious box seats, the rest of them able to shake it off.
Before they turned to make their way up the staircase again, something caught Ciara’s eye. At the end of the platform below them, just before disappearing out of sight, she saw Draco turn around once more. She caught his eyes for maybe a fraction of a second, and then he was gone.
Ciara let out a confused breath,
“Did Draco Malfoy just look back at us?” she asked Hermione, who had been standing close to her side.
“I think he was looking back at you.” Hermione answered.
Ciara’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion,
“Why would he be doing that?”
“Come on. The games will be starting soon!” Mr. Weasley’s voice pulled their attention away. The two girls quickly ran towards the stairs to join the rest of the group.
When they reached their level, Ciara finally got a good look at the view inside the already packed stadium.
The field itself was immaculate. Golden goal posts shone from either end of the field, and the grass of the pitch was such a bright green color, Ciara wondered if it was even real. Around them, people were cheering and screaming their heads off, even though the match hadn’t even started. Just being inside a place like this was like nothing she had ever experienced. Fireworks exploded overhead, even more balloons floated by their faces.
“Come on up, take your seats.” Mr. Weasley invited, ushering the children in.
Ciara ran over to the railing, grabbing on tightly with both hands as she practically bounced with excitement.
“Come on!” George shouted from somewhere next to her, obviously already feeding off the energy around them. The rest of the kids rushed in after them, all squeezing together against the railing.
Suddenly, a cluster of fireworks went off right above their heads. As they watched with wide eyes, the sparks morphed themselves into a large depiction of a leprechaun.
“It’s the Irish!” Fred screamed.
Five figures, donning dark green robes, whizzed by their faces as they dove into the arena, much to the approval of the roaring crowd. Behind them they left a trail of green and white smoke, as music flooded their ears.
Ciara wasn’t sure when she started screaming, but she hadn’t stopped as she watched the team take their introductory lap around the stadium. She could see them all as they were projected largely around the walls of the arena. Even seeker Aidan Lynch who zig-zagged around his teammates.
“Here come the Bulgarians!” George yelled.
From across the stadium, five clad-red figures shot down from the sky, bursting through the firework-depiction of the leprechaun and blasting it to oblivion.
As more cheers erupted, the figures darted around the stadium. Huge players in Dimitrov, Ivanova, Volkov, all sped past the fans in their seats, but the one who captured their attention the most was the wizard at the front of the charge, who was currently doing a handstand on his broom.
“Krum! Krum! Krum!” nearly the entire stadium chanted.
The eighteen-year-old seeker addressed the crowd with a simple pump of his fist.
“Good evening!” Cornelius Fudge’s voice boomed across the stadium “It gives me great pleasure to welcome each and every one of you to the final of the 422nd Quidditch World Cup!”
In response, the crowd grew loud once more.
“Let the match...begin!”
With that, the game exploded to a start.
It was quidditch played like nothing Ciara had ever seen before. Her eyes had to dart all around the field in order to keep up with each play.
Right off the bat, the Irish chasers were aggressive. In one of the earliest charges, they engaged the attacked formation effectively named “Hawkshead” in which Troy, Muller, and Moran flew in a triangle formation, heading towards the goalposts at lightning speed.
A few flashes of green later, and Ireland had scored the first goal.
“What?” Harry exclaimed from down the railing a bit, “But Levski had the Quaffle!”
“Harry, if you’re not going to watch at full speed, you’re going to miss things!” Ciara shouted back at him.
The chasers that Ireland had were seemingly unstoppable. As a force they were so coordinated and reactive that Bulgaria had a rough time coming up with answers for their attacks, leading to them letting in two more goals in the first ten minutes.
On the other hand, the Bulgarian Beaters were not to be trifled with either. And as the match went on, getting faster and more violent, even some of the toughest Irish formations could be broken up in one fell swoop.
Ivanova was the one to score Bulgaria’s first goal of the game.
The game continued on, and Ciara was holding on so tightly to the metal railing that her knuckles were turning white.
There was a moment, where Krum seemed to have locked onto the position of the snitch. Aidan Lynch was quick to catch wind of this and darted off after him. The two seekers hurtled towards the ground, in near vertical drops. However, at just the last second, Krum pulled up, executing a near textbook defensive feint that sent Lynch crashing into the grass of the pitch at such a high speed that medi-wizards had to be sent out to look at him after he didn’t get up right away.
“Dia ár sábháil!” Ciara cursed, slamming her hand down forcefully. Grumbles from the crowd below also echoed her frustration.
“He’ll be ok. He only got ploughed.” George said from next to her, “Which is exactly what Krum was after of course…”
Thankfully Lynch got back to his feet, and his broom, and applause rippled through the stadium.
It seemed the near-injury to their seeker infused the Ireland team with new energy, as once play resumed, they quickly began dominating. Pulling ahead by ten more goals. The score at that point was a comfortable 130-10.
From what she assumed could only have been major frustrations on the Bulgarian side of things, the game got more violent. Dirty even. A flurry of fouls were called, on both sides of the pitch. Beaters on both ends were acting without mercy.
At one point, Krum took a hit to the face with Bludger, bloodying up his nose pretty good, but no foul was called there. The young seeker used that frustration carefully however. He noticed, with well trained eyes, from across the stadium that Lynch had honed in on the snitch, for real this time. He took off fast, and even with what appeared to be a broken nose, he was on the more experienced seeker’s tail in a matter of seconds.
A very familiar formation appeared in the middle of the field as the snitch caused Lynch to dive towards the ground once again. But this time, Krum wasn’t backing off. Instead, he landed a rather violent shove to Lynch’s left, sending the Irish seeker tumbling towards the ground once more. And as the dust cleared Krum zoomed back up into the air, golden snitch in hand.
The Bulgarian fans cheered loudly at first, that was until they looked towards the scoreboard, which was flashing in bright yellow numbers “170-160”
“KRUM GETS THE SNITCH, BUT IRELAND WINS!” the announcer called “Don’t think any of us were expecting that!”
The Ireland fans rose to their feet, roaring in celebration. Ciara jumped up, laughing in giddy disbelief.
“What did he catch the snitch for? Ireland were a hundred and sixty points ahead!” Harry called out, obviously a bit disappointed, his Bulgaria hat sagging a little bit on his head.
“He knew they were never going to catch up!” Ciara answered unabashedly “The Irish Chasers were too good. He wanted to end it on his own terms!”
As the Ireland team lifted the cup into the air, cheers and chants erupted throughout the stadium as confetti fell and fireworks exploded in green, white, and orange above their heads.
“Éirinn go Brách ! Éirinn go Brách!” wizards shouted as the stadium shook under their feet.
“Ciara! What are they saying?” Hermione asked her, having to shout to be heard.

Maybe I’ll actually post again on this second blog since I’m arguably more into Pokémon than I was when I made it.
For starters, my Pokémon journey:
Right around the time it got huge in the United States, my mother enrolled me in a summer camp. A kid there introduced me to Sandshrew, and he was so cute that I wanted to know more about this game.
So somehow I convinced my parents to buy me the Machamp starter deck. I didn’t recall there being any fire type cards in the deck, but Im sure I’d remember having learned how to edit decks so early, so it must have had them and just only the holo Machamp stands out in my memory.
Bringing your cards to school to show off or trade was a thing, so I did that, but my backpack wouldn’t fit in the lockers for gym class and so it was left out and some jerk stole my cards. (sidebar, you’d think I learned my lesson but someone got into my unlocked drawer at one of my desks at work this year and stole some Matchbox cars I had in there that I’d take out to decorate the desk; unfortunately I hadn’t been issued a key to lock them - and work stuff - up and this location).
I was dejected enough that I lost interest in Pokémon, and it was pretty quick that it seemed everyone else at my school did too, or at least they stopped being vocal about it. I don’t think I ever heard if my friend Matt got his Charizard he wanted.
Years later, Pokemon Go comes out. I wasn’t going to try it out, but my wife wanted to and so that was my getaway free card to nerd out. Our son wasn’t born yet so we had lots of time to hit up the parks, drive slowly through cemeteries, and follow the online postings of where to find Snorlax and Blissey and the Dratini family.
When my son was born, taking him for stroller-supported strolls through pretty parks with pokestops, gyms, and Magnemite and other nests became a weekly occurrence and was my preferred way to spend the days I’d take off every year for my birthday. Though my wife eventually stopped liking the game, he became old enough to understand and start catching for himself (though unfortunately that was a gateway to all sorts of other videogames and for a while it seemed absolutely nothing interested him other than screens, so introducing PoGo to him had downsides). As he learned to ride a bike, having that with me during those times was an extra plus. I even got the Pokémon Plus or whatever that first edition was called, to discretely fill up my inventory on pokeballs at museums without getting distracted by a desire to catch every Sandshrew, Magnemite, etc. I could find despite not caring whether I got a better one and not needing any more candy.
Some time in the last two years, I realized that the battles were less fun than they had been for me when they first came out and I found multiple types of teams for each league. Battling to win stardust to further power up Pokémon to hopefully win more battles so I could get stardust to… That cycle just wasn’t as fun anymore. It wasn’t long after that that I was rarely opening the game except for trips, to send Postcards to friends. Around this time I had also learned of the mobile game for Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering called Magic: Spellslingers. I had never got into Arena and here comes what I found to be a more approachable mode of playing. The matches were more intellectually stimulating than I had found the PoGo battles to be, which is what I was missing from that.
I really liked that game but it didn’t last: Earlier this year, WotC announced that the app - which had little meaningful updates since like fall 2022 - was shutting down in July 2024. The Kotaku article that I read mentioned other similar games that have come to an end but also games that are still going, including Pokémon TCG Live. So: A free-to-play all of the card game, so an even more one-to-one upgrade in the planning and strategy I missed from PoGo, but still with the characters that I know and love, than Spellslingers had been?
So I started into that, and just hit Master League level in my second season. I highly doubt I will get to Arceus and won’t even try, but I’m glad to have gotten this far. I’m the meantime, I remembered that my friend Red had gotten me a Galarian Darumaka theme deck years ago for some reason. We had never played the TCG together - though he was one of my PoGo buddies for raids and we did remote battles occasionally - so even he forgot he bought it for me. Around that time I had come up with some ideas if I were to ever make a second deck, and now here I am planning to get my son the Pokémon Battle Academy from 2020 for his birthday and myself an Ampharos EX Battle Deck. I don’t be going to no Friday Night Pokémon or whatever they call that sort of thing on this side of the TCG aisle but I look forward to teaching my son this weekend and finally getting some matches in with Red.
I’m hoping there are some other Pokémon TCG Live fans out there among my MtG followers and maybe I can hear about your decks or favorite cards. I plan to share my two favorite homemade brews, as In not sure my minor tweaks to the game-provided intro decks would be that interesting to anyone since my win percentage is sub-50% (and in anticipation of that, my chosen slogan in the game is ‘The most important thing is to have fun. Winning just happens to be fun!’ Or something like that). Maybe you’ll be interested. If not, we’ll, I probably don’t need another blog time sink like my Magic one was at first!
