BNHA Boys Headcannons:
He Hears You Sing for the First Time.
Hi fellas!! Welcome to my BNHA headcannons! I wanted to write something other than my normal fics, so I’ll be posting a master list of these scenarios and updating them mostly bi-weekly! ❤️✨
————————————
Tumblr media
Katsuki Bakugo:
Tonight was a calm night during the sports festival. Classes 1-A and 1-B were at a shady bar, engaged in a heavy karaoke contest. It all started with a certain Monoma deciding that 1-B could be superior to 1-A in anything they wanted. Jirou decided to pick a karaoke contest.
Inside, you were mentally cursing yourself. You had never revealed your talent and it didn’t match with your quirk whatsoever. Nonetheless, If it would get that corn-headed bastard to shut up, you were willing to make a personal sacrifice.
After Jirou finished her rendition of I Hate Myself for Lovin’ You, she received almost max on the applause-o-meter. Next it was Tetsutetsu’s turn. You spaced out trying to figure out what you were going to sing. Then it hit. The best song. You didn’t even have to sing, just speak fast. It was perfect.
Tetsutetsu received low applause, making you feel bad in a way, but not too much.
“Next to the stage. Class 1-A, (Y/N) Tamayaki” Monoma announced.
As you passed by him, he flicked your shoulder. You turned your head and scowled at him, “if you’re scared about me beating your 5 on the meter...” you walked on the stage and tapped the mic, “you should be.”
You whispered to the DJ, selecting your most straightforward repertoire song, It’s The End of The World As We Know It
The familiar tinking of the intro played, gaining some hoots and hollers from the crowds. You took to the microphone, “that’s great it starts with an earthquake, birds, snakes and aeroplanes, Lenny Bruce is not afraid”
You masterfully complete the first verse, without a misstep or stutter. Seeing Monoma look like a deer in headlights made it all the more satisfying. When moving into the chorus, you notice a head full of blonde spikes walk through the door.
“Six o’ clock, Tv hour...” you spoke so fluidly it was almost mechanical. The usually stoic boy turned to look at you with a hint of shock in face. You moved through the second verse with a little wobble, mixing a word or two after seeing the explosive blonde.
“The other night I tripped a nice continental drift divide. Mt. St. Edelide...”
After the entirety of the bar shouted “Leonard Bernstein” at you, your turn was almost up. You finished the song with full power in your voice.
The audience erupted into boisterous cheering, leaving you dazed on the stage. Jirou ushered you away with a, “why the hell didn’t you tell us you sang?”
As you passed by Bakugo, you felt a rough hand on your shoulder.
“Oy extra,” a gruff voice sounded, “that was pretty damn cool. Since when do you do that shit?”
Your cockiness from Monoma never left you, “it’s always been there, pretty boy, just never let anyone know it.” You get on your toes and whisper in his ear, “it goes much deeper than this. Let me know when you want to hear more.”
You walk off with Jirou, earning a high five from her. Bakugo stood dumbfounded. Maybe you weren’t an extra after all.
Tumblr media
Izuku Midoriya:
Class 1-A’s antics never did end. Kirishima insisted on the whole class hearing his singing voice, a god awful one may I add. So, the class was broken out into full on song.
You had never shown anyone you could sing, it just didn’t fit with your quirk. So you held it off. As soon as the whole ordeal started growing, you found yourself walking to the front of the school.
You plant down on a bench, plugging in your earbuds. You scroll through your Spotify playlist, but ultimately let it shuffle. You un-tensed as the beginning of The Boys of Summer echoed in your ears. You closed your eyes and let lazy lyrics escape your lips.
“Nobody on the road, nobody on the beach...” you quietly echoed the song.
This was the true symbol of peace: no one to bother you while you listened to a bomb ass song. You didn’t notice the added weight on the bench next to you until it was too late.
“Well I can see you, your brown skin shining in the sun...” you quietly let the words escape your lips like clockwork.
You opened your eyes to take in the world around you. You nearly jumped out of your skin when you saw Izuku sitting right next to you.
“I-uh h-h-hi! Sorry to bother you, but you just disappeared. I wanted to make sure you’re okay.”
You chuckled softly. How could you be mad at this stuttering mess?
“Um (Y-Y-Y/N)? C-could you keep singing for me?” Izuku was flushed. He was embarrassed with himself, clearly.
You let out a soft breath of air, your lips curving into a smile. You let the next words of the song release from you. You leaned back onto Izuku’s lap, not thinking anything of it. You felt the boy tense up in your lap, but he ultimately relaxed and began to play with your hair.
Okay you lied, this was the true symbol of peace. You spent the whole afternoon in the same position; singing along to whatever song happened to be next in the shuffle.
Tumblr media
Denki Kaminari: (got a little carried away here. I’m a Kami hoe)
Certain days bring certain events that you can never plan for. The spring festival most definitely had the it’s surprises in store.
You were hanging out with your friends, Mina, Bakugo, Kirishima, Sero and Kaminari. Today has been the best day you’ve ever experienced. So many fun filled events! Bakugo dominated ring toss and won a giant stuffed zebra for himself, plus a giant stuffed Pikachu for Denki. Sero won the ropes course, receiving a small teddy bear. Mina and Kirishima took on a milk bottle toss, in which they both walked away with a stuffie of their own.
“(Y/N)-Chan! You haven’t won a prize yet! What game can we all play to get one?” Mina chimed
“Oh! I’m not sure! I’m not very athletically inclined, if you catch my drift.” You rubbed the back of your neck in embarrassment.
“That’s okay! Neither am I, I just have a good throwing arm” Mina beamed back in response.
You gave her a closed-eyed grin as you continued with the group. You had to admit that you wanted a stuffie of your own, but how were you supposed to win one?
“Ooooh! Look! Look!” Kirishima’s voice suddenly rang.
You look up to see a midsize stage, a huge crowd of your fellow students and Present Mic setting up a microphone. This should be good...
“Attention studennnnntsssssaah!” A booming voice echoed through the field, “come to the stage for a cool talent show! Winner receives a speeeeeecial prizzzeee!~”
You looked at Kiri with furrowed eyebrows. You hadn’t told anyone about your singing voice yet, so you played dumb.
“What could I possibly bring to the stage? My quirk? You’ve all seen it already.” You snapped in defense while fiddling with your hair.
“You can sing! I heard you humming in the common room!” Kirishima bit back in rebuttal.
“That doesn’t mean a damn thing! And even if I could, Ive got tons of other people to go against!”
You looked amongst your friends, who all had the same look in their eyes. You hung your head down and went to Present Mic to sign up.
After a few minutes, your name was called. You mentally cursed yourself as you shuffled onto the stage.
“Next in our competition, (Y/N) Tamayaki!” Present Mic announced.
You looked at Kirishima, who gave you a thumbs up. As the music started, you sucked in a breath. This is it. The tempo grows and accompaniment becomes more intense. You can’t help but smile.
“Movin’ on the floor now baby, you’re a bird of paradise” you began to sing.
Kirishima cheered. Rio was a favorite amongst you and Kiri. You moved through the first verse with great ease.
“Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand.” You were feeling free, not holding back a bit. You sang your heart out through the next verse, masterfully completed the second chorus, and chuckled as the instrumental break sounded.
As the saxophone began to play, you felt a hand on yours and soon you were spun around. Kirishima has come up to the stage to get you to “loosen up”, but he just wanted to perform with you.
“You make me feel alive, alive alive! Luck is on my side or somethin’, I know what you’re thinkin!” You chimed as Kirishima spun you again.
You started the final chorus, while Kirishima beckoned the whole audience to sing. They all obliged except for one...
A dazed Denki stood with a pink tinge on his cheeks. He was awestruck for sure, for you had never revealed this side of you to him.
As the song ended, you stuck your microphone up in the air and smiled wide. The audience roared in applause, and you won a (favorite animal) plushie.
You exited the stage and tried to grab the voluptuous plushie, but it was so heavy you stumbled backwards.
“Woa-! Careful (Y/N)!” Kaminari cried as he caught you by your underarms, “dude! What the hell that was SO cool!!”
You chuckled and helped yourself to your feet, taking one end of the plush and Kami on the other. You both met with your group while Kaminari pestered you with questions.
Tumblr media
Ejirou Kirishima:
Finally! Your first semester of U.A High was complete! Today was a great day for you and your classmates to hang out. So, you and your friend group decided to go have lunch somewhere fun.
“Oye Bakugo, I don’t know If I’m comfortable with you driving. Especially considering you road rage something awful.” Denki intervened your thoughts.
“Oh yeah definitely. Do not let blasty over here behind the wheel.” You agreed.
Bakugo glared daggers at the two of you. “I’m a more than adEQUATE DRIVER THANK YOU!”
“You’re welcome! But you’re not driving.” You chimed in response, “Kirishima can”
“Hell yeah!” Kirishima beamed as he trudged to the driver’s seat of his Mustang.
Bakugo called shotgun first, so you were stuck in the backseat with Denki and Sero. Middle set between these two tricksters? Can’t be as innocent as it seems.
Nonetheless, Kirishima started up the car and put the top down. “We’re riding in style today my friends.”
You chuckled and relaxed in your seat. It would be about a 45 minute drive to go where you all agreed, but it would be a fun one. Kirishima turned on his spotify, letting it shuffle. Some slow song came on and you felt your eyes get heavy...
All of the sudden, you saw your eyelids again. You opened your eyes to see that you had fallen asleep on Kami’s shoulder, and that he had done the same.
“Long day at the mill I guess?” Kirishima asked, looking at you in the rear-view mirror with a grin.
You chuckled softly, he was right. You definitely needed that nap. At that moment, your favorite song played on Kirishima’s spotify, Fallen Angel by Poison.
“WAIT! You’re a poison fan too?!” You shot up, forgetting about poor Kaminari on your shoulder. The boy woke up upon impact with the seat, and you gave him an amused puff of air.
“Jeez (y/n) I let you sleep on my shoulder and tried not to move you. But all of the sudden the tables turn and you don’t do the same? Not cool.” Denki said with a pout.
“BUT LISTEN TO THE SONG!” You chimed.
“It’s just guitar right now.” Kaminari responded as he yawned.
“ITS SO MUCH BETTER THOUGH!” You cried, “She stepped off the bus and out into the city streets.” You began to sing.
Kirishima looked in the rear-view again. He saw you absolutely jamming as you sang. He smiled fondly and turned his attention back to the road.
“Just a step away from the edge of the fall. Sometimes you can’t choose-“
“It’s like a heads you win, tails you’re gonna lose!” Kirishima started to sing with you.
“WIN BIG, MAMA’S FALLEN ANGEL, LOSE BIG, LIVIN’ OUT HER LIES.” You both erupted in to song, causing an angry Bakugo to roll his eyes and let out a fond scoff.
You and Kirishima sang your hearts out until the song ended. You repeated this pattern with all of Kirishima’s other music. You and this boy shared such similar music taste.
Kaminari and Bakugo tried to be annoyed, but they couldn’t seem to find a reason to not be amused. When a song you all knew came on, everyone started singing, even Bakugo. Upon arrival at the restaurant, everyone was smiling and ready for a nice lunch.
“I never knew you had such a nice voice (y/n)!” Kirishima cooed, “you and Jirou should totally team up and make music together!”
Your face heated up. “Oh- uh! Heh, thanks Kiri! I’m happy to hear that you’re a man of culture as well. Not many people our age know about Poison.” You rubbed the back of your neck in embarrassment.
Kirishima’s eyebrows raised with excitement, “oh yeah! I love older music! There’s just something about it! I mean the backing music isn’t the main focus of the song, it’s like an accompaniment for the vocals and-“
“Jesus Christ Kirishima. Get a fucking room you two, you sound like Deku with all that rambling” Bakugo’s annoyed voice sounded. You both felt your faces heat up at the comment, walking into the restaurant with a new idea in both of your minds.
Tumblr media
Shoto Todoroki: (got carried away here too uwu)
A lonely rainy day. The boys were all at the pool for some “extra training”. It was close to your birthday and the girls were out to find a present for you. You chuckled softly at the thought. You knew straight away what the girls were planning.
“(Y/n) Chan!” Uraraka’s voice echoed through your thoughts, “were going to the shop to get a-“ she cut herself off, “some snacks for you today! We want to get some (favorite chip flavor) chips!” She beamed.
You nodded in response with a goofy grin. They’re the best friends you could ask for. All of the girls took off in an instant, leaving you in the dorms by yourself.
“Waste not want not.” You hummed to yourself as you made your way into the common room. You prepared yourself a mug of (favorite warm drink) (hot choccy gang) and planted down by the large bay window.
The world was silent. Nothing daring to make a sound, but the pitter-patter of the rain outside of the window. You sighed with great satisfaction. How could this day possibly get better? You grabbed your phone and earbuds from the couch and turned on your Spotify.
“Well... it’s just me here. I can practice my audition music if I wanted.” You thought out loud. You clicked in the playlist containing all of the songs that suited your voice the most.
You instantly relaxed and prepared to start as the familiar tweets and twitters of Green Finch and Linnet Bird played through your earbuds.
“Green finch and linnet bird, nightingale, blackbird, how is it you sing?” You began to softly sing, “how can you jubilate sitting in cages, never taking wing?”
You stared out the window, as if you were acting out the scene yourself, “Outside the sky waits beckoning, beckoning, just beyond the bars.” You stood to your feet and let the music run through you. No one was here to judge you, no one could laugh or glare or, in Bakugo’s case, sneer at you. “How can you remain, staring at the rain? Maddened by the stars?”
You were now in the center of the room, sitting on the couch. “How is it you sing? Anything?” The music crescendoed into a melodious break. You continued to the window, singing the song ever so softly, as if you were singing a lullaby. “Green finch and linnet bird, nightingale, blackbird, teach me how to sing.”
The rain fell harder as you plopped down on the window ledge, “if I cannot fly... let me sing.” You stared out the window with a soft smile on your face. Yes... this is the best way to spend your birthday. Completely alone, cup of (drink) in hand, singing your heart out... Nothing could beat it.
You noticed that you were out of (drink) and returned to the kitchen to pour yourself some more. Upon exiting, the cord of your earbuds snagged along the handle of a drawer. Before you had time to react, a small beam of ice froze your drink, keeping you from burning yourself.
“Are you alright, Tamayaki?”
You stood dazed, unable to process everything. Your mouth sat agape as you tried to usher a sentence.
“(Y/N)? Everything’s fine, you didn’t fall, I caught you.”
That’s when you noticed the arm gripped around yours. You turned to meet the concerned eye of your best friend, Shoto Todoroki.
“A-Ah! Gomenasai Todoroki-San!” You stuttered as your face heated up, “gee how embarrassing.”
Todoroki simply grinned with an exhale of air. Your eyes widened and eyebrows furrowed as you swallowed, “that means you’ve been here the whole time... and you heard me-“
“Singing? Yes. Your voice is quite beautiful. It was a great accompaniment to my embroidering.” Todoroki admitted with a soft smile.
“-was gonna say talk to myself but...” you covered your face with your hands, “no one’s ever heard me sing before! I was always so careful!”
“You shouldn’t be embarrassed. You truly have a gift.” Todoroki said softly, “if you don’t mind, I would like to embroider while you sing to me.”
You pondered. “Well you’ve already heard me, so there’s no sense in hiding. But, I do need some more (drink), because you kinda like froze my original cup.” Shoto nodded with a chuckle and turned on his heel to grab his supplies.
You smiled and retreated to the kitchen for a new cup of (drink). You then sat down on the couch, scrolling through your playlist to find something slow and quiet. When you felt the ouch weigh down next to you, you absentmindedly rested your head on his shoulder.
“Happy birthday (Y/N). Such a peaceful afternoon must be a gift.”
“Hanging with you is a gift enough.” You muttered, hoping he wouldn’t hear you.
“I feel the same. Now, I want to hear your beautiful voice again. Hop to it.” Shoto gently commanded.
You obliged and spent your quiet time with him. Hours passed and still you both sat, attention on each of your hobbies. Nothing could ruin this incredible moment. Until Uraraka bursted through the door, causing you to spill an entire mug of scalding (drink) in your lap...
“Happy friggin birthday.” You cringed as Todoroki patted your lap with a cold dish towel.

Don’t worry | Jeon Wonwoo
Tumblr media
Genre: Fluff?
Pairing: Jeon Wonwoo x female reader
Warnings: a little suggestive without the actual smut
Words: 1292
A/N: Hi! I stumbled over Wonu’s old Halloween outfit.. and I couldn’t resist… but it was kinda rushed so some parts may not make sense? ...and as always, please remember that English isn’t my first language so excuse my grammar ♡ Have a nice Halloween y’all!
You had a long shift today. It was supposed to end at 6 pm but instead you left your workplace a bit after 9 pm. Damn those customers. Everything seemed fine until a drunk group started an argument with the group beside them, causing them to throw fists until the police showed up. The place was a mess so you stayed there to help your friends. Now back home, you felt as if your day was ruined. Actually you wanted to dress nicely for your boyfriend, decorate the place some more to fit the spooky Halloween season and spend a nice evening with him. Maybe cook something or order from one of your favorite places. But nope. It was too late for all that. His schedule should have been over at around 8 so you thought he would be back home before you but you were wrong. Even being home before him, doesn’t mean you could get everything finished in time and have still a successful evening… or at least you could try? Your eyes peeked over to the clock in the living room. “Oh screw it!”
You ran to the bedroom, pulling out your planned outfit and threw it over the couch, running and tripping over your own feet in the process to place the decoration at the right spots in time. Your head was spinning, too many things to do and your head was messing with you - or your whole body. You were doing everything at the same time and not finishing one thing first and go ahead with the next one. Less time for your already tired body to thing straight. Was the wish to have a nice Halloween with your beloved boyfriend too much to ask for? Last year you couldn’t be with him because he was abroad for almost two months. And celebrating Halloween when it was almost time for Christmas? .. heck no. The decoration was scattered all over the floor, some made it to the coffee table and the shelves but most of it was still not in place, when you fumbled with the black colored velvet dress that you bought a week ago. Suddenly you remembered that you had nothing prepared for dinner so you quickly grabbed your phone from the kitchen counter just as the apartment door opened.
You yelped, placing your phone back on the counter to at least be dressed properly but Wonwoo was faster, raising an eye brow when his sharp eyes found you. Stopping in your tracks, your shoulders fell in defeat. “Wonuuuuuu….!” You pouted and made whining noises while your dress covered you halfway, one strap got tangled up in your hair and your black stocking also not really in place. Good for you that you were in your fitting black underwear already. Otherwise you would be half naked, you were sure. Well, more than you were now because you couldn’t really say that you were fully dressed now as well. He chuckled lowly and made his way to you, putting down his purse next to your phone when he started to free your strap from your hair. That’s when you noticed his outfit. “Dracula?” Wonwoo stopped and locked eyes with you. Looking down at you, he smirked. “Do you like it?” Absentmindedly you liked your lips, letting your eyes wander over his face and down his body. Didn’t he tell you that he dressed up a week ago to record a Halloween special with the guys? Or did you get the date wrong? He even told you that he was going to dress up as Pikachu or Dracula, depending on what the others say. Or was it your imagination?
The boy in front of you cleared his throat, pulling you back to reality and cocking his head to the side to see your face better. “Dokyeom wanted to dress up again and surprise the ahjumma from our bbq place next to the company so we went there for a while but since I wanted to spend my free night with my most favorite person, I rushed home when it started to get messy..” Wonwoo paused and enjoyed your attention, giggling at the memories. “Jun sang folk songs in different languages and I have no freaking idea where he got the korean ones from.. or the.. what was it, german? But when Chan had to stop talking after every two words or so because he was near to throwing up, I excused myself.. well… aren’t you happy to see your personal dracula here?”
You caught yourself, staring at the handsome boy in front of you ike a lonely fish in the tank with big eyes. “E-ehmmm…. I…. “ His hand found your chin and lifted it up so you were directly looking into his dark orbs, making you even more flustered. He looked so hot in his outfit. That black mask and the fake blood in his tanned face, his dark hair hanging loose over his forehead while it was a stark contrast to his bright white shirt under the black Dracula coat. You swallowed thickly which didn’t go unnoticed by your boyfriend.
“What if I tell you that..” he leaned down, his hot breath fanning your neck and causing you to shiver. “.. I want to bite you?” Immediately you felt weak and the heat was rushing to your cheeks, making your face burn. You didn’t want to admit how much affect Wonwoo’s words had on you but just this simple and short sentence was almost too much for you to handle. You were about to say - just anything - but he spoke up again. “Push my fangs into your soft skin, tasting you and making you mine?”
Suddenly your phone fell down to the ground, causing the both of you to jump. You haven’t noticed how you grabbed onto the kitchen counter for dear life while Wonwoo was teasing you. You accepted the free moment that your phone gave you and laughed nervously, trying to change the topic. “Uhhh I was.. about to order food but you were faster and… well I thought we could get tacos… and… uhm…” after picking up your phone from the floor, you turned around and unlocked it when strong arms sneaked around your waist, holding you against his chest. His lips were back against your neck when he whispered, “sounds perfect to me.” His soft lips finally touched your skin, placing gentle kisses down to your exposed shoulder and back up to your ear. “Aren’t you going to fix your dress before the delivery comes? Or.. do you want to stay like this…. for me?” At his words, your thumb tapped on the wrong dish. It wasn’t as if you’ve never been intimate with him nor that it was the first time for him to throw suggestive things at you. But you were already a mess and it hasn’t been half an hour after he came back home. Quickly removing the wrong dish, you chose the right one that you had enjoyed last time and showed Wonwoo your phone. “What do you want??” Nervously chewing on your bottom lip, you waited for him to react and suppressed a relieved sigh when he took it from your hand to choose his choice.
But after ordering your dinner, he was spinning you around, his nose nearly touching yours. “But can I have dessert first? Your personal Dracula is starving.” “I thought you had barbeq- …yahhh!!” He threw you over his shoulder with ease and made his way to your shared bedroom, giving your ass a playful smack. “H-hey… I wanted to get dressed! I can’t accept the order l-like that! Yah, are you even listening???”
“Don’t worry, I will open the door, love.”

“Trahp! One last vine whip!”
Trahp extended it’s vines and with a mighty crack, it sent the Starmie flying into the water with a huge splash. The Starmie floated back up to the top with a dizzying look on it.
“Great shot!” Misty pulled back the Starmie into its pokéball. She hopped down from the giant seashell she stood in and walked over to Silviana. With a big smile she held out her hand, “I would like to present to you the Cascade Badge. Very well deserved if I may add.”
Silviana gave her a big grin and gently took the badge from the Gym Leader. She squatted down and gave Trahp a big hug.
◇◇◇
Silviana crouched in the tall grass of Route 5. The grass beside her rustled and she looked at Caliouse, the Charmander had its eyes wide and was quickly jerking its head toward anything that moved in front of them.
Silviana gave him a light pat on the back, “Good job Caliouse,” she whispered, looking to her left she said, “Amare go that direction,” the Psyduck nodded and slowly began to waddle forward. Silviana looked up, she noticed Riot making tight circles in the air not too far in front of her, she turned behind her, “boK choY go to the ri–” she stopped and blinked a few times at the sleeping Bulbasaur behind her, “Nevermind,” she smiled, “you can keep watch here.”
She looked at Caliouse and Caliouse looked at her. The girl gave a flick with two fingers in the direction that Riot was circling. The Charmander took off.
Silviana waited a little until she heard some scuffling in the grass ahead of her before she stood up. In front of her, a Vulpix had its tails to her while it was staring at Amare and Caliouse on its other side. Silviana tossed her last pokéball at the Vulpix, but the small fox pokémon flicked it away with her bushy tail.
The Vulpix turned swiftly and yelled at Silviana before taking off toward the side that Amare was on. Amare opened her mouth and shot sparkling water in the Vulpix’s direction.
“No!” Silviana yelled too late.
The Vulpix was hit by the water and collapsed in a soaking pile of fur.
“Aww,” Silviana hung her head, “Amare, I told you the last time you did that, to not do that… You’re a water type and you’re strong, so it’s going to make them collapse.” She went over and picked up her Psyduck in one arm. She went back to boK choY that was “guarding her bag” and grabbed a potion from it after setting Amare down next to the sleeping Bulbasaur.
She walked back to the unconscious Vulpix that Caliouse was warming up with his tail. He moved when she sprayed the potion on the Vulpix.
“Come on, let’s go before they wake up, I’m sure it’s siblings would be close by,” she walked back to her bag, “and according to the lady in town, there should be more Vulpix past Saffron.”
◇◇◇
“What do you mean I can’t go into Saffron!” Silviana yelled at the Route Guard. Junipur was lashing her tail while balancing on Silviana’s shoulder.
“Kid lower your voice. You can’t enter because there is major construction going on in the city and only residents are allowed to enter and exit, but no outsiders.”
“But this is one of the only ways to get to the next Gym!” Silviana gestured dramatically to the exit into Saffron City.
“Don’t make me force you out. You cannot go through the city and that’s final.”
There was something strange about the man that was blocking her path. He wasn't the nicest, but she couldn’t fault him for that. He didn’t act like he was trying his best to keep people out of the city either. His demeanor just threw Silviana off.
He’s probably had a long day turning away a lot of people… but still.
With a huff, she marched back to the Route 5 side. Grumbling as she walked down the steps, she sat down with another huff. Junipur hopped off and onto the grass, her left ear flicked and she glanced that direction.
“That’s so dumb!” Silviana exclaimed, but hung her head with a sigh, “How am I going to get around…”
“You could always take the tunnel.”
“Xander!” Silviana jumped up excitedly, she ran over and hugged her friend. After a brief hug she gestured with both hands to the Route Gate into Saffron, “They’re not letting anybody besides residents go into the city.”
Xander nodded, “Yea I know, I had to call up on a buddy of mine, he helped me find the tunnel. It travels right under Saffron City! They keep it in great condition, but it’s somewhat hard to see when you’re coming down Route 5.” He started to walk with her around the side of the building.
There was a lot of shrubbery that was blocking the path and Silviana had to duck sometimes to walk past the lower branches. But there was a little structure with a grey paint to it. It was well taken care of like Xander said, but it was very well hidden.
“What a good find! Thanks Xander!” Silviana began to walk toward it, but Xander held out an arm to stop her.
“There’s a catch,” he smiled mischievously at her.
Silviana’s mood immediately dropped, “You want me to battle you.”
Xander gave a hefty “Eyup!”
With a bit of grumbling she walked to the other side of the open grassy area that was in front of the tunnel opening. She turned, her hands on her hips, and said, “Fine, but starters only!”
Xander nodded, he reached into his backpack’s side pocket and pulled out Spark’s pokéball. The yellow pokémon came flying out looking excited and ready for a battle.
Silviana felt Junipur move on her shoulder, she looked to see a hunger in the little pokémon’s eyes. Silviana smiled and said, “Don’t cry when we kick your but again.” She pointed and Junipur ran down her arm and landed in the grass in front of Spark. The Pikachu flicked its ears back but had a look of determination on its face.
“I’m not going to cry! Show them what you learned Spark!” He struck his hand out to the side, “Let’s take to the sky!”
Spark responded with an excited call and zig-zagged up a tree.
“Brace for impact Junipur!” Silviana didn’t know what Xander meant by that, but she watched as Spark bounded down a branch and jumped at Junipur. He seemed to be floating in the air for a moment before striking at Junipur, quick as lightning.
Junipur held her ground, but she had taken a step back, flinching from the unexpected attack.
“Pretty cool huh? I met someone in Celadon that teaches moves unique to Pikachu.” Xander had a smug look on his face and folded his arms across his chest.
“You made it all the way to Celadon?!”
Not responding he shouted, “Alright, let’s really paralyze them! Thunderwave!”
Silviana started to panic a little as Spark let off rippling waves. As they hit Junipur, Silviana could see little jolts of static coursing through her fur.
Think Sil! There’s gotta be- Oh?
As she was watching Junipur carefully, she could see the static effects going away. Junipur took one step forward.
“What? She’s supposed to be paralyzed!” Xander looked on with just as much shock in his face as Silviana had surprise.
Spark’s ears pinned back and he quickly glanced back to Xander, waiting to receive another battle instruction. But the boy just stood there. Junipur was only a couple feet away and lashed its tail with a loud cry. A small bolt of lightning sparked from its body and struck Spark, the Pikachu took it head on. Not seeming to affect it too bad, Spark blinked the attack away in confusion. He looked back to an equally confused Xander.
“I- What just happened?” Xander seemed to have completely forgotten that they were battling. He walked forward and picked up Spark.
Junipur marched back to Silviana noticing that Xander no longer wanted to battle and sat down by her feet. Silviana crouched down to touch Junipur’s fur. The little pokémon turned her head away and lashed her tail from side to side, but Silviana was able to pat Junipur’s head for a moment. Junipur only accepted the single pat before ducking out of the way and hopping on to Silviana’s shoulder.
“That’s odd. I remember my mom telling me that she once had an Eevee that turned into a Vaporeon, but she mentioned that Eevee has a very unique genetic makeup.” Silviana hit her fist into her hand, “That’s it! Because Eevee can evolve into so many different forms, that must be how Junipur could conduct Spark’s attack and direct it back at him in some way!”
Silviana smiled at Xander, “Can you tell me the name of the person you talked to?”
Xander smiled back, “Sure, but three things. One it might not work for you because Junipur isn’t a Pikachu, two we should get you going then if you haven’t been to Celadon! You have quite a bit of catching up to do. Third we definitely have to battle again because I can’t wait to see what you can really show me.”
“Oh Xander. Now I have two things.”
“Mhmm.” He put Spark on top of his head and stretched his hands behind him.
“One, do you want this ticket aboard the S.S. Anne? Bill gave me two.”
“Woah! No way!” Xander grabbed the ticket Silviana held out to him, “Now we can go on a cruise!”
Silviana chuckled and smiled at his enthusiasm, “Second… Do you have any spare pokéballs?”
◇◇◇
Silviana crouched in the tall grass after she exited the tunnel. Caliouse was on her right and Amare was on her left. Once again, Riot was making tight circles above. She looked at Caliouse and signaled with her fingers, the orange pokémon took off into the grass.
“Amare don’t water gun them okay?” Silviana looked at her pokémon worriedly. Amare nodded in response and waddled off.
Silviana waited for the sound of a scuffle to reach her ears then stood up. She cornered the Vulpix once again, this Vulpix had turned to face her. It lashed its many tails and opened its mouth. Instead of a cry a tiny spurt of fire shot out of its mouth.
Silviana blinked in confusion at the little pokémon.
Uh, was that an attack?
The little Vulpix did the same thing, but after realizing that the small fire wasn’t doing anything it took off in Amare’s direction again. Silviana held her breath.
Amare kept her bill shut as the Vulpix leapt over her. A large shadow from the sky swooped down. Large wings blew a gust of wind at Silviana as large talons swept the Vulpix up mid jump.
Riot turned to fly the Vulpix to Silviana.
“Riot you evolved!” Silviana pulled out a pokéball and touched it to the Vulpix, she held the ball as it wiggled and clicked with the success of the capture. She smiled at the large bird that landed in front of her, “Thank you Riot. I think... uh, Josee! Will be a really good addition to the team.” She pet the frills on his head, he didn’t immediately pull away to Silviana’s satisfaction, “Right,” she said, “Time to train for this next Gym! We can’t let Xander show us up. He may be quick, but we’re gonna show him that we’re strong opponents.”
She looked at her pokémon and saw a gleam in each of their eyes. She also saw another gleam in the far corner of her eye.
What the?
She squinted. The six tails of a Vulpix flicked in the shade of a nearby tree, but the fur color was off.
No way…
Silviana sprinted to where she saw the Vulpix disappear.
“Oh come on, come on! Where did you go!” Silviana searched the bushes. She heard the grass rustle behind her and looked to see her pokémon following. Amare and Caliouse were the ones who got there first. Following them was Junipur and boK choY, the little grass pokémon was still holding Silviana’s backpack. Riot landed near them his larger wings made gusts that made her hair fly.
She crouched in front of them, “Alright guys, I don’t think what I saw was just a trick of the light. Now if Xander wants to see us get stronger I say we show him all we got,” she saw determined eyes looking back at her, “We’re gonna have to train quite a bit, and what’s a better way to do that and look for that rare colored Vulpix as well! Let’s go!”
◇◇◇
“Five… hours…” She said into the phone, “I spent five hours hunting for that Vulpix…”
“Well that’s very dedicated my dear, and I’m really glad you sent me all this information on them. Your 213 samples will prove well to my research.” A scratchy voice told her from the other end of the phone.
“Yea,” she breathed, “no problem Professor.” And she closed the phone with a click.

Maybe Pocky Game?
“Okay, so what snacks do we have?” Tracey asked as Ash turned the plastic bag in his possession over and all the contents spilled onto the living room floor.
“I didn’t know what everyone was in the mood for so I got some chips and dip, crackers, cookies, and a couple different kinds of pocky.”
“I can’t believe you guys turned down my offer to cater just so you can waste money on delivery and junk food…” Brock moped momentarily from his seat on the couch, leaning forward and sussing the many different boxes and bags around. “That being said, I call first dibs on the chips!”
“Jeez, you all are like animals!” Misty whined with a scoff. “By the way Ash, how come you didn’t grab us any ice cream?”
“Uuh, I didn’t think…” the youngest of their group began sheepishly, “I mean, it’s not great sleepover food anyway, right? We’re not supposed ta be worried about portion control and with ice cream you either gotta, y’know, portion some into a bowl or eat straight from the container, then rush the rest to the freezer when you’re done with it!”
The four of them scrambled to each of their sleeping bags on the Ketchum living room floor, Ash in the center, Misty to his right, and Brock and Tracey squished on his left while Pikachu hopped haphazardly around them all.
“This doesn’t seem like it was the most well thought out idea…” the redhead mumbled as she accidentally nudged Ash with her foot while tucking into a cross-legged position.
“This get-together sleepover was the best idea!” Ash responded stubbornly. “Since none of us get to travel together anymore, this is a great way for us all to spend some time together!”
“Well why don’t we spend it sleeping under the stars in your backyard?” Brock asked. “Misty’s right. This is kinda cramped for all four of us, isn’t it?”
“I guess it’s just a good thing your mom’s not home and forced to jump over all of us to get into the kitchen,” Tracey noted as he snatched one of the two boxes of crackers and proceeded to open them.
“Yeah, she’ll be back tomorrow. Anyway, I’m in the mood to watch television! I spend most of the year sleeping out in the grass! I got nothin’ against it but I’m craving central air and electricity tonight!” Ash responded.
Misty pursed her lips but made no further comment beyond an unintelligible grunt.
“So let’s see what’s on!” Brock went on, wrenching backwards to retrieve the remote from its place wedged between two couch cushions and tossing it to their host.
“I ordered the pizza about twenty minutes ago so it should be here in less than an hour,” their artist friend informed them, turning to rest on his stomach so he was more comfortable.
The next half-an-hour or so went by rather smoothly, beginning with Ash flipping through channels before landing on a televised recasting of the latest Johto coordinating festival championships. By the time it was over, a third of the snack food had been consumed and the pizza had just arrived to sate the remnants of their unspoiled appetites.
The minutes wore quickly into an hour, then two, each of them taking turns controlling the remote. Misty was last in control and had stumbled upon a cliche romantic drama that was currently in the middle of hitting its climactic moment.
“Ugh, c’mon, Misty,” Ash groaned, holding Pikachu to him and scratching the Pokemon behind the ears. “There’s gotta be somethin’ else! Anything else!”
The redhead didn’t respond, engrossed completely in the sappy dialogue and pink pop background aesthetic.
Tracey and Brock, who’d been slightly more mature about the viewing content, whispered back and forth to each other for a minute or two in between moments of flashy dialogue exchanges on-screen.
“What’re you two talkin’ about?” their young friend asked, grateful at the prospect of some other form of entertainment.
“Oh, we were just… thinking of a game,” the future breeder introduced with a brief knowing glance shared between himself and Tracey.
“A game, huh? What kinda game?”
“Well, it’s sort of a small, two player game. We figured since we have the pocky it might be nice to play it.”
“It’s a game that involves food?!” Ash yelped excitedly in response. “Sign me up! Anything to get away from that,” he finished lamely with a strained nod towards the television.
“Well we were thinking you could play with Misty, ya know?” Tracey explained now. “It would help her distance herself from her whatever drama show. Maybe by the time you’re done it’ll be your turn to have the remote again.”
“Ooh, good point! Okay, so how do we play?”
Time continued to slither by as Misty longingly watched the main character confess her love to her male costar and the two shared a tender embrace followed by a passionate kiss. She was so sure that they wouldn’t be able to work things out after the rumors had spread around their peers and caused a divergence in their previous relationship… but they had! Now there were only one or two closing scenes left until the end credits…
“Heya, Misty!” Ash exclaimed, popping obnoxiously into her line of sight and quickly spoiling her view and her mood.
“Mr. Pokemon Master,” she acknowledged stiffly, craning her neck to try and see around him, a much more polite response than her initial instinct had attempted to pave for her.
Ash mirrored her movements, overtaking her view of the screen behind him, before thrusting a small box in her face.
“Ya wanna play a game with me?” he asked as she quirked a brow at the green tea flavored pocky he was holding.
“A… game? What game?”
“It’s called the Pocky Game!”
Whatever the redheaded gym trainer had been expecting, it wasn’t that. There was no way… Since when did Ash know anything about that?! And since when had he been brave or aware enough to request her compliance with such a thing?!
Somewhat delayed, she turned a wary and suspicious gaze on Brock and Tracey, who’d become mysteriously immersed in a conversation she couldn’t make out. Neither of them were looking at her… but she couldn’t tell if both of them were going out of their way to not look at her.
“Misty…?” Ash began awkwardly, and aforementioned teenage girl moved from her prone position so that she was sitting upright instead.
“Do you know what the Pocky Game is, Ash?” she had to ask, staring fervently at him as if daring him to lie.
“A - ah, yeah, o - o’course I do!” was his egoistic response as he stuck his nose high in the air, a slight blush clashing against his naturally dark complexion.
She’d had to double check. She’d had to be absolutely certain, of course… but hearing her best friend’s confirmation, she felt a soft, lofty flutter of hope drift through her as she raised her head so that they were staring evenly at each other.
Was it finally happening…?
Ash took her continued intense gaze as agreement to play the game, ripping the box of pocky open and removing the little foil wrapper inside, pulling it apart and extracting a single biscuit stick coated in mellow green and placing one end between his lips, inching forward so that she could take the other end into her own mouth.
Well… there was absolutely no misinterpreting this, was there?
The two of them began to nibble on their sides of the pocky biscuit, making minuscule advancement towards the center as seconds wore on. Misty was surprised to see Ash’s face contort in extreme focus as much as hers, impressed by his patience and fortitude. Sure, victory was one thing but she wasn’t willing to give up either and… if they both held on just a split second longer…
There was an unfamiliar brush against her lips. She blinked rapidly in panic, freckled skin draining of color and contrasting harshly with the rampant flush that infected her face as her lips fully met Ash’s before her eyes fluttered closed and she internally rejoiced.
Her quiet, intramural celebration was cut short when, after a respectable amount of time holding her position, she eased her eyes open… and was immediately caught off guard by Ash staring wildly back at her.
A resounding thought crashed down on her as they slowly drew apart from each other, breath so shallow she wasn’t sure it was enough to sustain consciousness much longer.
“You… didn’t know, did you?”
(Oh, look, another fic I’m gonna have to write a sequel for! Feel free to send in requests for it! I’m gonna try and knock out another one already in my inbox before the end of the night!)
