I got an email from my grandpa today and all the draft responses Iâve been working on in my head sound like an 18th century letter thatâs going to have to travel for months to reach him.

President Trump is so fixated on finding a vaccine for the novel coronavirus that in meetings about the U.S. pandemic response, little else captures his attention, according to administration officials.
Trump has pressed health officials to speed up the vaccine timeline and urged them to deliver one by the end of the year. He has peppered them with questions about the development status and mass-distribution plans. And, in recent days, he has told some advisers and aides that a vaccine may arrive by Nov. 1, which just happens to be two days before the presidential election.
Trumpâs desire to deliver a vaccine â or at least convince the public that one is very near â by the time voters decide whether to elect him to a second term is in part a campaign gambit to improve his standing with an electorate that overwhelmingly disapproves of his management of the pandemic.
âWe remain on track to deliver a vaccine before the end of the year and maybe even before November 1st,â Trump told reporters at a Friday news conference. âWe think we can probably have it some time during the month of October.â
Trump has repeatedly offered similar promises, adding to the pressure scientists and officials at the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health feel to develop, test and authorize a coronavirus vaccine on what some of the presidentâs aides refer to as âTrump time.â
Several Trump aides said one key to the president winning reelection is having a vaccine or demonstrating rapid progress toward one, as well as a robust economic turnaround, over the next two months.
Democratic strategists, too, said a vaccine announcement could play in Trumpâs favor, but they cautioned that it is unlikely to significantly change the contours of the race.
âIf they pull a vaccine out of their a-- it will be the October surprise of October surprises,â said Cornell Belcher, a Democratic pollster. âI think youâll see some of the angst lifting off of the American electorate. But I think it will be difficult connecting the dots to Donald Trump given where public perception of him is on covid, and given that this is a guy who a couple months ago said people should try to get sunshine and disinfectants inside of themselves.â
There is intense disagreement over whether the FDA should use its emergency authority to clear a vaccine before it is formally approved, which some in the scientific community say could be dangerous.
Top health officials, including FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn and Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, have said a vaccine could be available before the end of the year. But they have been careful to qualify their statements and, unlike the president, have stopped short of promising one by then. White House officials also have been careful not to project a specific date for a vaccine announcement.
Fauci said in an email that âthe most likely timetable for a vaccine to be utilized by the publicâ is November or December of this year or the beginning of 2021. He said it is âunlikely, although possibleâ that the efficacy and safety of a vaccine could be determined in October.
Asked about an emergency use authorization by the FDA, Fauci wrote, âIf an EUA was granted before we had established that the vaccine was truly safe and effective, I would be disappointed. An EUA for a vaccine should be based on a considerable degree of safety and efficacy. .â.â. I would be against an EUA if it were issued without sufficient data to establish a strong signal of efficacy and safety.â
Other experts said it was unlikely that a vaccine would be ready by Election Day, but that Trump could be able to tout progress on it before people vote.
âEverything would have to be unfolding according to perfection,â said Scott Gottlieb, a former FDA commissioner in the Trump administration. âThe vaccine would need to be highly effective, and youâd need to have trials ahead of schedule.â
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has accused Trump of putting âpolitical considerations ahead of the safety and well-being of the American people with tragic resultsâ throughout the coronavirus pandemic. The former vice president said in remarks Friday, âMy guess is he is going to announce a vaccine, heâs going to say itâs going to be available around Election Day, heâs going to hype it.â
Biden spokesman Andrew Bates said Biden is eager for a swift vaccine, but not at the expense of safety.
âJoe Biden wants a safe vaccine ready yesterday,â Bates said in an email. âBut there is no excuse for the wealthiest, most technologically advanced nation in the history of the world being the hardest-hit by this pandemic. The inescapable, tragic, infuriating reality is that Donald Trump has never taken the deadliest public health crisis in 100 years seriously.â
FDA officials both publicly and privately insisted that politics will not influence their decision on when to approve a vaccine. Current and former administration officials, as well as vaccine experts, said they were confident in the career regulators at FDA to make a science-based decision.
One former senior administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share a candid assessment, said the FDAâs leadership is âweakâ and âfails to articulate that itâs going to stand for regulatory science.â But this official expressed confidence in the officials at the FDAâs office of vaccines.
âI know they take this responsibility very seriously and they understand whatâs at stake,â this official said. âWithout a clear blessing from this office, I donât think Americans would be willing to be vaccinated.â
Underscoring the concerns about the vaccine process appearing political, the Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh was unwilling to discuss the politics of vaccine development or assess how a possible breakthrough could impact the campaign â even though Trumpâs second-term agenda, distributed by the campaign, includes âDevelop a Vaccine by The End of 2020.â Murtaugh deferred all questions on the matter to the White House.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Matthews said in an email, âThe rapid research, development, trials, and eventual distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine is emblematic of President Trumpâs highest priority: the health and safety of the American people â it has nothing to do with politics. This President understands that this vaccine cannot get bogged down in government bureaucracy, which is why he has cut through every piece of red tape to achieve the fastest-ever launch of a trial.â
Inside the West Wing, there is some concern and nervousness about âpotential politicizationâ and people not trusting a vaccine if they believed it was produced in a ârushed process,â according to a senior administration official, who like some others interviewed for this story spoke on the condition of anonymity to be candid.
The administration has developed Operation Warp Speed, a process to mass distribute an eventual vaccine, and is planning a $150 million public service announcement campaign to convince people that the vaccine is safe, effective and can be trusted, this senior official said.
The communications strategy developed at the White House would limit Trumpâs personal messaging about a vaccine â other than to âspike the football,â as the senior official put it â and instead be led by experts, including Fauci, Hahn, White House coronavirus response coordinator Deborah Birx, and Moncef Slaoui, the chief scientific adviser to Operation Warp Speed.
The White House plan would stress to the public that a vaccine went through the âtraditional FDA rigor,â as well as seek validation from throughout the scientific community, in medical journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and from medical professionals with large media platforms, such as CNNâs Sanjay Gupta, according to the senior official.
The plan, according to a draft shared by the senior official, is to âreplace distrust, disbelief, skepticism and cynicism with trust, credibility, confidence, certainty, transparency and optimism for COVID-19 medical countermeasures.â
Although the White House aims to depoliticize the vaccine rollout, the draft plan lists as one of its objective to âensure the administration is able to receive due credit for undertaking this historic and unprecedented effort.â
Trumpâs opponents are preparing for the president to try to mislead the public about the status of a vaccine in the run-up to the election, much as he has exaggerated many other aspects of his record over the years.
Rick Wilson, a strategist who helps run the Lincoln Project, a group of anti-Trump Republicans airing advertisements aimed at defeating him, said the groupâs internal polling data suggests that many voters would not trust whatever breakthroughs Trump proclaims.
âWe think Trumpâs lying is priced-in with a lot of people,â Wilson said. âSo if he could say tomorrow, âWeâve cured it, itâs done,â many people, even some of his supporters, will say, âThatâs just Donald being Donald.âââ
Officials on the administrationâs coronavirus task force said that a vaccine was not on the agenda in the early months of the outbreak. Vaccine developments are discussed in smaller groups or among the principals directly involved.
âWe should have been talking about a vaccine instead of having weeks of discussions on masks, but they have caught up well now, it seems,â said one official familiar with the task force.
As part of the administrationâs communications push, Slaoui and Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar wrote an op-ed published Wednesday in USA Today describing how the United States was developing a vaccine at record speed with safeguards in place.
âThe strategy we devised for OWS will allow us to accomplish this goal while following all the same procedures for safety and efficacy, applied by the same apolitical FDA experts, that Americans expect with all vaccines,â Azar and Slaoui wrote.
Experts warned that Trumpâs promises that a vaccine would end the pandemic are dangerous.
âThereâs this general feeling that the vaccine is going to get us out of this. There are so many people hanging everything on the hopes of a vaccine starting in January,â said Rochelle Walensky, chief of the division of infectious diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital. âGetting out of this pandemic has to be a multipronged approach and no single thing is going to get us out. Certainly I donât think a vaccine in the short-term is going to get us out.â
Trumpâs repeated pressure on the FDA not only to approve a vaccine, but also to advance coronavirus treatments has undermined public confidence in the FDA, as well as in other federal agencies, according to medical professionals.
The FDA approved an emergency use authorization for hydroxychloroquine, an existing anti-malaria drug, to treat coronavirus, but had to eventually revoke the authorization because the drug was shown to be ineffective and cause heart problems in some patients.
Last month, Hahn and Azar appeared alongside Trump and hailed convalescent plasma as a âmajor therapeutic breakthroughâ despite the treatment being around for more than 100 years and having only a modest effect.
âIâd like to think at this point in the administration, when people see Donald Trump hyperbolize, they see it as hyperbole,â said Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at Childrenâs Hospital of Philadelphia. âThatâs the problem. If President Trump stands up and says, âThis is a major breakthrough, this is going to save all our lives,â people canât necessarily believe that.â

Random Concept: Zarya
The snow falls so thickly here it is impossible to distinguish bloody bodies from the broken bots littered amongst them. Even now, even years beyond the great omnic wars there were always battlefields like this... some public, others far more secretive, the cost of keeping the citizenry safe kept hidden.
Null Sector had long been a driving force of the omnic war, their bastion units and OR14s still plagued the nightmares of the veterans who somehow survived. Thought routed out, both by force upon the battlefields, and through purging of the infected sector technology... Null Sector was declared dead, vanquished, many years ago. However, there were those who knew the truth.
Overwatch, or more specifically Winston, had discovered a series of attempted breaches in his firewalls at Watchpoint: Gibraltar. Upon investigation, it was clear something intelligent had been probing cautiously against the base databanks of other sites; bearing none of the standard hallmarks of the infamous hacker, Sombra. This was a clear cause for concern, and sent a ripple of anxiety through the gathered heroes; Talon was a threat, yes, but they were well-known.
Fighting the unknown again brought up painful memories, even if they werenât acknowledged on a conscious level. There was always the chance that something had survived, a remnant... an errant patch of code that had access to the internet...
Or worse yet, as Winston had gravely confirmed, a sliver of what had once been the base AI of Null Sector being deliberately uploaded via neo-facist omnics. Robots of all different makes, who felt that their natural right to rule the earth had been thwarted in the past, only through the corruption of omnics by humans. The very idea of cohabitating with these biological entities and the âcode traitorâ omnics who sympathised, revolted them to their core.
It was their handiwork that had seen small scale data incursions on less encrypted sites, leading to both the loss of information... and life.Â
Though omnic citizens were often provided with the latest updates and anti-virus programs by the government, in much the same way their human counterparts received vaccinations and healthcare for free, it could not cover everything. Say, a malevolent viral AI that infected them through the ever-present wifi and reactivated ancient code deep within their cores.Â
Not all omnics were created as killers, no, but somewhere at the base programming level there were remnants from the days when they had been made as war machines by desperate, ruthless humans. Much like there were lingering pieces of genetic code in DNA that served no function unless activated...
Security breaches began on a global scale, and incidents involving compromised omnic citizens were increasing on a daily basis. Always spread out, always devastating to everyone exposed and leaving few survivors. Hate had begun to spread, spurred on by the fear of what was happening; the elderly recalled how it had been not so long ago, and children screamed themselves awake, uncertain why they could ever think the omnics would hurt them.Â
Null Sector wanted this, of course. Though the end game was clearly dominion, and a proper form once more, this end could only be achieved by... fanning the flame a little, instilling an Us and Them schism between organic and omnic.Â
It was getting exactly what it wanted.Â
When Winston caught on to what was happening behind the seemingly random attacks, he immediately briefed Commanders Amari & Morrison. So far Overwatch had been deploying teams whenever news of an incident occurring was received; but that was merely patching up the bullet holes, not unloading the gun, as it were. Something had to be done, something preemptive.
Junkrat and Roadhog had been pretty vocal about their thoughts on this whole mess, as they would, given the hellhole theyâd come from. Omnics had always been a source of fear and anger for inhabitants of the wasteland; although it had meant that Junkers were well prepared to tackle sudden attacks.Â
They were stretched thin as it was, with agents all over the globe right now. Certainly the aim was to subdue, not destroy, but it was proving difficult and exacting a heavy psychological cost on many of the heroes. With the support team working overtime to keep everyone functioning in the meantime... and Ana making sure the healers got a good nap in every so often, with no arguments.
DVa and Lucio had been working overtime to try and instill calm in the global populace, through direct action and appealing to their fanbases to understand that clearly it was not just ârobots gone badâ. Child-genius Efi, had personally upgraded the security tech on the omnic and cybernetic members of the group, trying to keep them out of reach. She had been helping Winston track the source for over a week, before they had pinned down the AIâs whereabouts.
And of all places, it was laughably ironic.
Of course, of COURSE it would be there... hiding under the very noses of the only people who hated omnics more than Junkers ever could.
Russia.
Of course.
-
She had not been particularly amused by the discovery.Â
In fact, it had infuriated her no end. A white-hot rage burning bright in her gut that seemed to flare with every beat of her heart; to think of the motherland so defiled once more, by the very thing that had nearly brought the world down in flames before!Â
No, Zarya was angry. Furious, one could say, but buried deep under a stony expression. A human volcano, threatening to erupt at any moment.
âNo. Uh-uh, I refuse to submit to such laughable conditions.â she informs Soldier 76, who looks harried even from behind the ever-present mask. Her brow furrows, âYou cannot stop me from going back to Russia, to fight for my people... and you cannot make me agree to join... what you laughably call a team.âÂ
âI understand you have an issue with the fact that theyâre-...â he attempts to negotiate, but she cuts him off by raising a hand to forestall any counter-argument.Â
âYou have not heard me, Soldier. My answer is no, and I will be leaving immediately, the people have need of my protection.â She stated with clipped precision, before turning on her heel and marching to the door.
She felt, more than heard, his sigh. Soldier 76 looked down at his desk, expression unreadable as he said, âYouâve gotta do what you feel is right, Zarya, I just hope youâre making the right call...â
As the door snapped shut behind her, the words seemed to echo throughout the antechamber of her skull; but they did not fracture her resolve. Straightening her spine, Zarya strode towards her assigned room, to ready for departure.
-
Far from the sleek design of the dropships Symmetra had constructed for Overwatch, the rickety military transport shuttle sent to fetch her home was most assuredly a relic of the war. Unearthed from a museum somewhere, perhaps.Â
Several teammates had tried to talk her out of stepping aboard that thing, but ultimately failed. She was known for being stubborn, resolute upon seeing through her set course of action no matter what may come.Â
By the time they had arrived at Volskaya Industry Headquarters, Zarya was violently aware of every bone in her body, and the manner in which the juddering ship had rattled them on the long flight. A few aches and bruises were inconvenient, but she could most assuredly ignore them for now; she had had worse and survived.Â
The meeting with the President was terse, as Zarya relayed the information she had on the situation. It was clear that the other woman knew more than she was saying, her expression falsely companionable, but her words guarded. Tired, and unwilling to play the word game politicians seemed to enjoy so much, she dropped her weapon on the polished surface of the Presidential Desk. It earned her a shocked look of disapproval, but also the silence in which to ask whether the exact location of the Null Sector AI was known.
âNo.â came the reply, then a pause. âWell, more precisely, not the exact coordinates, but we do have a general area of interest that our sources appear to believe is the epicentre.âÂ
âGood.â Zarya nods, almost to herself. âI will go there myself, and end this.âÂ
She had expected the President to countermand her, but silence was the only response. Zarya hefted her weapon, engaging the charging mechanism that sent little pulses of light throughout her suit and reflected in her eyes, before turning to leave the room.Â
-
Screaming filled her ears long before the transport landed on what little of the impromptu battlefield their forces occupied. From the intel she had gathered from the pilot en route, it appeared that one of the underground bunker facilities built by the government to protect the populaceâs top minds and advanced technology, was the source of the AIâs reign of terror.
The neo-Null Sector group had found one of the many emergency tunnel exits several kilometres from the actual facility site, and broke in. By the time local forces had come to investigate the security breach, the hatch had been sealed again, and fused shut. Alternate exit tunnels were spread in all directions, and they could not waste time searching for the next one; instead alerting the Russian military of the situation.
Although predominantly human teams had been dispatched to each of the exits to forestall any manufactured omnic units escaping unnoticed, the main battle was by the official entrance to the underground bunker facility. It had been cleverly seeded underneath a large stretch of land that normally appeared as former farmland, a carefully maintained cover. At current, all was blanketed in thick snow, icy winds curling over the landscape and draining the endurance of even the hardiest soldier.
Bodies and bullets clashed against omnic metal. Sharpshooters tried hard to target weakpoints before they, in turn, were shot down; ground troops swarmed in organised chaos, attempting to wear down their enemies through sheer force of numbers alone. Screams and beeps rang out, as one or another fell; the few medics dodged through the mess and tried valiantly to save whomever they could.
Towering over all, a large anti-aircraft weapon was being constructed, behind the raised entrance to the bunker, and well-attended by swiftly moving techbots. They seemed to be harnessing light construct technology, like that of Symmetra and Vishkar Industries, leading Zarya to surmise that at least some of their manfacturing omnics had been compromised by Null Sector.Â
The entrance itself was designed to swiftly rise from the snow in a large rectangle, and recede just as quickly; the main ideology being that the top minds could be quickly dropped off and hidden before the area was overrun. It was raised, and an almost never-ending stream of robotic beings trudged through the large open doorway.Â
One would think the large ones, the OR-14s and Bastions, were the greatest threat; but Zarya knew from experience that it was the smaller, faster compact omnic creatures that were deadlier. Often overlooked in the frantic melee of close combat, they zipped unseen across the ground; some used electricity to stun targets, others injected all manner of concoctions. To be tagged by them, was death itself out here.
Dotted amongst the throng of metallic bodies were omnics, some still wearing the clothing of their civilian lives as they viciously tore at the humans they had previously professed to care for. Hah!Â
Though in all honesty, Zarya found no comfort in being right. Even if the omnics here were fulfilling her greatest nightmare by turning on the humans they had previously lived alongside in âpeaceâ, she knew rationally that the majority were simply coerced into it. Humans could be too; brainwashed, and made to do awful things. She shook her head to clear the vague flash of memory regarding Widowmaker from within her mindâs eye; all too well, Overwatch knew that people could be broken and remade as Talon wished.
So too, in a way, these robotic creatures had been stripped of whatever it was that drove them... and had it replaced with a burning protocol of extermination. It was not quite like the battles of the past; every so often a face within the melee would be streaked with distress as they fought for their life against an omnic clearly familiar to them.Â
Cruel, though somewhat unexpected. Russia was quite against omnics as tourists, let alone citizens; but given the degree of interconnectivity the world had these days, it would not surprise her to learn they had met online.Â
Likewise seeded throughout the mess were Null Sector supporters, their gleaming purple armour signifying which side of the war they fought upon; and the obvious fervour with which they tore their enemies apart. Her gut clenched at the sight, the rage roiling around as her grip on the gravity cannon tightened; even if she could never bring herself to trust an omnic, this... this was far worse than that. To have learned of the terrible toll that Null Sector had wrought on the world the first time, and then to idolise them to the point of enacting the same thing once again?Â
It was sickening.Â
It was, she almost laughed to herself, utterly inhuman.
But they werenât, were they? Human.
And that... she could work with.
-
With a primal cry she leapt from the open door of the transport, boots thudding into the snow and sinking deep with the combined weight of herself and the cannon. Zarya couldnât even feel the cold lapping at her exposed skin, the thrumming fury inside kept her warm as she began to fire into the melee.Â
With deadly precision, she targeted the thicker knots of bodies clashing against one another. Bubbling those she could with a few seconds of safety, and drawing fire upon herself.
She was well-known as the hero of Russia, and when she commanded, people hurried to follow her orders. Moving steadily forwards with all the menacing might of a tank, Zarya did her best to protect the soldiers, and disrupt the omnic advance. It was key that they break through to dismantle that anti-aircraft gun, but for now reducing the clutter would have to do.
The laser charged swiftly under continuous assault, and she easily cut through several OR-14 shields, leading a swelling mass of military might behind her through the omnic-occupied territory. The OR-14 to her left manages to throw out a gravity orb, yanking her roughly off her feet and crashing into bodies several feet to the left. Nothing feels broken, but something is likely bruised; Zarya shoves the weapon to the side and pulls the closest personnel upright.Â
You should never linger on a battlefield unguarded, after all, and she would not leave comrades stranded.Â
Grimly amused, she faces the ragtag group of omnics hiding behind the OR-14âČs shield, alongside a hastily self-repairing bastion. âTwo can play that game, rust bucket.â she calls, and activates her ultimate, Graviton Surge. âFire at Will!âÂ
The black hole launches across the minor divide and hangs in the air, sucking bots of all sizes just high enough that they were free of the protective shield itself. The OR-14 fires frantically, making a distressed dun-daaah sound, as the omnics around it try to aim; the bastion is tilted to the side and cannot fire anywhere but straight through its allies. Several are cut in half by the turret, but overall it succeeds in killing several of Zaryaâs group.Â
The soldiers following her do manage to do some damage, but take an equal share. Bullets spiral past so closely that you can feel the heat sear your skin, and she curses the makers of her weapon for not finding a way to produce protective barriers at a swifter rate. So many she could save, and yet, not enough time to do so.
Shrieks and screams, the sounds of the dying will fill her dreams for years to come. This is a fact. It is her penance for not protecting them, as she should.
Graviton Surge dies with a sthlwip sound, swiftly swallowed up by the noise of other clashes occurring all around them. They are not even remotely close enough to the anti-aircraft turret to land a shot, and every second they waste on this endeavour seems to be counted in blood... her forces are depleted.Â
Zarya wants to regroup and save them, but for every bot they take down two more come out through the bunker entrance doors. Null Sectorâs AI must have figured out how to reconfigure the manufacturing droid technology stored down there; originally for crafting basic supplies or needs in times of crisis, and now ironically, contributing to their downfall. It was quite literally, now or never.
One foot after the other, the ache of carrying her weapon for so long beginning in her wrists, and the stinging of small hurts she could not quite recall acquiring were starting to drain her resolve. Minor inconveniences, she told herself, lives depend on your actions so keep going.
One step. Another. Graviton pulse, again, again, again. Another OR-14 and Bastion team down. More omnics, tattered clothing the only remaining signs of their once sentient lives before being reprogrammed into killing machines.Â
They did not deserve this, she surprised herself by thinking. Blinking, just in time to see a large arm hit her across the left cheek; Zarya didnât have time to brace, and so fell hard, twisting swiftly sot he ground was at her back and using the bulk of her gravity cannon to halt the oncoming strike. The metallic arm of a construction droid clanged dully, then it slowly reared back for another attempt; and she took the chance to roll aside.Â
In the few seconds it took to turn back and aim, the omnic was toppling over, lights blinking out as it was filling with laser pulses from behind her.Â
âAre you injured?â she snaps at them, eyes darting over the assembled group.
âWe were just going to ask you that.â says a brunette, a humourless grin splitting her tired face. She was familiar in a vague way, as were several others in the throng of military uniforms; looked old enough to have fought in the last war, which would explain the calm attempted humour.
âThen we proceed.â Zarya nods, turning fully to face their objective. Her cheek aches, as one would expect, but at the very least it had not been one of the bots created to reconstruct the city... there would have been nothing left of Russiaâs Hero if it had been. She absently uses a protective bubble on one of the younger soldiers, still somehow full of vigour and fire as he runs headlong at a pair of approaching null-sector bots. She barely keeps their bullets off him.Â
She hisses as something hits her in the side, and swears, something about their motherboards being devilspawn. It was not the best, so sue her. Her own barrier comes up and catches the rest, as she begins to slice through the oncoming wave of nullsector bots; distinct from the other omnics on the field via their uniquely uniform nature. It was like your worst nightmares come to life.
There is a crackle, and a cry... then another. Zarya risks a glance behind, to see several soldiers crumpling. One of the others unloads their pulse rifle right into the speedy little omnic zipping between their feet, taser arm outstretched. Someone swears, someone else gurgles and hits the ground on their knees; there is metallic clonking as null-sector troops approach. The brunetteâs eyes flare in surprise as her face drains of colour, and she falls dead at the feet of Russiaâs greatest hero.Â
Zarya throws a protective barrier around the soldier directly behind the brunette, and another of those little omnic assassins slams into it. And again. And Again. like a roomba failing to comprehend how walls work.Â
She takes two steps forward and brings her boot down atop it, crushing the thing to pieces. Fluids leak into the snow, no longer a threat. She should have known an electromnic wouldnât come alone, those blasted things always work in tandem.Â
Someone chokes to her right, the distinct sound of someone shot in the throat; there is no time to be sad, or angry. There is only the mission and a pile of bots to turn back into scrap. Perhaps melt them down and make a stylish, if impractical, toilet from, yes?
That thought brings a cold smile to her face.
The fighting is closer here, her gravity balls are no longer as effective as the laser; and even then, it is sometimes simply easier to beat the omnics with the cannon itself. There is little opportunity to throw protective barriers here, too; the space is limited, constrictive. One side bleeds into the other as the fighting gets closer. Humans to the front, intermingling; omnics pressing behind as they take on the soldiers guarding her back.Â
She cannot use Graviton Surge without catching a few of her comrades alongside the foe. Zarya tries to hollow out a space amongst the press of bot and body; to find somewhere she can safely deploy her ultimate ability and perhaps help gain more ground. All around, the shearing of metallic limbs, and the sickening rending of flesh from bones is overwhelming; a scent of charred flesh rises, choking those still fighting.
Someone pleads for help, another begs for death, a robotic voice spits out static-filled words of confusion and apology... the cacophony is enough to send one mad. But her eyes are fixed on the anti-aircraft turret, if they can just reach it, this battle might shift in their favour. Retreat, send in a more... missile-laden alternative, and shut this operation down once and for all.Â
No more lost lives...Â
Everything felt automatic, firing, reloading, projecting the barriers, punching, pushing, shoving, shouting, it was all just movement and noise and action. She had to reach that damn-...Â
Zarya is yanked into the air and hurled backwards by another gravity orb, damn these OR-14s; she barely gets the barrier up before it begins to fire. Her heartbeat quickens as the faint sound of a Bastion signals that itsâ own ultimate ability had charged sufficiently. Surging upright, Zarya runs a few feet forward and unleashes Graviton Surge; it pulls the Bastion, OR-14, null sector bots and several compromised omnics into the air in a writhing metallic mass that seems to keep growing.
âFire at will!â she shouts, just in case anyone behind her wasnât currently blasting away like a machine gun. Pieces of robot fell in dribs and drabs, several powered down permanently; Zarya aimed at the Bastion, drew its attention and kept her barrier up as long as possible as she fired on it. It can repair itself, but not fast enough under continuous attack.
It finally crumpled into spare parts with a loud angry wheet whoo of protest, as Graviton Surge faded and the remaining bots fell back to earth. The OR-14 was damaged, but threw up a shield swiftly, before placing a super-charger beside itself. The remaining Null Sector bots perked up at the boost, and began firing faster, cutting down the remaining forces on the field with devastating accuracy.
She could not save them all. But she tried.Â
By the time she took down the OR-14 and smashed the supercharger into fragments, there were few soldiers still behind her, much less on the rest of the battlefield. Everything was covered in steaming bodies and scarlet snow, sightless eyes staring at her and silently asking how she had not saved them. Her, Zarya... Protector of Russia... why not me? They asked.
She blinked. No, not now.
There were still people to fight, so they would. Even though Zarya noted that the omnics from every sector of the field were closing in, now that the human resistance was slowly dwindling to almost nothing under the never-ending onslaught. More and more omnics, nullbots mostly now, were swarming from the bunker entrance; threatening to overwhelm what was left of this foremost defence.
Zarya did her best to keep as many at bay with her gravity pulses and the laser... but there was only so much one person could do. Everytime she heard the hollow clank of an empty gun from behind, her stomach felt a little tighter; it had become the prelude to a scream, a signal of impending doom.Â
One by one they fell before and behind. Firing and fighting, firing and fighting until there was no other thought within their minds or muscles but to Keep Going until the end. She was breathing heavily, arm feeling heavy and stiff, face bruising and various points of her body alternately burning or going numb. It was like some parts of her had simply decided to drift away... a strange sensation.Â
At least there were now more behind, than before, Zarya thinks as her cannon beeps. She unleashes Graviton Surge again, and her battlecry is rather lackluster given that there are only a handful to hear it. They aim for the omnics in the air, and Zarya takes the chance to run for the anti-aircraft turret; it is huge, mostly completed and whirring as it turns. She fires gravity pulse after gravity pulse at it, damaging whatever she could, until the tell-tale sound of her ultimate fading catches her battle-dazed ears.Â
Predictably hurled backwards by an OR-14, she lands in the snow and has to fight to get up before they are upon her. She sees now, what she couldnât have whilst leading the others... they are, all of the humans, being sectioned off by walls of omnics and null sector bots. Isolated and assassinated. Kept from her line of sight, so she might not project a barrier to save them.Â
She curses, tasting blood in her lips. Ah, of course, sheâd bitten her tongue as she fell... Zarya fights the urge to laugh at the idea that in this battle, she had been the one to ultimately injure herself worse than anything the omnics had done so far. Picking up the graviton cannon, she aims into the enclosing wall of metal and fires, and fires, and fires again.Â
Aleksandra Zaryanova would not be going down without a fight.
Bots fell, others took their place. Screams and battlecries echoed.Â
The wall encroached, she could only put up so many barriers... Graviton Surge was nearly ready, but she needed a little more time...
Overhead, aircraft exploded as the turret fired at them, blasting them from the sky with merciless precision. Flaming piles of metal crashed all around them, flattening some nullsector bots, and filling the battlefield with smoking debris.Â
Zarya was not going to give up, but it was becoming more apparent that there was no way out of this alive... much less to finish her weapon. She could feel every hit she took, every pulse that her barrier wasnât able to catch in time... she fired back. But to what end? She wondered.Â
Zarya starts when something touches her shoulder, and she whirls around, cannon at the ready. To find... nothing.Â
A quiet voice whispers by her ear, âMiss me?â as something touches her nose, âBoop!â
âApagando las luces!â cries Sombra, bursting into reality in an explosion of purple electromagnetic energy. It hits the omnics surrounding them like a bombshell, and several appear to deactivate for a few seconds.
âWell?â Sombra prompts, gesturing. âIt wonât last forever...â
Zarya blinks, then starts to fire, unable to stop herself from asking, âWhy?â
Sombra rolls her eyes and hurls the translocator towards the anti-aircraft turret. âCanât let you have ALL the fun, mi amigo!â she smiles, fading out of existence and reappearing nearby. Clearly heading for whatever kind of control panel she can get her hands on...
In the meantime, Zarya was left with the issue of taking out as many null sector bots as possible in the few seconds allotted to her by Sombraâs EMP blast. Already many of the omnics were coming back online and regaining control of their weaponry, their sensors, and most importantly, their targeting array.Â
She ducked a hail of bullets from the swiftly-recovering OR-14s to her left, and blasted a nearby cache of nullsector bots. Her barrier caught the tail end of their fire, and protected her back for the few minutes it took to reach the bunker entrance. Zarya fired at it, her weapon not strong enough to bringing it down alone but perhaps if she can weaken the structureâs wall enough, they might buckle on their own. Only the roof and top of the facility were made nigh-impenetrable. The rest was standard metals, no one envisioned the facility being tunnelled into, after all.Â
One wall was semi-blackened, but barely showing signs of damage when she was forced to throw up her barrier and move back; the omnics were advancing on her position. An idea seemed to arise as the Cannon bleeped, signalling that Graviton Surge was finally ready again; Zarya backed away just enough that it appeared to be retreat. She was pursued, naturally, by the Null-sector bots and their large robot guards, the OR-14s.Â
Without any verbal warning, she unleashed the ultimate right above the entrance, ensnaring and suspending both those pursuing and the newly manufactured nullsector bots leaving the doors. Zarya activated her barrier, backing away and counting quietly in her head, waiting for-...
And it came. When her ultimate deactivated, the large mass of metal came crashing down on the entrance; one side bent inwards, and the other crumpled somewhat. It wasnât perfect, but at least it would slow the tide and hopefully buy Sombra time to hack that turret.Â
What the Talon agent was doing here, was anyoneâs guess, but Zarya could honestly say she was not ungrateful for the support. Perhaps her fears for her people had blinded her to the magnitude of the problem; that having backup was note merely an inconvenience. But ah, that was a concern for another time, when there were hopefully less robots trying to kill her.Â
There was a loud whrrrrrr as the turret powered down, followed by the sound of a small rapid-fire weapon being emptied into something metallic. Sparks flew as a faintly Sombra-shaped wraith dashed away, disappearing into thin air.Â
Well, at least she had gotten awa-...
âKzz-zz-Zarya?âÂ
That particular voice caught her off-guard, and she whirled about, eyes wide in surprise as they fell upon the familiar faceplate of the only omnic she knew outside of Overwatchâs team-members.Â
âLynx Seventeen? What are you doing here? It is not safe, leave.â she says, somewhat confused and not really processing the inherent danger of their presence.Â
âWhat I was a-asked to d-d-do kzzzst-z-z-Zarya...â Lynx Seventeen grinds out over static, voice modulator malfunctioning. Their antennae are twitching, moving in all directions as if trying to convey something through semaphore, she would have to make a joke about it another tim-...
Zarya chokes as a crushing weight slams into her chest, forcing the air out. An intense discomfort seems to spread out across her chest, over her shoulders and down her spine.
âIâm s-szzz-so szzz-zz-szorry Zzz-Zarya...â Lynx says, sounding genuinely distressed. âMmmmmaaaaade Meeee do i-eee-it, c-canât szzstop Nnnnull Ssszzectttor...â
Her weapon lay discarded on the bloodstained snow, and Zarya fights to gain control of her hands, they seem cold and distant, numb almost. One finally grabs the robotic forearm just barely poking out from her chest, she doesnât have the strength to pull it back. Thereâs a faint taste of blood in her mouth which can only mean her lungs are compromised, but she still tries to smile.Â
âIs okay, Lynx... Null Sector is doing this... you were not so... bad... for an omnic...â words are slurring out, but maybe because itâs so cold, or itâs hard to breathe properly. Lynx Seventeen doesnât move, even though they seem to want to run away from here, from this...
Zarya tries to take a step back and free herself, instead crying out as she trips over the severed arm of an OR-14. She hits the ground hard, in a manner that resonates the impact through her tired, battered body, at least free of the impaling arm.Â
The world always seems to slow down when you are dying, at least the movies got that right, she thinks. When everything seems to pause, just for a second, Zarya becomes aware of just how few are left alive. Notices the way the world is a stark contrast of white and red, how the snow is unrelentingly covering the broken bodies of human and bot alike.. like mother nature is pulling a blanket over this tragedy. Hah, how ridiculously symbolic.Â
She blinks slowly, copper in her mouth and her will to get up dwindling more than a little. Thereâs nothing to go back to, if they fail here.Â
Rapid fire forces several of the remaining omnics back, and she thinks she raises a hand as Sombra manages to hack Lynx Seventeen. Maybe gurgles something, because the hacker pauses to look at her, back to Lynx, and raises an eyebrow. Sombra mimes shooting them, but Zarya somehow protests.Â
Sighing dramatically, Sombra rolls her eyes and simply moves on. She thinks Lynx Seventeen is apologising again, but itâs lost in the background noise. Everything is secondary... the snow isnât that cold anymore, itâs soft at least.Â
Thereâs a familiar clanking, and she tries to find the words to warn Sombra of an approaching OR-14; wouldnât make sense for them both to die here, after all. All that seems to escape is a strangled rasp, which annoys her no end, but at least catches the hackerâs attention.
âNot so fast!â shouts a familiarly authoritative tone, as the remaining nullbots and omnics are yanked up by Orisaâs HALT!orb and thrown back. The shield projector hits the snowy bank at her feet and materialises, putting a definite barrier between Zarya and the Null Sector bots doing their best to kill her.Â
She hears a string of foreign words as a green streak shoots past overhead; but what catches Zaryaâs attention is gentle voice encroaching on the edge of her vision. Thereâs a strangely weightless quality to her body as something... something she knows but canât remember the name for... hovers above...
Her eyelids want to close... and she fights to open them again.Â
Above her, floating serenely, is Zenyatta. âThis will make you feel better, Zarya, please remain still.â he advises, in that gentle tone that seemed to set everyone at ease. Oh, it was an orb of... the good thing. She realised.
Her eyes shut again of their own volition as Orisa moves beside her, firing away at anything within targeting distance. In the same gentle tone, she hears Zenyatta serenely advise the surrounding Null Sector bots to, âExperience HOSTILITYâ before a series of metallic crunches announce the omnic monk has unleashed his orb arsenal.
Pain throbs, but lessens. Whenever the healers administered their potives or powers it always felt serenely odd... pain faded, but it was the sensation of your body knitting together again or bullets being expelled that always seemed to feel odd. As the moments pass, breathing becomes a little easier, she lets out a sharp gasp when the orb is briefly used for someone else... discomfort returns instantly and shocks her back to full awareness.Â
Zaryaâs eyes snap open and she fights to sit up, disgusted by how much of her own blood seemed to be coating her outfit, even if the wound has reduced from gaping to merely barely closed and was no longer seeping any bodily fluids. She nearly bumps her head on Bastionâs turret, heâs in sentry mode and merely turned to wave hello at the Russian before turning back to fire at anything that dared crawl out from the bunkerâs squashed entrance.Â
That explained why they had not been overrun from behind so far.Â
âWhere did you come from?â Zarya rasps, settling for propping herself up by the elbows. She notices Bastion pause to wave at her again, and she sighs before turning and saying âHello.â back. At which, he beeps happily, and shoots a hole through an encroaching construction bot.
Orisa looks down at her, setting a supercharger near Zaryaâs head, firing aimlessly as she answers. âWe were sent to assist you, the commanders were concerned about the threat you faced. Heroes should not fight alone.â
âI meant...â she struggled to find a polite way to say it. âWhy you? This Null Sector creature can control omnics, turn them... evil.â
âOh Efi has upgraded us to be resistant to this type of corruption of datafiles and purpose. Please be assured you are safe behind my barrier.â Orisa answers, and uses her HALT!orb again to snatch a series of assassinbots into the air, where Genji swiftly dispensed of them.Â
As if suddenly remembering, Zenyatta spun around and flicked a wrist at Zarya, his Orb of Tranquillity followed. It hovered overhead again, the gentle golden glow seeping a calming, gentle healing energy into her battered body.
âThank you...â she said, unsure what else to say. Their interactions up to this point had not been... positive. âBut why... would you come?â
Orisa looks down at her, âAre you experiencing a loss of memory, Zarya? Have you received a head injury during the recent battle? Shall I call Zenyatta to check your pupils? Who is the current president?â
Zarya stifles an urge to laugh. âNo, I-... well yes, I think I did. But I meant, why would you come out here to a place like this, for me...? I have not been very... polite... to any of you. You have no cause to-...âÂ
She pauses for a breath, feeling incredibly heavy and exhausted, drained of her will to stay awake. Zarya forces her eyes to stay open, stubborn to the last, and continues. â...-to risk anything for someone who has called you names, or treated you poorly... or said terrible things to your face...â
âSome have been harmed more than others by the War, and by Null Sector, it is understandable when they are crude toward cybernetic beings and omnics. It is not pleasant,â Zenyatta thoughtfully amends, kicking an OR-14âČs faceplate in, âbut it is understandable.â
âBesides, you are our teammate. Whatever we think of one another off the battlefield, you have never failed to protect us on it, and that is commendable.â Genji adds, sheathing his sword and striding over. He sinks to sit beside her, looking down pensively, but without malice. âI would hope you now understand that there is nothing worth your rage or your fear, in any of us.â
Zarya looks away from the piercingly earnest gaze, and finally lets her own eyes close. âNo... you have weathered my misplaced... anger... long enough.â
Thereâs a bright flash that even Zarya can see from behind her closed eyelids, and then a voice filled with barely contained amusement speaks. âAwww, thatâs adorable. But if you are all finished with this telemundo moment, perhaps we could get out of here...â
Sombra.
Zarya cracks open an eye, and spies the camera. âYou can surrender that now, or I post your real name on the internet.â
Sombraâs eyes flare with a momentary note of tell-tale panic, then her expression morphs to something so mischievous even the fae must envy it. âOh youâre no fun, Aleksandra... I was just capturing a beautiful family moment!â she chirps. And in that moment Zarya knows with dead certainty that the hackerâs already found a way to upload that photo.
âHave it your way... Olivia.â she retorts, pushing herself up into a seated position, just to watch Sombraâs expression morph to one of mortification and frustration. A familiar dropship seems to skim overhead, then continue on itâs way; thereâs nowhere on the field to land now. Too much debris, human or otherwise.
âWell, arenât you lucky I called you an Uberwatch?â Sombra teases, then flicks a chip through her fingers with dexterity and grace. âOh, and the AI, Null Sector? Trapped it on here while you guys were being mushy and dramatic. Iâll give it to you if you promise not to put my name on the internet... and also, maybe... give me a ride?â
âI am sure the Commanders would love to have a chat...â Genji intones, deadpan. Sombra rolls her eyes in response and mutters something along the lines of, âOh I bet they do...â
Bastion shifts back to his bipedal form, and waves at Sombra. Perhaps charmed, she waves back.Â
Amidst the conversation, Zenyatta hovers by Zarya, hand not quite touching her shoulder as he asks, âHow are you feeling, Aleksandra?âÂ
She casts about for a good response. âBetter?â yes, that seemed to work nicely.
âMy apologies, my Orb of Tranquility cannot work as swiftly as Mercyâs nanotech, but I am pleased it has alleviated some of your suffering.â Zenyatta responds, nearly drawing back as Zarya leans back into his touch and smiles.Â
âYou saved my life, there is no need for apologies...â she pauses, âZenyatta.â The name comes out a little distorted, itâs the first time sheâs actually said it, so it was bound to be a tad strange shaping the foreign syllables in her mouth. The omnic monk seems to brighten considerably at that little overture of companionship...
âYou honour me.â he merely responds, turning his head instead towards a nearby snowclad hillock beyond the anti-aircraft turret, above which a blue flare has just popped. âAh, it is time to leave. Are you well enough to stand, Aleksandra?â
âYes, of course!â Zarya responds, pushing upright... then falling straight back down in the snow. âApparently not.âÂ
Sombra snorts, trying to contain her laughter. Zarya rolls her eyes. âFind something funny, Olivia?â
Sombra snorts again, âN-nope. Nothing. Pffft!âÂ
Genji takes her arm as she stands again, and he encourages her to lean on him. From her perspective, she could probably break the offence hero in half if she fell on him... but as if sensing the thought, Genji shakes his head. âYou are lucky I am indeed more machine than man, you weigh almost nothing to me, please let me assist you.â
She raises an eyebrow, âYou do indeed have the heart of a man in there... very, how is the story? Ah! Very âWizard of Ozâ, no?â
âPlease, never tell my brother that reference or I will never hear the end of it, Zarya, promise me...â he pleads, suddenly very aware what such a pun could mean in terms of sibling warfare.Â
She nods, placatingly. âDa, I promise.â
They set off at a slow pace, Bastion continuously sweeping the area as Orisa leads the way, pretending not to notice how joyfully Sombra sits atop her back. Genji props Zarya up as they walk along, she is still tired and damaged to hell and back, but at least she can move forwards under her own power. Well, technically speaking... that is.Â
Zenyatta floats behind, sombre as a tombstone across a mass grave of human and omnic alike. He turns, and looks knowingly towards a rather large pile of discarded OR-14 parts, tilting his head. âYou can come out now, you are safe, my friend.â
The others pause, turning to see a rather skittish looking omnic appear around the edge; their clothes tattered but still technically on them, and their antennae flat against their head. They were hunched, like an abused animal waiting to be scolded by an angry owner; tense and afraid of what may come next, but unable to stop it.
Genji felt Zarya flinch a bit as the omnic raised their hand to wave, and noted the thick coating of blood that seemed to coat the metallic forearm. He moved slightly in front of the taller woman, trying to give her a sense of security whilst she was feeling vulnerable; as others had for him, when he was... recovering.Â
âZ-zarya, Iâm so sorry about that... I couldnât stop, it wouldnât let me... I didnât mean to-...â They said, all in a rush, looking anywhere but the Russian.Â
âLynx Seventeen, did you want to try to kill me?â Zarya asked, voice... cool, somewhat emotionless.
âNo? No! Of course I didnât... I mean you can be rude, and annoying sometimes, like when we looked for that hacker for the President...â they pause, looking at Sombra, âthat one over there actually... but I would NEVER-...!â
âThen it is not your fault. Null Sector made you do it. No big deal.â Zarya answered, cutting off their panicked explanation concisely. You could feel Lynx Seventeen relax from across the gap between the two parties.Â
That resolved, other omnics of all shapes and sizes seemed to follow Lynx Seventeen out from behind the pile. All newly returned to their senses, and the control of their own bodies again; some seemed scared, others traumatised. Zenyatta did his best to console and comfort them all; offering them the chance to follow him to somewhere safe, where they might rest for a time, until they felt better.
A second flare rent the air, as if they assumed the party hadnât seen the first.Â
âTime to go then?â Sombra prompted, sliding up on Orisaâs back and patting the space behind her. âWeâd get there faster if youâd just get on...â she sang to Zarya, who looked like sheâd rather die.Â
The Russian rolled her eyes, steadying herself on her cyberninja crutch, âI would prefer to walk, it is not that far.â
But it was too late.
-
And that was how it came to be that Soldier 76 had to call Ana from the cockpit of the dropship, certain his visor or at least his eyesight, was malfunctioning. For there, in front of them, coming over the hilltop was Zenyatta, Genji and Bastion and Genji, leading a small army of misplaced and half-naked Omnics of various shapes, sizes and makes.Â
But the true question of sanity was just beyond them. Over the crest of the hill came Orisa, and mounted atop her back was Zarya, Orisa, and an oddly familiar omnic clinging so tightly to the Russian she might snap in half.Â
Ana rubbed her good eye.Â
Soldier took off his visor and stared accusingly at it.
They looked to one another, shrugged in unison and got ready for take-off.Â
It was just one of those days...

Iâve been asked by Minister Bailey to pray this lovely first Saturday in September morning that God will purge and cleanse our life, Our Leaders, and Israel, Israel with no end in sight to the turmoil in the Middle East, all signs and prophecies seem to point to an escalation in the violence and conflict. Yet no matter where you stand politically or spiritually regarding the current unrest in Israel or here, as Christians we can unite on one front: prayer because God calls us to always pray not just for ourselves and loved ones but people, even our enemies, nations, and for our leadersâ that they would submit to His leadership for the sake of His will being done and for the advancement of His Eternal Kingdom. As followers of Christ, we need to pray for our leaders both in and out of the election season. But Iâll pray for Israel first and then for US. With all hearts and minds clear let us go to GOD in prayer:
Almighty God Creator and Sustainer of the Heavens and the earth and all there is⊠How Great thou are Everlasting, All powerful, All knowing and ever present King of Kings and Lord of lords, I adore and trust You wholeheartedly and thank you day and night for my life and salvation from the enemy, myself and Sin, for my wife, sons, family, friends, for your calling and ministries You have me serving in and your favor, provisions, healing and help. Help me to Love and forgive as youâve forgiven and continue to love and forgive me and keep from sin and temptationsâŠ
My God, You are the Rock and Redeemer of Israel. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem. We are sad to see the violence and suffering as men, women, and children are injured and killed on both sides of the current conflict. We don't understand why it has to be this way, nor do we truly know if war is right or wrong. But i pray for justice, your sovereignty and righteousness, Lord. And at the same time, i pray for mercy. For everyone involved i pray, for governments and peoples, militants and terrorists, i ask for your kingdom to come and rule over the land. Shield the nation of Israel, Lord. Protect the soldiers and civilians from bloodshed. May your truth and light shine in the darkness. Where there is only hatred, may your love prevail. Help me as a Christian to support those who you support, Lord, and to bless those who you bless, my God. Bring your salvation to Israel, dear God. Draw every heart to you. And bring your salvation to the whole earth. Amen.
Now Lord, we know that in the midst of this time, You have kingdom purpose. You have brought our country to its knees through many crises. But Nothing that is happening is a surprise to You. You see the big picture, and You are at work in ways that we cannot see. Please guide the direction of our country to seek you, turn back to you and away from evil and wickedness. Lord, You said in Psalm 47 that the leaders Kings, Queens, Presidents, PMs of the nations in the world belong to You the King of KingsâŠ
King of the Earth, i pray for the President. Please give him divine wisdom to lead our nation. i pray that he would serve and revere You in his words and actions. I humbly ask that You grant him grace to know how to unify our country when it feels so divided in so many ways.
We are facing immense crises regarding public health, a seemingly unending politicized pandemic with unprecedented mandates for masking and vaccines, financial hardship while Big Pharma and Big Tech reap the profits, social discords, sexual sins, gender neutrality, cancel culture, economic shutdowns, racial relations and tensions, illegal aliens, suicides, overdoses, devastation from violence and riots in the streets by BLM, Antifa, Proud Boys and other gangs to raging fires, water shortages to too much water from hurricanes, homelessness, drugs, porn, addictions, rapes, mass murders and more murders, and great political division among many other things. Our President faces fierce challenges and crises on the domestic and international fronts with the failed Afghanistan withdrawal and tensions with Iran, North Korea, China, Israel and more. Please grant our President divine wisdom to navigate our country through the uncertain path that lies ahead. His failures are a reflection or representation of US. I donât want him to fail.
I lift up the Vice President who has also been harshly criticized, cabinet, and advisors to the President. The Bible and history texts are full of examples of counsel to the king resulting in laws and decisions leading the entire nation toward peace and prosperity or toward division, destruction, and even collapse.
I pray that You would give this President wisdom to surround himself with wise Godly counselors who have our countryâs best interest at heart. Grant them all wisdom to advise the President in the course of action he should take. We pray that You would surround the President with sound, wise even Godly counsel to direct him as he tries leads our nation.
In 1 Timothy 2:1-2 You said we should pray for our leaders and others in authority that we may live peaceful lives in Godliness and HolinessâŠ
Prince of Peace, i pray for the Senate and Houses of Representatives as they make laws to govern our land and delegate our nationâs resources. Grant them wisdom to allocate our resources wisely. Please raise up people who will make laws to protect our freedoms so that we can live peaceful, quiet lives in Godliness and dignity.
As with the general political climate throughout the nation, members of Congress are fiercely divided into tribal political parties unwilling to work together and compromise for the good of the nation. I pray against this divisiveness that plagues our land. I humbly plead that, by Your miraculous power, the members of Congress would put their agendas aside to work together in humility to serve for the good of our nation as our nationâs leaders that are suppose to be representing US as we elected and expect them to do.
Lord Jesus, You are the Righteous Judge who will judge the nations, so I lift up our Supreme Court. We pray that they would judge rightly before you and uphold what is true independent of conservative or liberal lean. We pray for balanced judgment that upholds our Constitution as they are appointed to do for the benefit of all Americans. Grant them divine wisdom to decipher what is right.
And then I pray for the judges across our land from the local level to the high courts. Help them to judge wisely and fairly. Please give them wisdom and discernment to balance justice and mercy blindly and not for political reasons. Raise up righteous judges who fear You and will judge in accordance with the laws of the land. Give them wisdom during these divisive times to do what is right no matter the social or political pressures.
Father God, I pray for our governors (especially those facing recalls or calls to resign to do the right thing and if theyâre replace that their replacements do better) and our state and local officials. Grant them all grace to face their unique challenges or crisis in their states, cities or borders; and regarding secure voting measures, political unrest, COVID restrictions, financial crisis, law enforcement, racial division, schools and so on. Please give them insight into the needs of their communities and those concerned or affected. Give them discernment to make decisions to lead their states and communities well, especially when natural disasters strike and or the federal government is not doing enough or failing them.
Dear Heavenly Father, we are confident that You sovereignly place every leader and that You have marked the days for which You use them for Your purposes. By Your mighty hand i pray that You would be merciful to our nation to work in the hearts of those to whom You give authority. We pray for peace. We pray for unity. But whether in conflict or unity we are confident that You are implementing Your plan and accomplishing Your will.
Lord of lords, You appoint the nationâs leaders, in Congress and at the state and local levels. I pray for our leaders to protect our freedom so that we might live out our Faith freely without fear or persecution for Living, Preaching and standing on Your Word even in our businesses or places of employment.
I pray for the salvation of all of our nationâs leaders that they may know You. Place people in power who revere You and will serve You for the good of their communities to Your glory.
Lord Jesus, though our hearts are heavy for Israel, our nation and its leaders, may we not lose sight of the fact that our hope is in You. One day, every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that You are Lord (Romans 14:11; Philippians 2:10-11). You are our only hope.
Forgive us for placing our hope in the government, political ideologies, comfort, financial security, social groups and other circumstances. We repent that, in our prosperity, we have forgotten You and have become self-reliant (Deuteronomy 8:11-14). Our hearts are so quick to wander. We repent of idolatry. Help US Holy Ghost.
Holy Spirit, teach us to live with the realization in the forefront of our minds that our citizenship is in Heaven (Philippians 3:20) The New Jerusalen. We commit our future as a nation and as ΄our people to Your Hands. Your will be done. Hallelujah and Amen. 2 Chronicles 7:14 đ„°đđŒđșđžâ„ïžđ #REBTD đ #FAITHoverFear đđŒđđŒđđŒ

JUST IN:Biden Slams Trump Over Hack, Coronavirus Response.
PRESIDENT-ELECT JOEÂ Biden on Tuesday sought to draw sharp contrasts with outgoing President Donald Trump, detailing how his incoming administration plans to respond to the raging pandemic and a massive cybersecurity breach of U.S. agencies and businesses.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
In what are expected to be his last remarks before Christmas, Biden laid out the challenges that his administration will face next year, urging the need for further bipartisanship to overcome them. And when it came to the recent wide-ranging hack on U.S. entities including the Treasury and Commerce Departments, he placed the blame squarely on Trump and lashed out at how his predecessor âfailed to prioritizeâ cybersecurity over the past four years.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
âThe truth is that the Trump administration failed to prioritize cybersecurity â from eliminating and or downgrading cyber coordinators at both the White House and the State Department, to firing his director of the cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency, to President Trumpâs irrational downplaying of the seriousness of this attack,â Biden said from Wilmington, Delaware.
âThe assault happened on Donald Trumpâs watch when he wasnât watching,â he continued. âIt is still his responsibility as president to defend American interests for the next four weeks, but rest assured that even if he does not take this seriously, I will.â
Biden pointed to comments from Trump appointees Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Attorney General Bill Barr who have indicated that Russia is likely responsible for the hack. The president-elect agreed that it âcertainly fits Russiaâs long history of reckless and disruptive cyber activitiesâ and called on Trump to officially identify who is responsible for the breach. Russia has denied any involvement.

But Trump has been unwilling to pin the blame on Russia and has downplayed the breach, tweeting that it is âfar greater in the Fake News Media than in actuality.â He asserted that the situation is âunder controlâ and floated the possibility of Chinaâs involvement before veering into disputed claims about the November election. No other official has linked China to the breach.
Biden outlined how he will assemble a team thatâll bolster the countryâs cybersecurity capabilities and be prepared to confront potential threats from abroad.

âCyber threats are among the greatest threats to our global security in the 21st Century,â Biden said. âWe must work with our allies to establish clear international rules and mechanisms to enforce them and consequences for those that violate them.â
Biden, who received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, opened with his praise for health care workers and others who worked on development, distribution and participation in trials. He reiterated his plan to combat the pandemic after he takes office on Jan. 20 â a mask mandate thatâs expected to last for 100 days and billions more in funding to improve testing and vaccine operations as well as measures to blunt the economic fallout.

Biden applauded Congress for âdoing its jobâ late Monday and passing $900 billion in coronavirus relief, which includes $600 stimulus checks, enhanced federal unemployment benefits, small business and rental assistance, among other things. And he renewed his call for lawmakers to once again pass additional aid early next year.
As Trump gets ready to leave office in the coming weeks, Biden has used public appearances to draw a distinction with the outgoing president, especially at a time when the country is facing a coronavirus surge with a record-setting number of cases, deaths and hospitalizations.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Biden, whoâs started to take more questions of late, spent 20 minutes answering reportersâ wide-ranging questions.
The president-elect was pressed on why he has yet to name a nominee for attorney general, but he rebuffed questions about whether he was waiting to see what the outcome is in the Jan. 5 runoff elections in Georgia. The two Senate races will determine which party controls the majority â and whether Bidenâs nominees will face more challenging confirmation hearings.
In response to a question about his son Hunter Bidenâs federal investigation, he said thereâs been no discussion about the matter with any potential nominees. And the president-elect reasserted that his pick to lead the Justice Department will remain independent and not act as a lawyer for the president. Biden said heâll make additional personnel announcements some time between Christmas and New Years.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
As speculation swirls about whether heâll only serve one term, one reporter asked if Biden, who will be the oldest person to serve as president, will file quickly for reelection when taking office. He wouldnât comment on his future plans but followed up that he wonât be a âlame duckâ over the next four years.
âIâm not going to be a lame duck. Just watch me. Just watch me,â Biden said, with a laugh. âFrom this point on, for the next several years, there is one objective and itâs not my political future, itâs bettering the circumstances for the average American.â

DIFFERENT SCENES FOR DIFFERENT GENES
I scry with my third eye. Something beginning with...V...Police patrolling the parks for people in numbers of more than two. Partners in masks, holding hands in gloves and everyone suddenly vulnerable, unable to gather in packs and gain vicarious strength. Droplets on breath, float and melt into eyes and everybody keeping their distance now paranoia is no longer irrational but sensible. Hello, hope you are doing okay.
This crisis will bring out ALL the best and the worst in people, in both selfless and panic based behaviour. The imminence of a possible bad death or infecting one you love can focus the mind wonderfully on what truly matters to the individual. Adults and children are dying independent of age and previous health status or racial characteristics, remorseless and random. The chaos plague in action and it is mutating. So let's have some lively imature comedy before we get deadly serious.
There are many who will use this situation for political ends and many rabid Endtimers of apocalypse who will be rejoicing somehow that Christ will soon return and save his flock of sheep. Two recent quotes direct from Trump's twitter; 'Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord' (Matthew 21:1) Well...'Oh God!' is what millions cry in orgasm. 'But the Lord watches over those who fear Him, those who rely on His unfailing love'. (Psalm 33) Really? How many God fearing Christians have died so far and in all the previous plagues? As one American (or maybe hacked by Russia) site says; 'You can't hold hands with God when you are masturbating'. In other words Donald, if you are a wanker you will not get into Heaven. But I digress...
And other fundamentalists who have yet to notice that the virus is killing everyone from all groups, not just those who disagree with them. Kick them hard between the legs if they say this within earshot of you. Hard enough to stop them breeding. (Sidenote... nice to hear that many more pregnancies than normal have been logged over the last few weeks...folk staying at home with nothing better to do and subconsciously wanting to keep the population up. Arf. It is already up. 66.44 million people in the UK (of which England is 56 million)and the UK annual deathrate has been 9382 for the last five years.) Coming and going in the name of the Lord, hallelujah and pass the holy blood...
There were some people at the start of this, a doctor, a couple of journalists who started to warn about Covid 19 in December/January. They were quickly removed by the communists. The world could have had an extra five weeks to prepare and take measures. Hopefully many countries, if unable to actually sue the Chinese government for being totalitarian swine (and why not - Loss of earnings, cause of mass death, covering up facts and lying to health organisations) then the least we can all do is to stop buying ANYTHING from China. Check the labels first. The West has been outrageous in its kow-towing to a regime that machine gunned its own children from tanks, uses unwilling organ donors, transportse ethnicities of Tibetans and Muslim communities to âre-educationâ camps. WE should have been ashamed. Now we should be angry. BOYCOTT CHINESE GOODS FOR ONE YEAR, GET THE COMMUNISTS OUT.Â
Speaking of which, the âBritishâ deal with Huawei...giving even the crack of a possibility that a nation with such serious issues with âfreedomâ and murder of its own citizens should be in charge of Britainâs infrastructure for information and hospitals and surveillance and....Well...it seems...how to put this...f..ing stupid. Done only in order to ensure more investment by China in our shrinking economy. âWhen China sneezes, the world catches a coldâ...the markets certainly are. But sellers of respiratory face masks made in guess where are doing well. Well you know everything is made in China...
Globally, right now, we seem to have the worst possible leaders in charge for this crisis. The weakest, craziest and the most despotic (very often all in one). China, with mass interests in Africa and South America has sold the media line that the virus is an American creation to protect their newest client base. And every single damn time Trump opens his mouth, he just makes everybody on the planet who did not vote for him, all the less likely to believe a word. Or even that he exists.Â
Horrible to see Michael Gove praising the medical staff in Britain for working their hearts out during this crises. He was one of the Tory MPs who voted against giving nurses a small pay rise in 2017. All but one did so, and when the vote was 'won' , the Conservatives let out a loud cheer. They cheered. Cheering now boys and girls? Many thousands of Labour supporters voted Tory in December simply because Corbyn is pointless as pointless can be and the Stalinist Momentum group trying to take over the party are bloody dangerous. I will never be a Socialist but I would truly like to hear why the posh rich boys thought it unnecessary to give a little bonus to nurses and why the bastards cheered. Unforgivable.
Boris taking cold revenge on the BBC for having had the temerity to ask him impertinent, salient questions in December...by decriminalising not paying the license fee. Succumbs to the virus after having taken three days to even organise a COBRA meeting of the highest and then shilly shallying for several weeks longer before acting to lock down the city. Enough time for the shops to be emptied in fear because Britain chose to be self isolating before Covid 19 was even known about. Anti bacterial soap stolen from hospitals. How many readers saw the photographs of the London underground the Friday after its Lord Mayor begged the public to stay home? Packed. Five percent in masks. Hoards of idiots at weekends getting drunk in London and the USA. âItâs only the old and weak who dieâ. No it isnât. By no means are all those dying are old and previously ill.
This is what happens in various (if not most) countries, when the masses are not educated to cogitate for themselves. Governments neither need nor want the majority to be clever and ask questions at any point. They need basic workers, such as the ESSENTIAL WORKERS these days...easy to spot, they are the ones being paid the least amount of money) The masses are disallowed genuine opportunites to make money and keep it without being taxed at every turn. These two things result in vast populations who have been educated to be less than intelligent and millions who cannot afford to stop work and self isolate for a couple of months. They donât have private health schemes, stocks and shares, a rich daddy or friends, family jewellery , a second car to sell or gold bullion in Switzerland. They have what they do daily, to make them money and pay bills and rent. Many of the poorest in numerous countries, live with their parents and grandparents. No real alternative but to work, mix and bring the virus home.
What would be wonderful would be if the landlords, big bosses and bankers (who, well...appear to have quite a lot of moolah) would say, âokay...you know what...no need to pay rent for two or three months and perhaps there is no work to be done but I wonât lay anyone off or count this as sick leaveâ. How f..ing likely is that to happen? There will be a few who will do the right thing. The rest will remain as the bastards as they always were. May the Devil take them.
And as for the hackers blackmailing hospitals...when they are caught, strip them, parade and flog them till bloody, and then put them away for Life without parole. At the very least. I would turn them loose in a crowd of those they had caused pain to. The same goes for any leader who had given them orders.
And ooh, ahh...the deadly serious internet conspiracy...apparently Bill Gates is acting like Thanos or a James Bond villain but without the charm and sense of humour. If this virus had been created by Man deliberately, there would already have been a vaccine somewhere. Perhaps there is. If you really are a nut, then watch where the cure seems to originate from and trace it backwards. And which of the ' Elite' refuse to have the jab. Interesting to think how long the Chinese (or anyone for that matter) have been eating bats and only now does this spring up. Yum yum. Yab Yab.
To quote from the master again..âConspiracy is contagious and so is worrying about it. At such time, theories about totally imaginary conspiracies also escalate, because (a) times of transition make people nervous and uncertain, (b) nervous and uncertain people tend to become at least a little bit paranoid, (c) most people most of the time follow their own prejudices and anxieties much more than any technique for ascertaining objective facts, and (d) most people have no knowledge of the techniques or self âdisciplines necessary to the search for objective facts.Robert Anton Wilson, Right Where you are Sitting Now. (Ronin Publishing)
Meanwhile...John von Neumannâs game theory continues to be used in global warfare scenarios...they are still attempting to overcome the odds against negative outcomes...More satellites fired upwards, planning to use EMP to disable the enemyâs networks before they do the same. Peace and goodwill to all, Amen...AI Terminators building the Matrix etc.Â
But I remember some time in 1997 after five years of various daily practices in England and Czech Republic, a sudden moment in the countryside walking down a small valley...having an absolute instinct that humans would never be strong enough to destroy this world. Simultaneously there was a sure and clear feeling that I no longer lived in the time stream of a world which would be annihilated by nuclear war. Through my baby steps towards tiny pulses of enlightenment, I had stepped across to a parallel world. Breaching a strange loop in a 'quantum-jump to a different order of coherence.' (Identical, but not one in which such insanity would happen...)Â
Twenty three years later after dropping many of the disciplines I had used in the Nineties and getting caught up in the horseshit of trump and such others - and my own failing mental health, I seem to have crossed back over into a world which is worse on many levels. There were flashes back then, revolutions without bloodshed, with dialogue, and agreements (even if based on trade and power sharing) but step by step, what I call the Conspiracy of Counter Evolution (Neophobes) struck back at the possibility that humans could do the right thing. Dragging the masses back into petty squabbles and bloodshed based on the three main (as they like to see themselves) religions and the eternal struggle for resources. Of which there are plenty for quite a few hundred generations yet, as long as we stop eating bats and don't allow the fundamentalists to wipe us out in the name of a merciful God. Nationalism and Religion are the perfect illusions with which to rule and dominate the gullible through fear, unprovable promises and selfish pride. And resources are mace to look limited and endangered in order to drive prices up. Fear, as was said, is big business.
âDonât associate with people who have a low view of humanity; itâll give you a low view of yourselfâ Mark Twain. And thus I remain cynically optimystic.
Did you know that 10 hours exposure to low doses of ketamine âenhances corticostriatal cross frequency coupling and hippocampal broad band gamma oscillationâ...? Useful to know eh? Many things have the same effect without resorting to horse tranquiliser...like focusing on changing brain speed via breathing. He says on Codeine, whisky and Tramadol. And no doubt burning out all the couplings between the trains of thought but only last night. You will âbe right thereâ? I will be wrong here.
I recently had a dream where I had set up a solo concert, all equipment ready, tuned strings, prepared gear etc, then on stage an hour before the start, realised I had forgotten to invite anyone...Hmm...Two more quotes...
âThose who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitableâ. JFK.
âThe only reason a caterpillar âknowsâ how to become a butterfly...is because genes contain a memory of the future. This is a metaphor, remember, it may be a very useful one, at that.' RAW.
SO, HOLD ON TO YOUR SANITY, RELEASE ALL TENSIONS AS YOU WILL, BUT HARM NO ONE. KEEP A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOUR AND LOVE LIFE, FORM AND FORMLESS. BE AWARE AND SEE YOU LATER...D.
