I've always wondered, if Satan is mounting a revolution, is he trying a futile endeavor, or doing something where if he succeeded he would retroactively be ethically in the right?

It's fascinating how a lot of Evangelical Christian anxiety about Satanism seems to be rooted in the unspoken idea that if the Devil gathers enough worship he'll depose God and become the new God, because that's not the party line in any major religion, but it is how it works in Dungeons & Dragons.

#similarly if you go by the apocalyptic viewpoint #that our society is doomed and that the only thing to look forward to is people who repent being allowed into heaven #any political power grabs by evangelicals #including attempts to stop people from sinning #are similarly futile endeavors to Satan trying to become God.#Of course that assumes these people have consistent and serious beliefs
