It isn't more than a 15 minute walk, but for me, the moment I step outside on Union Station and onto Massachusetts Avenue, it is like coming home. As I walk towards the Capitol, the domestic is often all lit up and acts like a homing beacon. If it is during the day and I don't have a lot of luggage, I often walk down Capitol Hill and to the National Mall. It is free to the public and encompasses most of the facility. It is free and they always have amazing exhibits. Mom and I saw a CHILULY exhibit here in 2007.
