Natural Light in the Workplace – The Best Way to Design Daylight Into Your Office | Studio AsA
Tumblr media
We have an internal connection with the natural world as humans, and this bond extends to the light that infuses our surroundings. According to research, natural light has been found to affect our mood, productivity, and general well-being significantly.
Designing a space that facilitates these beneficial impacts of natural light is crucial when it comes to the workplace. We’ll explore the advantages of natural light in the workplace in this blog post, along with advice on how you can incorporate it into your Commercial interior design.
Therefore, read on to learn how natural light may significantly enhance workplace efficiency and satisfaction, whether you’re an employer aiming to increase employee happiness and productivity or an employee seeking a more rewarding work environment.
The Real Advantages Of Natural Light In The Office
For a workplace to be healthy and productive, natural light is essential. It not only improves the aesthetic attractiveness of the office but also provides physical and mental health benefits to employees. Some of the main benefits of having natural light in the office include the following:
Better mood: Serotonin is released in the brain due to exposure to natural light, which can improve mood and lower the risk of depression.
Increasing productivity: According to studies, people are more productive, concentrated, and efficient when they work in areas that receive natural light.
Better sleep quality: Natural light exposure during the day can assist in regulating the body’s sleep-wake cycle, resulting in better quality sleep at night.
Less headaches and eye strain: Artificial light is harsher and harder on the eyes than natural light, which lowers the possibility of headaches and eye strain.
Higher energy savings: When included in workplace design, natural light can greatly reduce energy costs connected with artificial lighting.
In any office architecture design, natural light is a significant commodity that offers several advantages to both the staff and the business. Employers may establish a brighter, healthier, and more effective workplace by putting natural light first.
How to Make Your Office More Natural Light-Filled
Employers would be advised to take every possible measure to increase natural light in the workplace, given its good effects on workers and their productivity. It can be accomplished in a variety of ways with the help of Commercial Architecture in Pune, such as:
Make Your Place More Open
Creating an open workspace is probably the simplest technique to maximise natural light in an office environment. It will make it possible for natural light to flow freely throughout a workplace environment. Employees are given more room to move around thanks to the open design, which is an additional advantage that is thought to boost efficiency at work.
Setup a Transom Window
The frame of a door or an existing window supports a transom window, supported by a horizontal beam above. Originally, this style of window was utilised to increase lighting without letting visitors’ eyes inside the space. In order to improve natural light in any space, we recommend installing a transom window now—the more windows, in our perspective, the better.
Design Your Workspace with Mirrors
Mirrors assist in reflecting natural light, allowing the same amount of sunlight to enter the structure yet accounting for twice as much. It is a simple and practical technique to increase natural light in any space, but designs must be carefully considered because reflections from mirrors can occasionally strain certain people’s eyes.
Think about the Colour Palettes for the Office
Your office’s colour scheme can greatly impact how well natural light is used. Darker hues frequently absorb light. Lighter colours, on the other hand, will reflect light, increasing the amount of light that enters a room. Light shades of grey, beige, and white are frequently used to enhance lighting, but they can also depress some employees.
Choose Commercial Flooring
Due to their colour and light reflection qualities, some industrial flooring, such as vinyl, can aid in enhancing natural light. When designing an office, one feature that is frequently overlooked is the flooring. However, since light is generally directed downwards, it should be a key consideration, especially if you plan to use natural light.
Eliminate Obstacles
With a few easy modifications to the office furniture, offices sometimes can get extra natural light. The quantity of natural light that may enter the entire space may be improved by rearranging cabinets, workstations, and other furniture. Due to the necessity of those products for work, this simple, inexpensive alternative is frequently disregarded.
Not Using Blinds or Curtains to Cover Windows
Many workplaces have enormous floor-to-ceiling windows, but they are often kept obscured by blinds, which is a waste of space. It implies that whatever natural light they might have access to remains unnoticed. In order to prevent glare on screens, blinds should be left half open. It will allow light to be adjusted as needed.
Adjust the Artificial Lighting
Use various artificial lighting options if your room doesn’t receive much natural light. Digital screens and computers, particularly those used in offices, send light straight into the eyes. As a result, it’s critical to have the correct type of ceiling to provide high-quality light for optimal health. Combining artificial lighting may warm up a room by imitating natural light.
Putting Up Glass Walls
Instead of solid, opaque walls, offices with glass walls will benefit from increased natural light flow. A clear material, such as glass or clear acrylic sheeting, will allow light to pass through the office. At the same time, solid walls prevent it from doing so. Glass walls make an area more open and welcoming while also increasing the amount of natural light that employees are exposed to.
Maintain a Minimal Design
Allowing natural light to enter an office space isn’t enough; you also need to make sure it can move throughout the entire area. Wall-to-wall windows and skylights can be less effective if there is bulky furniture in the path of the light.
Reduce the room’s furnishings to ensure this won’t be an issue for a future project. If the amount of storage space needed makes this impractical, consider choosing fashionable lockers that can be transformed into a feature wall, leaving the center of the workplace open and not obstructing the flow of natural light.
The Bottom Line
The entire working experience can be greatly improved by incorporating natural light into the office interior design. However, these are a great place to start if you want to maximise natural light in your office. We believe that by giving you a sneak peek at how it can be set up in the office, you’ll be able to provide more natural light for everyone’s benefit.

Ocean-Eco City towers💚🍃🌏 . -The Green architecture moment view- Follow @viewarching for more projects and news. . These types of cities are called ecological cities … Although not in the world today is so common, in the not too distant future it will begin to densify due to the same worrying situation of the environment. These are the amazing Mangrove Ocean-Eco City towers that are connected on the upper level by huge roof gardens and pools with a lush tropical landscape was located in Malaysia by CROX Architects. . An ecological city is a human settlement modeled on a self-sufficiency and supply structure and with functions of ecological and natural systems.  Green cities offer a healthy abundance of resources for their inhabitants without consuming more (renewable) resources than it produces, without generating more waste than they can assimilate, and without creating toxicity for the city itself or the ecosystem.  Its ecological impact on its citizens reflects a lifestyle beneficial to the planet;  its social order reflects the fundamental principles of justice, equality and equal distribution. . green cities have lost steam in favor of something more realistic and almost immediate future, such as smart cities.  In this case, it is much easier to approach concepts consistent with reality, since smart cities are developed through today’s cities.  For example, Barcelona is considered in Spain as a territory that can be considered as a smart city in many areas.
