the way this teacher enjoys abusing his power dynamic with the other students, but with nueng it's "oh no, no punishments apply to you", because he knows the power dynamic is different here. the way the school system allows teachers to abuse most children with no repercussions simply because most students don't have any power over how their teachers act and treat them at all. horrific.

reaching a compromise is important. for example, i am compromising my morals by liking a character who is a finance bro. /j

it's actually really sweet that the scene with the vendor & thugs shows that at the end of the day palm and nueng have very similar outlooks on life. they are able to help in different ways, but they both really want to help others. especially those less fortunate than them in whatever way.
