It was a bright and sunny day. Birds were chirping, deer frolicked freely, and the sound of armored horses echoed through the forest. It would be absolutely peaceful if these soldiers weren't on a crucial mission.
See the entire royal family, save for 2, were dead. The king, throat slit. The queen? Hanging from the balcony, her own entrails used as a noose. The prince wasn't much better as a broom handle was found shoved down his throat. There weren't even any cousins left, their bodies were found in the stables covered in horse shit.
The only survivors were the princess and former queen. Unfortunately, the princess was bedridden and hadn't moved in weeks. Thus, the former queen, now the current queen, had to retrieve the hidden bastard. She herself had 16 children, all of whom were dead to her or actually dead. The king and his bitch were fools to stop at 2. At least the King had a bastard.
Dionysia was a fair but iron ruler, and her views were both expansive and traditional. She needed her blood on the throne, even if it killed her. Which is why she sent her best soldiers to retrieve her hidden gem.
---
The village would be surprised as these soldiers burst in. Every person would be grabbed and examined roughly. These soldiers were looking for a mark. A mark that Dionysia had carved and tattooed onto the bastard herself. A strange, nearly amorphous symbol to most. Uneven antlers, covered in tentacles and webs.
There were five soldiers, not an inch of skin was seen under their armors.
A bowman, with light armor and fine engravings.
An axe weilding mountain of a woman, with a boar's head adoring her helm.
A mage, wearing heavy armor engraved with runes and profane symbols.
A swordsman, calm and poised. His armor had cats on it.
Finally, a beast of a man. His armor had strange beasts carved on it, and was a mix of metals and bone. He was easily twice the size of the other soldiers, and rode some strange beast into town. He was not rough, and he was soft spoken.
“By orders of the Queen, we seek Blackburn.”

Quint looked down at the vice grip on his arm. It was a bit more touchy-feely than he was used to.
“Nothing to be scared of.”
He paused, unsure how to deal with the strange, crying man.
“This porker is dead… can't hurt us now.”
Did the shark kill someone the man knew? It wasn't a big porker, not like some Quint had seen.

“I’m not scared, what makes you think I’m scared?” Dwight asks this, shaking in his boots and clinging to the other’s arm like his life depended on it.

I dunno, I feel like for something like RWBY a game like Super Robot Wars with its bigger focus on high budget flashy animation would fit better (especially mechanically with its larger individual character movesets)
-I have never heard of that game
-RWBY can exist in multiple game genres!

I think it’d be safe to call her power “20/20 Hindsight” if only because she’s able to pick up on what people did wrong before they even realize it themselves and save them a lot of time
I saw a few people say the same in the reblogs. Looked up the word and it seems to fit well!
Foresight for Sapphire, Hindsight for Padparadscha… I wonder what kind of vision other types of sapphires would have.

I feel like RWBY's biggest problems with things like power levels of characters not making sense and characters having to be made weaker to keep the fights the way they are is the fact that there's just. No ruleset to how powers work in practice, there's no way to really follow what characters are going to do or what their options are because the writing for it is so inconsistent.
You have a very real and valid point. The truth of the matter is - there’s just no way to accurately (or even simply) gouge a character’s strength in RWBY. Aura has been so rarely discussed in canon other than the simple basics that we don’t know a character’s aura limitations (i.e, how many hits can a character take before having their aura is broken, how much does it take for them to use their semblance, do they have a big pool of aura (other than Jaune but he doesn’t use whatever ‘semblance’ he has so there’s no right way to estimate that either).
We don’t know if its possible to increase it through training your aura “pool” (sorta like chakara from Naruto) or if its a set amount that you start and end with. Through Beacon, we didn’t see any sort of “training” other than the melees Glynda overlooked and the occasional history/port class. The history class from Oobleck sheds some light on what happened in Remnant but even then, those lessons where so short and had the barest of “reveals” for what’s going on that at some point it felt pointless to listen. Port’s class on grimm was used to introduce “funny scenes”. The only time I can actively remember him discussing anything grimm related is literally the first time they have class, where Port has Weiss battle the boarbatusk. Without Ruby’s insightful shout of “under the belly” for Weiss to aim for, I can’t recall, at all, anything useful on the anatomy of Grimm and weaknesses. These classes they had at Beacon don’t reveal anything. It’s all pretty much left to the audience to guess that they’re making “improvements”. Not that it matters though, because they actively choose not to show said “improvements”. The inconsistency in how strong a character is in RWBY is so incredibly frustrating.
We don’t know if they got even slightly better after those months at Beacon. We only saw those team attacks that they had when fighting the Paladin Robot thing but as for individual stats wise, we just don’t know. And that’s crazy. I’ve never seen a show that focuses so little on just showing their audience “Hey, this is currently where they’re at right now. After this training session, they got this much better” for a show that revolves around fighting/super powers/etc. I’ll use Boku no Hero Academia as an example (of the many). We see how the MC has this ridiculous power he can’t control and completely obliterates him if he uses it. Through the episodes it shows him slightly learning how to better control it, how to tone it down, how it works, etc. RWBY is literally this guessing framework where the audience has to actively try and come up with a reason as to why this character got so easily beaten in this one fight (by not using their semblance or skills or whatever it is they apparently “learned”) when in a similar previous fight, they won relatively easily and kept using their semblance with no issues. Some might say “well they had a fight a little while ago” but that just brings up this blatant, burning question once more, “Well, how long does it usually take for someone’s aura to ‘recharge’ back up?” We don’t know.
RWBY lacks so much consistency it’s beyond funny now and just downright painful. I want to see character growth. I want to see what these characters learned in their time at the supposed most greatest school for huntsmen and huntresses in all of Remnant (if they even learned anything other than team attacks). I want to see how - despite their growth - this more powerful villain isn’t phased by their current level in strength, and see how these characters work around it either by coming up with something clever or learning a new trick.
I don’t want to see how in one fight they’re using their semblance left and right like there’s a Semblance Sale on Aisle 8 (get it while its hot) and in another fight its as if they’ve forgotten they have one. At this point, I just wish they’d iron out the details/rules for how these things work and try to introduce them better throughout the next volumes. But already the damage has been done, in my opinion.

I have to wonder if there is an anime out there that dumps the harem premise or the love triangle premise and just goes for a polyamorous relationship... It'd be nice to see cute stuff happening with that rather than things involving jealousy and bickering like you usually get. :
If it’s any consolidation, I think the Light Novel version of Re:zero addressed that Subaru displayed interest in having a poly relationship with both Rem and Emilia to make a compromise with Rem’s feelings. Though this was not alluded to in the anime.

Yang never being taught about her semblance at what was supposed to be one of the top combat schools in the world is absurd and only says that the teachers had an incompetent program. Any Shonen "kids with powers going to a special school" story worth it's stuff has some classes for power management and education and advice

It was a lazy day at the cove, the sounds of oceanic life vibrated readily in the air. Vacationing and fishing humans swarmed the neighboring beaches and left the cove well alone. Local superstition and a recent murder kept folks away. The occasional rebellious teen slips in, only to be startled and flee.
Rebellious merfolk loved it here, as it was once a prolific nesting ground. Shallow pools and safe channels provided a good amount of oxygen and protection to their eggs. Its use had been abandoned long ago, when humans encroached upon the area. It didn't stop the occasional couple from attempting to nest in one of the more reclusive pools.
Easy omelets to the occasional carnivorous visitor.
Terho lounged across some of the raised rocks, the sun beating down on his scale-less hide.
A yawn would escape him as he stretched. He took a moment to raise his arms in the air, and look at them. They were covered in scars, which was apparently repulsive to the local merfolk communities. He would never understand their need for being unscathed and brightly colored.
They were supposed to be camouflaged to hide, not look like the fighting fish he was so fond of.
Either way, he slithered down into one of the shallow pools to scare the next passerby. He hoped they dropped some food, he didn't feel like hunting today. He got into position when he heard a noise. Was it from the water or land?

Khan looked uninterested in the whelp on the floor. He peeked at his mighty hammer, bloodthirsty battles replayed in his head fondly. Another memory surfaced, and took the man by surprise. He'd keep it to himself, and peeked back at the mortal.
"Mileena, take it to Shang Tsung… or to the training grounds. Make sure it survives."
He looked at his daughter, her eyes were still.
She wore a tan tunic with black pants. Leather armor and padding accentuated her musculature and provided close combat protection. He internally wished she still wore her ceremonial dress. It was much nicer, and he had spent so much time making sure the slaves perfected the gift.
"Mileena…"
No doubt she was thinking about the possible uses for the damned creature. Unlike Shao Khan himself, Mileena randomly adored or detested such worship. No appreciation for divinity, she needed to work on that.
"You can keep it as a pet if you must, but I may have use of the wretch at some point… and do not let the beasts of the Fleshpits at him. I know what happend to your last pet, girl."
Shao looked down at the mage with a hard stare. He wanted to break the little thing. See what it was made of. It had been too long since the last interesting pit fight, and Shao wanted the beasts to have a challenge.
Mileena on the other hand looked to the witch with a jealous twinkle. Anything that held her father's intrigue was a threat. He often got bit in the ass while meddling with things and leaving loose ends untied. Kitana and Mileena often snuck around, tying things up for him.
"... yes father. The human will not be killed… or fed to the beasts."
Predatory eyes landed on the mage and she walked over. A clawed hand grasped the man's shoulder, and he was roughly pulled to his feet.
Mileena was taller, and her hair was long and braided. She looked as if she had changed into more casual clothing after a dance.
"Move."
Mileena hissed as she "gently" guided the mage from the throne area. Shao Khan began speaking to one of the guards behind them. It was a rough sounding language, and the mountain of a man stood up and sauntered away.
Continued from here
The staff was held limply in Dwight’s grip, another attempt to summon some sort of spell, anything to get him out of this bind. Yet each time he waved his staff, the magic fizzled out, his spells crumbling before him. Perhaps it was his paralyzing fear that prevented him from performing successful spells. His heart hammered against his chest like a drum, his demeanor resembling much of a mouse.
Small, frightened and groveling.
Dwight knew how to survive, how to recognize where power was and who it resided in. It was because of that recognition of power that Dwight was able to survive as long as he did. For the man held no power himself, always smaller than others, puny and pathetic. His best bet was to grovel before those who could crush him, for a better chance at living through it.
This was no different. Dwight gulped nervously, trying to think of what to say. “I…” He gulped. What could he say to satisfy this monster of a man? He bowed his head slightly in cowardice and shame. “I-I can’t be of any use to you, I’m not good at anything, I won’t able to serve you; please return me back to my realm!

Monsoon was such a shitty fight No room to combo,...
You’re supposed to parry the body parts he throws at you and you can EM grenade him to get him somewhat stunned. I’d recommend watching ChipCheezum’s LP to get a better picture of how that fight is meant to go
No I parried the hell out of him and I loved that. But it was just the constant little scenes where he’d jump away and scream about magnets before lobbing junk at you that was so boring since he does it 4 or 5 times
Mistral did the same thing, except you followed her around and jumped all over the place to keep up all while being swarmed with Dwarfs. Cutting Monsoon’s head was really fun though after parrying him in magnet-mode
