[ @literare 🌿 ] ❝  i think maybe we just need a break from this cabin, ❞ hayden finally blurts, pushing aside the book she was mindlessly reading. she's never been good at just sitting around, doing nothing; she has to do something, even if their efforts are mostly futile out here. ❝  we could go to the lake. it's not exactly paradise, but — the air's clearer than here, and i think being stuck here is probably making us lose our minds. ❞ that's not entirely true, though, and hayden knows that. it's not the musty air of the cabin that's getting to them, it's the lack of food, the lack of hope, and as hard as hayden's trying to hold on, she knows it won't be long before she feels overwhelmed by it all, too. ❝  come with me? ❞ she asks, despite posing it as something to help mila — it's just that hayden needs it, too.
