My top 10 favorite Arashi's Music Videos

To celebrate the 25th anniversary and the fact that MV are now available on YouTube (what a time to be alive...) I wanted to compile a top 10 list of my favourite Arashi's MVs. And it turned out to be quite hard. My last cut from the list ("truth") was painful. 😭 But I did it.

Just couple of things before we start.

This is my very subjective list. If your favourite MV isn't here, I'm sorry, we just have different taste.

I'm choosing basted on the MV itself. For example, I love "I seek" as a song; it's my go to karaoke song, but MV for it is... Not my cup of tea to say the least. In other cases, like "Bittersweet", live performances outshines MV itself.

MVs are in chronological order. Don't make me rank them, I can't 😭

And now, without further ado...

1. A･RA･SHI

What can I say? It's their first MV, it's their debut song... It's iconic. It's also nice to see how far they've come. They are still babies here. 😭

2. Kitto Daijoubu

I honestly forgot about this until I was watching all MVs on November 3rd. And omg, it's so fun! The bad green screen, 4th wall breaks, rainbows, Arashi acting silly... it has it all!

3. Happiness

Let's be honest: you knew this was coming. If someone held a gun to my head I asked me to choose one of Arashi's MV as my favourite, I'd choose "Happiness". Aeons ago, someone said that this MV is 100% Arashi in Arashi and I can't disagree. You have it all: Arashi acting silly, pure chaos, Ohmiya... A LOT OF OHMIYA. And some small moments for other pairings too. xD

And it was also the first MV of them I saw.

4. Crazy Moon~kimi wa muteki~

This maybe an unorthodox choice because it's a very simple dance MV... And that's the reason I chose it. Arashi don't have any other video like this. Just them dancing to the song in an empty hall. Without any backdrop or outfit change. They had to sell it to us by just dancing. And I think they succeeded. The choreography is interesting and bravo to the stylist because I think they all look so good here.

5. My Girl

Story MVs are rare in Arashi videography. Practically just "Aozora pedal" and "My Girl". And since my best friend hates MV to "Aozora pedal", I have to choose "My girl" xD

But in all seriousness, it's really cute story where Arashi play siblings who are moving out of their family home after the death of their mother. Their mom is Photoshop monstrosity made of different parts of members' faces xD But MV it's cute nonetheless.

I remember all the fan fiction this video inspired... Good times... xD

6. Troublemaker

This is the first MV I remember waiting for. And I don't wanna say it is here just because of nostalgia. I think it's just really good video on its' own merits. I like stop-motion sequences, I think those suits are impeccable outfits and... there's a lot of Ohmiya. xD Look, I'm a simple gal, if Ohno and Nino are acting cute together, I'm putting the video on this list. xD

7. Aozora no shita, kimi no tonari

I think this maybe another unexpected entry. It's not a very popular MV. It's very simple. And maybe that's why I like it. It was shoot in outdoor locations; stylists again done wonderful job - they all look so good. I love their individual shoots, especially Aiba sitting on the edge a platform looks angelic. And the bbq at the end... ♥ This MV just feels cosy.

8. Fukkatsu Love

It's just good, I don't know what else to tell you guys. I love the parts they shoot in those long takes... Touma is there! It's just so good!

9. Don't You Get it

Another obvious entry I think. They all look good here, they all acting goofy, Sho and Nino do magic tricks, Ohno has hilarious face expressions whenever you pause the video, there's a doggie and Ohmiya dance (I've told you, guys xD)

10. Do you...?

We started with the their first MV, it's appropriate to end at their last. (AT THIS MOMENT! I HOPE 😭) "Do you..." if wonderful homage to Arashi's journey, full of easter eggs to all the previous MVs. And it might be its' only flaw - that it doesn't work so well in a vacuum. But if you were on November 3rd 2020 when this MV and Arashi's last album dropped, you were feeling it. You were crying, you were smiling and you tried to notice all the references to previous MVs. Maybe even at the same time. xD

KOKIA updates: Nov. 23 - Dec. 1 2023

Admin note: As explained before, I am currently still not able to provide full translations within a reasonable time frame, so below follows a summary of KOKIA’s recent updates on her official channels instead. Thank you for your understanding. I will soon make a new post to explain the current situation.

In her blog entry for November 23, KOKIA announces that she's planning a regional (Japanese) tour in 2024. Her first stop will be at the Yokohama red brick warehouse in February 2024. For now, club members of fan club ancoro have been informed about the fan club only pre-sale of tickets, so no more information has been publicly shared. They can check the MEMBERS page on KOKIA's official website for more information in case they missed the mail magazine.

Also in February, KOKIA will perform at the Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall in Tokyo. In her news entry for November 27, she shares the information for Harmony for Ukraine: a gift from Japan (Nihon kara no okurimono). It's a one-time only performance with prayers for peace, featuring live artists and ballet, for the children of Ukraine, on February 25, 2024. Advance tickets are on sale via Capital Village now until December 5, operating on a lottery system for performing artists. The event will start at 16:00 and run until 18:30, and tickets are ¥ 5,800 (tax included). Children under 3 have free admission. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to UNITED24, the Ukrainian government-run fundraising platform.

The artists listed are Chikako Sawada, Keizou Nakanishi, Nataliya Gudziy and KOKIA. For ballet, Yuuichirou Takemoto, Marina Emura and others are listed, with (partial) special directing by choreographer Guy-Paul.

Via McJLing on Twitter: tickets for KOKIA's 25th anniversary concert Live in Shanghai 2023 are on sale for Chinese fans starting December 1 (previously, only Japanese fans flying in could apply for tickets directly via KOKIA's office). The concert will be held on December 17, 19:00 CST at the new North Bund AIA Grand Theatre (友邦北外滩大剧院). The ticket website is here.

The trailer for the movie of the NHK tv drama Kaze yo arashi yo (‘The wind, the storm’) has been uploaded to YouTube. KOKIA worked together with composer Yuki Kajiura to create the ending theme,  Kaze yo, fuke ('May the wind blow’), which can be heard in the background in the latter half of the trailer. The movie will debut on February 9, 2024; the song will be featured on Yuki Kajiura's upcoming album The works for soundtrack II on December 6.

Arashi to reunite at the 25th anniversary ?

Ohno is saying that activity will resume three years after the Arashi hiatus because "we will not end like this".

"The live performance at the National Stadium, which was scheduled to take place in May, has been postponed, and we are adjusting to hold it in the fall.

However, It's uncertain when the second wave of the new coronavirus will come, and it seems that the prospect of realization is not yet standing. (Event personnel)

Japan has been regaining its former daily life after the declaration of emergency by Corona Era was lifted. However, Arashi's "full revival", which announced the suspension of activities at the end of this year, is still ahead.

"The regular shows "Arashi ni Shiyagare" (NTV) and "VS Arashi" (Fuji TV), which all five people have performed, are still being recorded remotely. It seems there are no members in the studio yet. Regarding to the future, members are consulting at remote conference.” (TV station official)

 Abandoned performance in Beijing, China in April... The Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games also will be postponed to the summer of '21.  Were scheduled to serve as special navigators at NHK, The last year Arashi had in mind a “farewell”quite different from reality and seems Arashi is a thing they can't left behind.

"At the conference in March, NHK said, "We are not thinking of changing it at this time," regarding the continuation of Arashi as special navigator, and they added implications for the continuation of activities in '21. It seems that fans are flooding with voices saying, "I want you to postpone hiatus for a year". 

For that reason, the “long-awaited theory of extended activities” is increasing day by day.

However, leader Satoshi Ohno (39) seems reluctant to extend. "During his self-restraint, Ohno was looking forward to watching the drama “kasei otto no mitazono” (TV Asahi) starring by Masahiro Matsuoka (43). He has been painting and drawing friends at home. While spending more time than ever before, Ohno seems to think seriously about the future, but Ohno says he has no idea to extend the rest of his activities."

On June 16, Arashi appeared in an online distribution live. It was performance like a live concert for the first time in 3 months, but… "Arashi's activity suspension was decided by Ohno's request to "I want to live freely", and the members also decided to "take a break for the leader. At the beginning, when Ohno proposed a break, It seems that he was thinking of quitting the Johnny's office. In addition, Ohno has a plan to live relaxedly on the southern island from next year, and he said in January last year, "I do not know when to resume activities."

Arashi has always emphasized that "if there are not five people, it's not Arashi."

If the leader won’t resume activities in the future, Arashi will end.

However, there was a "plan" behind Ohno's refusal to postpone the activity. It is said some plans are moving below the surface in order to resume Arashi activities three years later.

Therefore, it is said that three years later, in '23, they will be reunited at the 25th anniversary event of Arashi's debut. They are planning to convey their gratitude to the fans again."

Who is showing a positive attitude to reassemble, It is none other than Ohno. "Recently, Ohno is very positive about Arashi's activities. When all the members delivered a picture-story show he said, "Let's all dress up!" And in addiction on July with new single "Kite" Arashi will release a painting made by  Ohno as a “ongaeshi” to his fans (a gratitude gif). It is said Ohno is offer to the members various plans for events that will please the fans into three years. Ohno's "change of mind" that even he thought of leaving the office for a while. There was Ohno's new determination because of corona spread."Events were canceled one after another, and the fans were sad, so seems Ohno felt "responsible for the rest..." Then “I can't end...", he said, somewhere in his mind.

In the meantime, into three years there is the new goal for Arashi "resuming activities on the 25th anniversary". The new plan was set, and Ohno's feelings have relieved.

Until then Ohno said "Let's relive Arashi with an experience that I have never been able to do and power up the next three years to comer!”. Ohno's "promise to members" seems to have had a positive effect on the group. “In each member views the suspension of activities as “individual skill improvement” and seems to be more motivated to resume. At present, it is quite difficult to do a new large-scale tour within the year. 

Therefore, it is said that there are plans to hold a tour and a live at the National Stadium again at the 25th anniversary event.Matsumoto Jun (36), who is in charge of live production, is already thinking about some production plans.”

Ohno had declared that he would "improve himself".  And He will  led the "strongest Arashi of all times", and that will be seen on stage in 2023.

In his original A Real American Hero incarnation, Storm Shadow's real name is Thomas S. Arashikage (トーマス・嵐影) (Arashi meaning "Storm" and kage meaning "shadow" in Japanese), a Japanese American. Storm Shadow served in the U.S. Army special operations group along with Snake Eyes, and later invited him to train as a ninja with his family in Japan. The duo have been everything to one another from the bitterest of enemies, to the most loyal of friends, who would fight and die for one another.

Storm Shadow can trace his family history through thirty generations of assassins. He is an 8th degree black belt in several martial arts, and can endure unimaginable amounts of hardship and pain. Storm Shadow moves with blinding speed, can scale sheer walls with bare hands and feet, and is an expert with a long bow, katana, shuriken and nunchaku.[2] He usually wears a white uniform and mask. When out of his uniform, he is shown to be Japanese with black hair and dark eyes.

In 2007, the character's creator, Larry Hama, revealed an alternate name for the character, Tomisaburo Arashikage (嵐影富三郎), in the solo series Storm Shadow. His tattoo is a hexagram of the I Ching named 既濟 (jì jì), or "Already Fording".

Storm Shadow was only listed with a rank while a member of the Joe team. There are four instances where his file card provides a pay-grade: 1991, 1994, and 1997 releases all have him listed as a Master Sergeant or E-8 (the same rank as Duke), and in the 2007, 25th anniversary release, the file card lists him as E-5.

Japan Box Office: JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 Film Makes Its No.1 Debut with Strong 1.6 Billion Yen

    As expected, JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 dominated Japan's box office last weekend. The 105-minute film earned a strong 1.622 billion yen (14.11 million USD) on its first Saturday and Sunday, which was 9.54 times more than the opening gross of The King's Man, which debuted in second place.

  The film, which is based on the JUJUTU KAISEN manga's "volume 0" story, was released in Japan on December 24, 2021, and made 2,694,128,150 yen (23,546,058 USD) on 1,908,053 admissions from its three-day total. It was the second-biggest three-day opening weekend gross in the history of Japanese cinema, behind only Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train, which recorded the three-day opening weekend gross of 4.6 billion yen (40 million USD) in October 2020. Only with its first weekend gross, it has already become the 11th top-grossing film of 2021 in Japan, as with the 25th James Bond film No Time To Die.

  Meanwhile, the film ranked second on Filmarks' first day satisfaction ranking with an average rating of 4.23 based on 6,339 reviews, behind Arata Oshima-directed political documentary Kagawa Ikku.

     Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: Aoi Tsukiyo no Mahou no Ko (Sumikko Gurashi The Movie: A Magical Child of the Blue Moonlit Night), the second anime feature film inspired by Japanese stationery company San-X's popular mascot character brand, still ranked ninth in its eighth weekend, bringing its total to 1.11 billion yen (9.66 million USD) with the 900,000 ticket sales. As the fifth and last bonus item, theatergores from December 31 will receive a "New Year's card from the wizards" newly drawn by the film's art director Kaori Hino.

hello... i guess?

i’ve been busy with some stuffs too since college has started. but i’m happy since my schedule is back to normal where i can wake up in the morning and sleep peacefully in the night. i have a new hobby too--yes, making gif is my hobby now! and yup, i’m still catching up on arashi but i feel so dry since i rarely see ohmiya lol.

actually i miss ohmiya sooo much. i miss those two small dudes interacting cutely with each other ;w;

btw i saw ohmiya on newest nonno scans on friday last week. they are so adorable. it looks like an aquarium date 🥺💙💛 (big thanks to sho cuz he’s the one who decided on the theme and nonno staffs cuz ohmiya look so soft there. riida’s hair and he wore turtleneck and nino with tshirt + soft cardigan aka perfection)

what else huh? arashi and nino magazine matsuri and... ah, whenever you call! i love both song and mv. they look so fabulous and fancy. that black sparkling suits tho, and hands choreo. they look very very good (also that’s why i posted some of wyc’s gifs lol i love the mv) wyc’s 1st live performance is beyond my expectation too. i think their english pronunciation is getting better and better, so proud of arashi 🥺

btw, last week anishi is one of the best thing happened in saturday. deathmatch segment ofc, this is mj with junba, yama’s sea camp, and V6′s 25th anniversary kinenkan! i haven’t watch anishi in the past weeks but i don’t regret i decided to watch this ep. this episode is pure gold.

ah, i still don’t know what i have to do with this blog but since i posted gifs here i’ll just go with it??? hahahaha
