Top 6 Trends in Diamond Engagement Rings to Look for in 2024
Hello, fellow diamond enthusiasts! Are you ready to dive into the dazzling world of diamond engagement rings? As we step into 2024, it's time to explore the latest trends that are shaping the landscape of these timeless symbols of love and commitment.
Whether you're shopping for your own ring or just love staying ahead of the curve in jewellery trends, this blog post is for you. Let's uncover the top six trends in Diamond Engagement Rings that you'll want to keep an eye out for this year.
Sustainable Sparkle
In a world increasingly conscious of environmental impact, sustainability is taking centre stage in the jewellery industry, and diamond engagement rings are no exception. More couples are seeking ethically sourced diamonds and environmentally friendly metals for their rings.
Look for options like Lab Grown Diamonds, recycled metals, and brands committed to ethical practices. Not only do these rings sparkle with beauty, but they also shine with a clear conscience.
Unique Shapes and Cuts
Gone are the days when round brilliant diamonds ruled the roost. In 2024, expect to see a surge in popularity for unique shapes and cuts that add a distinctive flair to diamond engagement rings.
From elegant ovals and marquise cuts to trendy pear and emerald shapes, there's a cut to suit every personality and style. Dare to stand out with a ring that reflects your individuality.
Vintage Vibes
Everything old is new again, and that's especially true in the world of diamond engagement rings. Vintage-inspired designs are making a comeback, evoking the romance and elegance of bygone eras. Think intricate filigree details, milgrain borders, and Art Deco influences.
Whether you opt for an authentic vintage ring or a modern interpretation, vintage vibes are sure to add timeless charm to your engagement ring.
Stackable Styles
Why settle for just one ring when you can have a stack of stunning bands? Stackable diamond engagement rings are all the rage in 2024, allowing you to mix and match different styles to create a look that's uniquely yours.
Experiment with stacking rings of varying widths, metals, and diamond shapes to create a personalised stack that tells your love story. Whether you prefer a subtle stack or a bold statement, the possibilities are endless.
Coloured Gemstone Accents
While diamonds may be forever, that doesn't mean they have to be the only gemstone in town. Coloured gemstone accents add a pop of personality to diamond engagement rings.
Whether it's a vibrant sapphire, a romantic ruby, or a serene aquamarine, coloured gemstones are a beautiful way to infuse your ring with meaning and symbolism. Mix and match diamonds with coloured gemstones to create a truly one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Custom Creations
In a world where individuality reigns supreme, custom diamond engagement rings are gaining popularity as couples seek to create truly unique symbols of their love. From designing your ring from scratch to incorporating meaningful details and personal touches, the possibilities are endless when it comes to custom creations.
Work with a skilled jeweller to bring your vision to life and create a ring that's as special and unique as your love story.
Conclusion
2024 is shaping up to be an exciting year for diamond engagement rings, with trends ranging from sustainable sparkle to custom creations.
Whether you're drawn to vintage vibes or coloured gemstone accents, there's a trend to suit every style and preference. So go ahead, embrace the sparkle and find the ring that speaks to your heart. After all, diamonds are forever, and so is love.

24 of the world’s most unusual landscapes
(CNN) — While there are plenty of awe-inspiring man-made destinations around the globe, nothing is as creative as nature.
From trees that resemble monsters, to colorful sinkholes, towering rock formations and waterfalls of molten lava, these are some of the most unusual and fascinating landscapes in the world.
Kingley Vale, Sussex, United Kingdom
Gnarled and twisted over centuries, the yew trees of Kingley Vale could have been lifted straight from a Gothic fairy tale. Some are believed to be the oldest living things in Britain, dating back 2,000 years.
Yew tree groves were decimated in the 15th century, their wood used for longbows, making this stand of trees truly unique.
Fairy Chimneys, Turkey
Tumblr media
These unusual fairy chimney rock formations can be found in the Cappadocia region of Goreme, Turkey.
Courtney Bonnell/AP
The Fairy Chimneys of Cappadocia in central Turkey are a geological marvel.
The hard basalt columns are the result of the surrounding, softer rock eroding over thousands of years, creating towers that appear otherworldly.
What makes them truly special, however, is the cave systems and cities dug out beneath them by persecuted early Christians and used whenever invaders passed along nearby trading routes.
Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland
Tumblr media
The Giant’s Causeway became Northern Ireland’s first World Heritage Site in 1986.
Paul Faith/PA Wire/AP
On the wild north Atlantic Coast of Northern Ireland, Giant’s Causeway is the stuff of actual legend.
The story goest that it was created by the giant Finn McCool to face off against his Scottish rival Benandonner, and destroyed by the latter as he retreated home.
While the reality is a touch less fantastical, it’s no no less amazing. The pillars are the result of lava cooling and contracting over millions of years.
Sister formations can be found at Fingal’s Cave in Staffa, Scotland, all part of the same lava flow.
Moeraki Boulders, New Zealand
Tumblr media

The large, spherical Moeraki Boulders could easily be mistaken for man-made creations that have washed up on Koekohe Beach on the North Otago coast.
Local Maori legend claims they are the remnants of fishing baskets and fruits that came ashore when their Araiteuru Canoe was wrecked bringing their ancestors to New Zealand’s South Island.
In truth, these two-meter-high stones were created by mudstone hardening over five million years, before appearing as surrounding rocks were eroded.
Great Blue Hole, Belize
Tumblr media

At 300 meters wide and around 125 meters deep, the Great Blue Hole is the biggest sinkhole in the world.
Part of the Belize Barrier Reef System, the hole was formed as sea levels rose thousands of years ago, flooding its deep caves.
Made famous by renowned marine explorer Jacques Cousteau, recent submarine trips have created new 3D sonar maps, showing never-before-seen mineral formations close to the hole’s bottom.
Cano Cristales, Colombia
Tumblr media
Cano Cristales is often referred to as the “River of Five Colors.”
Kike Calvo/AP
In the brief period between Colombia’s wet and dry seasons, the waters of Cano Cristales become a riot of red, yellow and green.
This vibrant occurrence is due to Macarenia clavigera, a plant found on the riverbed.
It only turns red between September and November, which is after the fast-flowing water of the wet season abates, but before the dry season evaporates too much water for it to keep its colorful look.
Swimmers are allowed in certain sections, but can’t wear sunscreen in order to protect the fragile ecosystem.
Dead Vlei, Namibia
Tumblr media

Dead Vlei, literally dead marsh, sits among the tallest sand dunes in the world, with some as high as 400 meters.
Once abundant, the now almost barren area is home to a vast stand of dead Camel Thorn trees, dried out because of an intense change in climate 900 years ago.
The dry weather means they cannot decompose, creating a truly eerie landscape.
Chocolate Hills, Philippines
Tumblr media
The Chocolate Hills — a fascinating natural wonder.

The rolling Chocolate Hills of Bohol in the Philippines could easily be mistaken for a child’s landscape drawing.
But these 1,268 hills are very much a natural phenomenon: conical limestone peaks formed through the actions of water and erosion over thousands of years.
Their name derives from their grass covering, which turns brown during the dry season, with December to March the best time to visit. Legend has it the hills are the dried tears of a heartbroken giant. While the truth is more prosaic, the views are still spectacular.
Kilauea, Hawaii
Tumblr media
Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
U.S. Geological Survey/AP
The most active volcano on the island of Hawaii, Kilauea is in a state of near constant eruption, molten lava oozing down roads and destroying homes and holiday resorts.
Its 2018 eruption saw vents explode, rivers of lava flowing into the Pacific Ocean and sending toxic fumes into the air.
Believed to be between 210,000 and 280,000 years old , it surfaced above sea level on the southern eastern shore of the island around 100,000 years ago.
Lake Hillier, Australia
Tumblr media
Australia’s “pink lake” is 600 meters long and 250 meters wide.

Just a few meters from the sand and surf on the coast of Middle Island, in Australia’s Recherche Archipelago, Lake Hillier’s brash pink water is in stark contrast to the bright blue of the nearby ocean.
Its color is thought to be derived from algae called Dunaliella salina, which produces a pigment that turns the salty water a seemingly unnatural hue.
Halophilic bacteria in the salt crusts that surround its banks are also considered to be behind the phenomenon.
Devils Tower, Wyoming
Tumblr media
Devils Tower — the first U.S. national monument.
Mladen Antono/AFP/Getty Images
Protruding high from the prairie into the Wyoming sky, Devils Tower (the apostrophe omitted ever since it was given the name in the 19th century) is sacred to several Native American tribes.
A butte rising some 385 meters above the Belle Fourche River, it was formed by surrounding sedimentary rocks eroding, leaving the igneous rocks to stand sentinel over the area.
The Lakota believe Devils Tower rose to protect two girls from a chasing bear, the marks surrounding the tower left by its claws.
Sci-fi aficionados will recognize it as the alien rendezvous point from Steven Spielberg’s 1977 movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”
Dallol, Ethiopia
Tumblr media
The Dallol region is the hottest place on the planet.
Carl Court/Getty Images
With temperatures averaging a blistering 94 degrees Fahrenheit, Dallol is one of the most inhospitable places on Earth.
Close to the border with Eritrea, its ethereal, Martian landscape sits within the Danakil Depression.
Besides its ungodly heat, Dallol is best known for its colorful hydrothermal fields, with aquamarine green pools and yellow rocks appearing like a surrealist painting against the florid red rock formations.
The bright colors are due to inorganic iron oxidation.
The Eye of the Sahara, Mauritania
Tumblr media
The Richat Structure can be seen from space.
George Steinmetz/Corbis Documentary/Getty Images
Known also as the Richat Structure, the Eye of the Sahara looks pretty much like any other part of this continent-straddling desert from the ground. But from up in space, this 40-kilometer wide geological marvel is something else.
Believed to be an eroded dome, rather than an impact crater, it resembles a fossilized ammonite when seen from Earth’s orbit.
Snow Monsters, Mount Zao, Japan
Tumblr media
Mount Zao is home to Japan’s spectacular snow monsters.
Kyodo/AP
High in Japan’s northern Tohoku region, Mount Zao is home to this vast swathe of icy sculptures. As winter comes on hard and harsh, Siberian winds blow across the Zao range and snow falls and freezes on the mountain’s trees.
The trees then freeze into interesting forms, resembling creatures straight out of a manga comic.
Regular light shows help add to their allure after dark, although a cable car across their peaks in daylight is just as fascinating.
Valley of the Moon, Argentina
Tumblr media
This remote valley is based in a protected area of the South American country.
Insights/UIG/Getty Images
The clue’s in the name of this vast area in northern Argentina: lunar landscapes of wind blasted rock, where the night skies are illuminated by billions of stars and the moon glows.
Also known as the Ischigualasto Provincial Park, its most famous sights include The Sphinx, which resembles its Ancient Egyptian namesake.
There’s also The Mushroom, a tower that blooms out into a wide formation at its summit and the Bowling Field, where spherical rocks dot the landscape.
Vermilion Cliffs, Arizona
Tumblr media
The Vermillion Cliffs span the Utah-Arizona border.
Prisma by Dukas/UIG/Getty Images
Just south of the Utah state line, Vermilion Cliffs is one of the most visually arresting places in the United States.
The area’s swirling sandstone canyons and arches are ripe for exploration, with few visitors likely to be encountered.
The vast cliffs themselves, which run for 48 kilometers and range between 2,000 and 3,000 feet, can be seen in all their glory from Highway 89A.
Haukadalur geothermal field, Iceland
Tumblr media
The oldest account of these geothermal fields date back to 1294.
Mikel Bilbao/VW PICS/UIG/Getty Images
Iceland’s geothermic wonders make it a paradise for seekers of weird and wonderful landscapes.
Most famous for its Geysir and Strokkur erupting hot springs, this vast area, 60 kilometers east of Reykjavik, is worth taking time to explore, especially as there’s a handy campsite close by.
Mentions of the bubbling, geothermal fields here date back to 1294, when they were activated by an earthquake.
Trollkirka Caves, Norway
Tumblr media
The Trollkirka — one of Norway’s longest limestone caves.
Shutterstock
Norway’s Trollkirka Caves, literally Troll Church Caves, aren’t places of worship in the traditional sense. Instead, they’re marble and limestone marvels that intrepid visitors can enter after a strenuous hike.
The key attraction here is the 70-meter main cave, which boasts a waterfall. Smaller grottoes play home to sparkling pools, the water bright and clear against the white rock, which appears to have folded in on itself over million years.
Bryce Canyon, Utah
Tumblr media
Bryce Canyon National Park’s rocks look red, orange and white against the sky.
Ethan Miller/Getty Images
Far less popular than nearby Grand Canyon National Park, Bryce Canyon is arguably every bit as extraordinary.
It appears red, white and yellow against the bright blue sky thanks to the “hoodoos” that stand to attention for miles in every direction.
These columns, made of soft rock at the bottom and harder rock at the top, are the result of millennia of weathering and erosion. They sit within a series of huge natural amphitheaters that look spectacular at sunset.
Dead Sea, Israel
Tumblr media
The Dead Sea is positioned between Israel and Jordan.
Ahmad Abdo/AFP/Getty Images
The lowest point on Earth, the Dead Sea is more than nine times saltier than the sea.
Thought to be part of a rift zone that extends north into Turkey, it’s believed to have once been part of a lagoon connected to the Mediterranean.
Salt deposits on its bottom ensure that bathers remain buoyant, while the water’s rejuvenating properties have made it a go to for health tourists for centuries.
Spotted Lake, Canada
Tumblr media
Canada’s Spotted Lake — a remarkable sight.
Shutterstock
In the heart of British Columbia, Spotted Lake looks like your average body of freshwater during winter. But as temperatures rise and the water evaporates, it becomes something wholly different.
Huge blue, yellow and green spots appear, the result of deposits of magnesium sulphates, sodium sulphates and calcium.
The Okanagan First Nations people believed the spots to have different curative properties, they have owned the surrounding land since 2001.
Blood Falls, Antarctica
Tumblr media
This incredible natural phenomenon was discovered by Australian geologist Griffith Taylor in 1911.
Mark Ralston/AFP/Getty Images
Flowing from Alaska’s Taylor Glacier, Blood Falls’ ghoulish color is rooted in deep time.
In 2017, scientists discovered the scarlet hue is due to oxidized iron in brine saltwater, which has taken one and a half million years to get to the falls, rather than discoloration by algae as previously thought.
When the water makes contact with oxygen, it oxidizes and turns red.
A brine lake underneath the glacier, exposed to iron rich rocks, is believed to be the water’s source.
Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park, China
Tumblr media
The “Rainbow Mountains” cover an area of 322 square kilometers.
Han jiajun/Imaginechina/AP
The “Rainbow Mountains” of the Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park are striking examples of what millions of years geological activity can do to a landscape.
Made up of layers of sandstone, mudstone and multicolored sedimentary rocks laid down over millions of years, their sharp tilt is due to the movement of the tectonic plates which also formed the Himalaya.
River erosion helped form the deep gorges and high peaks, with purple, green, yellow and red strata creating a brash and bright vista.
Darvaza Gas Crater, Turkmenistan
Tumblr media
The Darvaza Gas Crater sits in the middle of the Karakum Desert.
Giles Clarke/Getty Images
Known by locals as the Door to Hell, the Darvaza Gas Crater is a natural phenomenon brought about by man less than half a century ago.
While searching for oil, Soviet engineers discovered a natural gas pocket that soon collapsed, consuming their equipment.
Panicked by the release of methane potentially killing wildlife in the surrounding Karakum Desert, scientists set the gas crater alight in the hope it would soon burn out.
Today, it still burns brightly, to a depth of 30 meters, and has become a major draw for tourists heading to this little-visited country in Central Asia.

“Tucked away in a leafy suburb in Cape Town stands a statement-making home – not only for the modern, glass-fronted architecture but more so for it’s vibrant interiors. For local design studio ARRCC, who executed the project, it was the homeowner’s affinity for colour – and a multitude of materials – that informed the creative journey. ‘By working with the homeowner’s wide and varied art collection we were able to create spaces that allow for a dynamic dialogue between the artworks and furnishings,’ says ARRCC director Mark Rielly. Photography by Greg Cox.

This is immediately apparent in the expansive, marbled entrance hall of this Jenny Mills Architecture-designed home, where the brightly coloured, geometric Emmemobili Arlequin C cabinet is complemented by a two-tone suede sofa, angular rug and organically shaped side table. The scene sets a welcome sense of repose that carries through to the rest of the home. ‘Materiality is just as much a feature in this area,’ says ARRCC designer Quintin Gilman, pointing to the architect’s vision for the staircase leading down to the basement level. ‘Crema Marfil marble, glass balustrades with brass cladding, and dark-stained timber all create unique textures in this stairwell,’ he says. On the staircase wall, laser-cut, coated-steel cladding was added and then back-lit for dramatic effect. Colour is the focus in the informal lounge, where a marine-blue rug grounds the layout, while teal cushions and green ceramic side tables by Paola Navone for Baxter continuing the aquamarine theme. Chevronpatterned Missoni fabric in sorbet hues covers two ottomans, breaking the blocks of colour and adding a touch of playfulness to this family room and, upping the ante even further, a custom-designed DJ booth in dark and light grey tones means music is always part of the living experience. Around the fireplace, the Gloob armchair and Lean on Me standing lamp by designer Adam Court of bespoke furniture studio OKHA adds to the juxtaposition of forms, their whiteness tossing an element of cool crispness into the friendly interior. Colourful balloon-like glass vases from OKHA’s curated accessories collection further embrace the elegant play of colourful form.”

The holidays season is nearing, and everything in town dressed up with baubles and fairy lights. You may want some glitters for you, don’t you? Jolie Beauty has listened to your seasonal wishes with its Bomb Dot Com 24 shade glitter palette

Tumblr media
You can recreate that jolly atmosphere with your makeup looks and the help of this explosive glitter palette by Jolie Beauty.
Tumblr media
Jolie Beauty Bomb Dot Com 24 shade glitter palette: product & package
It’s a real glitter bomb! Jolie Beauty Bomb Dot Com is a makeup palette with 24 pressed glitters safe to use on both eyes and face. This palette is featherlight and comes with a matching protective sleeve. Its package runs over you with a light beam: the whole palette is rose gold and a finelly glittery to the touch, inside and out. It has a magnetic closure and a large mirror inside.
Tumblr media
Texture and formula As all Jolie Beauty products, the Bomb Dot Com palette is cruelty-free and vegan. These cosmetic-graded glitters are pressed into singular pans in a clear base. In some shades, this base feels pleasantly cooling and with a jelly texture. The clear base eases the application and minimises the use of glue, other adhesives or creamy products, even though I highly suggest them (see how to use). Of the 24 shades, 23 are made of micro shimmery particles, that an optical illusion makes them look varying in dimensions (see chart). Sugar is the only shade in this palette with a crystal-like texture due to its chunkier glitters.
Tumblr media
How to use: It may sound straightforward, but these glitters need some instruction: apply the glitters with a synthetic flat brush, preferably with a stiff texture, and tap them over your lids or skin until you get the desired intensity and coverage. The colours can be overlayed; put on the top of a coloured cream base or dabbed with eyeshadows and pigments to intensify the colours and effect. When it comes to glitters or very dark eyeshadows, it’s always better to start from the prep and eyes first. Once the eyes are ready and sparkly in glory, remove any fallouts with a face wipe and continue with your base.
Tumblr media
Glitter removal: carefree as a sip of bubbles. Cheers!
Tumblr media

and how to remove: These glitters can be removes swiftly with any makeup remover wipes. If any glitter falls later on, when the face is ready, some washi tape comes in handy. I recommend this Japanese decorative tape because it’s sticky but gentle. I also suggest attaching the washi tape to the back of your hand to dampen its stickiness as a good practice.
Tumblr media
COLOUR CHART

too much for a single Valens-style post! Here’s an easy chart to define every and each shade.

In short, this palette has many bright colours mainly in the blue and red spectrum but lacks dark shades, except for Cocoa, a very intense brown. These glitters have a crazy metallic finish and, interestingly, a portion of this palette has a ‘watershine’ effect, an iridescent and holo shine. Some shades, like Disco, Golden Tickets and to some extent Just Jolie, can be dabbed until creating a metallic foil effect like a pigment. This ‘trompe l’oeil’ (a French, hence chic, way to say ‘optic illusion’) is due to the glitters being heavily packed in their clear base. Most of the glitters, instead, look sparse and need more layers.
Tumblr media
PROS:
it’s vegan and cruelty-free;
(23 out of 24) the glitters have a fine in texture;
(23 out of 24) the glitters are very gentle to the skin;
very shiny;
easy to remove;
relatively easy to work with;
have a buildable coverage;
have different finishes;
the package is sturdy yet light;
includes a large mirror.
CONS:
a sticky base is always needed;
one shade is grittier and harder to use;
(lack of dark shades).

#3 & #4 ROW
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If I could describe this palette with an image, I could say it’s a loud and instant party! The ace in the hole: when you need something spectacular and shocking, this palette has it. The Bomb Dot Com palette comprises 24 shades for a total of 19.2 grams at a regular price of £27.99 online at JolieBeauty.com (now at £20.99 for the extended Cyber Monday and payable with Klarna small payments).
Tumblr media
I played around with this palette because it’s made for that! I created two sparkly looks for the holidays I want to share with you. Nice or naughty, how are you going to be these holidays?
When I think of glitters, Christmas tinsels come to my mind. For how much it may sound typical, I still like and wear glittery eyeliners. I made this daytime ‘nice look’ with an organic white kajal (L’Avril Blanc Lunaire) as a base where to stick three glitter shades from this bombastic palette: Rosy, Regal and Amazon. At the bottom of the lower lash line and right at its centre, I dotted Firefly with a pinch of Just Jolie to add an unexpected drop of light in this simple look.
Tumblr media
A paired this with fuller and bright lips: Lord&Berry Ultimate Lip Liner in Vintage Rose with a touch of MCo. Beauty Peachy Gloss.
Tumblr media

(waterline) Lips: Lord&Berry Ultimate Liner in Vintage Rose + MCo Beauty Peachy Gloss (centre)
If this is for the day, what would be my night holiday? Get naught(ier) with this glittery crease. The neutral eye base created with MannaKadar Beauty Goddess makeup palette has been spiced up with a reddish glitter liner (Cherrybomb) to which a sharp crease connects (Cocoa).
Tumblr media
To keep these shades in place, I used the same white kajal as a guideline and base for winged eye and an e.l.f. brow pomade from an eyebrow kit to fill in the crease. I created a light point in the inner corner with Disco, and layered the glitters several times and topped with coordinated eyeshadow palettes (from MannaKadar Beauty Goddess palette and Forgive Me Suzie x Birchbox red/gold/copper eyeshadow palette). With such dramatic eyes, I dressed my lips with a caramel gloss by Neve Cosmetics (Venissage in Dama con l’ermellino).

Nice or naughty is such a subtle difference, a thin line of glitters

It’s all about eyes but my face has something interesting: for the day makeup, I used Jolie Beauty Second Skin Powder Bronzer and Blusher Latte+Rendezvous. The night look includes the combo Latte+Flushed. There’s more! This review wants to be a preview of the new launches from the Second Skin Collection: the highlighter Dreaming for the day look and Saintly for the night. Trust me, these newest highlighters are as light as the Second Skin compacts (complete review) but with an ethereal glow.
Tumblr media
‘Ethereal glow’: Jolie Beauty Second Skin Powder Highlighter in ‘Saintly‘
These glitters lasted for more than 8 hours before I could see the first fallouts, but the glitters placed closer to the crease tended to move earlier. Although a glitter glue isn’t a strict necessity, it would be very welcome, especially in case of long and lively events as New Year’s Eve. Nevertheless, with minimal expense and effort, I made both looks last longer than expected.
Tumblr media
A last look inside

Of course, an extended glitter palette like the Bomb Dot Com isn’t for everyone and doesn’t fall into the essential makeup list, but it’s ideal for artists and playful people. I had fun and magic all over my carpet these weeks, and I will play more often with it. Even if it isn’t an essential item, this palette offers great quality and an incredible gentle touch to the skin. I simply wished for more dark hues
Holidays season is coming, and this Jolie Beauty palette is like fairy light for your eyes only!

This city was nicknamed The Magic City as it saw rapid growth from 1,000 residents to approximately 5.5 million dwellers in 110 years.
The sun-kissed shores along with art-deco beauties make for a mesmerising backdrop and perfect cruising destination. Miami offers the best sailing time during winters; however, summer is ideal for different water sports. Therefore, don’t miss out on this bravura of an island which was once a mangrove swamp, and now, receives 15 million tourists every year.
Choose an ideal Miami yacht charter to explore this extravaganza.
Here are some vessel types you can easily select:
Catamarans: Crewed & Bareboat
Known as divers’ paradise, opting for Miami yacht rentals is the best option to swim and enthral in the exquisiteness of Miami waters. Sailing on that sleek catamaran and exploring the dainty beaches are something you are going to cherish your whole life!
Glide through and discover the extraordinary beauty of Miami and its surroundings like Biscayne Bay in crewed catamarans that come with undreamt-of luxury. While the sous-chefs serve you with mouth-watering delicacies and local specialities, the rest of the crew ensures you witness the marvels and unscathed marine fauna and flora of this Cuban island effortlessly. However, one with the desire to cruise alone to the unknown territories can hire bareboat catamarans and explore all the white sand beaches on self-jurisdiction.
Motor Yachts: Crewed
While you are sailing in Miami – make your journey aboard carefree and amusing! Crew members of motor yachts are incredibly professional, experienced, and trained. You do not need to concern yourself while cruising along the coastlines of South Beach, Ocean Drive, etc.
Port of Miami has been the ‘Cruise Capital of the World’ for the last two decades. It houses the largest cruising ships and is honoured as one of the busiest cruise lines. So, you can envisage the magnum opus that Miami holds!
Sailboat: Skippered & Bareboat
Few cities are there in the world, which are as sanctified as Miami concerning nature’s exquisite beauty. Aquamarine waters and sparkling shores along with an extravagant array of escapades, the peaceful stretches of Miami and scenic paddles of Virginia Key are a sight to behold. Sailing in Miami becomes a more enticing experience with a skippered sailboat for the journey. You don’t have to worry about your travel time or huge expense that catamarans entail. Your captain can socialise with you better on sailboats as it is quieter and can control his/her boat from its stern.
However, you can also opt for a bareboat sailboat if you desire to unravel the unknown/known splendour of this Cuban turquoise water on your own.

Driftaway Cafe-Sandfly Georgia
While visiting or passing through Savannah, there is a great little historic community called Sandfly with a few great local restaurants. This week I had a craving for fresh fish so the Driftaway Cafe was the place on my radar.
The cafe is open for lunch and dinner, features a bar, indoor or porch seating, tunes to keep you humming, and great service.  We ordered fish (grouper) taco’s,  and an oyster sandwich with fries.

53 years ago, in 1967, the brand established in Le Locle introduced a revolutionary diver’s watch, the first ever to look past black or white and go for colour – with an orange dial that was much easier to read and more practical in the darkness of the deep. A legend was born – DOXA SUB 300.
Bright days ahead: DOXA’s new model – the stainless steel SUB 300 COSC – comes in 6 colours.
With shorts and short sleeves or a full-body wetsuit, it’s full colour all the way: The dial is not the only thing to come in different colours; the brand is also introducing matching rubber straps – a DOXA Watches first.
6 colours, 12 versions – turquoise, yellow, navy, silver, black, and of course the famous “DOXA Professional Orange” of the first SUB 300 that came out in 1967.
Prestigious official credentials: COSC Certified Chronometer.
A robust and reliable diver, rated to a depth of 300 meters (30 BAR, about 984 feet)
An ultra-competitive price/performance ratio for a superlative array of quality features: CHF 2’490.00 for the version with the stainless steel “rice bead” bracelet.
See Now, Buy now: Available starting today on the brand’s new website that offers an uncannily immersive experience into the World of DOXA.
DOXA Watches celebrates a renewal in living colours.
DOXA SUB 300
In 1967, DOXA launched the revolutionary SUB concept, considered to be the first truly purpose-designed diver’s watch for a broad audience. The radical innovations it introduced at the time quickly made it the benchmark for professionals, too. Rated to a depth of 300 meters (30 ATM), it was the first of its kind to feature a unidirectional bezel with dual markings for dive times and depths for calculating and monitoring no-decompression dives.
At the time, the US Navy no-decompression dive table was the be-all and end-all, enabling divers to first determine and then monitor the time they could remain at a predetermined depth and still ensure a safe return to the surface – without having to make a decompression stop on the way back up. DOXA engineers took the US Navy’s calculations and incorporated them into two separate scales on the bezel, one orange for the outer “depth” ring and the other black for the inner “time” ring – a DOXA patent.
The first to feature a bright orange dial, in daring contrast to the conventional black or white diver’s watches of the day, the instantly recognizable SUB 300 soon became a legend in its own time.
“Orangemania” takes hold!
Starting 1968, the SUB 300 became easy to spot on the wrists of divers jumping from the deck of the Calypso every week to take millions of TV viewers on the thrilling missions of “The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau” Team Undersea Odyssey”. Already a living legend back then, Commander Jacques-Yves Cousteau – co-inventor of the Aqua Lung underwater breathing apparatus and spiritual father of modern scuba diving – was so fond of the SUB 300 that he secured exclusive distribution rights in the United States for his company, US Divers.
From 2015, the DOXA SUB 300 is available as a limited edition in only three dial colours with orange, black and silver.
Summer 2020: With flying colours!
Orange Professional,
Silver Searambler,
Black Sharkhunter,
Navy Caribbean,
Yellow Divingstar, and
Turquoise Aquamarine.
For the brand’s 130th Anniversary, DOXA Watches is launching the DOXA SUB 300 in 6 colours and 12 versions, all vibrant, bright, full of summer zest and ready for adventure. Not to forget the iconic “beads of rice” bracelet, also made of stainless steel.
The legend lives on

More than ever true to its colours and in tune with the times

DOXA Watches introduces rubber straps in colours for a tone-on-tone match with the dials, a first for its collections and a sporty alternative to the steel bracelet. Made from soft and supple rubber, these new straps come with the DOXA hallmarks on both sides and provide an amazingly comfortable fit.
Resistant to wear and tear and purpose-designed, the strap features a folding clasp with the “DOXA fish” symbol and comes with a diver’s extension for quick and fiddle-free adjustment over a wetsuit.
Thus, the 2020 edition of the SUB 300 remains true to its roots while embracing the times in which it lives. The rubber strap exudes not just a sportier but also a more urban vibe: an evolution that takes this watch concept into the future, with a high-performance material at the service of functionality.
DOXA has always taken great care in improving its diver’s watches, in particular the most emblematic of all, the SUB 300. It is and always will be ranked among the very few diver’s watches to have made a mark on Swiss watchmaking history.
Prestigious official credentials: COSC Certified Chronometer.ÂŽ
Precision, robustness, reliability: All the self-winding mechanical movements that power the SUB 300 undergo the rigorous certification process of the hallowed COSC (“Contrîle Officiel Suisse des Chronomùtres”), which guarantees the timepiece’s chronometric performance and scrupulous compliance with the highest standards in terms of precision, reliability, shock resistance, automatic winding and ease of maintenance.
This SUB 300 retains all of the hallmark technical features that created the legend.
The DOXA SUB 300 has a diameter of 42.5 mm and is water-resistant to a depth of 300 meters for maximum freedom of undersea exploration.
Its scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating, echoes the domed plexiglass of the first SUB generations. The COSC-certified automatic movement ensures a power reserve of 38 hours.
All dive-related markings have a Super-LumiNovaÂź luminescent coating to ensure optimum readability during dives under low visibility conditions. The indices are clearly visible, as is the dual indication of dive time in minutes and depth in feet on the patented unidirectional rotating bezel for calculating and monitoring no-decompression dive times.
The inserts of the diving scale through the inner ring of the bezel are black, with a dot at 12 o’clock. The depth indications in meters on the outer bezel ring are in color – either orange, yellow or blue – for visual differentiation, with a Super-LumiNova¼ dot at 12 o’clock.

The complete collection is available starting today on www.doxawatches.com

My love for fountain pens and inks fully bloomed earlier this year when I finally ‘got the hang of it’ since I’ve gotten my first fountain pen last year in 2016. If you are a fountain pen lover, at some point, you were probably going through the same ‘dilemma’ of how to keep track of all your ink samples/bottles. There are SO many colours available on the market, it can be difficult to pick your favourite shade and getting sample vials first before buying the entire bottle is a lot more efficient 😉
But you can easily end up with 30+ ink samples and lose track of what you actually have. Here is how I used to keep track of my ink samples:
#gallery-0-19 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-19 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-19 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-19 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Clairfontaine paper
Ink vials storage box
The paper you can see above in the pictures is from Rhodia Dotpad – Clairfontaine paper is the best quality paper I have ever used and highly recommend to fountain pen users because it does not feather the ink. And I store all of the ink vials in this little box from a local shop.
What you need to make a mini ink log book:
index cards (you can get thicker sheets and cut them to your preferable size)
thicker piece of card for front & back cover
1.5″ book rings
glass/dip/fountain pen
ink samples
a glass of water
microfibre cloth
hole puncher
cotton ear buds
  How to make it?
It’s very simple actually 🙂
Make sure you adjust your hole puncher properly so every hole you make in your index card is exactly at the same spot – you want your index cards to match. Adding cover sheets on top & bottom is completely up to you and you can use any kind of paper you like – the possibilities here are endless! You could even use a piece of wood or metal if you have it on hand. I find 1.5″ book rings the perfect size, but this is also a personal choice and you might like something a little smaller. Just make sure it will hold all your index cards!
As I have mentioned many times before, I love getting my writing supplies from The Writing Desk so every ink you can see in the pictures, most of the fountain pens and of course, the latest addition, Rohrer and Klingner glass pen, are purchased from there. Having a glass pen is fantastic because it can be very easily washed and used again and again in seconds, and you don’t have to wait for it to dry 🙂 I LOVE this thing!! It made creating this ink book A LOT easier and faster! What is my most favourite ink? Pelikan Edelstein Aquamarine – I love this shade, so beautiful!
Once you have your cards ready, it’s time to start opening your ink bottles and sample vials! That is THE best part, hehe. Be ready to get your fingers dirty and if you do want to prevent that, you can use a pair of gloves – good tip before you start, right?
There is no right or wrong on how to create your cards, where to write what, or how much ink to apply in one spot, if any
This ink book is a visual guide for YOU, create it the way you feel like you will like it and enjoy browsing through.
I recommend writing down what brand your ink is and the name of its particular shade. You can include if it is a special edition, a date you opened the bottle, price, where you got it from etc.
TIP — do not use a painting brush, it is close to impossible to wash the ink off the bristles. Save yourself some time and money, and rather use cotton ear buds instead to spread the ink 😉
#gallery-0-20 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-20 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-20 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-20 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Wait until every card is completely dry, place them in colour order that you like, and get them all on your book ring! Don’t forget the front & back cover and voila! All done!! Isn’t it pretty?
#gallery-0-21 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-21 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-21 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-21 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

Davosa is the Swiss watch brand you don’t pronounce with confidence. After some time on the wrist, I have some confidence in the value proposition of the brand’s Ternos Black 40 Automatic Diver with a 200m water resistance rating. It’s a Submariner homage with a sub $1000 price tag, and you may want to give it a look.
Davosa has ancestral roots in the Swiss watch making world, and its Web site chronicles the family lineage like my dad describes my family tree. Here are  a some names and photos, and here you are. At some point in the watchmaking family tree, the Davosa name appears as do decades of watch models.
Watch-wearing geeks strive to have a watch for any event. The Ternos offers the utilitarian simplicity of a dive watch with the bang-it-up or dress-it-up potential. Get past the philosophical discussion around homage watches for now. Davosa has those. There’s a GMT Batman that Patrick reviewed earlier here. You might even find a Tudor Ranger looking watch too.
For me, this watch sparked the initial ohhh and ahhh out of the box. It was its weight that I noticed first. It is noticeably heavier than my vintage chronograph. The dial design was immediately relatable as it recalls its Rolex Submariner inspiration. This model has the date window and the cyclops magnifier, and so I didn’t notice the subtle off-white luminescence on the dial at first.
The case is the perfect dimension for my 7.5” wrist at 40mm wide without the crown. But remember, it’s not just the width of the case that influences how it feels on your wrist. This watch was a perfect fit with a 48mm lug-to-lug length. It’s a modest 12.5mm high and fits nicely under a shirt sleeve, if you’re into shirts. The case back is solid with a Davosa’s logo on the back, which is also on the dial under 12 o’clock. The back is nothing to look at but it does indicate the movement number. The case back does protrude out from the edge of the midsection of the case when you look at its profile and it has a respectable 200 meter water resistance. Overall the case is finely machined, smooth and rides easily on the wrist.
The crown guard offers the protection you’d expect as it provides shoulders for the signed, stainless steel, screw-down crown. This is added assurance on its water resistance and doesn’t get in the way as you unscrew it to set. It glides easily into date-changing mode and then out a second click to the time setting mode.
The unidirectional bezel has the solid 120 clicks we expect with just a little play in it as you aim the pip on the minute hand. The bezel is not exceptionally easy to grip and turn but I have sausage-fingers not surgical instruments on the end of my hands. You may have better luck. The black bezel is a good width and starting at the triangle pip at 12, it has the 15 minute marks for decompression countdown. This is also perfect for measuring my maximum attention span. The only luminescence on the bezel is the dot of Super-LumiNova on the triangle.
The most striking feature on this dial is the cyclops magnification over the date. It is a functional addition to the smaller dial size, but it might demand too much attention on the crystal for some people. Ternos has other models including those a 40mm without date and 42mm with date and no magnification. If you like a date on your smaller diver, then you will need to learn to like the cyclops.
The dial is flat black and the Davosa name at 12 o’clock stand out in size but not in contrast or color. In fact, this surprised me, as it is often hard to read. Maybe that’s intentional. The three lines of copy at 6 o’clock offer just the essential information on model, depth and movement to help the casual watch geek get the facts. The hands and applied indices are lined in a gold and mix well with the Super-LumiNova to create a hint of vintage, aged color.
The hour and minute hands are typical, but the minute hand is not as long as I’d prefer since it doesn’t reach the minute track at the edge of the dial. If you like the hacking feature to synchronize your watch to your iPhone, then you may find yourself adding light to the dial so you can find the exact minute mark.
The lume is bright and typical and the second hand is easy to follow. The lume on the pip doesn’t want to last as long as the indices, but that might be because of its smaller size.
The hacking and hand-winding movement is an automatic DAV2824, which is their version of the tried and true ETA 2824 movement. The sweeping second hand and date function are all typical. Some might say the date is an unnecessary addition to the die-hard diver watch, but don’t worry about that. Ternos has those two, case sizes without out dates or cyclops.
The watch and bracelet weigh 176 grams compared to the ubiquitous Seiko SKX at 143 grams. It’s also a typical 20mm wide bracelet and tapers to 18 mm at the clasp. It has a brushed finish on the top of the bracelet and polished sides. It is smooth and has precise case integration at the lugs.
There are other dive watches that compete in this price space including Hager Aquamariner, Steinhart Ocean One Vintage Red, Christopher Ward’s C60 Trident Pro. These are all comparable to Davosa’s Ternos Black 40 Automatic, but the Ternos is a solid Swiss contender with US distribution, two-year warranty and free shipping. It offers a practical design with a mechanical, tried-and-true movement with a sapphire crystal. It’s a desk diver’s dream at a respectable $769. See it here.
Watch Overview
Brand & Model: Davosa Ternos Black 40 Automatic 200m Diver
Price: $769
Who we think it might be for: This is for the person who wants the features and look of a dive watch legend without the price.
Would I buy one for myself based on what I’ve seen?: You bet!
If I could make one design suggestion, it would be: I would rethink the date window on the black dial and make the bezel easier to grip.
What spoke to me the most about this watch: The classic design and simplicity spoke to me the most. Well, it didn’t really talk. It made me think about those two things.
