my favorite self-aggrandizing probably easy to counter thingie that I picked up in adolescence is that St Paul is the last Eastern city and Minneapolis the first Western city, and that this is visible in their built environment

#apropos of someone placing the dividing line on NOT the Mississippi (obviously wrong of them)#the argument goes that Minneapolis is generally speaking made up of broad streets open to the sky #and St Paul far narrower #I spent vastly more time in Minneapolis so cannot actually be trusted to vet this claim but I like it #it's basically untrue except right in St Paul's capital area I suspect #and I suspect that looks 'older' for basically fake reasons much more related to being the capital city
