using grids helped A TON, block out big shapes first, lots of careful planning, and patience!

What would you recommend studying before going into an art college? (Btw if you dropped an artbook....queen.... I would buy it in a heartbeat!!!!)

my biggest piece of advice is to study foundations! 

im not sure what youre thinking of majoring in, but learning foundations will give you a wider breadth to expand your style/ability if that makes sense?? one of my art profs told me to “learn the rules first to break them correctly**.”

**though there are some exceptions and extent that this applies to, but this is something i often apply to my artmaking 

i know studying foundations might seem boring and uninteresting, but having that under your belt will definitely help you in the long run!

HI!! thank you so much i'm really happy to hear that (  ᵒ̴̶̷̥́ _ᵒ̴̶̷̣̥̀  )!! i dont have any kh artworks planned for now bc i have to finish other projects/portfolio stuff. otherwise i mostly have backlogged kh doodles and zine stuff that havent dropped yet!

have you ever tried drawing on ipad? do you have any experience with procreate? :0

i dont have an ipad TT but i do draw on a pen display so maybe thats somewhat on the same level?? XD!! i never used procreate before unfortunately, but im really loving the brushes i see friends use on it ^^!!!

Hello!! I’m currently a senior getting ready to go to college, and I’ve always looked forward to going to art school. I’ve been interested in MCAD and was actually accepted! But, I wanted to ask you, since I saw in your bio, how are the animation courses at MCAD? Do you think it’s a good school for animation. I absolutely adore your work and thank you if you can reply!!

hello! thank you AND THATS SO EXCITING!! congratulations ^^! 

i recently graduated this semester and it was a wonderful journey ^^! id say for most art school experiences, you kind of get out what you put in and this applies to mcad too! personally id say the animation courses were pretty good! a lot of the content in the course is pretty foundational, so when i really wanted to learn something specific, i kind of had to do my own research and problem solving sometimes to get there. 

however, one disclaimer id like to add is that this is all contingent on the fact that i was on campus pre-pandemic when i took most of my core animation classes. i cant say the same about this now that classes are remote. if theres any chance to be back on campus (safely), id recommend taking classes but as of right now, im not so sure and may even suggest holding off on it.

i really recommend courses with Kristin Solid or Chris Gruzka if you happen to go to MCAD! theyre my favorite professors teaching in the major and really encouraged and helped me improve during my time there!

hii april!! i saw a while back that u said u were working on ur own artbook ^^ i was wondering if u r going to publish it or did u drop that project?? bc mAN let me tell u that i would buy 100 of those

WAAAH i didnt think there would be much interest for it so i kind of put it on the back burner while i was working on other projects (  ᵒ̴̶̷̥́ _ᵒ̴̶̷̣̥̀  )... maybe i might make it a goal to have a book ready for print by the end of 2021? (´༎ຶོρ༎ຶོ`)!?!?
