What advice would you give beginner artists?
it's fine to want to do more stylized art, but nothing will help you improve quickly like studying from life. even if you want to draw very stylized figures, life drawing is still going to help you understand how the human body works and then you can build your stylization off of that understanding. I also recommend studying specifically things you're looking to improve--if you feel like your poses aren't dynamic, ask your model to do some quick (1-2 min) dynamic poses and work on getting the gesture down. if you're looking for anatomy, ask for longer, more static poses and really study the contours of the body. this also applies for portraiture and character art--my expressions and facial structure improved like CRAZY when i started doing portrait studies from life! (note: i know live model sessions aren't accessible for everyone. i'm a huge advocate for nude models, if you can find a studio nearby that's affordable to you that offers sessions, that's the best you're gonna get. however, there are sites that will give you photos of nude models to draw from, too, or you can even just ask friends or family to pose for you when they aren't busy, that's what i did before i started getting model sessions from my school!)
materials are not everything but sometimes a good material can make a difference. it's important to know what's worth it and what isn't for your skill level. invest in some decent-quality supplies or a good art program, but understand that you're still going to need to work to understand your materials and use them to their fullest potential. (if you're a digital artist buy csp. trust me on this. get it on sale. it will change your life. also do not fucking use photoshop)
tracing is ok. listen to me. TRACING. IS. OK. tracing is how you learn. don't trace other people's art and pass it off as your own, obviously, but there is literally no problem with tracing real-life reference photos. I routinely trace references for backgrounds and the like. there is no reason for you to kill yourself trying to make complex perspective and shit up from your head when you can very easily just overlay a photo and get what you need.
in that same vein, USE REFERENCE PHOTOS. find pics online or take pics of yourself and USE THEM to see how your poses work. it makes it SO SO SO much easier. the understanding that you need to create a pose out of nowhere will come with time but you're not going to get that skill unless you have a foundation of understanding how the real human body works, and the easiest way to get that understanding is by copying photos of real people.
last but not least, there's generally a sort of 'rulebook' that new artists are expected to go by, especially online, when it comes to digital art. when i was first learning, it was all about lineart and cell shading, two things that I didn't really like. Nowadays it seems to be all about rendering. the single most important thing i can tell you is if it sucks you don't have to do it. if you hate lineart just color your sketches. if you hate shading don't shade, or find a different way to shade that you enjoy more. if rendering is annoying or difficult for you DON'T BOTHER!! art is supposed to be fun. if part of your process is annoying or upsetting to you, cut it the fuck out. don't torture yourself just to do art the "right" way. i guarantee your art will look better when you're having fun making it anyway!

hello!
wanted to let you know your art has inspired me to draw again after art school made me feel like I shouldn't make art unless it's perfect. I feel like I got a piece of my soul back!
can you tell me about your process (program, brushes, fav techniques, etc), or point me in the direction of where this information already exists?
thank you my friend
- drawing dreamer in Detroit
This feels kinda formally written and I have to be honest that idk if a real person is behind this (if that makes sense), but I'll answer this just normally here :')))
Great to hear!! To think my art has that effect on you is really nice ❤ And I sort of have been there as well! I was quite a perfectionist and stiff with my art before - art pieces could take weeks for me. But I spare you my lengthy story about that lol
Anyway, I use CSP as drawing software! My go-to brush/pencil for sketching is called DAUB fine pencil normal (downloaded online, only available for CSP I think?). For colouring I use the standard (which comes with the software) Gouache brushes.
As for advice uhh it helps a lot to learn a bit of everything?? In my case, it helped a lot to watch videos and apply it in practice. My personal fave is Saito Naoki correction videos as it tackles different subjects each time. I watch those either before drawing or when I'm having lunch haha
A bit of everything includes: composition/negative space, posing, anatomy, lighting/shading, warm and cold colours, colour relativity/theory, and even more. This is quite a lot now that I'm typing it out 💀. This can be quite overwhelming but I suggest to tackle things one at a time! And while doing some specific studies can help a lot, I recommend to just draw what you want and think "this time I'll try to focus more on anatomy"

(traductor bc i'm Bad in English)
I love how you draw and until recently I realized that your drawings are almost all traditional (🤯) I wanted to ask, what kind of light/Filters do you use to take your photos and make them look so clear?
(And if by some chance I got confused and you do everything digital, it's a wow for my little brain)
No worries! Thank you for taking the time to submit your question~
I’ve done primarily digital art in the past (it always started with pencil on paper, but I later traced over it in Photoshop or CSP) but all of my Cult of the Lamb art has been traditional with some digital edits.
You asking about this got me thinking on how to put together a full run-down of how I do my art, but since I’m away from home (my scanner, computer, etc.) I’ll just give a short(ish) answer for now:
- Starting off, I try to keep my lines as clean as possible, and a kneadable eraser really helps with this since you can pinch the ends to a point to clean up in smaller areas and rub it over your sketch lines without completely erasing them or leaving behind marks or residue (I definitely recommend the Faber-Castell brand because they’re the most pliable ones I’ve used, last a long time so long as you keep them clean, and are widely available in arts & crafts stores as well as online)
- Obviously adjust these to your preferences, but when taking pictures of art on my phone (what I’ve been doing the last week or so) I reduce the Saturation to 0 to make it completely grayscale, up the Brightness (brightening the white of the paper), as well as raise the Black Point (darkening the pencil lines) ((also these are how those settings are named for iPhone, so it might vary between devices))
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- When working with digital art software, the Levels tool is going to be the version of the Brightness & Black Point adjustments mentioned for mobile pictures; definitely have the Preview option applied, if available, so you can see the changes you’re making before accepting them (of course you can always Undo said change if you don’t like it).
Overall, though, the more work you put in when working on paper, the less adjustments and edits you’ll have to do later, so don’t skip on cleaning up lines, stray dots, graphite scratches, etc.
Anyway, I’m gonna’ leave things there, but I hope this helps for now! Happy drawing~! ✏️✨

what brushes do u use? sorry if u already answered this!
HELLO! no, you're first to ask that! ill make a big post with everything i use to make art, but for now i can indeed share some of my brushes! 1. MY MAIN BRUSH MY ABSOLUTE FAV i made myself on clip studio, combining other brushes! i cannot, sadly, upload it in csp asset store, as it was made from other people's brushes and it's not allowed there, but i can share it here! i usually use it at 3px as i don't really like it when it's big and i draw on pretty small canvases link to google drive
Tumblr media
2. SU-Cream pencil. second main brush, i use it for flat colours and flat shading sometimes! clip studio assets content id: 1761353
Tumblr media
3. PIXELS !!! use them for my second artstyle, i never actually posted anything in it soo.. have an example!! clip studio assets content id: 2079999
Tumblr media
4. For the pixel art style colouring i use basic csp gouache brush! you can find it under brush > think paint then i apply the artistic filter with these settings to the colouring layer! so it looks a little more pixelated ^_^
Tumblr media Tumblr media
that's pretty much all i use! thanks for your question, i love sharing my process online <3

‘Twas both 👁👁, but yeah honestly I’m very interested cause damn- (sorry if I seem awkward I’m not good with online interaction 😭😭 LMAO)
NAH no worries you're doing fine!!
It's a pretty wide array of topics but touching the surface of it, I'll go into my art process.
Here's a short thread where I went into this similarly!
I pretty much follow the steps of what I mentioned there, but it varies a little bit based on the style I go for too: painting whole illustrations or design or more simple fun things.
I could describe what I did in each frame of my process gifs which I've posted before but I would need some time. With big pieces, the steps I go by (read slowly, it's a pretty dense text):
thumbnailing -> sketching with bigger shapes to get the line of action/feel (that is, I'm just blocking out the composition) -> refine that a bit -> hide BG, draw the characters (lineart) and add the base colors of them. (then merge & rasterize a copy of it for later) -> put them back in the environment (unhide BG), make them grey -> add shading in greyscale style (multiply layers, glow dodge layers, you name it) -> get that previous rasterized layer back and put it on color mode -> those characteristic shiny parts get a new layer with overly saturated + high brightness colors -> color BG with a new color layer -> then rendering/refining for concerning amounts of time -> add effects and change color/brightness/contrast curves + gradient map -> profit???
For software, I generally use Paint Tool SAI (I adore blending/painting here), I use Clip Studio Paint for the 3D posing library/sketching/lineart, and Photoshop for final effects. (Update: I mostly do all things in CSP now)
(if you have CSP, try out this brush... it saved my life)
As for improvement:
I experiment, watch a lot of youtube videos (I personally like the ones which analyse an artist). I suggest thoroughly understanding how something moves and works (for anatomy I can recommend the book 'Anatomy for Sculptors'), I also study and jot down important pieces of advice or insights to a collective document, rather than saving them to my device where it is highly likely to be forgotten.
I believe if you put great importance on colors and composition, that can cause the most noticeable, 'fastest' improvement, at least if you view it from the lens of social media. (While online environments provide significant reassurance, it must be engaged with in moderation, as it is easy to fall into a lot of negative mindsets, taking the enjoyment out by perfectionism, comparison, or seeking validation, etc.)
Another improvement technique you can try is to slow down a speedpaint video of your choice and follow along with the artist. Extremely useful, I recommend, put your artist under a microscope.
Of course I don't do all of these things every single waking hour, it's just a side hobby to my unrelated studies in real life. Even if you don't actively draw your visual library and knowledge can improve passively, I find that so fascinating. I don't touch a paper for months and there's a sudden jump, like damn what. (Not saying you should do this, active learning is still better ofc) Either way my point with that is, that improving does and did take a lot of time for me as well.
Apologies if this goes all over the place, I tried to touch upon every subject that came to mind at the moment, in not too much in detail, overall I hope it makes sense
If you have any specific questions related, feel free to ask! Or if there's any specific problem you'd like to tackle but find yourself lost, same applies!

I never do New Years resolutions & it's already a week into 2025, however, my plans for the year are this:
Firstly, a short story a day. There's a particular Type of short story I wrote all the time in highschool that could be anywhere between 200-1000 words & it helps to get words down on paper. I've wanted to do this for like, 2-3 years in a row, and kept forgetting to do it. I'm doing well with it this year, though.
Start drawing again. I haven't been drawing so much lately bc the laptop I have with CSP on it has a bad battery and has to stay perpetually plugged in or I'll lose my work....but I'm gonna start using it again.
Stay off Ai chatbot sites. They're bad for the attention span, and kind of addictive. Unhealthy. Damage my creativity. And Im kinda hopping on the anti-ai bandwagon anyway. I don't mind AI in the slightest as a tool for artists, or as a fun little game, but the way it has been being used & pushed is concerning.
Learn chess. I don't have to be good at it. I've just always wanted too. The general rules, being decent at not losing all the time, knowing what the pieces are called...I have an app now, and there's online sites where you can play with other people. It's fun.
Get my license. I already have my learners, so license is the next step. It'll take me a bit to be comfortable.
Start college during the Fall semester? I honestly and truly just don't know what Im doing when it comes to applications, financial aid, WHEN I need to apply, anything like that......but hopefully, I can still do that. I've been trying to get information on how to do that for forever and it just seems so vague to me.
These aren't really New Years Resolutions. Just in general things that I think will improve my life.

Hi! What tools do you use for coloring because I am absolutely in love with your style
Tumblr media
I mainly draw using Sai. Sometimes I tweak some illustrations via CSP or Photoshop but only when those tools like liquify arent available in SAI.
For coloring I usually just put paper textures that I feel like fits the illustration. I just color normally then add textures then tweak it a bit to make it look like its water colory-ish in a sense(?)
Try looking for textures online and overlay them! Experiment! I sometimes use 2 or more textures just to achieve the look im looking for. This also applies with the brushes I use or overlay texture on the "line" layer to make everything homogenous! Hope this answers your question :)

You Need an Edge
Tumblr media
I get asked this same question every year, "Denise, why are you so passionate about doing an entire analysis of everything: real estate, housing legislation, new construction, jobs, transportation, migration, infrastructure, and more?"
youtube
The answer is simple. When you know more, you are able to share more. When you are educated about things related to our occupation - and real estate affects and is affected by nearly everything - you have an edge. That's why I do it.
I do it so you and my clients can have an edge over the competition and serve your clients better.
I'll give you a couple great examples.
Residential Resale
There's a lot going on in residential resale real estate right now. A lot! A lot is going on with compensation in this market segment, inventory shifts, and big businesses that want to cut-in on traditional real estate agents for a piece of the market-pie. So, what I like to do is a real deep-dive and research where those threats really are happening and what kinds of opportunities might they be creating? When you take the time to get in touch with your market, tracking listings, weekly pendings, and stopping by the permitting office every couple months to see what new inventory and changes are happening, you will be ahead of the game.
Housing Legislation
Housing legislation is also a huge one. You need to be in the know about what is happening because once you know about what's going on it allows you to prepare. For example, here in the State of Washington, I knew that legislators were realizing they had to do something about the lack of inventory and that housing is too expensive. I knew there was going to be a house bill that would allow us to build ADU/DADUs. I saw it coming. That gave me an edge and it allowed me to teach my clients about it. That meant my coaching clients had an edge when they went on a listing presentation, they could talk about it too. It meant I could help them get certified on doing a market analysis on property potential with this as a factor.
Inventory Trends
Knowing what's going on around your industry gives you a crystal ball into what is in the future. Market knowledge helps you to foresee where the market trends are and where they are going. For example, different types of inventory that used to perform really well (or not so well) are starting to shift. If you know what that shift is and where it is happening in your market, you have an edge over your competition and will be better positioned as an agent when you are listing those properties.
Honing Your Edge
Every year I do my State of the Market presentation. Agents who attend know more and are better prepared. They are able to take that information, apply it to their business, and be ahead of the game.

I want everybody to have the best 2025 possible and that means that I hope you will take the time to develop your edge. Build your business knowledge. Learn what is happening at your town halls and in your local legislature. Find out what's being built and planned for in your area at your local permitting office.
And - if you need help catching up on this year's market and want the insight of someone who has been studying markets both here and all over our country for decades, from someone who is active in government and has the inside scoop on upcoming legislation, then come to my State of the Market. Registration closes this Tuesday the 21st at 4 PM Pacific and showtime is Wednesday the 22nd from 9 AM to Noon. You will not regret coming and your business will be better for it. See you there!

your f/o page is so so so pretty!!!! how'd you make the little heart icons for your f/os??
aww thank you! ♥ all my icons are made using clipping layers, overlays, & then i run them through this neat online filter called dither me this. the timing of this ask is awesome, since i've been putting off adding the baker family to my f/o list for a while now lol... let me make a quick little tutorial to make it easier for you!
these are my base images. the first is the heart + outline, and the 2nd two are the heart & outline as separate pngs--just in case that makes it easier for you once you start clipping images!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i use CSP so my screenshots will apply to CSP, but most art programs should have the clipping layer tool available if you look around. i just find any photo i like of my F/O's, place it above the heart, clip to layer below, & bam! clean.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i'll apply an overlay to all my F/O icons just to make sure they all look visually similar enough on my F/O page. the digitally drawn characters are harder to assimilate into the aesthetic, but using similar colored filters helps a lot! for my purposes i usually overlay a red color using either the "multiply" or "darken" masks, usually in the 30%-40% range--i toy around till i like the colors & it seems to match my other icons.
and FINALLY! my favorite part, this beautiful online tool called dither me this. i love the dithered effect, & theres a ton of options to play around & experiment with. these are the settings i use for my page!
Tumblr media
aaand at the end of it, ive got a couple new icons to code into my f/o page :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
feel free to follow this tutorial along as experimentally or to the T as you'd like--i definitely dont own any of this, so have fun! though i do recommend playing around with dither me this just because its so fun <3

How to Become an Advanced Scrum Master in 2024?
As the demand for agile methodologies continues to rise, the role of a Scrum Master has never been more critical. If you've already dipped your toes into the world of Scrum and are wondering how to take your skills to the next level, 2024 might just be the perfect year to become an advanced Scrum Master. In this blog post, we'll explore actionable steps to help you elevate your expertise and stand out in this competitive field.
 1. Deeply Your Understanding of Agile Principles
Before anything else, it’s essential to have a solid grasp of agile principles. As an advanced Scrum Master, you’ll need to not only understand these principles but also embody them in your daily work. Revisit the Agile Manifesto and its twelve principles, and consider how they can be applied more effectively within your teams.
Tumblr media
Advanced Scrum Masters are not just facilitators but also champions of agile culture. Start thinking about how you can promote a mindset shift in your organization, encouraging teams to fully embrace agility in every aspect of their work.
 2. Master the Scrum Framework
While you likely already know the basics of Scrum, advancing in your role means mastering every aspect of the framework. This includes understanding the nuances of each Scrum event (like sprints, sprint reviews, and retrospectives) and the roles within a Scrum team.
Delve deeper into the intricacies of product backlogs, sprint planning, and the importance of delivering incremental value. The more you know, the better equipped you'll be to guide your team through complex challenges.
 3. Enhance Your Facilitation and Coaching Skills
A big part of being an advanced Scrum Master involves facilitating meetings and coaching team members. These skills are crucial for helping teams overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.
In 2024, focus on improving your ability to facilitate productive discussions, mediate conflicts, and encourage collaboration. Additionally, invest time in developing your coaching abilities. Learn how to mentor team members, support them in problem-solving, and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
 4. Gain Experience with Multiple Scrum Teams
One of the best ways to deepen your expertise is by working with different Scrum teams. Each team has its own dynamics, challenges, and strengths. By exposing yourself to a variety of teams, you’ll gain insights into different ways of applying Scrum and managing teams effectively.
If your current organization has multiple Scrum teams, consider requesting to rotate between them or collaborate on cross-team initiatives. If not, look for opportunities to join agile communities where you can share experiences and learn from others.
 5. Stay Updated with Industry Trends
The world of Scrum and agile is ever-evolving. To remain an advanced Scrum Master, it’s crucial to stay informed about the latest trends, tools, and techniques. In 2024, make it a habit to read relevant blogs, attend webinars, and participate in agile conferences.
Engage with other Scrum Masters and agile practitioners through online forums or social media groups. This not only helps you stay current but also provides a platform to exchange ideas and solutions.
 6. Consider Advanced Certifications
Certifications can give your career a significant boost. If you haven’t already, consider pursuing advanced Scrum certifications like the Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) or the Scrum Master Advanced Certification (SMAC). These certifications demonstrate your commitment to continuous learning and can set you apart from your peers.
 Conclusion
Becoming an advanced Scrum Master in 2024 is all about continuous learning, practice, and dedication. By deepening your understanding of agile principles, mastering the Scrum framework, enhancing your facilitation and coaching skills, gaining diverse experience, staying updated with industry trends, and pursuing advanced certifications, you’ll be well on your way to excelling in this vital role. The journey may be challenging, but the rewards—both for you and your teams—are well worth the effort.
So, are you ready to take your Scrum Master skills to the next level in 2024? The path is clear; now it’s time to start walking it.

Best practices for securing .NET applications, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
In the tech world, the increasing prevalence of cyber threats requires a secure web application. As an app owner or web developer, ensuring the security of your web app is crucial. .Net has the principles of modern web development that enhance the security features by protecting user data, robust web development and fostering trust.  Here are some of the best practices for security in .Net applications we can use or work with .Net development Services. to get the best practices right away.
Use of  HTTPS: .It avoids tampering and eavesdropping, data exchanged between clients and servers should always be encrypted via HTTPS.
Authentication: Make use of robust authentication techniques such as JWT tokens, OpenID Connect, or OAuth. For increased security, use multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Authorization: Use role-based access control (RBAC) to make sure users are authorized to access certain resources. For fine-grained access restriction, use claims-based authorization.
Input Validation: Verify all user input to stop injection threats like CSRF, XSS, and SQL injection.
Secure Storage: Securely store private data using hashing methods and encryption, such as API keys and passwords.
Logging and Monitoring: Use monitoring and logging to quickly identify and address security incidents.
Secure Configuration: Make sure that all of the application's configurations, including third-party libraries, database connections, and API endpoints, are secure.
Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) Prevention: As a defense against XSS assaults, use encoding libraries like AntiXSS.
Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) Prevention: It defends against CSRF attacks, use anti-forgery tokens.
Secure APIs: To secure your APIs, use authorization and authentication procedures. To guard against misuse, apply throttle and rate limitation.
Regular Updates: Update your program with the most recent security patches and upgrades, as well as any dependencies.
Security Headers: To guard against common security flaws, use security headers like X-Frame-Options and Content Security Policy (CSP).
Using ASP.NET Core to create safe online applications necessitates a thorough strategy that covers several application development facets. Hire .Net developers that can guarantee the security of sensitive user data and drastically lower the chance of vulnerabilities by adhering to the best practices mentioned above.
