#client wanted to put a swimming pool directly in front of their bedroom to stop. snakes. from getting in. apparently #they’re an older couple and have no intention of swimming in the pool #it’s just to stop. the snakes #also the house is for the two of them and it has three bedrooms. and all the spaces are massively oversized.#they also own the house next door and almost certainly many more #since they just put in an application for a 90 million dollar development somewhere else #hooooo. i like my coworkers and like the technical aspects of my job but im like. losing it #also that time a client yelled at me bc her tiles came late from italy like wtf #am i the tile manufacturer ??? am i the australian border force ???? am i the shipping boat ????????#anyway im going insane. anyone wanna pay me to draw whatever characters i want forever #why don’t i have any interests in industries that are not notorious for horrible work hours …..

I love being home. There are four other adults here who periodically cook meals with enough to share. There's always butter and I don't have to pay for it.

#a sock speaks #there are definitely issues at home but this is so nice #I'm planning to take the rest of May off and just settle and rest #then see if my job applications go anwhere. then maybe work at restaurant job again if they don't.#though there've been management changes and idk about how they've been treating employees lately #I see people in the group chat having a Very Bad Time #working there will probably be okay. but I ought to get practice applying to things as a matter of personal development #tomorrow maybe I'll check and see how my violin is after months of leaving it untouched. scary.#sometime this week I want to dye my sheets bright green. I got two bottles of Rit dye #I think I want this job a little too much. I need to be okay with not getting it but want it enough to go for it. balance is hard.

i just had to take this ai personality test to submit a job application (to be a bartender).

#the end of our society is upon us yall #i think it’s so funny that so much of imaging our future with technology (sci-fi) branches off into two subsection #A. technology gets so advanced that it becomes the governing (tyrannical) power #or B. technology aids humanity in developing a star trek esque utopia of convenience and luxury #but i don’t think anyone predicted this #this weird dependency on technology (especially AI and other ‘smart’ tech) thats actually just shit #like yeah tech is replacing human jobs and doing it worse and less convenient #it wasn’t that long ago when you could call up any store and a real human being would answer #like… 5-10 years ago??#do you remember when you could walk into a store and get a job application and fill it out by hand #in order to get to this ‘personality test’ stage i had to chat with an AI virtual assistant #and then make an account and (after verifying my email of course) filled out my online application (again…)#and then i had to take this personality test #all so i can continue serving ppl highballs and beer??#its sad to see how normalized this is now #anyway as frustrated as i am by the state of the world #i’m choosing to laugh at how fkn dumb this ai test is #i’m gonna post more pics in a sec

#personal #uniposting #after a week of intense and agonising fucking work (and an all nighter or two) we done did it #so sure. they provided with an approximation for how many words we should be writing for each section and mine are wildly disproportionate #and maaaaybe i “forgot” one section entirely for the sake of how much content i had to write about in the other sections #and maaaaaybe i bit off more than i could chew in terms of the numbers of research points i was going to address (i ended up doing 5 of 9)#but the research was researched. the citations were cited. and the references were referenced.#…i still have the fairly laborious task of formatted all my practical work into design boards for submission #(which will take some time (i have three days including today. which sucks bc i pulled an all nighter yesterday) bc i-#-lacked much showcasing of my process and development (spoilers: i Did Not Have anything. i winged (wung?) it due to deadline pressure)#AND i can’t forget to complete the last page of the job application template they wanted us to submit too. feck’s sake.#…but yeah. essay done 👍

when orime came back to japan she tried to work for JEOL but because they require kanji on japanese job applications they saw her family name was "magnet annoyance" and discreetly dumped her resume in the burnable trash

#it's actually related to her “working” for companies developing navigation systems for ships originally #but it's certainly not a good sign on a job application for an electron microscopy/NMR company
