#apparently I'm not allowed to be critical and have a nuanced reaction to these things and this is not the first time

also if most catholics agreed with you, they wouldn't have agreed with the church's positions.
I have no idea what your point is. Yes, many Catholics agree with me and disagree with the Church. That's what I said.
also political debate is all fine and well but when you define one position as inherently "good" and the other as inherently "bad", you eliminate all nuance and that's not a debate, that's imposing your opinion as a fact.
How is me saying things on the internet imposing anything on anyone?
I am having an opinion, and apparently your immediate reaction to that is to tell me to shut up and go away, then accuse me of shutting down debate (by having an opinion you don't like), then saying I should... go protest? Unclear what exactly. And then bring up an unrelated issue, because I guess until I have solved racism I shouldn't talk about homophobia.
People can criticise the Catholic Church. And the Catholic Church does things that invite criticism. There's no way around that.
But, since you apparently felt like I was imposing my opinion, I'm going to try to make sure I'm inviting debate: Do you agree with the Catholic Church's position that I should not be allowed to be married to my wife, or do you just object to me objecting to it? If you believe that, why do you believe it?
I'm sorry you feel this way about the Catholic Church. As a transfem Catholic, obviously I hope and pray that the next Pope will be as good or hopefully better than Francis, but it is a bit disheartening seeing literally everyone in my social circles from the atheist queer crowd to the sedevacantist trad crowd cheering for his death.
I'm not gonna stop being trans or Christian, mind you. And I hope that one day that'll be fine. In the mean time, guess I'll pray for us all lmao
Are you sorry about the things the Catholic Church did to make me feel that way, too?
Your faith is your business. But the Catholic Church has a track record of making their faith everyone else's business, and I'll be angry at them until they stop.

//I saw Barbie last night and tonight I'm off to see TMNT.
For now I am going to try not to fall asleep and maybe do some writing.
#//I loved most of the barbie movie but the ending..... I have a lot of thoughts about#and I've been mansplained too twice now whilst trying to articulate those thoughts#and the irony is not lost on me that two men have tried to explain to me how Barbie has basically solved feminism given what happens in the#movie#like#I can't as a woman I can't#it's not enough I liked most of the movie#apparently I'm not allowed to be critical and have a nuanced reaction to these things and this is not the first time#nor will it be the last that I have these arguments about#not just representation but other things in film#it's not like I'm being incredibly nit picky#like omg they didn't have an autistic anxious barbie I wasn't represented lets cry#I had this same thing with elemental about people FAILING strong female characters in film
