what do u think of laurgenerroth? (laurgene x garroth)

i have never heard of this before, so i'm neutral! here are my rambles though :3 this is in context of my own headcanons though so i'm sorry if you were looking for a canon-compliant take!

also i don't think this will be canon for my rewrite (garrance or laurgenerroth), but i talked abt it pretty in depth LOLL

WARNINGS FOR: toxicity, evil man behavior (MCD!gene, non-descriptive)

hmmm... in context of MCD (my bbg), gene treats garroth like he does laurance. he has a sick enjoyment in taking good people and destroying them, whether that means killing them or turning them into the worst version of themselves, and probably sees garroth as another thing to wound laurance with, mostly. i think garroth is only interested in hurting gene in defense of laurance, while laurance develops an unfortunate, toxic codependency with gene—something garroth can't understand because gene is awful (this is probably an area of hypocrisy for garroth but idk right now LMAO). basically, their dynamic is more like laurance's morals/loyalty vs his mental illness with gene and garroth on either side, yanking on him.

safe to say, it doesn't work. gene doesn't develop any feelings for garroth. the only mutual feeling between them is hate. laurance doesn't know how he feels, i reckon.

0/10 on healthiness. probably like, a 7/10 on interesting content/dynamics.

with the myverse (PDH+), i can see it having more potential!!

i believe in PDH!laurgene exes; at the time, gene's toxicity and poor habits inevitably drive laurance away. laurance finds a new friendship in garroth, who's... completely different. he's gentler, he's friendlier, he doesn't swear, he's technically perfect (which gets on his nerves at first, but as the relationship progresses, he realizes it wasn't even true in the first place). gene gets jealous over this because, believe it or not, he is self aware. he knows garroth is a better person and friend and whatever to laurance than he could ever be. now, unlike MCD, gene actually lets laurance go. at first, it's kind of a version of self-harm, because he's still in love with laurance and he wants to keep him. after a few months and a change of scenery, he begins to see it as like... a necessary evil.

i once read a beautiful oneshot where garroth and gene develop a relationship in college and i actually REALLY enjoyed that, so i'm gonna say that's what happened. i'm not sure if garroth and laurance end up at the same college or different ones, so i can't really describe how this would go?? but ultimately they see that gene has changed a LOT, and even though he has rough patches and a few persistent habits, he's genuinely trying to improve.

mystreet is probably where an actual relationship would take place. in spirit of the ask (LAURGENE and garroth), maybe laurance decides to try again with gene. it's all going very well, but both of them can sense something just... missing. eventually, they realize there's a garroth-shaped hole in their lives and they bring it up to him (who's been quietly angsting over losing BOTH of them because he wasn't sure how to navigate his feelings).

10/10 healthiness, they hold each other accountable and understand each other's struggles. i would say a 9/10 on content/dynamics.
