It was Aono Shimo, the Medb fan artist who got to do a lot of official fgo art for her. He did almost all the Celts for the April fools baseball chibi art, but he really does draw Alter like that all the time in pretty much all his works
can’t stop thinking about how whoever drew that image for “cu alter baseball” and probably could have done whatever with it went “he is sitting there eating chips and being a whole slob about it”. like yes you get it he’s fucking pathetic

Problematic Yuri Tournament - Round One
I'm in Love with the Villainess vs. It gets so lonely here
I'm in Love with the Villainess (manga by Aono Shimo and Inori.)
Submitted problematic elements: The main character doesn't take no for awnser when pursuing her love interest. There is an incest plot point between side characters, and mention of rape. Oh, and due to isekai non-sense it could also be considered an underage ship.
Submitted content warnings: Rape, Sexual Assault, Sexual Harassment, Classicism, Bullying, Incest
Submitted propaganda: They're cute when they tease eachother and I like it when Claire bullies Rae, okay???
But genuinely, this is a series that has a deep understanding of what it means to be queer and is not afraid to have frank discussions thereof. While I might not agree agree with the inclusion of all the problematic elements, I cannot deny that they serve to elevate the story beyond what it would've been otherwise.
It gets so lonely here (visual novel by ebi-hime)
Submitted problematic elements: a victim of extreme bullying makes a deal with a witch and gets trapped in a storybook nightmare world full of murderous yandere girls
Submitted content warnings: murder, bullying, mentioned homophobia
Submitted propaganda: i too dream of running away from boarding school to fall in love with a yandere and get fucking murdered

also, curious what your searching methods are for finding manga panels like this..haven't had much luck with panels on any of the main sites i use e.g. tineye lens saucenao etc, so i'm wondering if you have any specific strategies
Well, I always start my searches on Google Lens. If I'm lucky, the first step will identify the series right away, and if not, the "Find source" step might find it used with its name somewhere.
This time, I was lucky on the second image:
私の推しは悪役令嬢。 (Ch. 33) — いのり。, 青乃下
alias "I Favor the Villainess" by Inori. and Aono Shimo
But what if I had not been so lucky? Then the detective work starts.
I joke a bit, but that's how it usually feels. I try to collect as much data as I can based on the starting images. For example, if it was posted here on Tumblr, someone might mention a character or a ship name on the tags.
And in the case where the image cannot be found anywhere, there's the option to search based on the likeness of the characters or on the text still in the panels.
Either way, all the little bits I collect can help me get to a name, and once I have a name, I can search for it!
In this case, however, I think you were just early to the party. This one chapter was released just some ten days ago and, when you went looking, the search engine crawlers might not have seen any of those images yet.

pov you’ve read the i’m in love with the villainess manga. it’s one of your favorites and you recommend it to everybody looking to enjoy the gl “genre”. with the author’s completed novel being heavily commended, all that the manga needs to do is follow the source material’s storyline and design an art style that efficiently represents it. and aono shimo does. the visuals remain timeless even as the main idea changes and further develops. you are introduced to rei, the protagonist, who is transported into her favorite dating sim. her objective, and the main idea presented, is to pursue both a platonic and romantic relationship with her favorite character, claire. to do so, she needs to ensure her love interest’s wellbeing by influencing her to change. as her status and values are the target of a revolution that in the original storyline caused her social demise.
the art style is reminiscent of the average dating sim. it is juvenile, yet edgy enough to carry with the mature themes of the story. allowing expression to fit both comedic purposes as tragic ones. allows it to show cliched tropes while dropping clues about the fragile and violent sociopolitical climate of the setting. which eventually leads to the revelation that the commoners are planning a revolution; and that it will end with a coup targeting all aristocrats.
now you’re watching the anime adaptation because you want to motivate the industry to keep making anime adaptations of novels and mangas with wlw pairings. you want the gl “genre” to become mainstream. however, the story calls for discussion of themes like corruption, incest, class politics, violence, sexual harrasment, and the like... and the art style looks like this:
#cheekies.txt#tw claire's piss colored hair#(if the iftv adaptation has million number of haters i am one of them. if the iftv adaptation has ten haters i am one of them.#if the iftv adaptation has no haters. that means i am no more on the earth. )#(i keep imagining if it had rgu's art style and mourning)#iftv#i favor the villainess#i'm in love with the villainess

I'M IN LOVE WITH THE VILLAINESS: LA ROMCOM YURI ISEKAI DIVENTERÀ UNA SERIE ANIMATA
Il nuovo anime targato Platinum Vision sbarcherà sulle tv giapponesi nel 2023.
Secondo annuncio della giornata! Anche qui si parla di romance, yuri fra l'altro e coinvolge lo sciogliere il cuoricino di una villain. Ottimo direi.
La casa editrice GL Bunko ha, infatti, svelato che "I'M IN LOVE WITH THE VILLAINESS" (Watashi no Oshi wa Akuyaku Reijo) ispirerà una serie animata programmata per il 2023, attualmente in lavorazione presso lo studio PLATINUM VISION (Kono Oto Tomare! Sounds of Life, Love of Kill).
youtube
Le due protagoniste della commedia romantica, sono Rae Taylor e Claire Francois. Ad interpretarle nell'anime troviamo rispettivamente Karin Nanami (Meiya Mitsurugi in Muv-Luv Alternative) e Yu Serizawa (Shera L. Greenwood in How Not to Summon a Demon Lord).

Citrus (manga by Saburouta) [suggestive]
Mod submission; stepsister incest and some dubcon moments... a true classic. Whether you like citrus or not you've definitely heard of citrus.

I Favor the Villainess!
Title: I Favor the Villainess / 私の推しは悪役令嬢。/ WataOshi Author: Aono Shimo Synopsis: Former office worker Oohashi Rei is reborn as Rei Taylor, the protagonist of her favorite fantasy otome game! But instead of pursuing the three male leads, Rei only wants to woo Claire Francois, the curly-haired, ojou-san-type villainess. Despite Claire’s efforts to rebuke and bully Rei for her commoner status, our protagonist only finds it ever more endearing. Rei’s courtship might only be off-putting and confusing at first, but Claire slowly finds herself respecting her pushy and mysterious classmate. Genre: comedy, fantasy, romance, shoujo, shoujo-ai
read up to chapter 3 on mangadex
my thoughts under the cut!
very cute!! highly recommend!!! a rare wlw take on the isekai trend
ohhhhh my goooodddd this is soo cute i love seeing romance play out from the perspective of the woo-er rather than the woo-ee because you get to really see claire’s charm points. we love an ol fashioned tsundere. As the protagonist, Rei is refreshingly clear about what she wants and how she plans to get it. At the same time, I appreciate how she’s not all keikaku-y and is honest/earnest about her fondness for Claire. Rei’s original life is spent at a black company (eg a company that overworks its employees and has crazy overtime) and she finds escape in this particular otome game, which is super relatable. like, i would go bonkers over my fav fictional characters if i met them in real life?? i get the sense that the author understands what it’s like to be a fan lol which makes it easy to sympathize with Rei (her extensive knowledge of the world is explained by the fact that she wrote fanfic and had to replay the game over and over to get the minor details right which is like, a mood).
also:
same babes. (also as a personal note, i don’t think her treatment of claire ever gets like, too creepy if that makes sense? it’s a personal preference but i dont go for stories that have the characters be like, full on stalkers to establish their interest)
as for Claire, she’s your typical tsundere, drill-toting villainess made loveable. she’s very clearly a hard worker and trying her best to fulfill the role she sets for herself. she might make unreasonable demands, but she’s confident in herself and she honors her word.
ugh what a cutie
the chemistry makes a lot of sense to me and overall i find the whole story very charming. the characters have a maturity that grounds the interactions to feel real/meaningful even in a fantasy/comedy setting. The artsyle is cute and also respectful (no obscene flashing of the boobies), although i cant say i Looove rei’s character design. im excited to see where this goes, and i! can’t! wait! for claire to fall in love??
look at her what a good egg
