AUUUUUGH. thought of a space au for my ocs vaguely inspired by a mouth/washing amv i saw where jack is captain of a crew and ellen's co-captain and so SO resentful of him being picked and doing well with seemingly zero effort

things come to a head when after she tampers with his safety line ("a proper captain would catch that the safety line isn't properly secured" GIRL HE TRUSTS YOU) debris from a wrecked ship send him spinning away... she regrets it enough to pull off a super risky manuever (think mark watney from the martian using a tear in his suit to propel himself through space risky) that saves his life but he's severely injured and out of commission

and so, after rhe monkey's paw has curled, ellen is captain. yay! there's more, but it's a surprise for now ^_^
