You want me to Take responsibility for the satirical, suggestive art I drew over 2 years ago upon request? Sure thing. My side profiles looked like shit back then and I don’t even want to look back at the dialogue I wrote for them at the time. What I will seriously say on the matter is that some of you are misinterpreting the intent behind that piece. Obviously if anything of any suggestive caliber makes you cringe, then you aren’t going to care about intent. That’s fine. You get to block the tag, block me, whatever, to curate your own online experience. What you don’t get to do is create a moral problem out of it when you dislike or feel discomfort with the topic being displayed. To circle back to intent, That piece was created to get a laugh out of people who enjoy the inherently ridiculous dynamic behind Nevaac. Obviously what makes you laugh is subjective, but whether or not you personally found it funny doesn’t erase the fact that I created it to be that way. Had I intended it to be purely suggestive, I wouldn’t have gone out of my way to censor part of the request (something also done to be funny), or pose them in a way that prioritized their expressions rather than their bodies, or dressed Isaac in weed pajama pants. I won't shy away from the fact that I've created artwork with the intention of creating suggestive fan-service. When I was younger, I had a huge fictional crush on that deranged emo kid. I would not say the same now despite him being one of my favorite characters of all time; I have outgrown him in that regard. I would not draw those same pieces today; hell, I wouldn’t draw the “”Infamous Monopoly Drawing”” today. I admit to being younger and more naïve when I drew that piece; however, I also will mention that I was within an appropriate age range for that behavior to not be objectively creepy at the time of drawing that. If you still believe the artwork I’ve created to be a serious problem in need of fandom-wide exposure, then I encourage you to reorient yourself with some current events to remind yourself what the majority of the population considers to be real problems. Regardless of the piece, I do try my best to tag possibly concerning content so that people who want a fun, carefree fandom experience don’t have to see it. If you think I’ve missed some tags, don’t be scared to tell me.

Continuing off of that, I advertise myself as a weirdo all of the time; not the kind of weirdo I’ve been insinuated to be, but someone who creates and enjoys strange (and occasionally disturbing) things nonetheless. It's plastered fucking everywhere on my blog. The ‘16+’ warning is there for a reason. The labeling on the packaging doesn’t exist to be ignored. Block the tags I encourage you to block in my pinned post if you don’t want my stuff in the fandom tags, or block me directly, which I have also encouraged people to do.

It truly feels as though some of you are forgetting that the people on the other side of your screen are just that; people. I am a real person. The IBVS fandom is made up of real people. Flipping this coin over, the characters in IBVS are not real people. Edward Quinton does not get upset when Edwix fanart gets published in the tag. You want to know who does actually get upset? Every real fandom member that scrolls through the tag looking for new fanart or theories where they instead end up finding people repeatedly making “callout posts” about shit hardly anyone even cares to remember. At this point, those posts are polluting the tag with its played-out drama more than I ever have with my artwork. Listen to me when I tell you this: go re-read the story. Go think of ridiculous and outlandish theories. Go make an unreasonable amount of fanart for your favorite jock with only 13 total lines. Go make OCs and AUs with your friends. Enjoy IBVS for what it is and stop making yourself and others miserable by obsessing over stuff a rando did on the internet. Go have a good time.

TL;DR: If you’re mad at me for literally whatever reason, go throw a fit about it in the privacy of your own blog outside of the fandom tags where you will upset uninvolved people. You are allowed to hate me. You are allowed to think whatever you want about me. What I believe you should not be allowed to do is to turn this already small fandom full of genuinely kind and creative people into a warzone, or at the very least a less-than-hospitable fan-space, that discourages artists, writers, and other fans from enjoying the story.

Hi, sorry to bother you! I saw one of your reviews, and I’m a person getting back into reading. I was curious in what ways you’ve found work best for finding people and connecting in the writing and reading community as an author? I only use YouTube and Reddit for the most part, but I really find myself wanting to engage more. I have no desire to use twitter or instagram, so I’m kind of at a standstill on where and how to get more involved.

No bother at all!

I personally prefer instagram, because I have a great love of photography and graphic design to go along with my love of words. But that aside, I know there are several authors and readers right here on Tumblr who you could engage with. Also, BookTube is definitely a thing. I don't personally use Youtube, but I have an author friend who regularly tells me about review videos she found on BookTube (the book community on Youtube).

But really book people are everywhere. My recommendation would be to use the search engine on your favorite platform, and look for "book" and see what comes up. On Tumblr the tags you might want are booklr. On TikTok you'd want booktok. On Instagram it's bookstagram. On Youtube I'd try booktube. Not sure about Reddit, but I'm sure there are book people there too!

Another idea might be to try out Fable. I haven't used it extensively myself yet, but I know that app in particular was built for readers to create virtual book clubs. So that feels like it might be a good way to meet other book lovers.

If it's authors, in particular, you're looking to connect with, many of us have our preferred platforms or modes of communication on our websites.

Also reaching out just like this to authors and book lovers is sometimes a really great way to make new friends in the community. Many of my author friends I've made over the years I've made because I ignored my brain when it said, "you're just going to be annoying" and reached out anyway. It doesn't always work out. Sometimes I reach out and am either ignored, or the conversation is off and on. But I've made at least a few friendships who are people I now speak to every day by simply reaching out, saying hi, and talking books with them.

The friend I mentioned above who regularly uses booktube is one of them. We started by my asking her to beta read one of my early works back in 2019. Then we moved on to talking about anime. And now we speak every day about just about anything; work, politics, family.

So you really never know what those connections will lead to, and how they'll last. Sometimes they won't amount to anything. But from what I've seen of the book community, most of us (myself included) just want someone to nerd out with, and don't have those people living near us so we're happy to make new online friends.

I know the community can seem daunting, and huge at times, but trust me, you'll find your people. And I'm more than happy to chat books or craft with you if you want to reach out to me as well.

6.If you could move somewhere else, would you? Yes. I'd move to either New York or Sweden. I don’t know. Part of me says yes. But part of me says no..b/c even though Texas has it’s faults (a LOT of them), I cannot imagine living anywhere else long-term..

7. Ever been kissed under fireworks? HAHA. Yeah right. I've never even been kissed! Still nope. I have been kissed though. He just didn’t kiss me under the fireworks the one NYE we spent together...

8. Which of your friends lives closest to you? Um, I think R, but D might also. D is accross Stasney from me and R is a couple blocks down (I don’t talk to these people much anymore & I’m not going to share their names on Tumblr) Uh. I think Maybe Raven? B/c they’re the only one who lives in the same city still. But, Sarah might technically be closer distance wise? Hold on. Ok, yeah, Sarah’s closer, even though she doesn’t live in this city anymore.

9. Do you believe exes can be friends? It all depends on the situation.(I totally stold M's answer but it's true) (I don’t talk to this person anymore & I’m not gonna share their name on Tumblr) I mean, yeah. Two of my best friends are each others exes and they’re still friends. I haven’t stayed friend with my ex, but, uh, he ghosted me so? Lol.

11. When was the last time you cried really hard? I can't remember. I don't think it was that long ago, I had a light cry on Saturday, but I don't remember the last time I cried really hard. When we got back from our trip in July. Had a full on breakdown that night. Overheated all weekend. Overwhelmed. Anxiety. It was not a very good vacation..I cry a lot though.

13. Who was the last person you took a picture of? Umm, either myself, or one of my family members. Aside from myself. I think my dad, on his phone, b/c there was a cicada on his shoulder and he wanted to ask the family group chat if he could keep it. Lol. I take a LOT of pictures of cats though. Lol.

14. Was yesterday better than today? Hail yes! To much drama today! And I couldn't avoid it cause I was in the middle of it! (Oof, what drama was 15 yo Linda dealing with that she couldn’t avoid? Lol. I mean, I guess, Sophomore year was a bit full of drama lol) Anyway, I mean, they were pretty much the same. One wasn’t better than the other. One wasn’t worse than the other.

15. Can you live a day without TV? yeah. Now Music there is something I can't live without! Yep, Do it almost everyday. Sentiments about music remain the same. Lol.

16. Are you upset about anything? Yes. I'm annoyed about something and it's making me upset. (I assume this has something to do with the the drama mentioned earlier lol) Always. Anxiety & depression are a bitch. My rooms a mess & I can’t get myself to clean it. My shelves are still a mess.

17. Do you think relationships are ever really worth it? yeah. though i havent really had one yet. I mean, yeah. Even though I haven’t had one last, aside from friendships, but they’re worth it.

19. Night out or night in? Depends on what's going on and how I feel about it. Night in usually. I do like going out sometimes, but, like, to dinner. Maybe a movie or a show. But, you know, we’ve been in a panini press, the only thing I’ve been comfortable doing is going to dinner (fully vaxxed & masked). But I also prefer staying home anyway. (Like I usually just go to dinner with my family lol)

20. What items could you not go without during the day? my computer. my book. my journal and a pen. My phone. My journal (b/c I write in it every night, as a diary, 14yo Linda wrote stories). Uh. I didn’t take food or drinks into account in the og, so I won’t in those. But, yeah. My phone & journal. I can go a day without my laptop if I need to. (Went the whole trip in July without pulling it out, though maybe that’s not a good example since my anxiety on that trip was so high..) I want to say a book, but I’ve been in a massive reading slump so...I wish I read as much as 15yo Linda did..

23. How do you feel about your life right now? I'm loving and hating it. but hey nobody gets out alive right? Uh..I mean. I’m alive. I have WiFi. Food. Family. I haven’t seen my friends in 2 years. (Minus Alex, b/c they were here in July to cat/house sit, but I saw them for like, one night..) There’s a lot that could be better. A lot that could be worse.

I've been at such a stagnant point with my social anxiety in particular that I have to start pushing back harder, and doing this I feel would be one of the most relaxed, social job positions I can hopefully handle. Apparently, I've only had one truly educated psychiatrist out of no less than a dozen I'd seen, because he fixed me right up. He taught me that those who suffer from bipolarity should avoid anti-depressants; they ramp up your bipolar symptoms. Instead, mood stabilizers are favorable. And what do you know, after I was prescribed a stabilizer and a catalyst for that medication, my depression decreased dramatically and became handleable. Have you ever starved yourself? Kinda. So it’s been a week. And I’ve thought a lot on the situation, I’m sure people know what I’m talking about. And despite me making this post I am still thinking about it all. It happened and the very next day my state caught fire so in an odd way I’m connecting these two situations? I’ll explain in a little bit. I’m not actually going to say everything on my mind as I have so much on my mind about the situation and I know from past experience my opinions can upset people. This post isn’t to do that. I just need to kinda say something without saying all the things I’m thinking of. Like I’ve stated so many times I’m really not good at putting my thoughts into words, especially with serious situations. I’ve heard a lot and I’m very confused still and I’m upset and disappointed and even mad at the way the situation is being handled and the way people are acting about it. So like the wildfires, I take the situation as something was said and whether it was true or not it quickly got out of hand and now things are such a mess. Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube and TikTok are all a mess. It’s everywhere just like the wildfire. What I am going to say about the situation is that like the wildfire I’m going to wait it out. Like everything that takes time this will too. Whether everything I’ve seen and heard is true or not, whether more things come out, it will all take time. And in the end I’m really hoping that it blows over and the situation doesn’t get worse. Speaking from the view of someone that has seen a lot of things go down in the kpop industry I don’t want another idol to be hated on and bullied to death. Ok I will say this, say it’s true, if it is let the people involved and the law handle it. Don’t get yourself involved because it’s not your problem. Putting yourself in a situation that has nothing to do with you just makes everything worse. I’ve been on both sides of that and it’s not Gucci at all. I probably didn’t say everything that I wanted to say without saying everything that I actually wanted to say because that would be a rant and I don’t want to do that and I don’t want to get into arguments and things with my followers and my mutuals.

That all being half-ass said keep this in mind, 2020 has already been such a shit year, what’s important is that we all take care of ourselves. There’s so much negativity everywhere and that affects a lot of us. So from someone who has been having a time for almost a week now, I love you, feel free to talk to me about any little thing you may be stressing over whether it’s school, work, this cursed pandemic, maybe you just had a bad day and need to vent about a paper, maybe you just need some attention. My asks are open and I answer my messages almost immediately after I get them unless tumblr is slow or crashes. Remember during all these hard times that you are the most important thing, your family and friends are the most important thing. (I don’t know where this is going but pretend I’m making a really great speech) take care of yourself, your family, your friends. Drink your water, (for anyone living in Oregon rn drinking coffee isn’t the best idea cause the smoke is bad so drink water! Also if you are living in Oregon I will stay positive for you. Hang in there love 💕) also I hope Cory and L.Joe’s families are alright totally not @ me dming Cory on insta oops get as much sleep as you can, be kind to yourself, take a break from social media if you need to, go for a walk, watch cat videos cause those are always great, cook or bake, read a book (like a real book with pages and shit trust me the nostalgia on that is comforting on it’s own), play with your animals NAPS ARE GREAT PEOPLE AND SO UNDERRATED. Listen to a new genre of music, might I suggest Nordic music, or songs used in Pow-Wows, it’s such good stuff. Scream into a pillow, crying is good just make sure you drink lots of water after cause you have to stay hydrated uwu! Anything to help comfort you or take your mind off things. I love you guys and I hope you are all doing alright. If anyone wants to send me pics of blue skies please do as I want to look at more pretty blue skies with white fluffy clouds uwu! Anyway I’m still finna stress myself about these two situations, keep in mind I seem to be more worried about the one that doesn’t involve me and I shouldn’t be. So I don’t know where this post is going like most of my posts but take care of yourselves you guys, don’t stress out over it too much, it’s not good for your health.
