I think about the implications of Syntax being a human turned spider demon forever, ok ?

i find it really funny, and i actually...love?  how often will graham inspires all sorts of negative emotions in people. how people tend to dislike him more than like him?  

firstly, because he’s a sort of...reflection of your worst parts, he tends to often mirror people’s energies, jack’s anger and determination, zeller’s intelligent competitiveness, freddie’s ruthless and uncouth attitude or even hannibal’s collected perceptiveness on a situation. he’s generally always going to be (automatically) adopting a different and reflective behavior around different people.

(which stays true to the fact that he has rejected all else but behaviorism, i.e. environmental factors over innate/inherited factors)

and this is one major aspect of what makes people so uncomfortable around him. he doesn’t have an over-abundant sense of self, (he is picking and choosing and always calculating in order to create as safe a mental place as he can) and so this comes almost naturally to him. 

this can often come naturally in conversation, especially with people you like or enjoy talking to, as it validates both parties but these small emotional cues and physical responses being echoed is also a powerful psychological technique in manipulating behavior (called mirroring) that will is of course, aware of and has the sentience to use. he is far more responsive than he seems, always.

it can often be a very persuasive thing and have a manipulative influence, and he seems to do it for different reasons at times, in which he appears to be almost meta-gaming with the aim of having an adverse affect (a sort of “i know what you’re doing” or “i know what you’re thinking” ... “i know who you are so you better fuck off or shut up” is sort of what he can be saying if he matches your energy in a physically aggressive way) 

but he has a far more psychological effect on people than they realize until they begin to really dislike or even hate him. he can accidentally or purposefully worm his way under people’s skin and it all depends on who here is being the reactive one. 

and secondly, will graham really makes no active and conscious effort to incite such feelings in people?  he doesn’t really care either way, he’s just doing his own thing, you know?  and it’s usually people having a very personal and sometimes weak-founded dislike in him that makes it funny. like this competitive but seemingly friendly nonetheless rivalry zeller has cultivated between them, it often tends to be far more one sided so will just carries on with concerning himself with his own life and jobs while people get left behind in this boiling turmoil of feelings for him.

it seems to be highly intelligent people who feel threatened by him, most of the time, because he is treated as the most intelligent person in the room. and if we’re honest here, he more likely than not, usually is, because it’s not simply an iq or academics or being witty or quick, those are quite basic and shallow in the prospect that they can be learned and worked on by anyone, and typically equate to adopted beliefs that sarcasm or negating opinions form a higher understanding of the world rather than by mastering the motivations or cognizance of others. 

but with his emotional receptiveness and perceptive capacity, it’s how actualized he is about the world yet how well he can anticipate possible scenarios and act upon their leading events in the present and actually get a result. he has an abundance of common sense and atypical reasoning that helps him navigate the world on an impersonally easy level and is very in tune with things like his gut feelings, things some would call that “sixth sense” but really is just animal instinct and awareness. 

he’s just...that person, he’s just speaking his mind or reacting to irritants and it seems to really get people riled up but at the same time he can stimulate such a devotion and friendship in someone like alana without even purposely trying to. he’s just the biggest shrug emoji because he doesn’t care what people think about him but people seem to think a lot about him anyway.
