okay so the neti have like 4000 year life spans, but they ALSO have innate force sensitivity and an ability to hibernate! are you thinking what i’m thinking?

(bug hibernates through the near wipe of their people, wakes up in an age where they’re considered to be a myth, and also they’re an amnesiac just for funsies (hence their name) subplot yada yada yada the gang finds their past identity, also the whole immortal/ mortal loves angst)

WHY BARRISS IS IN MY STORY: a brief overview of the history of that decision :)

it all started way back when, when i was originally realizing that my carachters needed… friends. objectively, the friends have stayed entirely the same. i’ve always* had a female miralian, a male nautolan, for amera and then a jedi temple guard for tom.

*there is one comic from july of 2020 with a male miralian but i’ve decided it doesn’t count.

most of the stuff featuring them is memes. anyways, the below art is from november. i remember HATING designing her tattoos here and then having my epiphany and replacing her with barriss immediately after this, but barriss doesn’t show up in my art until january from what i can find. so.

in terms of plot, june 2020 i decide amera’s gonna lose her arm. i sort of settle on the temple bombing as to how she loses it in july, (in the first draft, ahsoka is still framed and when amera wakes up tomilan is completely 100% ready to murder ahsoka on her behalf it’s a whole plot point)

as far as i can tell, in january 2021 is when both the art of barriss and the inclusion of her in my timeline starts.

pretty much, the original idea was that amera was caught in the explosion in the temple.

the new idea, was that amera and barriss were friends since they were younglings. like in canon, barriss is unhappy with what the jedi order is doing in the war. in my version, she tALKS to the jedi council, raising her complaints and issues. after being ignored and brushed aside, she joins with an anti war peace group, and brings amera with her. (it’s important to note that amera doesn’t make this change!! barriss does!! barriss never should have committed terrorism in the show it was out of character imo and either way a very islamophobic choice anyways she does not do that here)

anyways. the group uses them for their access in the temple. amera places what she believes is a hologram in the temple, and places the bomb. barriss does what she believes will wipe the security tapes and frames ahsoka.

amera and barriss realize that something is wrong, and run back into the temple to raise the alarm. anyways. amera loses her arm and barriss leaves the order with ahsoka. after the evidence is revealed neither of them are to blame for the attack, but barriss condemns the order for forcing her into a situation where she had to join a third party after her concerns were dismissed. ahsoka leaves for much the same reason as before.

anyways yeah. barriss is in my story. i’ve always been concerned about handling it respectfully, as i’ve seen so many complaints with felonis treatment of barriss. if there are any concerns as always let me know :)
