The fact that Tsubomi didnt end up as Mob's gf and became her friend is so important, it strenghtes the entire friendship motif of the series have and breaks the trope of there having to be romance between a boy and a girl, the friendzone isnt bad its just that ppl have been conditioned to think that it is, for Mob and Tsubomi could be one of the best things that happened in their lives. Im sure she wanted to have a friend that she could open up to without being judged and without having the risk of her being seen as just a love interest by them. I have the feeling that Tsubomi would enjoy being silly once in a while, leave the "school idol" status she has and I think Mob also likes to be silly! Based on the cake prank on reigen at the epilogue and Mob telling Dimple he didnt remember him during the Mogami Arc, Id love to see them being silly together as besties, laughing together loudly at dumb shit or messing with their other friends. Maybe at some point he invites her to hang out with the rest of his friends, going shopping w Teru, hanging out w the telepathy club, or just anything really, she deserves more true friends. And since tsubomi isnt impressed by anything psychic/supernatural related, Mob can tell her about his little shenanigans at spirits n such without being weirded out or anything, she'll just listen and its the same for Mob's side, he's good at understanding and giving a safe place to speak, I know I said it already but she really needs true friends that wouldnt wish bad things upon her or see her as a prize.

I love system mob and Shigeo for so many reasons and one of them is the comedy potential. Mob and Shigeo having full blown conversations in their head and they don't realize they've been silently staring at the wall for 12 minutes while the others make sure they don't walk into anything. Mob and Teru being Not Straight and the entire time Shigeo's just judging him. Mobs just trying to bat him away with a newspaper so he can have his damn date in peace. I think Shigeo being fucking Goofy as well as, y'know, literally terrifying is underrated.
literally the funniest thing I can think of is teru leaning in to kiss mob and shigeo grabbing his face one handed with That One Expression and simply saying. "No." 💀
I agree though! shigeos fear over acceptance and feeling like tsubomi was the only one who would understand him I think would mean his sexuality is Off Limits for A While. like warming up to the people in mobs life Takes A Minute. so doing any additional soul searching now on the other side of puberty? pump the fucking breaks for a second
and its doubly funny that teruki who's been on the other side of him twice also has a bad impression bc he did it babe! he saw you at your worst and he likes you anyway! he saw you do terrible things and he stood by you until the bitter end! but he also choked you out and tried to explode your bouquet so fuck that guy.
reigen spinning some tall tale and mobs like wow shishou :) you're so amazing :) and then he says smtn else and shigeo drops a flat one liner that suckerpunches him & contradicts everything he just said so blatantly he's left fumbling to catch up. (and worst of all: it was really fucking FUNNY.)
which brings me to my next slide: the first person in mobs life that shigeo falls in with is absolutely tome. imo. she's blunt with her feelings, she's up front, she's sardonic and silly and she's a girl. safe all the way down for someone getting their sea legs. also imo tome is gay so it eases his concerns right. vibes.
one last consideration: shigeo enjoys his powers. they're a part of him. he wants to flex his wings. so him sparring w ritsu (gently) and shou (less so) in a way mob would NEVER before. but it's good! it's healthy to blow off that steam! esp bc shous a firecracker and also desperately needs to blow off his extra power. do u see my vision

Heartcatch Precure: Final Thoughts
What a heck of a nostalgia trip! I never actually gave Heartcatch a literal, honest review since I watched it a month before graduating from college.
So, I want to discuss a few things about this season. A lot of people praise Heartcatch for its story/concept/character development/music.
To better explain my thoughts, here is a breakdown:
Characters: Most of the cast were memorable, especially the minor characters like Azusa, Aya, Kenji, Nanami, and so on. As for the main four, Tsubomi and Erika had great connections, while Itsuki seems underrated as hell.
In fact, Itsuki seems to have gotten the shaft (like Komachi), while Yuri suffered an unfinished flashback (WHAT MOTIVATED HER TO BECOME PRECURE AND HOW DID SHE MEET WITH COLOGNE?!).
The villains, on the other hand, were somewhat
Concept: Even though this season’s theme is flowers, there are deeper meanings behind it that I truly love: change and acceptance. Each of the four main cures went through changes, but also accepted a part of themselves that makes each other unique.
Plot: The direction of plot left a few plotholes, but the balance between humor, slice of life, and action was kept intact.
Overall: So, is it really the best season of Precure? Not really.
Being the most popular season doesn’t make it the best. It has flaws, just like the previous seasons (WHY YURI GET NO PROPER BACKSTORY?!?), and as much as I want to shove it above Fresh in rankings, I feel it deserves to settle with SplashStar.
[But Ash, this is THE season with Aya Hisakawa. Why wouldn’t you put it up that high?! It had some of the best musi--]
HOLD IT. Sure, I am one of the biggest Aya Hisakawa fans, but Moonlight is not really my favorite character voiced by her. Second, the music may be great, but it isn’t as cohesive as Yes!Pre5. Perhaps the notion that Umakoshi worked on Ojamajo Doremi before Heartcatch and expecting more light-hearted tones for the season was something I looked for (but no because Doremi was targeted to younger kids and was not intended to be a high-octane action magical girl series). I WILL say that HEART GOES ON is catchy as hell.
Now, for the movie. I thought the movie was great, especially during the scene with Baron Salamander and Moonlight...and this:

and...Baron is still my favorite movie villain, not just because of his motive, but BECAUSE DRAGONS.
Tumblr media
(Take that, Sirloin!)
Anyways, if you take into consideration the anime, movie, and music, this is where Heartcatch stands in my ranking:

With that, this month’s Precure rewatch has concluded.
As for next month, it is unknown if I will be starting Suite early or at all. It depends on my health condition. Until then, here’s hoping COFFRET DOESN’T CATCH YOU USING YOUR TACT TO CLEAN YOUR DAMN ROOM!!

Goodnight.
